Obama, Clinton add endorsements
John Edwards is one of the biggest Democratic fish that neither Hillary Clinton nor Barack Obama have reeled in, but some of Edwards's key backers in his home state announced today they are throwing their support to Obama ahead of the May 6 primary in North Carolina.
The Obama campaign said that 49 prominent supporters of Edwards -- including Ed Turlington, the former North Carolina senator's former national chairman -- have signed on.
"Barack Obama and John Edwards share a commitment to taking on special interests and standing up for regular Americans. Along with Edwards supporters from across the state, I am honored to join Senator Obama's movement for change,” Turlington said in a statement issued by the Obama camp. “As president, he will bring together Democrats, Republicans and Independents behind an agenda of change. From ending the war in Iraq to confronting the scourge of poverty to making health care affordable for every single American, Barack Obama will bring our country the change we need.”
Meanwhile, after her win in Pennsylvania, Clinton picked up a noteworthy superdelegate: US Representative John Tanner of Tennessee, a co-founder of the Blue Dog Coalition, a group of Southern conservative Democrats in Congress.
"I do not remember a time when our nation has faced the financial peril that confronts all Americans," Tanner said in a statement issued by the Clinton camp. "To me, this election is not about politics as usual. I believe nothing less than our financial liberty and economic freedom are at stake. In my opinion, the best person to lead this critical effort is Hillary Clinton. Hillary is a smart, pragmatic leader who understands the grave situation our country faces."

Sorry to sound elitist, but I really do think my fellow countrymen are stupid. Utterly, and bitterly, stupid, with contempt for the world and their place in it.
Americans deserve Hillary or McCain for President. Our country no better and will get no better.
As a Canadian who just graduated with a degree in Political Science and has been following the Democratic primaries closely, all I can say is that I pray Obama takes it all the way to the white house. America needs it, and frankly, the world needs an America with a solid head on its shoulders. Its been quite a few years since it last had one.
'Manufactured political distractions', Obama's words, and the most honest politics I believe I have ever heard, on either side of the border. America DOES need a change, and whether or not he can do it, at least he's being honest about his intent. Hillary, pff, shes just on an ego trip.
If by some far-fetched chance, Hilary gets the nomination, I will still be writing in Obama for President. He is a brilliant, authentic, honest, and compassionate person who is in touch with regular American people, and respects all people around the world.
"Core Democrat" : Where is your proof re donors to Obama? Present the actual facts, plelase. By law donor lists must be made available by both campaigns. So far, Obama has complied with the law and rules of the Democratic party quickly because he seems to have nothing to hide. The Clintons have been slow to comply because they have plenty to hide, and some of it is available if you care to pursue it. A course in Critical Thinking and Semantics will be very helpful to voters who lack this training. Without it,voters are easily manipulated by pushbutton word tricks which arouse emotions that negate reason and the desire and ability to thoughtfully weigh actual facts. How do you think we got Geo.W.Bush for 8 years? Republicans and Democrats are all just human beings with simjilar weaknesses and aspirations, easily exploited by professional propagandists.
Senator Obama did not respond well to the "bitter" comment distortion from the media and Hillary 's campaign. Defending a sentimental, emotionally hurtful misconstrued statement is not usually the best policy of connecting voters. I think he should have simply apologized, take responsibility and just move on. I believe he still needs to do that preparing for November election to avoid being hurt badly.
Hillary is simply playing a loser's game. I don't believe she is a fighter as the media try to sing. She is simply a trouble maker, changing the rules, manipulating the voters, threatening the Party leadership and willing to do and say anything to win the nomination. You know how people behave when they want to have their way at all cost. There is no principle or forthrightness in her game. It is absolutely surprising that many Americans simply cannot see through her yet. I guess race and gender are powerful blind folders.
For all that Senator Obama has done or accomplished so far in this election, he should by now have won the nomination if he were white. This guy is simply amazing and fantastic. His personal life , campaign management, motivational skills, leadership excellence, funds management, his character under pressure and many more are just excellent and flawless. So they have to dig out things connected to a third party like Rev Wright and others to try to redefine him and stop his movement. Again I say if he was a white person by now there would be no contest, the media would have recognized such an amazing contribution to the American political drama and the young new voices of change in America would by now be ringing louder with the superdelegates singing along.
But I guess this experience is good for Obama so he can face the reality of racial disease in American lives. He has been kind of aloof to the real pains and wounds in the older black generation and has always suggested a better way to go. He is about to realize that in America it doesn't matter how personally good you are as a black man you can only go as far as some white folks want you to. It is convenient for the Clintons to join forces with the Republicans , the powerful racial media block like Sean Hannity of Fox news and many others to play up the racial elements to brutalize Obama. That is exactly what happened in Pennsylvania. Clintons are only a convenient tool in the hands of certain Republicans right now. When they are done with Obama they will tear her to shreds.
The black constituency will soon wake up from their dream that the Democratic party is the party of freedom when the superdelegates turn over the nomination to Hillary Clinton at the expense of Obama's exellent performance according to the rules on the excuse of electibility bla-bla-bla. It is all about recognizing Obama 's limitation in the general election because of the racial undertone. I will soon be proved right.
Evie I really hope you are intelligent enough to know your argument holds no weight but are just posturing for your candidate. He spent more money than her yet is still in better financial shape with more , cash more votes and more delagates. he spent more than her because he was a relative unknown vs a known carpet bagger positioning herself as a hometown regular girl. She is a hometown regular girl everywhere she runs for office, New York, Chicago, Arkansas, etc. The truth is she is a dishonest, non trust worthy person whose husband brought disgrace on not only the Presidency but just being a man. In case you forgot he sexually exploited women including a 19 year old intern, and she joined him in attacking the veracity of the women. How women can now admire her is beyond me. Additionally his spending money he had forced her to spend money she does not have and it cut a 27% lead down to less than 9%. Believe it or not Obama won even in defeat because he has plenty cash to fight on and the net result of PA is Clinton having to use all her cash and go deeper in debt to gain 15 delagates.
Dear "cazador",
I liked Hillary 14 months ago. Unfortunately, when my daughter is sitting on my shoulders, I will tell her she can be anything she wants, just not someone like the Hillary of today.
The more I learn about Obama, the less I like. I can't explain away his support for Rev. Wright and the disrespectful labeling of rural religious people as "bitter". If he is the person who can heal divisions, then why did he create new ones? Are we just exchanging old stereotypes for new ones?
chad,
I'm not an elitist, but I think if I was a Southerner like you, I'd at least know how to spell it.
liar.no money.3AM.bosnia.vote for iraq war. pantsuits.HILLARY
Who really cares who wins the Dem nomination?
Mccain is going to be ther next president no matter how you moonbats try to spin it.
Deal with it!
Dear "charlieb",
That is the most interesting and prudent observation I have read on these blogs in the last six months. I feel like I know Edwards and Clinton, too. Unfortunately, I can't trust Clinton anymore. She really is a disappointment.
The choice is simple:
One is a leader the other a politician.
One is about the future the other about the past.
One is about our hopes the other about our fears.
One will unite the country; the other will divide it even further.
One refuses to use negative campaigning the other stoops in it.
One is about transparency, the other about keeping us in the dark.
One is inclusive, the other excusive.
One is inspired to serve, the other entitled to power.
One’s campaign is funded by average Americans and therefore beholden to them, the other’s mostly by lobbyist and answerable to special interest.
One is guided by a moral compass, the other by a self-interest compass.
Another big issue to consider here is who can get the job done. Obama is the only one who can put together a governing majority to address the major issues that are facing our country. Clinton will most likely lose to McCain. Even if she wins, it would be by a slim margin that doesn’t give her the means to deal with these major issues. She will be unable to overcome the gridlock that has been in place for the last two decades. Bill Clinton’s administration is a case in point.
Furthermore, it is not in Hillary’s make up to bring people with divergent views and interest together. She is more of “us versus them”, “take no prisoner” kind of person. The problem with this strategy is that we are all one people and the country cannot go far at the expense of one of its parts, be it race, gender, age or class. We can’t ignore the education of our children and expect to compete in the global job market/ economy for example.
We really need to claim our future with this election. The only way we can compete in the 21st century is if we stand together. Therefore the most fundamental question to ask in this election is what kind of politics and leadership is needed to facilitate this objective. Without question, the leadership and politics of the future is that which will bring us together as a nation.
This is not about personal likes and dislikes, nor about race or gender. This is about where we want to be in ten, twenty, thirty years. Mind you, with the economic progress that China and India are making, we don’t have the luxury of letting our politics continue the way it has in the past. These last few years have been a disaster.
Barack Obama is the only real choice.
God Bless you Obama!!!
MCCAIN =BUSH
the only difference is that mccain is older and speaks properly
1) Just compare Obama and Clinton's management of their own campaigns. Obama now has $42 million after PA, Clinton has minus $1 million (debt).
2) Clinton's elitist managers are professionals and overspent what they have.
3) Obama created new jobs in Illinois by working at the grass roots level. Hillary created 10 new jobs for American citizens plus 100's of jobs for citizens of India on H-1B visas through the Tata Consulting Services. The Clinton's are the biggest outsourcers of American jobs with NAFTA (1 million+ jobs lost). People need to get themselves educated. Read about the Tata Consulting Services! Read about the negative effects of NAFTA on Mexican Agriculture causing millions of Mexicans to migrate into the US! Americans need to get themselves educated. All of this information is available on the internet.
Bill lied to us straight-faced after he was elected. Hillary has already begun with sniper bullets (not something someone could conveniently forget even at 3:00 in the morning).
It may have taken a Clinton to clean up after the first Bush, but remember that the first Clinton is significantly responsible for giving us the second Bush by weakening the Democratic Party.
Former Clinto supporter.
OLU DAVID, I agree with you about the racial issues, and how Hilary has been using it to manipulate, but I don't think it will be enough to stop a Change whose time has come! Like Sam Cooke said, "It's been a long time comin', but I know...[Barack will be president]"!
One Love,
ZiN
I wonder where all our Senators and Representative were during the past several years, while China and the Middle East Countries were wrecking our economy and and our way of life. With out Economic Strength, we have nothing. Our people are suffering and it is mainly because of our Executive Branch and Legislative Branch burying their heads in the sand until each election time.
Maybe Obama can do some thing to help our country and people, if we can elect him.
EThomas
Obama picked up Edwards supporters and Hillary picked up a Republican. Not surprising.
This message is in response to the posting from Lori Campbell.
I am an African American and am so moved by your genuine, well thought out and heartfelt comments. I am at work, but I had to take the time out to say thank you!
You have assessed the situation with unbiased eyes and without an agenda. I respect and admire that so much. You help me maintain a strong faith and belief that by and large, the white community is a very decent and fair community, able and willing to look beyond race. So many people though think of this as a game or a sport to see who can out spin each other, to really go negative to see how much damage one can do to another. And all some say is "it's politics". But it does not have to be that way. Have we really become so numb and cynical? Shame on us.
Well I am getting off on another tangent , but I just wanted to let you know I value your human worth, respect and admire you for taking the time to convey your thoughts in write form . . . I know the time it takes to get it right in written form like you feel it in your heart. . . to be passionate, but also sure to check yourself so that you are not being biased.
God Bless you, my sister and God Bless this wonderful county of ours.
It is my hope tht history will reflect Barack Obama as a benchmark and testament to the better Nation we decided to become.
Kindest Regards, -Ken
OOOOOPS. Am I the only one that remembers the "Clinton" years in office.....heeelllleoooo we "all" had it good....economy was "Fantastic" growing, flowing...............helllleeoooooo.....Who gives a "crap" about cover ups this or that, we live in a "Dog E Dog" World, as long as the PEOPLE are taken care oflet them slug it out in office- WE NEED a Female 'BALL BUSTER" in office, Obama reminds me of Gilligan from Gilligans Island, just wants to be popular, but when it comes down to the nitty gritty- whoa, what was that look - dear head lights- a GET OUT OF THE WAY OBAMA-SORRY-BALLS OF STEEL BUDDY - BUY SOME
'HILLARYCLINTON.COM" THE WEEK MINDED NEED NOT APPLY-OUT !!
Obama spends more money but comes up short. He stutters like Porky Pig in a unrehearsed debate and then cries foul because he sucked. He is every bit as negative as Hillary but gets away because people are afraid to get called racist. He can filp the finger at Hillary like a school boy and the media who drink his cool aid say nothing. Would they have remained silent if Hillary flipped off Obama? Even with the kind of money he has, he can't stop her! Why do people not see that he is also dividing the party unity and he is suppoused to be the uniter! Do you all forget what the last "uniter" has done to our country? Do you all really think that in this day and age people are really going to elect a black president? As much as I would like it to happen, it's not going to happen and he is also going to harm many black political candidates for a long time.
1. The Clinton's will say or do anything to get elected. By now this should be clear to most everyone.
2. Do we really want mad dog Bill hanging out on the fringes of a Hillary presidency. Do we want a co-presidency? These people are dangerous.
3. H. complains that Obama spent more. Dah, it's because he has the money. The fact that Obama is sitting on top of a lot more contributed money then H. say's that more people support him and are willing to vote with their checkbooks.
If H. manages to steal the election, I'll sit this one out. No way I could hold my nose to vote for H. Note, I voted for Bill twice,
charlieb said, "I saw him in 2004 at the convention deliver a beautiful speech and the next thing I know is he's running for President." -- That was FOUR years ago. It hardly counts as a short time. :) I believe Clinton is in with the cronies, and that is one reason why I refuse to vote for her. Politics as usual will NOT help our country at this point. It's time to shake it up with new ideas and get out of this scary political machine we've been in for so long.
Martha said, "What many people are failing to realize is that most of Hilary's votes are coming from Republicans that are voting for her because she would NOT be able to win over McCain. - Superdelegates, please listen..." -- Entirely true! I've heard this DIRECTLY out of the mouths of many Republicans!
"We NEED Obama if we HOPE to have anything CHANGE for us..." - Agreed.
Dear Upset in SC-
92% of blacks voted for Obama because he is black. What's your point?
Core Democrat - Obama hasn't taken money from "lenders, mortgage companies, oil companies and lobbyists"! Give me a break. If a few individuals who happen to work at an oil company or a bank go to Obama's website and donate to him, that's not the same as a candidate taking corporate money! There's a big difference between individuals giving their own money based on their own personal views and corporations and lobbyist organizations making donations win an effort to buy favor. This is just another example of the sleazy tactics Clinton is willing to employ to win at all costs. SHE'S the one who takes corporate lobbyist money.
Unfortunately people PA has many non-forward thinking residents within it. I know, I had to escape from Pittsburgh in order to move forward in my life. There is nothing wrong with being blue collar workers, as my parents were such and I have other people I love who are also. But many blue collar workers suffer from lack of vision and this promotes ignorance and a sort of settling for the status quo. This is why Clinton won in PA. But as OBAMA says, its now time to turn the page. We dont want the same old politics. And we cant afford to have the same old politics..........so OBAMA 08 LISTEN TO THE MAJORITY VOICE OF THE COUNTRY, BLACKS, WHITES, LATINOS, WOMEN, MEN, YOUTH ETC. OBAMA IS THE PROPER SELECTION FOR PRESIDENT!
Endorsing either candidate would make getting $400 haircuts insignificant if he wants to run for federal office in the future. He has more sense then to risk his future by betting on either candidate. It is a no win situation.
To cbl:
I'm a 52 year old white woman and I liked your response.
Specific changes Obama will bring to the White House:
1. No lobbyist influence
2. Tax breaks for companies that keep jobs in the U.S. and penalties for those that don't.
3. Negotiations rather than jumping into war
4. Tax burden on the wealthy rather than the middle class.
those that
Terri B, How can you and other delude yourself into counting the 'vote' in Fl and MI? The 'rules' of the election are the dem party rules (and not the state rules). This is a Democratic Party vote and it validity is not grounded in the state government. The party said the vote will not count. These are the facts no matter how well it suites some to twist them. Hillary, in counting the MI race didn[t even give Obama the 'other' vote tally (I mean if your going to twist reality, you might as well acknowledge that the I don't care votes was Obamas. And if you look at Penn, you see how unfair it would be to count the 'votes' in FL and MI. Without campaigning, Obama was down 30 points at one point and closed it to 9 points. He didn[t get to campaign in either FL or MI. He would probably have won in MI (polls taken a month ago show him leading in MI by 5 points) and lost in FL, but would have only lost a modest amount in the two state vote total.
Just when I start admiring Hillary for fighting hard for a win, she looses my respect with such a mind numbing arguement. But just wait two weeks, and even with Clintons bad math, Obama will have regained the popular vote for good.
Obama's campaign is spending money just like Bush has the past years as though there is no limit to a their credit card. Is that fiscal responsibility? He could not win Pa. after having all his super dupers Kerry, Kennedy and Casey rushing the state for weeks. Say what you want, but she has won the big ones. He has won the ones where his people have flooded the caucasas. I know for a fact that in Jackson Hole all the Republicans changed parties to vote against Hillary because they know she stands a better chance against McCain than Obama does. Already today McCain is criticizing Hillary for running a negative campaign. However, Obama has been more negative than Hillary. I live in N.C. and the emails people are getting from Obama camp are worse than anything Hillary ever did or said. Could never vote for Obama because of the crisis this country is in now. The Clintons both can help America.
Ernesto, Senator Obama did not give Hillary the finger. That was Contessa Brewer's stupid opinion on MSNBC. She was quickly debunked by her two guests, "Senator Obama is way to classy to ever do that".
Hillary's campaign is broke, no worse, it's millions in debt. She can't pay her bills or her people. She can't win. No money, no way to catch up with pledged delegates. Senator Obama got two more superdelegates today. She got the one. People are sick of the Clintons and want her out.
Imagine , the most influential person in your political party, the former President of the United States--a man who takes millions of dollars giving speeches is working for Hillary Clinton! HOW MUCH IS THAT WORTH! To say that Obama outspent her is missing the point.
I really can not believe the ignorance of some people. You say you want change, but yet if Hillary were to win the nomination you would vote for McCain. MCCAIN=BUSH and we can not endure another 4 years of Bush policies and ideologies.
I just hope we realize she is the only one that can save our country... Come on people open your eyes and listen and take a step back and think... Be smart by making the right choice the only one for America !

Toni, the majority of us have our eyes wide open and we are listening intently to Hilliary. We do NOT like what we see and we do not like what we hear from her: LIES, LIES, SLANDER, KITCHEN SINKS, RACE CARDS, GENDER CARDS, FRAUDULANT BOSNIA CLAIMS, AND ON AND ON!! We have taken several steps back from her ugliness and slash-and-burn tactics. We CHOOSE to embrace the man of integrity, honesty, superb leadership and management skills (look at his wonderful campaign and wise use of his funds), a man of indepth character and a heart of gold who has the best interests of America at heart.
Hilliary has demonstrated she is lacking in ALL of these necessary characteristics required and demanded of a great leader. She is a loser and a coward who has to resort to dirty politics in order to try and make her case. Shame on her!!
I wonder why the Democrat so afraid of the Clinton. Are they the only ones the party can rely on? If so this party sucks!!!!
Those remain superdelegates shall vote for Senator Obama to end this dirty campaign once and for all.
Obama, You are a fine young man. I'll pray for you and your family especially your two precious daughter.
God Mother! Please help this good person.
Obama is media wind...Lots of blowing hard, but no substance. He sure is a pretty, elitist little thing the media is cramming down everyones throat. He's rock stars, free concerts, blasting phone crap, spending money out his a--. I am sick of his rhetoric. He promises and promises on things he can't make happen. Change can be ugly, hard and takes a decisive action. He will do nothing but blow wind...Maybe he can talk Iran to death about the right road, like Carter did when they took out people hostage...empty results. Reagan came in threatened to blow away their butts and we had out hostages back. He is weak. Yeah, I know anyone who opposes him is a racist, or white, or old, or not hip. I'm not hip, I am about making this country great.
He will not unite. With his excuses about "boneheaded" statements he is dividing.
Never to Obama.
There seems to be a lot of comments regarding how Barack outspent Hillary in advertising/media coverage. Gimme a break! No matter what he does he is subject to rediculous criticisms.
People then turn around and complain that they know nothing about him. So what - he pulls hard in the campaign for some visibility and then people write him off for it? If he hadn't put out the ads would people then accuse him of being too elistist and writing off PA for being too old and white????
Barack started with the disadvantage in the state. We must remember that he has risen from the bottom in astounding ways. If anyone has defied gravity, this guy has! Hillary on the other hand has some very old roots in PA. Of course people will feel an affinity to the home town girl who summered there in her youth with dad and grandpa! In addition to this, she started out the campaign riding on the coat tails of her husband's name recognition and legacy, and has been supported with decades of free press!
Clinton started out with a HUGE margin which Obama has managed to close by 20 points! He had an uphill battle coming in, and his spending has paid off in many ways. If not so much now, then in paving the way for November. More credit should be given to him.
Go Obama! You make us proud!
Barack Obama is the man with the plan and is unstoppable in his march to the candidacy. For those familiar with Monty Python think Black Knight it is merely a flesh wound. She has cut into his arm but thankfully he has lots of limbs left to fight her down with. His key limbs are integrity, judgment, charisma, the ability to bring new blood to the party and the nations political process. The Hillary knight and the McCain knight have none of the above and are scared to death of the status quo getting toppled over.
Coming from one of the few, the proud, and I'll be honest, the giddy, Mass Republicans, thank you Hillary and the voters of the great state of Pennsylvania for keeping this going. Not only does it allow negative rhetoric to continue but hopefully it will expose even more of the terrorist friendships and elitist snobbery of Obama.
I thank you, and future President John McCain thanks you.
and I've probably wasted the last two minutes posting this because the Globe doesn't print opposing (Republican) view points.
I am Republican - so I guess the implosion of the Democratic party ought to be a good thing. But I am fed up with the last 7 years.
Obama offered an alternative to more of the same machine politics.
Wonder why Hillary can't get elected? Wonder why there is such a deep feeling of ill-ease among Independents and moderate Republicans?
No sense of honesty. Today's "Hillary disingenuous moment":
"I'm very proud that as of today, I have received more votes by the people who have voted than anybody else, and I am proud of that," Clinton said at a rally in Indianapolis. "It's a very close race, but if you count, as I count, the 2.3 million people who voted in Michigan and Florida, then we are going to build on that."
It's this word parsing that just irks the heck out of moderates and independants.
Number #7 said it all .... That is right, that is why he cannot win. You cannot just depend in South & North Carolina, you must be able to win Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Florida to get into the White House.
her own campain is in dept, how could she handle the us economy, what a joke.
I think it would be great to have a woman President - but not just any woman. Senator Clinton has many fine qualities but making her our National leader would signal a new low in the self-esteem of the body politic. I think the Congress is more her element and she should be able to be a contributor there. But, The Presidency? ... sorry, this needs to go to someone with high leadership qualities, high integrity, and high vision, not just someone with pugnacity and a lunch-pail mentality.
I think we should follow florida and michigans lead and move the 2012 primaries up to 2009. Then I can vote for Chelsea. I can't think of anybody to vote for except for bushes and clintons. Lets make them monarchs and queens so I can bow down to them. Did I mention that I am ignorant? How does this interweb work anyway? Obama has dirty nukes, don't vote for him. His middle name is sadaam. He went to school with satan. Hillary spent all her money on plastic surgery. Don't she look sweet? She has boxing gloves, so she can fight for me. duuuuur. Which way to the polls?
It is preferable to vomit in my mouth than it is to see Hillary Clinton continue to destroy the Democratic party with her reality bending kaleidoscope. She will lie , obfuscate, then quickly move the goal posts. The 30 states she lost no longer matter now that her Pennsylvania victory brought her only 14 delegates it no longer matters on to Indiana the state she will claim is the end all to end all. Some of America will continue to roll around in the gutter. Is it not telling that she continually wins the lesser educated in our nation and significantly losses the most highly educated vote? I pray we can smarten up enough citizens to bring the White House to the better candidate.
So much bitterness in these comments ........wake up people!!!!!
We are one nation and we need someone to bring people together, old people , young people, poor people, rich people, women, men, black people, hispanics, white people. We are in dire need of healing..We are all in the "same boat"....
Read the comments- many are sickening pedantic rants...
Bottom line--- I will most likely vote for Hill Clinton when she is nominated and many of you have said Hillary should drop out of the race because she cannot win against Mccain?! I strongly believe that just the opposite is true--that Obama has no chance of winning against Mccain should he somehow become the democratic nominee. I also believe that Obama is a fundamentally good man, however I do not like many things he has done, said, and associated himself with now and in the past.
Obama gives beautiful, moving speeches but is that going to be enough come general elections? People are angry and blame Hillary for running a fear campaign, testing Obama's experience, personality, and moral convictions. Do you think the Republicans aren't going to throw more than the kitchen sink at Obama? They will send Obama through the shredder.
Also, ask yourself why Obama is able to bring in the young votes but not the blue-collar, working class nor the seniors? Is it because his beautifully crafted speeches are able to rally the young Americans but don't really provide answers for the real issues that face working, blue collar and senior Americans?
The next President has a full plate cleaning up this country after Bush/Cheney. Do you want somebody who talks the talk or someone who walks the walk?
To quote another defeated Dem, "I know Republicans, and you TT, are no Republican".
Hillary Clinton is a shape shifting political fraud. The Fraud is more than skin deep but begins with the false facade of her personal appearance that she has crafted to manipulate voters: Botox, Blue Contact Lenses & Dyed Blonde Hair. Why the mask? Hillary has remade herself as a classic all American candidate. The Clinton campaign has targeted its fraud on the on the left side of the bell curve, the intellectually undernourished who can be more easily manipulated and deceived and thus far has refused to hold her accountable on her FUNDAMENTAL LIES: Profesional Experience: less than 1 year working in non-profit sector, more than 15 years as a corporate lawyer in a patronage position due to her husbands status as AG, Governor of Arkansas

I am from Southwestern Pennsyvania and I basically agree that people there would have stood behind Obama if he was white as he was endorsed by many unions and is definately more in line, and in tune, with the working people and against NAFTA CAFTA etc.
Pennsylvanians are wonderful people but I am sorry to say that there are MANY Bigots and closed minded people there and it is sad that because the color of his skin, (and his stupid comments that were taken out of context), they chose what is worst for their own interests.
Realize that the Clintons represent the status quo in Washington and they are DESPERATELY clinging to power and will do ANYTHING to get back in power and I mean ANYTHING...
Now they are trying to change the rules and count the popular vote in Michegan, that is SICK!
I hope, for his sake, he is not forced to take The Clintons as his vice president. God Bless America and God Bless Barack Obama!
Response to Teri B. Your argument that Florida and Michigan votes should count is not founded in fairness. The candidates, in honoring the DNC sanctions, by agreement denied themselves the right to offer their message to the voters (campaigning can certainly affect the outcome). Moreover, the voters were aware that their votes would not count. One could speculate as to what effect that had - especially as to those who understandingly were discouraged from voting. (I know a little about this- heavy news item in Michigan) . The elections were not conducted under our democratic system of candidate selection and therefore not a fair test of the degree of voter preference.
As to Obama's concerns with a re-vote, did you know that a re-vote in Michigan under the rules would automatically disenfranchise and eliminate many independents from re-voting - independents who crossed to McCain but would have voted Obama if he were on the ballot? Can we blame Obama? How was he to know that the sanctions of the DNC as well as the agreement of the candidates would someday be dishonored?
And as to honor and committment, did you know that Hillary, before she learned that her nomination was in jeopardy, had this to say about the upcoming elections in Michigan and Florida: "It's clear, this election they're having is not going to count for anything," (New Hampshire Public Radio's call-in program, "The Exchange." ) Does this square well with what she is saying today?
As for disenfranchisement, I, as a Michigan voter, do not blame the DNC or the candidates. It was our own elected officials that caused the problem. Our legislators were forewarned by the DNC of the consequences of their actions - they went ahead despite us!

"nobody can win a general election with just the snob, black & kiddie vote"
Great line -- I had to chuckle. These blog comments are new to me and actually scary at times, but that line cleverly summed it up-- albeit bluntly.
Hillary simply cannot tell the truth. Here’s her scorecard:
Admitted Lies
• Chelsea was jogging around the Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001. (She was in bed watching it on TV.)
• Hillary was named after Sir Edmund Hillary. (She admitted she was wrong. He climbed Mt. Everest five years after her birth.)
• She was under sniper fire in Bosnia. (A girl presented her with flowers at the foot of the ramp.)
• She learned in The Wall Street Journal how to make a killing in the futures market. (It didn’t cover the market back then.)
Whoppers She Won’t Confess To
• She didn’t know about the FALN pardons.
• She didn’t know that her brothers were being paid to get pardons that Clinton granted.
• Taking the White House gifts was a clerical error.
• She didn’t know that her staff would fire the travel office staff after she told them to do so.
• She didn’t know that the Peter Paul fundraiser in Hollywood in 2000 cost $700,000 more than she reported it had.
• She opposed NAFTA at the time.
• She was instrumental in the Irish peace process.
• She urged Bill to intervene in Rwanda.
• She played a role in the ’90s economic recovery.
• The billing records showed up on their own.
• She thought Bill was innocent when the Monica scandal broke.
• She was always a Yankees fan.
• She had nothing to do with the New Square Hasidic pardons (after they voted for her 1,400-12 and she attended a meeting at the White House about the pardons).
• She negotiated for the release of refugees in Macedonia (who were released the day before she got there).
With a record like that, is it any wonder that we suspect her of being less than honest and straightforward?
what's this about Hillary bankrupt America if she wins? As I remember it there was a surplus of money when the Clintons took office. There was a billboard off the US1 with the electronic counter showing the US debt climbing during Bush Sr. and the numbers dropping as the Clintons took office. The state of the economy was in great shape during the Clinton years. Please check the facts first. As for change yes this country needs change. I heard Hillary's plan but does Obama have a plan and specifics ? I haven't heard him explain it just a lot hot air.
Why dont we ask Obama about Nicaderm and his support of a Nationwide public smoking ban? If I were hiring someone to serve me, I would go with the person with the best resume. Not the person who gets caught double speaking and is very obviously a racist. Grow up, if Obama makes it to the general election, the Rightwing machine will tear him up. Somewhere around 30% of PA Clinton voters said that if it were Mccain v Obama, they would not vote, and about 16% said they would vote for Mccain. I know a lot of people that feel the same way. Its not about Obama v Clinton when you really step back, its who can defeat Mccain. I also am upset at the fact that people vote for Obama just because hes black. Stop looking at black, white, man, women, money, etc. Lets look at whos qualified and challenge Mccain and turn this country around. I have written my representatives, I have donated to the Clinton campaing, and I openly support her because she has the experience to get done what needs to get done.
Why would anyone want to vote for Obama. When he was in the Illinois legislature he voted more than 500 times PRESENT instead of for or against a bill. Do we want a president who is present or who votes his or her real position. You may not always agree with Hillary but you know where she stands and what she believes. Do we really know that much about Obama? Where does he really stand? His biggest supporters are the nuclear energy people. Do you want Nuclear Power plants in your town? With Obama running the country you just might not have a choice. As Nevadan we watched as Obama was asked his take on Yucca Mountain. His answer was that he would do research on the issue. This was not what Nevadans wanted to hear.
>>>>> Pure Life
First off its Michigan, not Michegan.
And secondly, the Clinton have done more for black people that Barack ever has. That always makes me sick to my stomach when people conveniently forget all of the things that they have done just because a "black guy" is running for president.
All this bickering about who will be the strongest candidate is meaningless if there is a divided party with many vowing to vote McCain if their candidate does not win the nomination, effectively handing him the presidency. You can either grow up and unite behind whomever is the democratic nominee or if not then please spare us all this pointless arguing as to who is better since it won't matter.
Simon-
How right you are when you state "Not the person who gets caught double speaking and is very obviously a racist"- That's why all the open minded non-racists support Obama and not the HillBillies- Si Se Puede.
Good people of America, there are 3 key issues: economy, war, health care. Jobs are going overseas because of the work ethics of upcoming Asian countries ( work from morning till night with very little money, success is more important than money), we cannot fight that way of success oriented thinking, govt can pour money into cutting edge research in all facets of technology and medicine and than provide the incentive for tier 3 transmission of jobs to Asia, war is not ending because we are not prepared to end it plus we are loosing our young men and women fighting for a nation that does not need democracy, tribes will never unite under one banner ( history of tribes in that part of the world), so give the ultimatum to Afghanistan and Iraq and pull the troops out within a reasonable time frame,
health care can be reformed if companies are made to provide basic health care and govt can provide the neccessary tax breaks to help employers. Who do you think knows how to do this, Hillary Clinton, folks it is not a matter of liking her or not, it is a matter of making America prosperous again and she can do it in one term because of all the help she has available. Senator Obama can probably do it but it will take far more time plus he may have to serve some interests in the beginning that will only delay the change that he mentions so often in his speech
I grew up in Pennsylvania lived there for the first 21 years of my life, go back to visit family once per year - This may or may not be a news flash, Pennsylvania is full of racists. Believe me the "N" word is used all the time, Senator Obama had no chance - I was glad to leave that state and cringe when I visit, it is very disheartening the hatred for blacks in that state. Let Hillary celebrate winning all the NE Racist states.
Let's call it like it is, PA is a haven for racists.
Hillary is the only one who can stand up to the Congress, and she also will be better in foreign fairs, Barack will not be able to get anything done in Congress......and over seas he has not the experience to handle it, so if you want to throw your vote away, then vote for someone who only has very little experience!!
WATCH HILLARY VIDEO VICTORY SPEACH, SARTING AT 5 MINS AND 17 SECONDS, THE CAMERA WAS ON CLINTON ,IDENTIFY WHOSE HAND IT WAS
ON THE SHOULDER OF THIS WOMAN WEARING A BLACK ARMLEES TOP.
At this rate if the superdelegates endorse one at a time, it's quite possible that they will still be endorsing till after the general election .Hillary''s new slogan is " Why can''t he close the deal?" Someone should remind Hillary that they are running for the office of the President of the United States and that they are not some used car salesmen. Keep counting those imaginary delegates from Michigan and Florida. If there is one thing that America stands for, is that We are a nation of Laws, and Michigan and Florida broke the Democratic laws. The Democratic Party is not going to show the rest of the country that they will break their own rules."If we had the same system as the Republicans, I would already be the nominee...." yet another Clinton scenario for winning the primary. Do you think that you can make any other points as to whether the superdelegates should back Hillary ? Why did the media fail to chastise Ed Rendell " There are some people in this State that will not vote for a black man" but they vote for someone who channels Truman and said " we can totally obliterate Iran" By the way that wasn''t McCain who made that statement... it was Hillary. I did not say Clinton, because you may have understood it to be Bill Clinton. By the way AOL might want to get their facts straight.... Hillary won by 8.5 points and not 10
Martha haven't you been reading or watching the news? Obama got tons upon tons of votes from new voters.....those new voters are republicans that changed over to democrat so they could vot for Obama....so what is your point sweetie?
Obama only needs 300 more delegates, and he's the democratic nominee.
If vote is about black and white, then I don't want any democrat winning this presidency. But if this about real leadership for Americans, then Hilary beats Obama in every aspect of leadership and experience. Obama spent 11 million on TV advertising Pennsylvania compared to Hillary's total spending of 5 million and won the primary. What does that tell you about efficient leadership?
Do you ever wonder what the Clintons think of Howard Dean?
If anybody else was the head of the DNC the Dems wouldn't be in this mess.
I am just fatigued by the whole thing.
One thing I am getting out of all this is: If Hillary can't even manage her small campaign finances,How does she expect to handle this huge economy?
Hillary is SO negative! I might have voted for her before but not anymore, the longer this crap goes on the nastier she becomes. Maybe with Obama we can become a kinder gentler nation and become friends with the rest of the world again. Talking about obliterating another country just doesn't sound statesmanlike.
Poster 70 Ernesto "P" Juarez....do you have something against people who stutter? You do realize that is a form of discrimination.
And from one latina to a latino, that hopeless attitude repulses me. It's that negative attitude that keeps people like "you" where you are instead of moving up and forward, then turn around and blame the government for your own failures.
oh yeah by the way, I am a white guy from Michigan.
Here is my prediction:
The Draft Al Gore movement will begin in earnest on Wednesday morning, May 21, 2008. That will be the day after Hillary wins Kentucky and Obama wins Oregon.
It will also be the end of a stretch from March 4 through May 20, during which Hillary will have won:
Pennsylvania (swing state with 21 electoral votes)
Ohio (swing state with 20 electoral votes)
Texas (possible swing state with 34 electoral votes)
Indiana (possible swing state with 11 electoral votes)
West Virginia (swing state with 5 electoral votes)
Rhode Island (sure thing for the Democrats with 4 electoral votes)
Kentucky (probably will go Republican with 8 electoral votes)
During that same period, Obama will have won:
Oregon (sure thing for the Democrats with 7 electoral votes)
Vermont (sure thing for Democrats with 3 electoral votes)
Wyoming (sure thing for Republicans with 3 electoral votes)
Mississippi (sure thing for Republicans with 6 electoral votes)
North Carolina (probably will go Republican with 15 electoral votes)
Guam (does this really count?)
Furthermore, on May 21, the DNC will be looking forward to Puerto Rico (which Hillary should win), Montana, and South Dakota (which are two states in which Hillary could be polling surprising well in late May given the number of white gun owners in the state). In addition, Florida and Michigan will not be resolved, and those are two states that Hillary would win (again) if new primaries were held. In other words, the future will not look bright for Obama.
Given this scenario, the DNC is not going to want Obama limping into the Convention as the presumptive nominee after losing eight to ten of the final sixteen primaries, with all of the swing-state contests after March 4 being won by Hillary. However, the DNC will never allow Hillary to win the nomination. Therefore, the DNC's only option will be to draft Al Gore as the nominee, and hope to appease both Hillary and Obama supporters with a Gore-Obama ticket.
Oh, and my second prediction is that Howard Dean will be removed as Czar of the DNC, and he will never be seen or heard from again.
Oh yea, and my third prediction is John McCain wins in November.
If Hillary Clinton steals the Democratic nomination from Obama, I will not vote for her or John McCain. I feel strongly about voting because people died so that we could have the right to vote; however, I cannot in good conscience vote for Clinton or McCain. Early during the primary season, I was okay with Clinton or Obama winning; however, the prolonged fight, increased negativity, and dirty tactics have soured my opinion of Hillary Clinton.
I don’t trust her now, so how can I trust her as president? I’m a registered Democrat. I used to be an Independent until I realized in Florida you had to belong to a particular party to participate in primaries. Her kitchen sink strategy and determination to muddy Barack Obama beyond repair for the General Election is too much.
If Clinton “steals” the nomination and you plan on staying home or writing Obama’s name in on the ballot, please sign this guestbook so that the media, pundits, voters, and superdelegates realize that the media spin and polling is not always accurate and can be skewed.

Simon, can you give some examples of the Clinton's out pouring of grants and benefits to Africa n-Americans?
As for the "Look at how much money he spent, and he couldn't close the deal" suggestion...
Question: How many times has a new product come out that you've hesitated to give a try because you've grown accustomed to Brand X for years, even decades? It's a fact that when marketers of new products "strategize" their launch, they know they need two things:
1. Lots of money to pay for advertising, and
2. Lots of patience because people, by and large, will almost always go with "what they know," even if it's an inferior product. Which in turn results in the need to "Hang in there" as a small group of people give it a try, find out how good it is, start spreading the word, others give it a try, etc.
Again, this takes both LOTS of money up front (why else do business entrepreneurs need venture capitalist $$?) and LOTS of time.
How this relates: Next to the Clinton name brand, Obama is still relatively unknown. Think about it: The Clintons have been actively engaged in the Democrat Party for over two decades, with national recognition nearly that long. So of course part of what he needed to do in Pennsylvania - especially considering Hillary's family ties there, as well as her "neighboring New York state" ties, as well as the firmly entrenched "Good Old Boys" political machine that supported her, as well as the state's potential tendency to be hesitant to vote for a "Black" man - is get his name out there, become more of a "household" item.
To make criticisms about the amount of money he spent is assuming they started out on a level playing field. Not even close. And considering all the factors I've just mentioned, along with the "Hillary-made" demographics of the state, whittling her lead to around 9% is quite amazing. Or more like incredibly amazing.
P.S. Spending that much also forced Hillary to try and match him; it was a great strategy because she couldn't keep up financially, and she's now having to deal with the fallout of being strapped for cash.
P.P.S. I'm in my fifties, white, and haven't voted in an election for two decades. This is the only candidate in my lifetime who reflects the kinds of qualities and intelligence, the kinds of spiritual presence and "turn-the-page" leadership I've longed for. I'm grateful, ecstatic, optimistic, and in love with the millions of others who share a similar sentiment.

Our country was in better shape on so many fronts under the Clinton administration. The fact that there have been controversial events in the lives of Bill and Hillary are less important than the good she will do in service to Americans as our President. Given the number of years Hillary and her family have been in the public eye it should not come as a surprise to anyone when the media and others go after her digging up as much as they can as often as they can. She can handle that and much more. I think a lot of people still hold a grudge for the work Senator Clinton tried to do as first lady, she just didn't know her place... . Senator Obama is not without his own negative issues well outlined above. He is also not giving enough information with regards to his plans for our country. He is not a bad man,
he's just not the best candidate for the times we are living in. Like President Bill Clinton I personally believe that Hillary Clinton is THE best candidate for president. I know she has our country's best interest at heart.. I know she will work hard on my behalf and yours. I like what she has outlined with regards to getting our troops out of Iraq, her health program her economic package... I can forgive her her imperfection as I am an imperfect woman too. One candidate is not evil and the othr goo, one is just ready and the other is not.

Do you all really think that in this day and age people are really going to elect a black president?
Well I can guarentee you this Ernesto.. Long before they elect a hispanic one..
The popular vote is going for Obama even if you count Florida and Michigan. He has won heavily in all of the caucus states, so unless you are going to not count the voters from Iowa, Nevada, American Samoa, Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Minnesota, North Dakota, and half of Texas voters (all except Nevada won by Obama) the popular vote is clearly breaking in his favor.
Thanks Lori Campbell for thinking logicaly and critically.Let me add that it will be Bill Clinton, riding back innto OUR White House on Hillary's skirt-tails where we all will have to revisit a convicted liar back in the Oval Office, with or without cigar,-where he harmed all of us and a young lady's life because "I could". Do we really need a Godfather running the place and doing more Columbia/NAFTA "deals"? Hillary too, pushed NAFTA according to the then-senator of Indiana who fought the Clintons" tooth and nail." I'm a "white" 75 yr old male, voted Dem since 1954 because they were for the poor and disenfranchised. Now I suspect Bill, with Gov Rendell helped arrange the early lack of voting capacity in Philadelphia when working people tried to vote before going to work. Neither Bill nor Hillary evidences much concern for labor or the poor; fundamental Democrat Party and Christian values. They'll either lose or else throw the election to Bush-three/McCain. If Obama isn't nominated, he should run Independent.
Clinton says she raised 10 million in 24hrs since the election... The AP and other news agencies report that its 3 million... The Clinton campaign can't even do simply math or perhaps it's an issue with the truth again.
Hillary did not win Texas- it was a two step process giving weighted delegate values based on voter participation in both steps. Barack Obama garnered more delegates, making him the winner. The media fails to report this fact. Also, the "Ditto-Heads", at the behest of their substitute brain, Rush Limbaugh, have given false votes to Hillary in each contest. He urged the Pennsylvanians in the same way that he urged his listeners before the March contests in Texas and Ohio, to cross over so that Hillary would be kept in the race. In that way, John McCain can get on with campaigning for the general, while our chosen nominee, Barack Obama is tied up with the scheming Clintons.
Hillary Clinton has no legitimate claim to this nomination for so very many reasons. She got the help from Ditto-Heads. And, sadly, many PA voters went with the name brand vs. the unknown candidate. While nearly every newspaper and union had endorsed Barack Obama, voters believed Hillary in her ads and on the stump. After seeing how easily untruths rolled out of her mouth in the debate, I have to admit that she really does it so well that people with less information could be, and were fooled. Snippets of info from 10-second ads do not provide enough content to make an informed decison. That so many of my fellow union workers went aginst the union endorsements is really a puzzle to me though. I choose to blame it on the Clinton name, and her powers of deception, rather than attributing it to race. Most of the interviews I saw today were PA white males who said they went for the name they knew, Clinton. But each one said that they would vote for Barack Obama in a heartbeat for the general.
Last, I am so sickened that Hillary is once again dredging up Florida and Michigan. While I feel sad that some people there are upset, they have to consider all the facts, and defer to fairness. Many people did not go to the polls, knowing their vote would not count anyway. A revote which would have changed the rules from an open primary to a closed one could not be considered legitimate. Any option that would have altered and thus skewed the vote in favor of either candidate was and is unacceptable. Those states need to hold those responsible accontable, and not the candidates. Hillary Clinton cannot change the rules midstream after acknowledging on air that the elections were not valid at the time. And for the poster who said that Hillary didn't get to campaign either, this argument is preposterous. Have you forgotten that those states moved up their primaries? Barack Obama was a relative unknown at that stage of the race. Who in either of those states could say that they did not recognize Hillary Clinton by face or name?
I pray that the leaders (superdelegates) of our party will wake up and commit for the sake of all of us. Please don't let us hear Hillary on the news one more time claiming that, "I've won more votes". Preserve the integrity of our process. God bless the USA.
Simon, trying to imply that Clintons are black? They will say anything to any group. Character is not her forte.
Duck, she is under fire and Bill is playing with a cigar.
To Boomerang:
You say it is illegal to accept money from companies and for us to google it than not a paragraph later you are saying that Hillary took money from oil companies, really! Do you think about the ridiculousness of this...Do you think you might not see all that is there about both candidates? I guess politics like love is blind!
I am a third generation Dem but as a patriotic American if HRC wins the Democratic nomination, I will campaign and vote for McCain.
Here's why.
The Clintons have taken $15 million (w/ ano 20 on account) from the Emir of Dubai. This while HRC sat in the US Senate. Dubai is a repressive antisemitic anti Israel oligarchy and no friend of the US. Nor does the Emir give away money out of the goodness of his heart. He owns the Clintons. Now HRC announces that she wants to include the United Arab Emirates under the same security umbrella as Israel and that she will "obliterate Iran" is it attacks her patrons. This is not influence peddling. It's treason.
I'm always amused how many of Barack's supporters have so many negative posts about Hillary. If they were playing, as thought by their messiah, a new kind of politics would they rather say positive about their candidate of choice?
Over focus without homework will prove to be extremely costly to this country.
We are riding on the billion dollar wagon as time goes through this present administration. Homework on candidates is a critical process and listening to all of the ping- ponging that goes between these candidates may be big sport but the game is a greater force to loose. This country doesn't have time have a "president in training" when years of experience are the basis to manage the type of problems we are facing. Stating we need change is ridiculous when that statement content refers to old politics. Rest assured preaching change may be effective to get followers but the way politics are done are not instantly changing bases on who walks into the White House following an election.
If
most clinton supporters are quite abrasive while the other camp gives logical
arguments. It sounds like you are annoyed that Obama is even running at all,
like it is an insult or disrespect that he is challenging a WHITE WOMAN for nomination. Seems you all have being disillusioned to accept that Hillary is entitled to the presidency.
I agree entirely with Lori Campbell. I am also a 50 year old white woman, and yes, it would be great to have the chance to vote for the first female US president, but Hillary Clinton is not that woman. I've lived in the UK for the past 13 years, and it scares me to see some of the similarities between Ms Clinton and Maggie Thatcher.
I understand that some people are afraid that Obama doesn't have the experience needed for the job, but neither has he become jaded, pandering, and, yes, corrupt in the way that Hillary's generation of politicians have.
I wish that people would have the guts to admit that the US media is, by and large, biased toward Clinton, despite the fact that she is behind in this contest. If racism isn't at least partly responsible, I'd love to know what is.
We don't have much time to plan our strategy, as democrats, to beat McCain and start to undo these past years of evil. If Clinton cares about America, she'll do the right thing and dump the ego. Surely she'd prefer to bow out with a bit of grace, rather than be forced out, kicking and screaming, ala 'Lady' Thatcher. Maybe then she can use the best bits of her years of experience to ensure we win this election.
It is very evident there is deep seeded bigotry in the USA. People don't even acknowledge the extent of their bigotry and that's amazing. Everything works according to God's divine plan whether it is an individual or nation. Everything that is put out, will come back to you. There is so much hypocrisy in America, that it's going to take something profound to change our hearts and minds. Just as Rome fell, the USA will fall if people do not start realizing the most damage being done to us comes from the inside not other countries. Nobody wants to really say that the reason Barack didn't win PA is because he is a black man. Nobody wants to say the reason this contest goes on is because he is a black man and no wants to say the reason the DNC is hesitant to support, wholeheartedly, Barack is because they know the deep seeded racial hate in America is very real and alive. When no one said much about Rendall saying in no uncertain terms, Pennsylvanias would not vote for a black man under any circumstances--where was the outcry over that comment? Wright is crucified for saying America will reap what is sown. I am thoroughly convinced there is too much bigotry in America for a black president, no matter how well his character is. Some of you will throw in a bunch of nothing trying to say that I am wrong for what I wrote and Barack is the prejudice one. Before you stand on this argument, go to your dictionary and read the definition of prejudice. I have black friends who have said they always tell their children that nothing is fair in America and their children have to be twice as good and five times better than the average white in order to have average in America? Why is that? We are only 60 years from blacks not even being about to even walk on the same sidewalks as whites, yet people actually believe race doesn't play a part in this election. Race may not matter 50-100 years from now when many people have died as well as their belief system but until then, Barack has to realize, if he wants the nomination, he is NOT playing on an equal field as Hillary therefore what he does has to ALWAYS mean taking a higher road or turning his cheek. It' s just that simple. To have so much divisiveness, it's amazing how we love to stand on Christian principles. God knows each heart and is not as easily fooled and man.
Obama took 45.5% of the state. That's pretty close to HALF. Hello? He is pulling in great big numbers. Hillary did not win double digits. She won by 9.5%. They rounded it up. Doesn't seem right to round at all, when it's so close. Do you round up when it's won by a nose?
Obama took 45.8% of the state. That's pretty close to HALF. He is pulling in great big numbers. Hillary did not win double digits. She won by 9.2%. They rounded it up. Doesn't seem right to round at all, when it's so close. How do you round up when it's won by a nose? According to the math I learned in school when it is below .5, you round DOWN. Isn't 9.2% closer to 9% than 10%?
I wish the mega-rich fed bank a**holes didn't OWN the newspapers and online news reporters. It's so sad. Can someone report it right for PA, now, not next year, when it's all over.
DEMON OF RACE AND CULTURE IS STILL AS STRONG.
Personally I have never had the experience of racism and bitter cultural divide as been spoken of by the older generation, hence I have really not been sympathetic to the so called black struggle or liberation. I have always thought that it was a means of exploitation by the vocal black political leaders. Their approach has been perceived as confrontational, crude and uncivilized and so have distanced myself but was I wrong.
Looking at people like Tiger Woods, Sec Rice, Collin Powell I have always thought that your skills and hard work is your limit in life until this Pennsylvania primary election. Obama simply lost to the cultural/racial demon. It really doesn’t matter how good, how much and how far you can go or do, people won’t just move beyond the racial/cultural divide. The worst fears and elements in so many white folks were simply activated by Hillary Clinton, some powerful media block like Sean Hannity and the A BC News exploiting the “bitter” comments, the Wright ‘s sermon and such like. It is amazing how people can simply overlook Hillary’s unrepentant lying attitude. I guess it is not easy to cross over the race / cultural bitterness after all.
His message, personal life , campaign management, motivational skills, leadership excellence, funds management, his character under pressure and many more are just excellent and flawless. So they have to dig out things connected to a third party like Rev. Wright and others to try to redefine him and stop his movement. Again I say if he was a white person by now there would be no contest, the media would have recognized such an amazing contribution to the American political drama and the young new voices of change in America would by now be ringing louder and with the superdelegates singing along.
But I guess this experience is good for Obama so he can face the reality of the racial disease in American lives. He like me has been kind of aloof to the real pains and wounds in the older black generation and has always suggested a better way to go. He is about to realize that in the American political sphere it doesn't matter how personally good you are as a black man you can only go as far as some white folks want you to. How convenient is it for the Clintons to join forces with the Republicans , the powerful racial media block like Sean Hannity of Fox News and many others to play up the racial elements to brutalize Obama. That is exactly what happened in Pennsylvania. The Clintons are only a convenient tool in the hands of certain Republicans right now. When they are done with Obama they will tear her to shreds.
The black constituency will soon wake up from their dream that the Democratic party is the party of freedom when the superdelegates turn over the nomination to Hillary Clinton at the expense of Obama’s excellent performance which is according to the rules on the excuse of electability bla-bla-bla. It is all about recognizing Obama 's limitation in the general election because of the racial/cultural undertone.
Race / cultural demon is sublime, covert but real in American politics.
Senator Obama needs to confront this monster head on to save the change movement. This I believe is the major task of Change in bringing us together to change Washington ‘s game plan an albatross to good government. The movement may not move beyond this bridge if not seriously confronted.
The NC Republicans are already working up that same demon by the recent AD in the state. Ignoring this or giving weak response may be another mistake.
It is time to speak out forcefully against such maneuvers by all means and not just asking McCain to do it.
I think Obama’s campaign need a super rapid response, preemptive and counter attack machine
Why are Clinton's surrogates adding the Michigan vote totals? The whole bogus exercise of adding Florida and Michigan is one thing, but to include Michigan's totals, after their Court has ruled the vote invalid because of Constitutional issues, borders on total ignorance.
Elle,
Your comment, "92% of blacks voted for Obama because he is black", is flat out racist. It implies that Black people are not capable of or refuse to make an informed decision. FYI - about 60% of Black people supported Clinton for several months while they had the option to support Obama. They only switched to supporting Obama after Clinton started shooting herself in the foot by revealing her true nature. Her negative attacks, divisive campaign, and arrogance have simply turned off many Americans, not just Black Americans. You've also overlooked the fact that other Black candidates that have run for President have not had the support of as many Black people because they have not been as qualified, and in some cases have been just as divisive as Hilary. There are some who support a candidate just because he's Black or just because she's a woman, or just because he's a republican, etc...We've had and continue to have many issues with race and gender, and whatnot in this country and around the world. The fact that we have this opportunity for a Female President or a President of MIXED decent (that includes African) running for President is hope that we are moving beyond bigotry. I hope you join us in this movement.
One Love,
ZiN
How about an Obama/Edwards ticket? Two amazing people and John Edwards has huge support with the working class, given that he has been a huge advocate for working class rights. That is the Dream ticket, not Obama/Clinton.
A couple things...
Folks have said the Clinton years were better economically for everyone. Well, hang on for a second! They were for sure better than these Bush years for more people than not, but tens of millions of us made it all the way through those Clinton years without any dot com wads of cash because we had normal jobs and normal wages and our buying power and ability to survive with skyrocketing rents and other increasing cost of living factors made life progressively MORE difficult--just like in the Reagon and first Bush presidencies. Those years look great now only because the second Bush has given us ineptitude of historical proportions.
Other folks have said the Clintons did a lot more for black people than Obama has ever done, the implication being that Obama and all the other blacks owe something to the Clintons, like getting out of their way. Again, when compared with the Republicans, they look halfway OK, but I can recall quite clearly Clinton collaborating with the Newt Gingrich congress to dramatically slash and eliminate much-needed relief for America's poorest people across a huge array of social programs, some of which don't even exist anymore. Since black people were disproportionately poor (and are still), these mean-spirited cuts had disproportionately negative effects in black communities, in addition to their harmful effects on millions of other poor and middle class people. This 'champion of the working man/woman' stuff we're hearing from the Clintons flies in the face of the facts of the Clinton presidency.
That said, if we have to vote for HRC or McCain, lets not let our emotions about her disloyalty to party and other failings keep us from voting for her. On the other hand, lets show her what a fight really is every second until OBAMA gets the nomination! I'm 40 years old, and for the first time in my life, I have a chance to choose to vote FOR someone, not just against the greater evil. What a blessing to have his candidacy!
Yes we can!
Hahahahahahahahaahahaahhaahahahha
You have got to believe this.

said Davis, who was friendly with Palmer at the time.
"She went out and recruited Barack."

She filed petitions to get on the ballot for the spring 1996 primary,
but Obama took steps to make sure voters wouldn't get a chance to pick her.
