Democrats launch 'McCainpedia'

Posted by Foon Rhee, deputy national political editor May 19, 2008 09:57 AM

It's a Wikipedia age, so Democrats today launched their version focused on presumptive Republican nominee John McCain.

"McCainpedia" is an electronic compendium of research on McCain and like Wikipedia, a platform allowing anyone, anywhere to use it or share it in any way they choose. It includes articles on the economy and other issues, and features one on Iraq.

"While the base of the Republican Party continues to shrink, Democrats are growing our ranks by trusting the American people with the facts of John McCain's own record," Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean said in a statement. "McCainpedia provides the kind of transparency that John McCain would rather avoid and empowers millions of people to review McCain's inconsistencies and make up their own minds about Senator McCain."

.

...And when the GOP launches Obamapedia, the Messiah will call it a "distraction" and "typical" Washington "attacks." The hypocrisy is laughable.

The fact that Senator John Mccain suffered much during the Vietnam War and almost cost him his life in defending Freedom around the world and this nation explain a lot about his true character. He is a hard working American as a serviceman and a politician and he fought for the good of all American in the battle field and in Congress. Why am I overlooked such a character than someone that didn't do a thing at all in Barrack Obama? This is insane to me as an Independent and I truly feel that John Mccain with all the sacrifices he went through in defending America and all the experiences he has as a Senator with the right age as a true and strong leader for this country in the next Administration Barrack Obama need more time in public service to proove himself as a strong and reliable leader. The hubla and hurrah about his youthful look is as ignorant and a big mistake we as country will forever regret.John Mccain is ready but Barrack Obama is not its just simple as that let us not be fool too easily by some crooks.

Just keep it clean. Don't attack his character....just his policies. He's a good man, and just needs to be his own man.....not a continuation of the same old same old.

Who would acually believe that either one of them will do half of what they claim they will do anyways? McCain is a seasoned leader but has a temper that controls him. Obama is very savvy and more of a people person but does lack the "time in" as a leader. Can someone help me pick the lessor of two evils?

Congratulations to the Democratic Party for a good move! Collecting information about McCain and presenting it in a clear logical manner is an honest way to run a campaign. The Republican Party has a history of misinformation and intentional exaggerations. Here's hoping that the American public is smart enough to look at it and make an intelligent decision in November.

My question: Where did John McCain finish in his class at USNA and what year. Was he after Poindexter or before. I think Poindexter was 1958.

It goes to intelligence and judgement.

Wasn't this country founded on the basis of people with different idea's working together to support (and shoot down) those ideas for a delicate balance?

When did all that change? Oh yes, that's right, we went to war with Iraq! If this were an Iraq war we would be fighting their military and government, not helping to rebuild it and defend against terror. We went to war for oil! Boy, I would love to see the benefits of that at $4+/gallon.

I think, quite honestly, if either side can realize they need to be winning not for their parties, but for making this country stronger (using bi-partisan methods). Bush's approval rating may be low, but I don't see Congress doing anything right now either. It takes 2 to tango, and right now we are trying to reach the dance floor. Wake up America!

And what have you done for your country that you feel you can condemn a man who has served to defend and served to protect? Some of you "young" folks need to be weened from everyone else doing your bidding. Grow Up!
