Clinton enlists Wilson and Plame in Iraq ad

Hillary Clinton, who focused on her healthcare plan in a campaign stop today in Oregon, is now launching a new TV ad in that state promoting her pledge to end the Iraq war.

In the spot, she enlists the imprimatur of Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame, the former US ambassador who helped blow the whistle on the Bush administration's exaggerations of Iraq's weapons program, and the former CIA operative who says her cover was blown to punish her husband.

"Ending the Iraq war means a lot to us, and that's why we're supporting Hillary," Plame says.

"Hillary Clinton has the strongest plan for bringing our troops home," Wilson adds.

Clinton has said she gave President Bush the benefit of the doubt when she voted in 2002 to authorize the war, though she has also acknowledged not fully reading the intelligence reports. Barack Obama has repeatedly hammered her over that vote, saying he showed presidential judgment by speaking out against going to war.

The May 20 primary in Oregon, which has a history of antiwar sentiment, could be Clinton's last chance to pull off an unexpected win and slow Obama's path to the nomination.
