Obama narrows superdelegate gap
While Hillary Clinton snagged the biggest-name backer of the day, Barack Obama has reportedly added two more superdelegates to his fold.
Richard Machaceck, a Democratic National Committee member from Iowa, has declared for Obama after the Illinois senator won 16 of the 29 national convention delegates at stake in congressional district conventions over the weekend, the Des Moines Register is reporting.
And the Associated Press says US Representative Ben Chandler of Kentucky, grandson of a former two-time governor of the Bluegrass state, is supporting Obama as well.
Clinton is hoping that the endorsement of North Carolina Governor Mike Easley might lead to a couple other superdelegates down the line.
Obama continues to eat away at Clinton's lead among the elected officials and party leaders who are likely to determine the Democratic nominee. Less than 300 of the nearly 800 superdelegates have yet to declare their preference. Obama already leads in total delegates and total popular vote.

What many seem to not understand is that Rev. Wright is actually a Clinton operative. The speech last night was organized by people who work for the Clinton campaign.
http://www.nydailynews.com/opinions/columnists/louis/index.html
Wright has been unhappy with Senator Obama for over 2 years now since Senator Obama began distancing himself from him. Senator Obama said almost 2 years ago that Wright's sermons were "rough" and that he could not "agree" with some of the content. In an interview in 2007 Wright expressed dismay that he was being left out of Senator Obama's campaign.
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/03/06/us/politics/06obama.html
The media continues to try to suggest that somehow Senator Obama and Wright are the same person. Nothing could be further from the truth. This is simply a distraction to keep the focus off the real issues like the wars, the economy, health care and illegal immigration. A fine example of this is the inane gas tax holiday idea that has been put forth by Clinton and McCain. A specious idea that would do nothing for America except add to our debt in the final analysis.
When one of the Clintons is smiling as much as Hillary has been these last couple of days, you know something is up. I'd like to see how she expects to lead the Democratic party having alienated the African-American community. You know she has implicit agreements with John MCain and probably Wright to keep Senator Obama out of the White House. This is the way the Clintons do business. Wake up America. You gave us a 2nd term for George Bush, which we have lived to regret.. Don't live to regret a third term for the Clintons with all their shady cronies, and impeachents, disbarrments, Special Prosecutors, etc etc..
Hillary and the media tried hard to slow Obama’s momentum down but the super-delegates just keep on leaning toward Obama.
Maybe the super-delegates like Obama’s deportment?
Thats one thing I like about him.....he just seems more respectable.
Oh, yes ... we cannot have the Clintons back in the White House. As a Democrat I absolutely do not want them back. Divisive, exclusive, scandal-prone, and self-serving. We have the chance to 'turn the page' and we ought to do it. Obama came along just when we needed him and it most. Lastly, our country needs the character of Barack Obama who brings fresh thinking, a new vision, the brains and the desire to move us in a better direction. No more Clintons. No more Republicans. At least, not now. Not this election
Why is John McCain not being held to the same standard with John Hagee?
I WANT TO FIX HILLARY CLINTON FOR STAYING WITH BILL WHEN SHE SHOULD HAVE DIVORCED HIM OVER:
1. HIS ANTIMASTURBATION
2. HIS CHEATING ADULTERY
ALSO IM AGAINST HER NOT LISTENING TO ME ABOUT VOTING AGAINST THE ANTI POKER BILL (PHONE CALLS, LETTERS) AND RECEIVING FUNDING FROM HEALTH INSURANCE COMPANIES WHEN THEY ARE ALREADY OVERCHARGING AND AGE DISCRIMINATING. I ALSO BELIEVE LIKE JOE LIEBERMAN THAT BILL CLINTON SHOULD HAVE BEEN IMPEACHED AFTER ILLEGALLY CHEATING ON HIS WIFE.
I think you're all practicing wishful thinking. Clinton deserves to win because she knows the most and can lead this country. People need to get the blinders off and see what's going on here! Clinton deserves to win like Gore deserved to win but people were blinded - let's not have this happen again.
Obama's comments on the "gas tax" are the kind of real talk that we need.
We should have had a higher gas tax for years. Now all that money is going to "big oil" instead of R&D on alternatives.
John and Hillary are just pandering.
I'm curious, Deward Bowles, who organised the Wright speech event and how are they linked to the Clintons?
With all the dirt and the "kitchen sink" being thrown at Obama from the Clinton's, how can anyone say he can't stand up to the heat? He has not only stood up to it, he has stood up to it with dignity! This is the kind of person I want as my president. The only candidate in my opinion who is truthful, doesn't change his views because he thinks it will get him more votes, and honestly cares about the people enough to not lie to them as Hillary has done many times over. If she will lie to get primary votes, she will lie to us as president just as Bush has done for the past 8 years. She is not trustworty and don't kid yourselves, the other countries are watching this thing and have learned that about Hillary just as we have. Her words have no meaning. I don't want a president that I have to deside if what she is telling me is a lie or not, do you?
I want hilary clinton as president. she is witty and experience and she has her husband who was a dam good president. He was honest. He was a good president and when we have hilary we will have two presidents in one. I agree with hilary and mccain on the gas tax. eliminating it for the summer. we have a gas tax for the state as well and maybe we should eliminate the tax on gas completely and up the tax on cigerettes. Obama should not be running at all. He is not honest. From Pam who is a government worker.
Bill clinton knows me from my yahoo 360 page and playing games with on itsyourturn.com
PLEASE - can we get some thing to turn off that 'cat ate the canary' smile
of hillary. When I see that smile I check my wallet AND look in the mirror
to see if there is a knife stuck in it.... She don't care who gets knifed
just so she gets the votes............I'm 4 the big "O" ~~~~ but if she sneaks in
well ,,,, WON'T be any choice but to vote for McCain - -- DO NOT WANT
a DOUBLE DEALING @#$^*^%@*)(&& in the White House. SHE does NOT tell the truth (Sniper fire) for one and a long list of other untruths BOTH from
her & her other half - When is sex not sex - just ask Bill >>>>>>>
Oh yes- I'm Democ., 72 years young and just retired from being a L.E.O.
As an African American, I am pleased Sen. Obama has severed his relationship with the double-crossing Rev. Wright. I wouldn't be surprised if we discover that the Clintons sent a helicopter to get Pastor Wright off his cruise ship and paid him for his performance! It wouldn't be the first time. Take Rev. Butts in Harlem Sen. Clinton pushed through over a million dollars in earmarks for his church a month prior to his endorsement of her. People need to think. There's a reason why the "poverty pimps" are backing Sen. Clinton. If Sen. Obama wins the nomination and the presidency they lose their paychecks. They can't talk about how unfairly black people are treated and hold up corporations for donations by playing the race card.Sen. Clinton knows this and is exploiting their greed..and they are selling out their future.
Hillary reminds me of the slithery creature we true hunters watch for at night in the deep woods and down by the waters! A belly crawling snake to put it bluntly.
Hillary Clinton is the biggest phony I have ever seen. Yes she has more experience, that is why she knows how to lie better than Obama. She continues to lie to the American people and thats what really bothers me at a core about her. I don't like McCain, but he at least does not lie like Clinton. She is just power hungry, and I respect her husband, but I do not respect her.
If the super delegates overturn the peoples decision, then I hope that McCain wins. The people's choice is more important than those of "higher" power. We need to remember what our forefathers said about listening to the people. I pray that Obama is our next President.
Barack will ride it out, as he always does - with grace and dignity. Something we so badly need in this country.
Everyone is trying to secondguess Rev. Wright, who is doing what he is doing for his own reasons. It might even work to Barack's benefit in the end. These issues are broad and have needed airing for a long time. This might not seem the best time, but then we are only human, what looks smart to us is sometimes rather shortsighted and God knows better. I am SO glad we can trust in a God Who Sees, a God Who Knows, etc.
Meanwhile, the rest of us can do the best we can, phonebanking, talking to friends, erasing the erroneous stuff with just plain 'he's a great guy - have you read his book' 'he's brilliant - have you read his book' 'he's trustworthy - have you read his book' (actually, books - but the autobiography is so revealing in terms of his character and consistency.
So, folks, there's a good day ahead - truth will out, right will win in the end. We must believe it and keep working.
More shenanigans from the Clintons -- The GOP will win back Congress with this

I am a 70 year old white woman who follows these election campaigns closely. I have seen the distractions, the witch haunting, fault findings, the negative ads giving Osama Bin Laden a free ride in our medias and disregarding the hurt of the families of those 9/11 victims. I make this honest conclusion that the Rev Wright thing, the Clintons are behind it all. As a result, I am disappointment of her the way she behaves. I cannot tell the difference between her and a prostitute. From today onwards, I give my support to Obama. His attitude and character impresses me a lot. He is the one to lead this nation, Hillary cannot do it. The world is changing and Bill is far behind time. I CALL ON EVERY AMERICANS TO BE BEHIND OBAMA AND IGNORE THOSE DISTRACTIONS FROM THE HILLARY AND MCCAIN'S
CAMPS. GOD BLESS U ALL
Before the presidential primaries, Hillary Clinton historically shied away from responding to personal attacks, whether it comes from sexist Manhattan firefighters or Chris Matthews' daily disparagement of her on MSNBC's Hardball. Her campaign briefly cut off relations with NBC when another MSNBC reporter, David Schuster, said the Clintons had "pimped-out" daughter Chelsea as part of their election strategy. Over the course of several debates, however, her political reflexes sharpened to the point where nowadays, no personal attack has gone unpunished. (Accusations involving racebaiting seem to be an exception.) During a contentious April 8th radio interview, Clinton took NPR reporter Michele Norris to task for asserting that she was trying to "win ugly".
Yet Clinton has demured so far in implicating Karl Rove as one of the brains behind the G.O.P.'s covert operation to help Obama defeat her. Karl Rove established 24 Republicans for Obama operations in "Red States" where "cross-over Voting" has resulted in Obama Wins. After being targetted with offensive direct mailers in Ohio, she accused her rival of tactics "straight out of the Rove playbook", but has never mentioned the impact of the crossover voting scheme in the "Red States", part of the reason her opponent is still far ahead of her in the delegate count. As for the rest of the Bush Administration, all Clinton has mustered to date on the subject is her oft-repeated statement, “They’re not going to surrender the White House voluntarily." Last spring, she suggested that another terrorist attack against the United States would inevitably play into the hands of the G.O.P.
Vague as they sound, those last two remarks may prove prophetic in the event the Obama strategy fails and she goes on to win the Democratic nomination. The implications of a female president for American foreign and domestic policy are profound, especially when the candidate has promised greater oversight of corporations, federally sponsored job programs and improving women's human rights around the world. Such initiatives create jitters not only for Wall Street concerns but for the Pentagon, the CIA and the State Department. Officials accused of breaking U.S. laws or violating the Geneva Conventions could ostensibly be arrested and prosecuted by a Clinton-run Justice Department.
And if that's not enough to keep Bush appointees lying awake deep into the night, their long-running wink-wink with the ayatollahs in Iran, the Pakistani Inter-Services Intelligence and the Saudi royal family would likely be curtailed if a woman were to take over in the West Wing. The Saudis especially have reason to fret now that they and their counterparts in Kuwait and the U.A.E. have started buying up huge stakes in U.S. banks. In the eyes of the oil producing countries, Condolleeza Rice and Nancy Pelosi are one thing, a Clinton White House quite another.
Re: Hopeful 08
LOL
it's Peter Paul, not Ron Paul. Ron Paul is the libertarian who is currently the only one running against mccain despite nobody would really know it from the media. Peter Paul is the felon who wanted to start a company with Stan Lee (Stan Lee Media) and in order to get Bill Clinton to work for the company for a year, Peter Paul basically needed to pay for an event called "The Tribute" for Hillary Clinton's Senate Run. Peter Paul claims all the money he gave to pay for that he was duped out of and technically it is a cmaign donation. It totals 1.2 million but 2000 is the max one person can give thus making it fradulent. Then when Clinton was asked where this money went, it was hidden in a bunch of non federal bank accounts. This is all hypot allegations at this point though. Still, it won't look good to go to court in october if you are the nominee.
One thing that has been completely ignored by the media: Hillary Clinton is doing everything within her reach to make sure that Obama is not the next president of the US. It's clear that she can not overcome the delegates count. Remember John Kerry? The Clintons didn't help much either. The strategy is clear: let McCain win and compete again in four (if McCain messes up, which is not very difficult given the economy and Iraq) or even in eight years. She can then say: I told you Obama wasn't going to win, now it' s my turn!
Senator Obama is a good man and an exemplar for black men. It is sad that he is forced to defend himself for comments he did not even make.
Obama's ex-pastor is a selfish man who is exploiting Obama's name for his 15 minutes of fame. Nobody gives two cents about Wright otherwise.
It is not possible for Clinton to make up a 100 delegate deficit with only 300 undecided superdelegates to work with. She would need to win 200 to 100. She didn't win that big in PA. The remaining supers are going to split, but go slightly towards Obama as the winner of the pledged delegate race.
I found it extremely odd that after all these weeks the Reverand Wright would suddently pick this particular time to feel the need to respond to previous criticisms regarding his sermons. Also, since Hillary Clinton is attempting to steal the nomination by utilizing the media with their constant polls and analysis, I've simply put 2 and 2 together and come to the conclusion that this is somehow all connected. When the smoke clears I know Obama will still be standing and more than deservant of his place as our next President of the United States of America.
It is a very sad commentary that some candidates on both side of the party lines would stoop to this magnitude and it is a very sad commentary that at man who is suppose to be of the cloth would take the bait.
Is it me or is it difficult to get a feel of who or what Hillary is all about. I don't see or hear a real person. I see a calculated response to everything. It seems more about winning then helping get america to a better place.
Meanwhile Barack at the Rezko Trial... that cannot be SPUN?
There was a surprise at the Tony Rezko trial today. The Government's star cooperating witness, Stuart Levine, said Barack Obama was at a party for Iraqi-born billionaire Nadhmi Auchi at Rezko's house. [More...]
Stuart Levine, the prosecution's star witness, said he and Obama were at a party Rezko threw at his Wilmette mansion on April 3, 2004, for Nadhmi Auchi, a controversial Iraqi-born billionaire who Rezko was trying to get to invest in a South Loop real-estate development.
Auchi, now a citizen of the United Kingdom, has faced criminal charges in Europe. He also figured in the revocation of Rezko's bond early this year after attempting to wire him more than $3 million.
... The Rezko party in 2004 was designed to induce Auchi to pour money into the South Loop investment. Obama's presence at the party was not previously known. At the time, Obama was fresh off a surprise win in the Illinois Democratic primary for U.S. Senate and was riding a crest of national publicity.
Background on Auchi and the bond violation is here.
Obama's spokesman Bill Burton previously has said Obama doesn't recall ever meeting Auchi. They, amay have briefly met as Obama was leaving a meeting at the Four Seasons hotel when he briefly stopped by a private room where Auchi was being honored at an event.
According to ABC News:
In a court hearing in Chicago, prosecutors detailed a $3.5 million wire transfer from a bank in Beirut, Lebanon that they said was moved through a series of accounts until it reached Rezko or some of his relatives who had posted property for his bond.
...According to the court filings, the money came from a company, General Mediterranean, owned by a British-based Iraqi billionaire, Nadhmi Auchi, who was convicted in France on fraud charges.
The filing says when Auchi was unable to obtain a visa to visit the United States in 2005, Rezko intervened and "asked certain Illinois government officials" to appeal the State Department's ruling.
The officials who Rezko approached are not specified. Sen. Obama had just taken office as a U.S. senator in 2005, the same year he obtained Rezko's help in the purchase of his home.
Most of you are complete idiots who probably voted for Bush twice!
Obama is a greenhorn, phony, elitist 'False Messiah". You are thinking that he will cleanse you all. If Obama gets in, I will point to YOU when the s--t hits the fan just as I pointed to YOU when Bush began the destruction of the Americam middle class.
I, for one, just may end up voting for a Repulican in a Presidential race for the first time in my life.
And hey, you jerk, who is probably 19 and wet behind the ears... quit disguising yourself as a 70 year old white woman who just may be a prostitute and can't write very well, either.
Clinton needs to win as much as America needs to descend into family dynasties.
It does not matter if she is book smart and has a plan for every policy issue. She's run an absolutely poorly executed campaign, grossly wasted hundreds of millions of campaign dollars, is currently operating in deficit spending, and has three uncooperative factions within her own campaign (Clinton staffers, her staff while first lady, and current senate staffers).
She had no plan for post Feb 5. She's overseen two major campaign shake ups. She has overtly lied to pretend that she was in real physical danger. She has publicly said that she opposes the Columbian deal, but her husband earned $800K to push the deal and her top adviser was paid $300K for the same deal.
Is this presidential? Rev Wright has said some tough stuff. Obama did not speak those words. Hillary lied about Bosnia. Not her pastor, not her adviser, she bold faced lied about it four times.
Judge Obama for what he's said and done, not those around him. If we applied the same guilt by association metric to the Clintons, Jesus they would be in jail already.
Barak Obama is everything he has always said he is ~ intelligent ~ compassionate~willing to confront adversity ~ honest~ forthright ~ The question is: Are we ready for a president who can and does articulate his beliefs, dreams, and feelings and then backs it all up with his actions ?Are we ready to elect someone who demonstrates his levels of wisdom ~ integrity ~ and grace? Let us pray we are!! I am willing to do anything possible to help him in his endeavors.
I'm so glad Senator Obama disowned Reverend Wright. It was necessary. I was stunned by some of the things he said. Barack Obama is a good, honest man. Wright is mad because he wasn't invited to be part of Barack's campaign, in my opinion. He wanted to hurt his chances.
God's speed, Senator Obama.

Ugh. Comment, comment, comment. What if I told you that Obama needs on 42% of each of the remaining contests, including that percentage of remaining SuperD's, to lock up the nomination before the convention?
Well, it's true -- and in his BIG PA loss last week, he still garnered 45.6%! Hillary, please move those chairs to the other side of the boat.
Deward Bowles...A huge thank you. Intellegent and factual.
So all youi Clintonians....what about the Peter Paul/ Clinton Fraud Trial?
Whoever suggested the idea about needing IQ's to vote... I love it. ...or at least a G
This whole primary saddens me...I see an honest man being torn apart by the Washington insiders-the Clintons and Repulicans working together to try to stop Obama. No wonder Hillary said she would stick it out to the convention and was just waiting for Obama to implode...she had a plan and now she just stands there and smiles as her plan unfolds. The American people will get what they deserve if they don't wake up and see what "Washington" is doing to keep an honest man out. I will keep supporting Obama and hopefully there are enough voters who will see the goodness in a man who what he wants us to accomplish the best we can.
The real forgiveness that Hillary should have offered for the Bosnia stint is about the fact that she got wrong on 5accounts:
1/ She lied
2/ She lied for a very serious matter : foreign policy ,reckoning that her credentials
were a bit weak ,she used the lie to vindicate the (wrong) fact that she was very competent in foreign policy matters.
3/ She repeted the lie several times, quite a length with a lot of details beefing up 2 above, whereas she had plenty of time to correct her first version....proving for those still having doubts that she knew what and why she was doing it!
4 / The WORST part :she admitted to have mispoke ONLY when she couldn't do otherwise ,because she got CAUGHT through a video! Lie could be a tool sometimes as long as you don't get caught.( poor judgement of the risks she took)
5/ The Consequence : No true apologies for the full meaning of the "mispoke" ...because it was just too much and she should have quit.
Question : Why is it that NO MEDIA have ever reported this story with its true components ? The Wright ,bitter , cling etc... pale in comparison!
you don't get caught !
How was B.O. ‘s career launched?
With the help of Rev. Wright’s church?
How can he so ungrateful to Rev. Wright?
it is about that everyone realize how incompetent that hillary is by not defending the democratic party and the damage this causing the whole campaign issue.everyone should realize that obama is getting criticism he does not deserve.hillary seems to be imune to her faults which are more than their is time for to write about. go president obama.
Hi, My name is Barack Obama, I strongly denounce my mentor of 20 long years and the man I consider my spiritual adviser of 20 long years, Reverend Wright..... I make the right choices.... because I know what I am doing..... oh and it's not my fault, Hillary is a racist too........ Reverend Wright was going to be my running mate, I guess I will just choose Louis Farrakhan now instead for VP....... GD America!!!
VOTE FOR HILLARY NOW BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!!!
So many of you people posting here seem to be associated with Obama campaign . It is better to discuss the issue at hand, than imagine some conspiracy from other campaigns.
Wright is a Clinton operative???? It is going to snow in July and it will probably be her fault as well!!! Wake up! It has been interesting for me to see how much people hate Hillary Clinton and see her as deceiving, caniving, etc. I don't like president Bush but I don't HATE him! She should have left Bill Clinton when he cheated on her? Maybe now we would be tearing her apart for doing so!
Hi , Sometimes i wonder if there is a difference between James Earl Ray and Rev. Wright. James killed Martin Luther King before he became the 1st Black president and now Wright is killing Obama's aspirations with his comments. Of course, James denied that he killed King and Wright will deny that he was the cause of Obama's defeat. What do you think?
The Democrats had the white house won until they decided to run two non electable candidate.
Helllllooooo!!!
This is your courtesy wake up call. Now I know its early and some of you may be a little fuzzy but try to wake up. Were you all sleeping during the last Clinton Administration. Did we not let Bin Laden get away, did we not let health care go down the drain, did we not let real issues get ignored while the Media played over and over and over the stain on the blue dress hearings? And is McCain not in favor of a lot of Bush policies, did he not say he would keep troops in a lost area for a really, really long time. And everyone's complaining how Bush has ruined the economy, are we still going to drive this broken down clunker down the highway until its dead? Everyone keeps saying (I don't care what party you belong to) how the govt. is always letting this country down. Pat, sorry Clinton does not deserve to win she may have lived in the White House but that doesn't impress me. Every President has advisers they listen to and if you think that just because Obama might not own the team he doesn't know how to play the game your dazed and confused. I want someone not tainted by Washington, I want fresh ideas and I want change. I already know how the other two candidates will ruin my future, I want to see if there really is something to Obama, someone who catches my attention when he speaks and makes me believe!! I'm tired of Hillarys double talk and Washington two step.McCain is going to drive her in the broken down clunker to the dance.
Google news is so biased. Even the title of this article "Obama narrows superdelaget gap???? He is leading in pledged delagets so shouldn't it say "Obama widens superdelegate gap?
I'll not vote for Clinton even if she is the Democratic nominee. Obama is the person I wnat to vote for. I may consider voting for McCain if she is the nominee.
I am staying neutral for the time being.
Why can't people just admit what they are?
For the first time in this nations history we will be forced to vote for a 100% socialist regardless of party.
Learn what Socialist means and look at socialist countries agendas and programs. Socialism is bankruptcy and the national debt is the perfect evidence to what socialism (Social programs) creates.
I'm surprised so many people are ready to give up more rights in the hopes of another failed government socialism program like healthcare.
Just call yourselves Socialists not Democrats and certainly not Capitalists.
Everything pastor Wright said was correct. Beautifully presented and absolutely on the mark. He was speaking exactly how Americans of African origin experience and continue to experience in this country. The sooner whites recognize that the better chance they have to improves their lives. If whites vote for Hillary because of these speeches its their loss, because Obama is about to make a fundamental change to put power back to the people not special interests. If somehow the dislike to Wrigtes speech is stronger, if somehow whites want to continue the status quo.. so be it we will all lose. It is European Americans who have more to lose as we African Americans know how to live under so much adversities.
Why isn't the mainstream media giving as much attention to the super delegates Senator Obama has picked up this week as they are the one outgoing and unpopular governor of NC who is backing that shrill, lying, Hillary? It wouldn't surprise me at all that the Clintons are behind the latest Rev. Wright dust up. The Clintons will stoop to any level to get what they want and they are dangerous. Wake up America.....you think we've had it bad with the Bush presidency? If Hillary gets elected you ain't seen nothing yet.
The presumptive right wing nominee, was he ever tried for crimes against humanity? I mean, you know for dropping millions of pounds of naplam and agent orange on millions of still suffering innocent Vietnamese peasants who survived. How does this man sleep at night?
Batreader #9 -- Do not know Bowles story -- but I think the NAACP link is also interesting as its leader, Julian Bond, a reflection of his increasing insignificance, is also, shamefully a Hillery backer.
It is just south of insanity that anyone truely believes that Rev Wright reflects the attitudes of Senatory Obama. It is also simple common sense to recognize that a neophyte to Chicago, seeking a career in politics, would find a base that was receptive to his aims and supportive of his aims within Trinity Church.
Just as the fella Ayles, the former weatherman is pillaried for deeds no long past -- what is the politicial relevance, other than an un Christain and un generous heart, of castigating a man and his family who now provide good and responsible service to the community in which they reside.
It is precisely the sort of button pushing, leveraging issues wholely irrelevant to the task and needs at hand that play into that hands of such right wing apologists as David Brooks, who wanly proposed in the NYTimes recently, that the politics of the future is all about nitches, little petty tribes, grubbing for one more morsel than then next.
Obama is a good, great man even, he is the person -- notice person, not male, not female -- but person we need now. It is not about sex, it is not about race, it is about wisdom.
And the issue of wisdom, if we extrapolate from the record that, and the record is what counts, Iraq -- wanted to appear tough, did not read, nor anyone on her highly paid, presumably wise staff, read the national security initiative, amazing all those white, working class stiffs whose sons and daughters are dying and towns being squeezed economically don't hold her toes to the fire on her vote: then there was her magnificient failure on health care -- personality, my way or the highway attitude here; failed middle east peace initiative -- Hillary you were there you say, cheek to jowl with the man you love, an initiative that was 4 parts show and one part substance; failed economic policy -- yes, failed, the structural failings pertaining to regulation and oversight of the economy were as out of wack during the Clinton years as in the Bush years -- remember the bubble, it popped as bubba exited the door, and Alan the Wizard Greenspan as owned to sitting by the door as the housing debacle unfolded; the list could be much longer of course, but how about simply the management of her campaign, but for button pushing, a compliant and dim witted press, and the residue of cultural dysfunction that we hopefully will escape from with an Obama victory, she would be no where -- her campaign, apart for women who wish to see a women, any women -- virtuous or not, as president, her campaign would have tanked long ago.
barack should fight his paster ,hillery and that mean machine/media you need to let the devil come out, and don"t let what happen to vic-p gore in fla. thank god for white blood/ they got guts and i have 1/3 in me............>
blossom
Where have you been Pat April 29, 08 02:52 PM?
You must to be kidding, right?
You need to get the blinders off and see what's going on here!
Bush, Clinton, Bush and Clinton? I don't think so...
NO Hillary~~No, No. No.
Obama 08 & 12
Well, I now think I have heard it all. Clinton and Wright in bed together. Is there nothing the Obama camp won't do to try and turn shift away from the deficiencies in their candidate? God help this country if Hillary isn't elected president!
I believe that Bill has finally found a way to run this country for his third term.
Have we not realized how politics works? You must be a shady character, have a questionable work ethic, and lets not forget, you must be an extremely good liar to win office
As much as I would love to see B.O win, I believe that McCain will take it, only because the Dem party is tearing each others to pieces!!
Hillary has no real record of service that equates to being as she calls it "vetted" or however you spell that word. She has been a carpetbagging Senator for 8 years!! Does that make her experiance anymore than Obama's?? I don't think so! She claimed to have been under sniper fire in the former Yugoslvic republics...then she claims it was a mistake to say that. How do you make a mistake like that??
If there is a 3am phone call in the White House I am sure I don't want someone who claimed to be under sniper fire, but wasn't answering it!
Will someone please explain to me the experience that Hillary Clinton has been bragging about? Does she consider her 8 years as First Lady as experience in leading government?
Vive Obama.
But I have to respond to a post. You just don't impeach a president for cheating on his wife. That is ridiculous, besides that is not why they wanted to impeach him, but rather because he lied in front of the supreme court when asked about it. He lied to the american people.
Apart from that, Hillary has got to quit, she is just stalling Obama, and we all know he will be the next president of the USA. We can feel it, right?
Oh yes something else to add.
For all of you out there voting for Obama or Hillary, if your candidate doesn't make it, please don't be as foolish as to vote republican. Hillary and Obama do have similar views, and eventhough I think Obama's approach is far better, I don't think that Hillary's is even nearly as bad as McCain.
Democrats ought to vote democrat.
I can not believe there is even a discussion about Wright and Obama, Wright means nothing to this election, Wright has nothing to do with Obama, Wright has become a journalistic obsessive compulsive behavioral display that is frankly embarrassing to me as a U.S. citizen. The media is spinning nothing about nothing and can not seem to let it go. Clinton started this smear campaign and why the media insists on keeping it going is beyond me. I say we boycott any new media that even mentions Wrights name. But who would that leave, Obama will win the nomination, but those of you who think Clinton is going to bow out in June, ie Pelosi or Dean are very mistaken. She's pathologically incapable of quitting with grace, she is a narcissistic, borderline personality disorder and that is your worst nightmare. No one deserves the presidency of the U.S. until we the people say they deserve it.
Obama will do well more than Bill Cliton who thinks that America Democrat is for him and family property for keep.
After His wife Hillary ...i think that suppose to be a Man's name..where did she got this name from ...as i was saying before this name Hillary got me wondering .Cliton will want her daughter Chelsea to take over the white house from her mother, as you can see they are already grooming her.
Not this time ,it is Obama time and Democta year ... we should not allow the Republican this time, despite what Shawn Hannity is doing or saying on FoxNews to make sure the Republica wins again..DEMOCRAT UNITE.
God bless Obama and America

I'm so proud of Obama after he forcefully put down wright. He tried to ignore the rhetoric, but small wright forced his hand and Barack had no choice. I knew Obama would stand up to him and rightly so. Those not supporting Barack, should listen to him with an open mind. He is what this country needs to get us back on the right path. Those who think that Barack is easy prey for McCain in the fall will be surprised! Don't cut him short - he's smarter than you think. He is a class act and a rare honest man - make your vote count - what the heck - you might find that he is heading the country in the right direction and that jobs, money, insurance and peace are starting to flow, among the American continent again. Make your vote count!
Pat should read the Wall Street Journal article "Clinton Foundation Secrets" (April 25, '08) and see who's really wearing blinders.

~~He was honest. He was a good president.~~
I agree he was a good president. But honest? Who said this: "I did not have sex with that woman." I can give you a list a mile long of all the women I wish I could have denied having sex with.
He fizzled out in the end with his last minute pardons and lack of good judgement. But the most eloquent president I have ever heard speak.
Now Hillary--she is like a pre-programmed robot that says everything convenient for the audience of the hour. She pimps any idea she can to turn a cheap vote. A politician of the worst ilk. She is so desperate now that she is all over Obama like a mongoose fighting a cobra.
I agree the gas tax summer reprieve is a cheap trick. And shame on Hillary for joining McCain in denouncing Obama for opposing the silly idea.
Have you no honor woman??? Am looking forward to a "clean" campaign by Obama and McCain. It's still possible.
Is there no way we can help America and ourselves ---by standing up for the first inspiring --enlightening voice that has come to us in this generation --- Obama reminicent of Lincoln and Kennedy ----how can we not expose the slithering --sneaky underhanded Clinton machine ---they have more scandals in their closet ---why is no one talking about these ??? --do we just sit around and let her destroy our chance of a decent --good leadership??
It is VERY obvious what is going on with this Rev. Wright character. The Clinton camp sees that "Black America" can see where he is coming from. They want Obama to come out and say something negative to tarnish his credibility with Black America. Obama has consistently won 90+% of the Black vote.
Clinton will do anything to try to win this election. As a long-time Democrat and African American, I can honestly say that even if Hillary steals the Democratic nomination, I WILL NOT VOTE FOR HER.
***Clinton deserves to win because she knows the most and can lead this country. ***
And what makes you think she knows the most? Because she's the most vocal and whines the most?
I fear what this woman would do as commander in chief. She's already declared that she'll obliterate an entire country, and she fantasizes about sniper fire. Maybe she wants to go down in history as the president who started WWIII.
No Hillary Has no honor. What she & Bill do have is $15 million from the Emir of Dubai & a plan to obliterate Iran if it threatens the United Arab Emirates.
What is appalling is the Clintons released tax returns showing they had made $100 million reportable income in 7 years of which about 20% purportedly came from their "writings." (Leave alone the Saudi contributions to the Clinton foundation) Shortly thereafter she "demoted" her chief strategist for dealing w/ a foreign government.
& What have we been talking about. The AA equivalent of Jerry Falwell (remember gays caused 9/11 & AIDS is God's plague.) one sentence @ a fundraiser & an aging hippy who's now a professor of education.
The Clintons have
The rest came fWha
The vitriol from all sides grows tiresome. I have no reason to attack the supporters of any candidate, as I trust they sincerely believe in the one they support. The
spin doctors will distort any and all comments into what was not intended by the speaker. We don't need to add to that revolting behavior, now so much a normal part of the political process.
I do not support the participation of American troops in the Iraqi civil war, hence cannot in good conscience vote for a man I generally respect. This disagreement is no cause to hurl insults at anyone; it is a heartfelt difference in thinking.
That leaves me to choose between the Senators from NY and Illinois. I will not vote for a liar. That leaves me with one choice: Obama.
Go to google and type in "Clinton body count"
Go to google and type in "Clinton body count"
Go to google and type in "Clinton body count"
Go to google and type in "Clinton body count"
That is all.
It's clear that Obama is going to win the nomination. But I'm worried about what happens next. Hillary will have to call a cease fire, and call on her supporters to vote for Obama in November. She will have to do that clearly and unequivocally, otherwise we'll be saying hello to President McCain in January. That's the only serious question in my mind. Will she have the grace to do that?
Whats interesting to me is that Hillary said that she is just being this negative because the Republicans will be this negative in November... However, you have John McCain saying that he is dissappointed in the GOP ad attacking Obama over Writght. Is it possible that Hillary is more negative (or as she calls it, a bigger "fighter" than the Republicans? Sure seems like it...
I used to say that I could be happy with either of the Democratic candidates. No more. Clinton has shown what she's made of with how she has behaved in this campaign. Every political opening she sees, no matter how petty or irrational, she pounces on. Obama does not do this, because his candidacy is not about manipulation. It's about the country. About us, not him. And certainly not about her.
Clinton is the unelectable one--she has zero traction with independents and Republicans, and everyone knows it. Her continuing insistence that beating Obama in some large states is the same as beating McCain there is ludicrous.
Obama is the only adult candidate in this race. If he loses in November, it will be Clinton's fault for dividing the party for her own selfish ends.

"Hope would die with Obama loss
Apr. 29, 2008 12:00 AM
I first got involved in politics in 1960. Like many young people at the time, I was inspired by the eloquence and intelligence of John F. Kennedy.
When Kennedy was shot in 1963, I thought I would never see another leader like him in my lifetime. I was wrong. Barack Obama fills that vacuum - he combines the eloquence of Kennedy with the heart, soul and passion of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.
There will be a horrible fight on the floor of the Democratic National Convention in Denver this August. Democrats must ensure that the old-time politics of the Clinton machine does not defeat Obama.
Ironically, Obama is the son that Bill and Hillary wish they had. Now, they are committing infanticide.
If a sharp-tongued Hillary is allowed to bring down Obama with lies, slander and innuendo, America will have lost a historic opportunity. If the Clintons are allowed to overturn the voice of the people and bring Obama down, all the thousands of inspired young people Obama has brought into the process will retreat into the silent woodwork for another 50 years. Hillary will have killed the hopes of the old and young alike for change in this country. It will be politics as usual in Washington. Clintons Dynasty consolidation 'at any cost' even overturning Democratic Party will!
Obama inspires and motivates people - especially young people - to dream, to hope that there might be change in Washington. His words are not "just words." His words are an inspiration to millions of Americans who have long been disaffected by our political system. Obama has the ability to inspire and unite our country. America and the world need Obama.
If Hillary should happen to snare the nomination by stealth, I think we can expect four more years of George Bush war policies in the person of John McCain."

MY OBSERVATION:
The above analysis given by Floyd Johnson- (Arizona Republic News) is absolutely truth and conclusive commentary which every American will have to keep in mind and never let it get forgotten. Hope is dying and Americans expectations for new life, new politics, new international image and reputation is in demise due to what can be viewed clearly as a clear conspiracy, and sabotage against Obama for Clintons family! Its a dangerous direction for Democratic Party by by letting this careless and non directional paradigm for Americas future.
MOST REMARKABLE SCENE:
The whole world is closely watching this dirty game day and night. Smearing tactics, negativity and race issues raised by Clintons side lost the ground, then the same dynasty uses back door politics to engulf Socratics will!!? It will eat them back. The Party will collapse. The party will lose on November. Why letting Americans stay another 40 or 50 years to see another inspirational leaded like Obama, while losing the same golden politician due to such 'dirty and long lasting Party damaging politics' like these from Clintos' camp?
***************************
THE TRUTH ABOVE ALL ON HILLARY CLINTON...
HR CLINTON is just divisive, shows arrogance behavior and sense of untruth worth woman to be handled presidency. She opts better to let the Republican win rather that Obama getting into presidency. This is totally killing the Party. It will eat the party years and years before healing this hatred, negativity and jealousness and 'dirty back door politics' from Clintons' dynasty. Smearing, hatred, negativity, jealous and 'dirty back door politics' politics will always erode the party rather than building it thus diminishing all strength and hope in combating Republican's McCain on November. This means the party will definitely lose on coming general eletion. Dangerously enough all new registered members and old ones who made it due and voted in all primaries and caucuses will never turn on in the general election of November. It will be a clear collapsing for the Party and the future of the American politics.
MORE FOCUSED IDEA....
I believe that America has passed a series of changes but never like the forthcoming one if Obama wins the presidency!
He is very intelligent, well balanced ideologically, full of passion to the under privileged social classes which ensures the American society of future equality, stability, unification and racial balances. He will therefore restore the long ruined America's image to the world including balanced policies to those societies which were seen as anti-Washington such as Cuba and others. This will bridge the gaps for more stable world orders and poverty eradication to the 'isolated' countries which fueled most of these anti America ideologies and enmity which will never end if any other candidate..McCain or even Hillary gets presidency .
Unification will be clearly achieved within and abroad under Obama! He deserves all support and approval
Let us not let America collapse due to few and uninspired politicians who struggle 'at all cost' to win their political goals even if damaging the whole of America status and historical global leadership and image.

The Clintons are so devious and vengeful that they have frozen the superdelegates. Here is the fear--imagine by some awkward chance that Hillary got to the oval office and you were a superdelegate who had backed Obama! Greetings from the IRS, FBI, CIA, NSA, etc. You would be toast! How can it not be said over and over again that Bill Clinton relied on Rev Wright ( and others ) to get over the shame of the Monica scandal--go ahead, search google for bill clinton and rev wright photos, Why do we only hear of Rezkos encounters with Obama when he also has encounters with Clinton AND WITH BUSH! Rezko's a guy that plays in power circles--thats it. The reason you don't hear these things over and over is that the media too is afraid of retribution in the unlikely event that Hillary gets more power. But I see things differently. The delegate thing is already all but wrapped up, so is the logical count of popular votes, so is the number of states won. Like the wicked witch of the west, she's melting away.
It was interesting to hear on last night's TV, that the female member of the Press Club who brought about the Reverend Wright's bombastic appearances on TV, is a Hillary backer. It is so discouraging to read how many people are being misled by the media, in order to bring about a Hillary nomination. Don't our citizens realize that the corporations are seriously concerned that Senator Obama will be nominated, and if nominated - will proceed to eliminate McCain from the presidential race? If you want to continue with things as they are now (excepting, of course, the wealthy who have benefited tremendously under the current administration) your choices are either McCain or Clinton. It is sad to read and hear the lengths the three attackers (media, McCain, Clinton) have gone to, to destroy the first nominee we've had in many years who will actually work to help all of us, regardless of age, religion or race. Please don't be swayed by the false ads we are being bombarded with.
I'm glad to hear the opinions on this list. To me---could it BE more obvious who the one true President is in this lot? The fact that the fatuous media, mean-as-a-snake Hillary and wormy McCain are all pouring it on just means that the dark does not want the light to come in. I pray to God that doesn't happen. We need the light!
I would like to point out Senator Obama's unique strength and power! He has dented and crippled the "Mighty Clintonion Machine", it is now litterally dragging itself on its rims. ANY candidate who can stand up and take the vile tactics and blows by the Clintons gets my vote!!! Our higher power has His plan for America and the world and His plan does NOT include the vile and corrupt Clintons. We are being given a unique opportunity, lets not waste it!! Always remember that our Highter Power does NOT make mistakes, it is us that make the mistakes and put ourselves in danger and unsavory predicaments. Vote for Clinton and that's what we will find ourselves in even deeper. Hilliary voted for the war in Iraq, she voted to declare the Iranian Military Forces as terrorists, she recently said if Iran CONSIDERS attacking Israel, she would be able to OBLITERATE Iran. She seems pretty nuclear happy and would not hesitate to start World War III. She gives no rational thought to what she says; she has already alienated foreign countries by her threatening statements and putdowns of other leaders. Time to obliterate the Clinton's from American politics once and for all. Time for move forward toward a better and brighter America with a man of reason, character, vision, integrity, and honesty at our helm, Senator Obama!
Georgette, you must be from Binghamtonl we are not all poor white working folks.
