Clinton goes on TV, Obama adds superdelegates
Hillary Clinton's blowout win in West Virginia sliced nearly 150,000 votes off Barack Obama's popular vote lead, gave her 20 of the 28 delegates at stake, and added a little lift to her fading hopes for the Democratic nomination.
She'll try to make the most of the 41-percentage-point win, making the full rounds of TV news programs this afternoon and tonight: ABC World News, CBS Evening News, CNN’s "Situation Room," Fox News, NBC Nightly News, and Noticiero Univision.
But she still faces daunting odds to catch up in the decisive delegate count. Obama has 1,885 delegates to 1,717 for Clinton, out of 2,026 needed to clinch the nomination. The number needed rose by one Tuesday when a Democrat won a special election for a congressional seat in Mississippi.
UPDATE: Clinton's campaign manager, Terry McAuliffe, said she and her top aides will make a central argument in meetings today with superdelegates and about 50 of the campaign's top finance people: "Hillary Clinton is the best one to go forward into the fall election."
On MSNBC, McAuliffe argued that Clinton now leads in the popular vote -- if the disputed primaries in Florida and Michigan are counted -- and that her win in West Virginia proves she can still get the nomination.
"If it's over, why did we win by 41 points?" he asked. "If you want to get Hillary out of the race, then beat her."
Obama, meanwhile, keeps on keeping on. He has already added two more superdelegates this morning. That makes 32 since his resounding victory in North Carolina last week.
Indiana Congressman Pete Visclosky endorsed Obama, saying in a statement: “America needs a President who offers a vision of the future comprised of sensible solutions to today's troubles. My choice is Senator Barack Obama, who promises to seek pragmatic, progressive solutions to problems like jobs, Iraq, the energy crisis, and healthcare. Barack Obama will bring people together, give them hope, spur change, and set the U.S. back on a course toward progress, prosperity, and global leadership.”
Democrats Abroad chairwoman Christine Schon Marques also announced for Obama, saying: "As a Democrat abroad, I've seen the repercussions of the Republican Administration every day, in the diminished reputation of the United States and in the lack of real leadership both at home and abroad, from the economy to the war in Iraq,” said Schon Marques. “I'm proud to be a Democrat, and proud of both our candidates. Today I pledge my support to Senator Barack Obama because I believe that he will take our country in the right direction, he will restore America's reputation, he will honor the men and women who are bravely serving our country, and he will reach out to Americans across the country and around the world."
UPDATE: The Obama campaign this afternoon announced endorsements from two more superdelegates: Wisconsin state senator Lena Taylor and Oklahoma state Senate leader Mike Morgan.

The superdelegates need to WAKE UP and smell the Republican victory in November. The Obama camp and the media are not getting it. The West Virginia landslide was due to people STILL believing in the Bible, God, Israel, God's chosen people which are the Jews. (and it doesn't sit to good for Obama to attend an anti-white, anti-jew, anti-America, church for 20 years.
Superdelegates, the Hillary fans are watching you very closely, and our voices WILL be heard. We have 50 states in this union, not 48 states. This election will NOT be stolen. West Virginia is just a starting point of what is going to happen in Kentucky and Puerto Rico. We will NOT let the media decide who we want for President.
Hillary Clinton is the MOST qualified canidate and shares many of the same belief systems as Americans.
Let's take on oldy mccain who would be over 80 years old at the end of his second term.
Tyra - Nice of you to leave out Oregon, S Dakota, and Montana. We don't count?
This, yet another big win in the face of "defeat" by Hillary, is sending a strong message to anyone who questions the depth and commitment of her supporters. The media, pundits and DNC are not listening to the will of the people yet. How amazing, and certainly suspicious (can you say "ulterior motives"?). The DNC hasn't figured out yet that many democrats are poised to leave the "party" in droves if Obama gets the nomination. He is too inexperienced, elitist, far left and frankly lacks good judgment to lead this country in these very, very scary times. In the DNC's eyes, the voters really don't matter (see FL and MI - even though some other states moved up their primaries as well) and regard the media's support as somehow the public's support for their anointed candidate. DNC and media push for her to end the race and every single poll shows a strong difference of opinion with the public: let it play out.
Any objective, unbiased observer will tell you the push has been on since before January to "get behind" Obama and Hillary went on to win each time they counted her out. New Hampshire, OH, TX, PA, IN, each time "this is it", and she wins. Sometimes BY HUGE margins, like tonite.
I will NOT vote in the GE for Obama, and will write in her name instead. I can no more, in good conscience, vote for an inexperienced, racist (contrary to what he and his supporters would have you believe, the signs, words and hints are all there), politician then I could vote for a Republican. Being from FL, I am not alone in my stance that not counting my vote now, as it stands, means forget me in the GE. Good luck.
Hillary, my humble message to you is this: If the "boys club" in Washington can't take your strength, poise, intelligence and perseverance and the DNC chooses instead to nominate an inexperienced, slick, elitist politician, then PLEASE run as an Independent. Your 16 million supporters, to date, are behind you and we want YOU as our next President. Period
Well, I am from Europe, and I have to confess that there's one thing I don't understand from Hillary Clinton is this.....if she knew beforehand that there are 50 states in the U.S, and not 48.........why the hell did she agree to have Michigan and Florida to get stripped of their delegates?
Because this is A FACT AS WE KNOW IT.....SHE SAT DOWN AND AGREED WITH THE DNC! So, unless she didn't know waht she was agreeing to.....which I doubt, given that she is a very smart lady.....I don't know hy she is making so much noise about it! Is it just because she is behind in the democratic race?
Hey Tyra...what about Oregon, Montana and South Dakota? Why can't Hillary win those states? What's wrong with her? She can't seem to win amongst young voters, black voters, upper income voters, urban voters. Why can't she win those folks? Why couldn't Hillary win Connecticut? Or Missouri? Or Wisconsin? Or Maine? Or Georgia? Or North Carolina?
Why couldn't Hillary SEAL THE DEAL when she had the chance? Maybe its because she can't win over the majority of Americans. Low income, white West Virginians do NOT speak for all America. Obama is the only candidate running a 50-state campaign. That must be news to you. Oh, btw, Puerto Rico is NOT a state and will not count in November.
Tyra,
This is America. It is a democracy, not a theocracy. The winner is the one who accumulates the majority of delegates. Nobody's stealing anything. As exemplified by the current delegate count and popular vote count, the majority of the voters think Obama is the better candidate to represent THEIR values. And, they obviously don't think Hillary is the best candidate.
It Appears the Superdelegates are awake!! The DNC has 5 Million in its war chest, Hillary is 20 Million in debt while Obama has 30 Million available. It is time for the Party to come togeather behind Obama to defeat McCain in November!!
Since Obama is ahead in Pop Vote, pledged Delegates, Super Delegates and in the National polls I fail to see your point!!!
Just because she was along for the ride during her husbands term in office does not giver her more qualifications, the only area she is more qualified in is misspeaking !!!!
she lies, that a fact. She stronger in that respect.
Hillary is toast. The only thing she wants to do right now is to ruin Obama's chances so she can run again in 4 years. The Clintons will stop at nothing to get their way (ruin the party, play the race card, whatever!), but hopefully this time it's too late.
Thats right Tyra, we will not let this election be stolen. Hillary is trying to change the rules to seat delegates from Michigan and Florida (she was the only Dem on the ballot in Michigan) AFTER agreeing with the other candidates that those states votes would not count if they moved up their primaries. Think about all the people who did not vote because they were told by the DNC that their vote would not count. Even my second grade daughter knows you cant change the rules after you've started the game.
Puerto Rico doesn't vote.....
The Clintons are proven "I did not have sex with that woman" sniper fire, liars and(not to mention the NAFTA lie and pardoning billionaires on the last day in office). They have made 109 million dollars after leaving office and were paid millions for Wiley Bill to give two speeches about the up and coming nafta like treaty.tThey have the nerve to call Obama an elitist? How much money have you made in the past eight years? For the first time ever, the economy has expanded while wages have decreased If the gays and the feminist are willing to vote against the Democratic party because they want Hillary to be the first lesbian President, that proves they are just for their own special interest, and not the good of America.there is no difference between them and the Republicans and their special interest.. Who needs you?
Tyra et al, WAKE UP and realize that there will be no Republican victory in November. You also need to get over what church somebody attends. It is irrelevant to competence for the presidency (look what we got with Bible-thumper Bush).
You're right that Hillary will not steal the election. She has no metrics to win. She is no more qualified than Barack.
After all this time, with the Obama camp and Supers saying the will of the people should matter first, here they are swinging the race before the game is over. Only spineless scared pansies do things like that. Shame on you Barack and Self-concerned Superdelegates. Just another example of Obama hypocracy.
Tyra, what’s so qualified about Hillary? That is not a rhetorical question. I really want an answer. You and you ilk have been hitting us over the head with, “Hillary is the most qualified candidate,” since 1999. But I just don’t see it. Her experience includes winning two elections in her life, botching an opportunity to reform healthcare because of wonkiness combined with ego, insulting moms who work at being moms, exploiting her access to the chief executive to gain a “windfall” in the commodities market (at the expense of everyone else in this zero sum exchange), and sleeping with the president (maybe—and if so, this is a qualification she shares with Monica Lewinski, among others). I don’t like her, but that is not why I don’t think she deserves to be president. She does not deserve to be president, say it with me now, BECAUSE SHE LOST! I’m sorry, but you Hillary lemmings need to get beyond this.
Actually you need to wake up and look at the recent GOP losses in long held repub strongholds to realize Mccain will lose to either Democrat candidate.
Tyra,
Sadly Hillary Clinton beliefs system often includes lying.
She told Tyra Banks she was transfixed and transformed by Dr. Kings
1963. I have a dream speech. She failed to tell Tyra that she campaigned against
Civil Rights and for Barry Goldwater in 1964.
She was fired in the 1970's for lying.
She lied for years telling people she was named after Sir Edmund Hillary. She
even lied to the mountain climber himself.
She repeatedly lied about Bosnia Sniper starting in Iowa, and would have
kept lying had the video not surfaced.
Many more issues.

Tyra, there isn't a conspiracy to elect Barack Obama. He's just winning. Try thinking about the facts. Separate your emotions from your ability to reason.
Question: If Barack Obama wins the popular vote in a congressional district, would it be wise for a superdelegate to endorse his opponent? I'm not so sure that would make his or her constituents happy.
Do you really want this NOMINATING election to completely tear the Democratic apart?
Honestly, what has changed in the delegate count since Super Tuesday? Nothing. Except that the democrats continue to do what they do best: destroy themselves.
Obama will win this contest. It is only a matter of time. The Democratic party must stop its internal bleeding soon, or the consequences will be severe.
Well..it's the uneducated who elected Bush twice. If they vote against Obama they vote against him to their own peril. 4 more years of Republican rule will tank this country and these uneducated white voters will have no one to blame but themselves.
Clinton folks need to realize that the end of the road is here for her. She is not the most electable, because she would be in the lead if she were. Also, to democrats who wont vote for Obama, it makes me really wonder why because the policies of the two are so very similar. I could think of reasons, but none of them are pretty. You would really vote for MCCAIN over Obama and for what reasons? Because Obama is an elitist? Nevermind the fact that he came from a single parent household and wasnt well off. Never mind that he worked in the community instead of working in a law firm. Do Not Call Hillary the "candidate of the working class". When a woman can LOAN her campaign millions and millions of dollars, she is not like you factory workers at all. And what beliefs does Obama have that dont mesh with the American public? This election can not be stolen from any one democrat because they are both wonderful prospects. As an Obama supporter, I would be happy to vote for him, and if somehow it didnt happen, then I would be happy to vote for Clinton. Thats how a real democrat should feel.
What makes her soooo qualified? Is it because she was the first lady for eight years, which in my opinion don't spell experience or she is more experience than Obama. Stop trying to scare people in to believing that Hillary is the only one that can win in November. WV don't don't speak for the whole country. Hillary has all the rights to keep going, but to where and what.....
Tyra: Perhaps it is you that needs to wake up? In case you haven't been paying attention, Democrats have been taking away special election seats held by Republicans in their strongholds
Hillary is done by every measurable stat. Obama's campaign outsmarted Clinton's over and over (he one 22 contents by 20% or more, 32 states won) despite her going nuclear and trying to tarnish his image.
We need people with ideas who will challenge the direction this country has been headed. Hillary was a part of the problem, not a solution.
Hillary's tenacity underscores her egomania. Not a quality fitting for my President.
Her full steam ahead and the rhetoric of her campaign is all about her, not about voters. Don't be fooled or lulled into a false sympatico. She doesn't care about 'you.' Moreover, as a Vietnam veteran, I am shocked that she should outright lie about being under fire and then dismiss it as a slip of the tongue. The media gave her a pass. I won't, out of deep respect for those who have worn the uniform I urge all veterans to renounce, denounce, (whatever you want to call it)
just don't 'pronounce' Hillary Clinton as any kind of viable candidate. I will vote for Obama, nominee or not. BTW, I'm white and not rich.
Tyra, it's over.
Clinton had 41% lead in WV. Good for her. But, so what? McCain got less votes than Obama got in WV GOP primary. General election is a lot different from primaries. As a white male with two masters degrees and a decent income, I am offended by Clinton campaign's claim that only white collar, uneducated white Americans matter. Hillary beleives or not but I am very hardworking too. All votes count and Clinton is losing in all counts (except for her counting methods where one blue collar white vote is more important than her husband's because Bill is not blue collar).
YOU LEFT OFF TRADITIONAL FAMILY VALUES AND PRO-LIFE, ALSO BIBLE BASED, IF THAT IS YOUR CRITERIA. ONLY THE "OLD MAN" CAN ADD THOSE TO HIS LIST. DON'T FORGET THAT WE ARE NOT WITHOUT HOPE WHEN HE CHOOSES A QUALIFIED VICE-PRESIDENTIAL RUNNING MATE. A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE SHARP AND INCREDIBLY FUNCTIONAL IN THEIR 80'S. WHO KNOWS? EVEN HILLARY COULD RUN WHEN SHE IS IN HER 70'S!
People of the United States, it saddens me when I hear I want vote for a canidate because of the color of his skin. An the fact that Hillary is making america feel this race is being stolen from her because of Florida and Michigan is truly false. When Hillary and Barack both agreed that those two states wouldn't count if they move their primary up. They did an even when Barack was losing if everyone think about it he not once said they should be counted, only when Hillary realize she didn't have a chance in hell of winning did those two states become important. They both sign an agreement and Hillary said on national television it wouldn't count. I believe she said when she did because (1) she was in the lead (2). just in case Barack comes back an try to reverse the decision like she has. I'm from Missouri an I voted for Hillary, an wish I could take my vote back. Because she's been flip flopping all over. Since Feb. 5, 2008 elections, I have been watching Hillary Clinton turn into a person I just don't like anymore. With all her lies, I just can't trust her. Never want to admit when she's wrong or admitting when she's lied. An if everyone think about it, She build her campaign on ending on super Tuesday, never thinking or planning past that. Now if we think about that, how she manage her staff and her finances is this a person who really want to run our country. If the people who are not going to vote for Obama this fall because of his race and is a Democrat is hurting themselves. Because if you think you're suffering now, just think four more years, before we get another shot. I must say Hillary is not worth my family future nor mines. Ask yourself is you voting for Hillary or Bill? So as I end my comment Hillary don't there is alot of Buyer's Remorse towards her.
I am not an American but i am extremely interested in the 2008 American Election like never before.
I have to say that i am suprised and indeed appalled at the level of thinking of Americans, the so-called civilized people of the world. That in the 21st century, a persons color is going to become the only deciding factor of his eligibility to contest and win an important election.
More suprising however is that the Clintons are the ones fanning this race card as it appears to be the only strategy 'working' for them. Hilary whom i liked and admired so much wants to be become the Democratic Nominee based on such sentiments. The white, non-college educated and poor voted for her husband during his first and second elections, yet he did nothing to improve their lot and here comes Hilary Clinton, who plans to keep them uneducated and poor and they are jumping, tragic!
I'd like to know why Obama is being referred to as a black man totally discounting 50% of his being ( my understanding is that his mother is white). Here in Africa we do not see him as a black man at all. America must truly be a confused nation. They say one thing, believe and act another.
If that be the case, every American citizen whose parents are not white or should i say pink, must fight the race battle once and for all and ensure that Obama wins the Democatic nomination and is overwhelmingly voted the next president of the United States of America. This is hard for me to write because i know that the vast majority of Americans - pink & colored, do not care about a persons skin color but will judge people based on their abilities or lack or it. I don't know how this came about. The Republicans have destroyed the American nation and am sorry to say John McCain reminds me of Dick Cheney - make money no matter what, Kill, bomb, destroy, but control the money. He truly reminds of the KKK.

I am from India... Watching this race, I truly feel Hillary should give up the wild goose chase and step down in a dignified manner. If the math, money & momentum is not with her.. why drag on and widen her bulging debt.. This is nuts.. Be wise.. Give up Hillary!!
I am not an American but i am extremely interested in the 2008 American Election like never before.

I am appauled that our U. S citizens are sending a message that white America decides who our President will be "according to history"/Previous elections have been determined by rural West Virginia". This is a new day and I believe history can and will change with this upcoming election. I am deeply affended when I hear citizens say "the only way I will vote is if the candidates are white. African Americans have supported our electorial process regardless of the fact that our choices have been white only for all my fifty years on this earth. Wake up America and support the possibility of change and a new way of thinking in America. I would like to experience in this life the impact of real equality to all citizens, be it African American , Hispanic, or etc..
America is experiencing something new........ A person of color and a woman as the media darlings and leaders of the upcoming elections. This is a new game of politics and things that were conventional in the past are not the norm now. How Presidents are elected from now forward will change for some time to come. With that said, HRC needs to end her camaign. Why, because she cannot win. How can you be more electable than the person you are losing to? The Clintons had their run, God Bless them. It is time for America to move on, even if it is with McCain at the helm.......enough of the Bush's and Clintons! In closing, if Obama faced this losing margin, he'd been asked to end his campaign long ago.........
The SUPERDELEGATES need to wake up and give this election to Hillary despite the fact Obama is leading in the popular vote and the delegate count. It's obvious Hillary shares more views with the American people! That's why 550,000 more people voted for Obama than her! It's OBVIOUS!!!! Remember the outrage when Al Gore won the popular but lost in the delegate count and all the democrats were in an uproar because the election wasn't given to GORE??? Well now Obama is leading in delegates and the popular and many democrats are going to be in an uproar if the election is not given to CLINTON!
IT JUST MAKES SENSE!!!! I don't know why the Superdelegates don't see that.
I am not an American but i am extremely interested in the 2008 American Election like never before.

YOU GUYS CAN COMPLAIN ALL YOU WANT BUT THERE IS NO WAY THAT HILARY CAN WIN THE NOMINATION. AS THE NY POST SAID, SHE'S "TOAST".
TIME FOR HER AND HER WINDBAG OF A HUSBAND TO GO HOME AND LICK THEIR WOUNDS. HILARY HAS MADE SO MANY ENAMIES AND BURNED SO MANY BRIDGES BEHIDE HER THAT SHE WILL ALSO LOSE HER BID FOR RE-ELECTION TO CONGRESS. HER POLITICAL CAREER AND BILS LEGACY ARE OVER.
GO HOME. NOBODY BELIEVES IN EITHER OF YOU ANY MORE.
Take your bow now Hillary and get out it's over !
What I couldn't understand in PA specifically (but this applies in other states too) is on the radio they were talking about how 6 or 7 in 10 people don't trust Clinton, but would vote for her anyway. If you don't trust her to walk your dog, why on EARTH would you vote for her as a Presidential nominee?
What I've sort of determined is that people know the Clinton name, had better times while her husband was in office, and is afraid to change up the status-quo to an extent. People don't realize that more than two families in two decades CAN run this country...and based on how things are going, change might do us all some good.
Tyra and Sunny Florida,
Your arguments do not reflect reality. Why is Hillary loosing in all catagories if not because it is the will of the American People that Obama is the perferred nominee.
Obama and Richardson 08
as a republican turncoat who is 63 yrs old and never voted dem in my life. I have vote every election from local, county, state and federal and this will be my first federal dem vote. I support the person who will do the most for our wonderful country and the people in it. By the wy it will not be Clinton & Clibton I did not vote that way 2 times in the past I sure will not take this country down that road again. Obama please carry on and God Bless.
GD
Alfred, Maine on assignment in Czech Republic.
By the way it appears to me that major of people here favor Obama as well.
Go Obama!!
Tyra, pack your bags and head back to Israel along with the rest of your "chosen" people.......
if obama is the runner ...i will vote for mccain.
Some (not all) of these Clinton supporters are really scaring me. Really.
Stop it. STOP. Let her run, go ahead and vote for her in these primaries, support her fully through these last primaries. But stop stop stop slandering Barack Obama, the most inspirational political leader we've had in decades. Barack Obama is not racist, he is the opposite. Within his DNA, his entire family, there are representatives from so many different races.
Stop dividing us, stop the slander, support Clinton if you want, but if she loses the nomination, please stand with us and vote for Obama. We can't afford another Republican administration.
Stop it. Really.
Oh, and one other thing. As a Jew, I am very offended by comments like Tyra's (comment #1). Comments like yours give rise to hateful conspiracy theories and antisemitism.
Stop it. STOP.
until she started to loose, HRC was all against counting FL an MI. Hell, her chief strategist was one of the authors of the rules set by DNC. She is a sore looser. Wait and watch, she will go out begging for money. what a shame she is to our country. her husband is another story for another book..
If Obama gets nominated, which he most likely will, Democrats will not leave the party in droves - they'll have to get over it. There is no other option. Hmm - lets think about it - a democrat that some people didn't want or four to eight more years of s**t for brains policies. Let Clinton's supporters think about that all the way to the polls in November when it's Obama v McCain.
The Fact that Hillary Clinton can win the Nomination is Beyond you because you do not realize the rules of game. It is not all about what you think.
If Billary is elected president and reelected for a second term that would equate to 26 YEARS OF NOTHING BUT BUSH'S AND CLINTON'S RUNNING THIS COUNTRY! That thought really scares me. It seems to me our politics would be very narrow minded and our leaders will be following the same lines of thinking to solve problems. Granted the Bush's and Clinton's bring very different approaches to their leadership styles and likely even balance each other out but that would mean no net gain in moving our country forward. Clinton=stalemate. This is why I think Obama would be a great president - he can bring the change of thinking needed to fix many of our problems and thinking outside the box and not stay down the same old lines.
I am genuinely tired of the Michigan and Florida votes not counting argument. To the myopic, head-in-the-sand people that still don't understand this, BARACK OBAMA WAS NOT EVEN ON THE BALLOT IN MICHIGAN --- HOW CAN YOU COUNT THE VOTES??? OF COURSE Hillary wants them to count!!! It's such a ridiculous point. Also, Hillary is a proven, compulsive liar. Anyone remember the sniper fire story?
To Sunny Florida, in your post you state that the 16 million supporters of Hillary Clinton would leave the Democrat Party and support her if she ran as an Independent. Question, who the hell made you the spokesperson of her supporters! You think you know how all of them will vote? Where did you get suck amazing powers of clairvoyance? This is fact! She runs as a independent, she still looses! But, she'll be more in debt, a pariah in democrat circles, and relegated to the history bin as a spoiled, self-center politician who cared more about her own asperations that those of the people. If this is what you want, then you and others like yourself who would vote only on gender, demanding that informed voters support the loosing candidate, then go. We don't need you!
When its all Done...God Bless America and Welcome to a new Dawn of Change
It is hard for the Hillary camp to make the assertion that she is the most qualified to be president. If anyone is the most qualified it is McCain.
That being said, she is the most qualified to be president that has been put up by the Democrats. However, if that is her only argument along with people will not vote for a black man, she is in a bad spot. I think she has under estimated the desire for something new. It is also something that her supporters under estimate.
Unfortunately for Obama, his supporters under estimate the need for Hillary's supporters in November. I hope that the party can come together as this is the only way that the democrats lose in November is if the Democratic voters slit their own throats. There are a lot of people up on that wall right now, and Clinton's legacy will come from how she talks them down.
If she can talk them down and deliver a victory in November for the democrats, she will make a great future candidate and find herself among the leaders of the party. If she manages to help them commit suicide, then she will find herself and her hopes to become a power broker in the party or a future candidate at and end. Her political future is determined by how she helps the party come together, even if she is not the nominee.
Democrats have a very long memory. If Obama losses because Hillary wouldn't support his nomination, she will get the blame. This will be political suicide for her, and he supporters are going to help her commit it. If her supporters really want her as a party leader, I suggest they start coming together to figure out how to deliver a win in November.
As for Obama and his supporters, what they say about Clinton can and will be used against them. They need the Clintonites support, so I suggest they practice what they preach and start welcoming Clinton supporters and encourage them to help deliver a victory in the fall. This means ceasing to call for Clinton to get out of the race as she is exiting and ceasing the name calling.
Starting thinking about what is good for the Party and not the individual. If you do that the Democrats will win in November, whether it is Clinton or Obama on top of the ticket. Fail to do that and no matter who is up against McCain in the fall, he will win, there just will not be enough support for the Democrats to pull this out.
I sense that Hillary is contemplating to continue her ego-trip run as an INDEPENDENT, just like what Lieberman did in Connecticut, otherwise she would call it quits weeks ago. She's smart- she knows the math. She knows there's no way in hell she can catch up with Obama's lead. It's the only logical reason I can think of on why she's still in this race.
well well,
Tyra darling; If what constitute our american values/belief system is believing who god chose as his "super delegate" people, maybe you should understand (I know its hard to do so in WV) that we are capitalistic to the bone first (not seen in practice in WV). Rule of law By the people (even if your seat in heavens is not guaranteed if you are not a chosen one) For the people ( ditto).

Democratic Primaries 2008 and Clinton as VP
A scorpion(Clinton) and a frog(Obama) meet on the bank of a stream and the scorpion asks the frog to carry him across on its back. The frog asks, “How do I know you won’t sting me?” The scorpion says, “Because if I do, I will die too.”
The frog is satisfied, and they set out, but in midstream, the scorpion stings the frog. The frog feels the onset of paralysis and starts to sink, knowing they both will drown, but has just enough time to gasp “Why?”
Replies the scorpion: “It’s my nature…”
The time has come for Hillary to leave The Democratic Nomination Race and stop her campaign team raising race fears and smears. Comments from some most loyal Hillary supporters are getting more heated by the day and she must carry the blame for this.
The DNC have played up to Hillary for too long now, allowing her a few final moments of glory, that has to stop before she destructs Our Party!
Tyra.....more like Tyrant.......
God's chosen people.....so if you are not one the types of people you described....you are not "chosen" by God. What kind of crap is that! Give me a break.
Thank goodness the world is not in the hands of bigoted racists like you Tyra.
*ahem*
The only way this election will be "stolen" is if Hillary somehow gets the Michigan and Florida delegates seated, AFTER SHE VOTED AGAINST DOING SO.
Crimefighters fight crime, and firefighters fight fire, so I guess Hillary must be a freedom fighter.
Take the gloves off and stand aside. America has been battered enough, thanks. We don't need this kind of "help".
Hilary fans please watch closely how the woman won in texas. had mccain not sent his backers to vote for clinton, given the fact that he'd won in tx, she would have been out of the race and not dragging on & serving a stale 7-day old sandwich. i'm in austin & my coworker went with the plot. its obvious mccain felt he has better chance against her.
I am a white, 64 year old, Irish Catholic, raised in a bigotted home and I am a strong Obama supporter. I have also voted Republican for 40 of my 48 years of votes. My wife is also an Obama fan. Is anyone out there actually aware of the damage the "establishment" has done to America in recent years-----both Dem and Repub are responsible. We need a fresh start--more of the same will only get us more of the same. HRC and or McCain are too much alike in many ways!
Obama is not a Muslim, as for his church, I faced his same issue with my church---stay or go after the priest sex scandals and apparent cover-ups, not an easy decision. Most Catholics chose to stay, some left, it was a hard decision--the same one Sen. Obama had to make. So stop looking for ways to not vote for our next best hope for change in this election. We have become a bankrupt, corrupt, greedy, bully in the world. It is time to restore our true place in the World as a World class leader, not a World class aggressor. Put the neo-con plan in the garbage where it belongs, along with Bush and the rest of the Neo-cons.....
It's amazing how anti-Clinton you Democrats have become. Before Obama all of you propped Hillary up to be the next president. CNN (Clinton News Network) touted all day how she was the one. Then Oprah's boy came along (with Oprah's money) and divided the party (some Uniter he is) and now you have the hypocritical news anchors and politicians telling Hillary to quit. One question -- Do you really believe that this guy has a chance to beat McCain? The Republicans are silently laughing and enjoying what Hollywood has created. As a Republican, I truly believe that Clinton would carry the Bible Belt and the overall vote for President. Let's face it, she won California, New York, Florida, Ohio, Texas... what else do you need to know? I hope that all of you SHEEP will do what money and media will tell you to do and support Obama because there is no way in hell that Obama, with his silver tongued epilogues, will be able to win the presidency in November. The Clintons won it twice - the first time against all odds because they were able to sway many Republicans to vote Democrat. The same will not hold true for Obama. He should take a back seat to Hillary and accept a Vice President role and become more experienced and, ultimately he will be president. A loss in 2008 and he will become another Kerry. Mark my words.
Tyra - I'm a longtime Obama supporter, so I disagree with most of what you write. I do think you owe it to yourself, however, to be more honest with yourself. Hillary has lost this nomination. There is nothing short of outright larceny that will change this reality.
Had she campaigned in December as she is right now, however, my guess is that Super Tuesday would have resultued in her winning the nomination. She didn't... and you owe it to yourself to answer WHY?! It was because of her choices, her decisions, her campaign strategy, her treatment of the nomination process (such as ignoring the caucas states), her unwillingness to actually fight for issues that weren't tested and probed by that expensive campaign team of hers that my Obama donations will soon pay
Talk of race, religion, elitism, and the like is simply (and simplistically) a smokescreen. If you don't like voting for a black man who attends a black (Christian) church then admit it and move on; but don't tell me these are reasons Obama isn't "qualified."
Lastly, I'm really enjoying the tremors that Obama's success seems to be causing in "the system." Lobbyists don't control my candidate's check book. Party affiliaion (including all the crap about leftists, patriotism, and the other scare tactics that will be used) seemingly have less and less effect every day. Obama offers a new STYLE OF POLITICS, one that will shake power loose and allow SOME redress for the public at large. To paraphrase Eddie Murphy in 48 Hours: "There's [gonna be] a new sheriff in town, and his name is [Barack Obama]. Y'all be cool. Right on"
.
Obama is just a joke!!!!
GO HILLARY !!!!!!
WE LOVE YOU AND WE ARE WITH YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YOU ARE ONLY HOPE FOR AMERICA!!!!
Obama is just a joke!!!!
GO HILLARY !!!!!!
WE LOVE YOU AND WE ARE WITH YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YOU ARE ONLY HOPE FOR AMERICA!!!!
Hillary is depending on the poor...folks in dying industries or whose jobs have been outsourced thanks to 8 years of Billy Boy and nearly eight of Bush The Dumb; the ill educated, thanks to a lousy national educational policy the past sixteen years; and the bigoted. Hell of a combo.
As an Obama supporter, I'm getting a little tired of the Clinton supporters' claims the "the media" or "the pundants" or "the DNC" is behind Obama's win. If "the media" has that much power, why did Clinton win West Virginia so resoundingly? The fact is that Obama is winning because more people are voting for him - plain and simple. It's been a close race, but a win by a nose is still a win. There will be no "WAKING UP" and smelling the coffee.
If you want to stomp your foot and leave the Party, then leave. That's unfortunate, but it's not enough of a threat to change the outcome of the nomination.
This is directed to the Hillary supporters: I wholeheartedly agree with you'all when you chant: Go, go Hillary go! Yep, I agree. She needs to go, and the sooner the better. BTW, in Oklahoma we know women of her ilk as "a presumptuous ol' heifer." (And not that I have anything against heifers.) Hillary, may the Lord Obama take pitty on you! Obama, Obama, take this here fork and see if Hillary Clinton is doggone done. Tender, you say? Feed her to the dogs.
It kills me to hear Hillary supporters talk about not having this stolen from them lmao. I liked Hillary until she started trying to get delegates and superdelegates to decide teh campaign. Anyone way you want to spin that she was trying to do what Bush did to Gore. That kind of politics is what we need to get rid of.
You gotta feel sorry for Terry McAuliffe. He can see Secretary of State slipping away. He missed his calling. He could have made a fortune selling used cars. (I'm an old white guy, voting for Obama).
It's Hillary's deception AND NOT tenacity which is KEEPING HER IN THE RACE.
She's winning the people WHO NEVER FINISHED SCHOOLS. If THEY HAD REALLY, They wouldn't have supported her. And Hillary is JUST TAKING ADVANTAGE of that.
Any 'intelligent' person can SENSE clearly that HER GOAL is to MAKE SURE OBAMA doesn't win so that SHE CAN try again in 4 years. She KNOWS she CANNOT WIN THIS NOMINATION NOW and IF SHE accepts VP position, Her race to white house will just end.
No wonder she is continuing HER NEGATIVE compaign.
Operation Chaos is working!!! Thanks to all of you!
Obviously Hilliary does not know political history. She told her audiences in West Virginia that no candidate had won the White House without winning in West Viriginia since 1916!!! Her own husband, Bill Clinton WON in West Viriginia in 2002 and again in 2006! There she goes again, providing FRAUDULANT INFORMATION!! Wonder how Billy Boy feels about her totally discounting him???
Why is West Virginia being used as the "MODEL" state for the rest of the nation in that the poor, uneducated white workers are all-important for the Dems to win in Nov?? West Virginia is a small state with ONLY 39 delegates. Isn't it comical how Hilliary NOW sees a small state with so little delegates as ALL IMPORTANT??? Remember when she and her campaign managers and advisors said ONLY the BIG states such as New York and California counted because of THE DELEGATES, THE DELEGATES, THE DELEGATES??? Remember when Hilliary and her people said the SMALL states (and the voters) with small delegate counts were NOT important and DID NOT matter? Remember how they described the CAUCUS states (and the voters) as NOT important, they do NOT count, and they are UNDEMOCRATIC? What Happened, Hilliary, that you NOW see West Virginia as "CRUCIAL" to your campaign??? More of Hilliary's hypocracy!! Say anything, do anything, because "I am in it to win it!" For Hilliary, her campaign, and the media to portray West Virginia as representative of the rest of the United States is DEAD WRONG. Senator Obama has won several states where the White population of all economic levels voted for him overwhelmingly!! Try states, like Washington, Iowa, Colorado, and many, many more!! These are the states that should be the ones representative of America. What West Virginia has proven is that they have NOT moved forward with most of America. In interviews people there said they "would never vote for a.........(long pause)........ 'a man of color'." How racist and bigotted is this??? There was small segments of West Virginia who voted for Obama. West Virginia, and I commend them them for doing so! The poorest and the least educated and the most prejudiced in the entire country voted for Hilliary. Are we going to let these people DECIDE who will be our President? The news media needs to stop making the case that the poor, white, uneducated and prejudiced people are the "all makers of a Presiden"t!! Hilliary's time as a candidate is OVER, she has lost ALL credibility! What she has shown is that she excels in lying, making fraudulant claims to experience, nastiness, hatchet jobs, changing her persona to suit the moment (almost as often as she changes her pantsuits), divisiveness, destructiveness, tearing the party apart, playing the race card and the gender cards at whim, cannot run a good campaign----it has been chaotic and filled with infighting, firings of aides and managers alike, firing Mark Penn but not firing him, Bill's uncontrolled, enraged temper and his severe case of diarrhea of the mouth; Indebtedness of over $20 Million, about $10 of which she owes the MIDDLE-CLASS vendors and business people who provided her and her campaign with stage set-ups and other services, dating back to Iowa. Aren't these the very people she said she cared so much about?? Yet, leaves them hanging by not paying them?? It is comical and sad that suddenly the middleclass does not matter to her very much, now it is the poor white racist and bigotted population of West Virgina! Does this bespeak of outright desperation and clutching at straws?? Bottom line is: Senator Obama has won the Democrat nomination! The rest of the entire world KNOWS Senator Obama has won the nomination!!! The ONLY ones who cannot accept this are Hilliary, her campaign, Bill, and some of her supporters. Hilliary's "team" sits in a dark little corner of the world and continue to twist numbers and make crazy and unfounded claims to her "electability". If she was/is electable, why is she BEHIND ON ALL COUNTS of the nomination process. Why wasn't SHE able to close the deal? Afterall, wasn't she the one crowned by the media and her campaign, and she, herself, as the "inevitable nominee" and the "shoe-in to the Presidency". The people of America have spoken, Hilliary, please be a bigger and better person than you've shown to be and listen to them!!
The problem with Hilary Clinton is that she feels that she should win because it is owed to her. She has no concern for what voters think. If she is such a leader, why hasn't she won the primary yet and stop trying to change the rules as she go along. Whey is she in debt? This country is so racist and it is amazing in the year 2008. Most of those voters in WV said they would not vote for Obama because he was black, what does that say? They are still in the dark ages.
LOVE THE FIGHT ... but in four months this will all seem like a distant dream. Obama has won, Hillary will heartily endorse him. Why? Well of course it will be to her political advantage, but also because Hillary is a great leader. She knows this country cannot survive as free, noble, prosperous and peaceful under the current Republican mindset. She may think she's a better choice than Obama, but as she's said again and again, Obama is a million times better than McCain and we cannot allow the nation to continue the failed policies of George W. Bush. In four months, we will see how hard this hero, our first serious female contender for the White House, fights for America and fights for Obama. If you love Obama now, take heart, Hillary will help. If you love Hillary now, you'll be so proud of her support of Obama in the future and her own nobility, and words, will help you support Obama for the good of us all.
I'd like to say to everyone, calm down. But I'm confident we will. Our greatest MUTUAL victory is ahead of us.
Here's something I'm surprised we're not seeing more discussions about. Hilary Clintons seems to be quite proud of this fact, actually going around BOASTING that uneducated, lower educated white people are supporting her as if it’s a badge of honor. My guess is a LOT of those so called “lower educated” white people will ultimately realize exactly what she is saying about their intelligence and reject her whole heartedly. In my mind she is clarifying the idea that only someone who is NOT smart would believe she is the right choice to lead America.
Correct me if I'm wrong. But my guess is that many of those that fall into this "category" will wake up to the fact that they are not as ignorant or stupid for that matter, as she is painting them and demonstrate this by voting for change. My hope is that IF any of her these supporters feel she is referring to him or her, who may want to find real encouragement to do better in life, by allowing themselves (and the same goes for all races) to be encouraged to get better educated, then they will have to look absolutely no further than the man who will lead this great country after the next general election for their inspiration. Barack Obama.
Don’t feel proud to vote for this “fool” Hilary Clinton who wishes to exploit and use you. Do just the opposite - show her that you are not as stupid as she so gleefully runs around the country telling everyone you are! How embarrassing it would be to think after walking out of the polling booth and suddenly realize that you had just done something VERY STUPID - you have just voted for Clinton! Let’s face it - you would find it an awful struggle to look in the mirror at yourself and not think that you were an uneducated white person because, wait for it.... if you voted for HER, according to what she has said - then you must be of lower intelligence for supporting her! Huh…. run that by me again!
Hillary Hillary Hillary.....there are 2 schools of thought on why Hillary is still in....
1. She is working with Mccain (silly i know) 2. she is trying to set up for a run in 2012.....either way SHE knows she cant win and even McCain has been campaigning and running ads against Obama, not Hillary....
when you are running for Prez a person is suppose to challenge the opponnents solutions, thats politics....But Hillary is just trying to get people to think twice about voting for Barack Obama.....but thats not good if you want to unify the party for a democrat win in NOV.
think about it....if situations were REVERSED....Obama in debt $20,000,000 Behind by over 160 delegates, behind in superdelegates, states won and the popular vote......Obama would be out.....but he leads in every category and national polls.....
truth is, both clinton and obama beat mccain......america wants a democrat in office.....so thank you to all those polls and thank you clinton and obama for getting people involved and having it set up for a democratic win, but clinton needs to take a bow and rally behind Obama
So Obama is for the educated people I guess Hilliary Clinton is for the educated and the uneducated hmm let me weight this out Hilliary Clinton you won.
This win doesn't send a message about anything. West Virginia has only 28 delegates. Look at the totals from WV, IN, and NC, and Obama still takes more total delegates. She can scream and shout all she wants. She's still defeated.
If you leave the party its no big deal becasue there are plenty of Republicans, such as myself and independants ready to vote for Obama. I guess that would make him more electable than HRC.
If you leave the party its no big deal becasue there are plenty of Republicans, such as myself and independants ready to vote for Obama. I guess that would make him more electable than HRC.
I voted for Bill Clinton, but today politics is a bit different. I hate when Clinton talks about electability and this stupid big states issues. I like to see her win figures not visual analysis because big journalist like Larry King has refused to make predictions on some of these states because it failed them.
Please Clinton win the popular vote or number of states or delegates before making this argument because all what you say is without support.
Meh: If the DNC sits down on 5/31 and says "oh okay, Hillary can have 100% of the vote for Florida and Michigan even though she agreed to the rules and is moving the goalposts strictly out of political expediency..." ... if the SooperDelegates all suddenly have an epiphany and sign on to the campaign BS that "Hilliary is the only one who can win against McClammy".... ....If the fact that Barack Obama is ahead in the number of states won, the number of delegates won, and yes, even the popular vote... if all that is somehow disposable, over-ridden, and discarded.... if we collectively somehow "decide" that the crusty under-educated old white demographics of West Verginny are more representative of the USA than the inclusive, old-young-black-white-asian-whatever movement that is the phenomenal populist groundswell behind Obama.... ...Given all the preceding.... YES, I will burn my Democratic Party voter registration card and post the video on YouTube. The above article defends the sincerity of Hillary's supporters, as if that was ever in question or matters beyond their own votes. Clearly Hillary has supporters; so does Barack, and so does Ralph Nader for that matter -- but he's not going to become president any time soon, and it's not looking like Hillary will either. Finally, in response to those Hillary supporters who are posting in places like this their opinion that if the Democrat nomination eludes Hillary, she should run as an Independent....... that would be an obvious disaster with a predictable outcome: The majority US vote would be split between her and the Democrats, and a minority of voters would have the largest block of votes in support of McScary, who would become president. BTW given his age, and relative UNpopularity amongst conservatives, we have to look very very very very very closely at his VP candidate. PS: Don't forget how much Repblicans *hate* Hillary in all this. If she becomes our nominee, repubs will hold their nose and vote for McCrazy just so they can vote against her, mark my words.
How would the DNC reconcile the party if some how Hillary won the nomination?
Obama leads in the delegates, super delegates and the popular vote. Both of these canidates agreed (in public) to follow the DNC's rules about Michigan & Florida. I live in Michigan and came to grips with issues when I voted in the primary. I understood that as a result of my parties leaders in Michigan tampering with the primarys dates that Michigan and Florida would not count. So Obama also leads in honesty and integrety about the issue. They both have brought new voters out to vote. However, I believe this increase in voter turn out is due to the vitality and vigor of the Obama campaigne.
Hillary is inconsistant. She has changed her mind on the delegate numbers. She has changed her mind on the importance of every state of the union (Ohio, Penn., Vir., Ind., are not only important states in the union?). All the states are important in an election! Especially when everyone is looking to change our goverment. Her campaigne is out of money and twice she has personally lent her campaigne millions of dollars while at same time saying Obama is an elitist. She says identifies herself with the hard-working -uneducated-white men. Just what does she mean when she says hard-working-uneducated-white men? Think about that. Do people realize that they are being tricked and insulted at the same time with this kind of rhetoric.
I wish I could loan myself 12 million!
Tha fact is, Obama has ran a better and a more financially sound campaigne than she has. He is not lending himself money??? (what kind of elitist is this?)
Her only move now is tamper with the minds of the super delegates.
She makes it is hard for me to believe anything she says, especially in these last few weeks.
If the super delegates fall for her campaigne of twisting to suit her political aspirations than DNC is in big trouble and will pay a huge price for it in the future.
Stay tuned for what her campaigne has next!
A question for you here skmj..... You're from West Virginia aren't you? LOL
skmj... the "LOL" are abreviations which some people use when they want you to know they're "laughing out loud" at something which they found really, really funny!
Let's use your deductive reasoning for example. Hilary Clinton is for Hilary Clinton. Get it? You're scratching your head aren't you.....?
"Oh yee" of so little brains . . . Hillary has already lost . . . the superdelegates have (!) already decided and in true WV, Applachian Hillbilly vernacular, "she ain't it!" The supes are just trying to appease the American people, Hillary supporters, Media Reporters and all the chumps who claim they support Hillary, but won't give a dime to help her pay her deadbeat debts. One visit to the Senate will tell you who whom is supporting. Very few politicians greet Hillary when she comes to town, plus they actually avoid eye or close proximity to her. That tells alot in the world of politics.
And, only Hillary and the un- or mis-informed think WV and po, uneducated, gullible redneck racists and sexists count as significantly as she wants them to appear. Lets face it, Seven (7%) of these clods felt their was worth their time to waste their vote, time, gas and other resources (like integrity and a true sense of American Justice) and cast a ballot for one time contender John Edwards(!?!??) rather than vote for the ever beloved saint Hillary or a man who all they can see is the color of his skin. The supers are trying to help her save face and dignity and she just is not listening to them. Childish arrodance masquarading has spirit with a cause. She is being given as much rope as possible as a lifeline or to hang herself. Its up to her. She forgets, "Rocky" got the snot knocked out of him and ended up with brain damage, and also didn't know when to hang up the gloves. (She should actually watch the movie and choose her analogies more wisely.
Hillary, however, should stay in the race until she has bankrupted her campaign (reputation, dignity, integrity, legacy and political opportunities) shed any degree of integrity and made it absolutely clear that she would make a terrible, non-electible choice for 2016. No one is going to rob Hillary of her chance or the Nomination, except Hillary (and her strategists). However, she is trying to set everyone else up as the bad or fall guys when she is not nominated. by hook or crook, to appease her ego. Couldn't be that She, the Great Queen Hillary the first ciuldn't win the big prize?! No, someone must have stolen it! Despite the fact that she got drop kicked by all reasonable metrics, tallies and meaningful measures, along with those that to which she agreed (when she thought it was in her favor to do so. And, that he has worked hard, earned it and out strategized her . Unfortunately for Hillary. her problems are all of her own doing and the fact that she still thinks that she can desort facts, perception, reality as she and (lost his touch) Slick Willie had perpetrated so many times before and gotten away with and that it will work this time around, yet everyone will either over look her vast negatives, growing baggage and years of unscrupulous dealings and background comprising all of those "35 years of experience". (Does Bill's history of sexual assault, harassment, "Trooper-gate", infidelity.impeachment and attempts at taxpayer fraud - Whitewater, among possible others count there too?)
For those who state that they will not vote for President Obama (there, I said it, so get used to it!) first: Grow up; second: Get Over It (if Hillary is the Miracle Kid that she and her faux supporters claim she is, then she'll substantially win the remaining delegates and endorsement unannounced superdelegates, overcome the existing deficit( which is not possible to do) and maybe raise a little bit of coin to pay off her debts before this deal is over in 3 weeks); next: Recognize that this is supposed to be "America', a democracy. There aren't supposed to be unbreakable lineage to opportunities, including elected political offices. So, she and her feminist-racist supporters living vicariously through her, need to re-wire their brains to realize that not everyone wants "this" particular woman to hold that particular office at this time, even if her ego tells her otherwise, further: False statements and weak, false links/associations about or to Democratic Presidential candidate Obama aren't enough to persuade the enlightened that Hillary's regularl, routine and demonstrated negatives are untrue or can overcome all of her associations with all of the exact same people or that her "experience"-by-association is authentic or truly noteworthy, "game changing', if you will. If you doubted Obama, keep waiting for that Gas Tax Holiday she promised you, its just around the corner (just not at your local gas stations).
As for Hillary as his VP, "not bloody likely". Hillary is an island unto herself and there just isn't room for others. (She must have been a terrible child to have raised, lived with, been around or have gone to school with). "Thank, God!", he is not that stupid, naive or persuade-able to fall for that self destructive tip. Besides there are other, qualified, intelligent, capable of being loyal female VP candidates out ther, if that the direction he feels he might want to go in, annd they are white, mothers and come from states like Arkansas, Minnesota, etc.
Besides, there has to be something more than Hillary, Bill, Chelsea and non-monetary donating supporters saying that she should be the nominee, irrespective of smear campaign tactics against her opponent and the party. Plus, the Democratic National Party can't bee too happy with her denegrating another inluential, extremely valuable member. How can/could they trust her?
So for all of you who rant or say that you will "wreck' the Dem. party if she does not get the nomination, you need to wake up and realize that John McCain is waiting with baited breath to do you in and forget your children's chances of going to college, they will be going to Iraq to fight and die for oil for more than a hundred years (or until the last drop has been pumped). Get unfixed on the Hillary issue, it will do you good and you'll sleep better too!
With so much to be done that is good, it is unfortunate to read comments by obviously young people be so fixated on the candidate's race. African American as well as other non-caucasian\white people are as cable of doing miraculous, good, significant and valuable things (or the wrong thing) as anyone else under any given set of circumstances as anyone (or group) else. When last I checked, doing good or bad things was not race dependent, less all Whites be held accountable for Hitler, Napolean and the like. (Think about it.)
With the exception of the Republican bufoons (Nixon, Ford, Reagen, Bush and the real moron Ditto) its less about the President, but about their advisors, cabinet team and the houses of congress that determine U.S. direction. Everytime it has been about the President (and expanding executive privilege U.S. government and the economy suffers). Republicans shrug their shoulders, retire to their ranches and go "oh well, I guess, we should have done more of that!"
And, BTW, "God's chosen people" are those who follow, obey and share "Its" will, words and action. Non Europeans believed in the Divine and flourished until they gave into the pitfalls of humanity, so get off this "chosen' and entitlement crap. I haven't seen anybody walking on water or turning water into wine lately (anywhere or of any race, gender, religion or geographical location.
Toodles!
Hillary Clinton will NEVER be president of the United States. She and her husband truly believe it is owed her; but the only thing we owe her is the opportunity to run for the office. It is time for America to live up to it's promise and elect a candidate who is truly representative of all Americans. Sen. Obama is 1/2 white so what is the problem? What if he said he is white? He has as much claim to that as to being black. Unfortunately, the people of West Virginia may be hard working, but they do not represent the rest of this country. They have proven by this primary that they are not too bright and that is why Hillary spent more time with them than she ever would with the people in Oregon. The people in Oregon are far more educated and can see through her B.S.
SIMPLE PLEASURES FOR SIMPLE MINDS!!!!, best describe HRC supporters. A MIND IS A TERRIBLE THING TO WASTE!!!!, KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!!!, Its a shame that most of HRC supporters have been called uneducated, translated means DUMB. And what makes it worse is that you guys fall for it. People this is coming from the person whom you a supporting. Wake up and go to sleep.
Silly and divisive to say "if my candidate doesn't get the nomination, I'm not voting/I'm voting for McCain."
If it matters that much to you, do a write in. It's pretty simple, and it gets the message across. But cutting off our collective nose to spite our collective face and leaving McBush in the White House is unthinkable.
Come together, or write-in somebody else, but do not let the Republicans have the White House again.
Tyra and all Clinton supporters: Are we to believe you won't vote for the Democrat if it isn't Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton?
When all the voting and spinning is done, the general election will be decided by the issues that were evident in 2006: America is on a downward slide and the voting public blames the Republicans for it.
Boy, I love the Bston Globe and miss being in Boston!!!!!
A great city, one that everyone in America should visit at some point in their lifetime, espec ially if you are young. Boston is the best 'College Town" in the World,. Its also scenic, historic and a very important piece of Americana. Forget wearing a flag pin . . . Go Visit America! And, the trip should start in Boston Go Celts, Sox and Huskies!
Oh, yeah, Hillary, right? She lost two more previously uncommitted superdelegates today (5\14\08) so she, her campaign,, viability arguments, "game\big state changing wins, gullible and unwilling to financially support her supporters are losing ground, the primary nomination and party "electibility argument" every day and with each primary. So much for the "He can't win argument" when fact is he is and the party insiders, movers and shakers are going with a, the winner, not the whiner. It has little do with her being the poor, white women who all the guys are ganging up on, versus her un-electibility, non-existent morality, long since bown integrity, hollow, un-abtainable\non-deliverable promises(gas tax holiday which ranks right up there with universal healthcare).
Hillary should stay in the race because everyday that she does she improves Barack's support amongst inffluential Party delegates, while eroding her support. Oooooh, that's got to hurt, especially when she gets back to Congresss and her day job, only to find that nobody has her back, she's lost clout, popularity, influence and that chip on her shoulder. And, can't get a legislation support. Hillary, put asidde a few campaign bucks for a couple new, thigh hiding pantsuits and wrinkle-hiding pancake makeup kits, along with fees to pay for a good personal trainer and treadmill. (No wonder Slick Willie only reluctantly pecks her on the cheek after one of those "game changing" primary wins from states that have refused for decades to modernize and get with trends of modern industry, technology, innovation and change, as well as get education (beyond being ablr to "cipher up to 10 or 12" (ala 'Jethro Bodine" of the "Beverly Hilbillies Clamphet family fame. Hey? Weren't they supposed to be from the great "Phd"-holding state of West Virginia? Yup.Reckon so)
"08 is Not Your Year Hillary!" Try to sabotage President Obama later. C-ya (and take Bill and Chelsea with you.) Bill will have to leave the Washington whore hounding to the other guys and stick to the Appalachian State, uneducated and lower income ones, ya know like ones in Arkansas (like Paula Jones and the beauty of all beauties, Monica Lewdonherchinski).
Funny how Hillary now says that all votes must be counted, when a few months ago her campaign manager said that the race would be over by Super Tuesday and that "this is a 27-state race." Face it, Hillary is old politics. She'll do anything to get her way, including sabotaging the party's chances in November. That would mean more long years of tragic involvement in Iraq and potentially a right-wing Supreme Court for decades to come. That may well be her legacy, but she doesn't seem to care.
Hillary should have withdrawn after she went 0-for-February. Even then it was obvious to anyone with any vision that her only possible road to the nomination was one that would tear the party apart. Can you imagine the reaction from black voters if Obama is denied the nomination by the superdelegates, after winning the most delegates and votes in the primary campaign? (And don't count Michigan and Florida for Hillary; everyone knows that she's trying to change the rules after everyone agreed not to count those states. She likes to tout her Michigan "victory" when it was 60% to 40% for *uncommitted*, with Obama not even on the ballot - he withdrew his name like all the other candidates, except Hillary.) Black voters and young voters who have seen so much promise in Obama would be angry beyond measure at the Democratic party, and rightly so, and stay home in droves in November. No, Hillary is the one who is more likely to be "unelectable."
I can't understand why Senator Clinton does not accept reality. The game is over and it's time to move on to something else. I am sure a person as intellegent as Senator Clinton understood the DNC rules before the first primary was held, and she accepted those rules. To whine about the rules now, and talk about changing the rules because she is trailing in elected delegates would be equivalent to a World Series team trailing in the 9th. inning and asking the umpires to add an extra inning to allow them to catch up. The game is over and it's time to stop the bickering and move on. Nobody can predict what may or may not happen in the November election. We just have to wait and see....Robert
So much negativity; so much anger; so much name calling; so much bravado; so much assumption; so much bitterness! Did you take an History course? a Statistics course? Calm down and remember the past is real. This Presidential race was tilted from the start! Follow the money! Follow the media slant from the start! Follow the plan of the losers who needed to live vicariously through someone! I see that most of the responders are males. Sexism is real and it reeks! How many of you commenters are registered voters who actually voted in your states' primary? Notice I did not ask about caucases! They are not democratic and should be dismissed. I am a high income, well educated woman who deals with sexism in the real world daily! HRC is the best qualified, most easily electable and the only non-racist Democratic Party candidate. Did you read his books? Didn't think so! Why would a so-called Constitutional lawyer , BHO,not allow FL and MI votes to count?
Because he wasn't even on the ballot in MI your idiot - B. Peacock
