Edwardses' likes and dislikes about Obama, Clinton
Despite entreaties from both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, John and Elizabeth Edwards opted to stay on the fence before today's North Carolina primary.
And the couple, who hold two of the most significant endorsements yet to be had in the Democratic presidential sweepstakes, are similarly neutral in their first joint interview since Edwards dropped out of the race. They gave the interview to, of all places, People magazine.
In excerpts posted online, John Edwards praises Obama's theme of change and a new politics, but says sometimes he wants to "see more substance under the rhetoric." He likes Clinton's tenacity, which he says shows real strength, but worries about the whiff of "the old politics about her."
For her part, Elizabeth Edwards says she likes Clinton's healthcare plan, but not all the money she takes from lobbyists.
Elizabeth Edwards doesn't love Obama's healthcare proposal, or his "misleading" ads on the issue. But she says it's "fantastic" that Obama has motivated so many young people to get involved.

he can say and feel what he wants. he is still a loser though. he's a nonentity.
It is probably too late for the Edwards to make any real impact on the current race for the white house by Hillary and Obama.
Can't he pledge his delegates to one of them and end this charade?
O and C have turned huge numbers against each other. The convention should maybe declare a stalemate, release the delegates and select an alternative without all the negatives O and C have forced on each other. There are many well qualified, some even more than O or C. It wouldn't be the first time. Maybe they should be courting Powell to run against those who dismissed his council in the past. Or they can stick with their current wounded gladiators and take their chances...
a nonentity with delegates.
I think their assessments are correct about both candidates. Maybe one of them likes Obama and the other likes Clinton. Or it could be that they like them both and don't want to alienate either one.
He is a good person and I am glad he stayed on the fence. I think he has 26 pledged delegates and he had some super delegates but they can change so I don't know what his total is. Hopefully it won't make a difference and he can just pledge his delegates to the clear winner of the primaries.
Jorge Nunez, you obviously don't understand what the term victor means. Clinton is a stuck up woman who is the worst possible president the country could know, maybe #2. This is why if she's the nominee, she'll lose to McCain. Also, if she wins she'll shame the Clinton name. The Queen shall NOT inherit the nation! For we must look what the Prince has done!
In a way I can see why Edwards has lost twice first in his vice presidential and the second in his presidential bid. He is afraid of making the wrong decisions. There is nothging wrong with that except you've got to make decision loud and clear sometimes, especially if you are running to lead a nation.
Frankly the Edwardses lost all credibility long ago. He was the light weight who talked a good fight but failed when it mattered. Recall his vote for the invasion of Iraq. Weak! Or cowardly.. His accomplishments are missing. As for the health INSURANCE plan (not a health care plan at all), they should all appologize to the American people and ask Kucinnich to take the lead. He alone had the right approach.
Edwards as the most important non-endorser still around? Al Gore. Others. Edwards was a one-term Senator, and losing VP candidate, that doesn't necessarily confer high standing. Important in NC, yes. Nationally? doubtful. What matters at this point is status within the Party, most votes of the public having already been cast. What 20-year Senators are to be swayed by Edwards?
Aside: health care. Obama and Clinton’s health plans are nearly identical. The difference is that while Clinton claims hers is a universal plan, while Obama doesn't claim that.
In reality, Clinton’s plan isn't universal: It doesn't guarantee that 100% of the public will have coverage and unrestrained access to needed care regardless of financial situation. That's the standard for being "universal." Automatic, guaranteed coverage from some source is the first requisite.
Obama is honest about his plan as not actually giving 100% coverage, though he aspires to achieving that in the future thru further reforms. Clinton misleads--lies--with her claim to "universal."
I'm a health care scholar of 10+ year
edwards had his chance to be important to this campaign..he blew it..obama gained 4 more superdelagates monday..and will get the nom..with out him..his holding out for a cabinet post is gone
Edwards knows a fake slogan man when he sees one
I think Edward's sees himself as the perfect VP candidate, since both Obama & Clinton will probably need a white male as their running mate to get the so called "Reagon Democrats". So he is just afraid of endorsing the wrong person and loose his chance.
A letter was signed by 230 leading economist against the stupid gas tax holiday idea, and how did Hillary respond? She has called them elitist and pressed on. This is very telling about the woman. She doesn't care what others think, even experts. She considers herself the smartest person around, and expects others to swallow her programs in their entirety with no compromise. How anyone can believe this is the leadership style that will bring us together, and take the country forward is beyond me.
Yeah, can we afford to listen to people like John McCain on the gas tax holiday, when he himself has said that he "doesn't understand" the economy? And they both press on, in spite of the advice of all those "elite" experts who actually know what they're talking about.
Anyhow, Edwards still has delegates and can instruct them to vote. But there are only... 25? of them. That's not enough to end this. It's not even enough to flip it if Hillary has big wins today. I think they're waiting to see who comes out ahead and they'll endorse them to end things.
Javalation is correct about Clinton's view on the gas tax holiday. Her proposal would encourage high use of gas. How would she pay for it? With a "windfall profits" tax on the gas companies. How would the gas companies make up for the lost income? By increasing gas prices. So, in the long-run, these two factors (increased demand and a price increase to pay for the windfall profits tax) would make a bad situation worse. It is obvious that Clinton either doesn't understand basic economic, is pandering to the voters or both.
"And the couple, who hold two of the most significant endorsements yet to be had in the Democratic presidential sweepstakes, are similarly neutral in their first joint interview since Edwards dropped out of the race. They gave the interview to, of all places, People magazine.
I am curious, why are the Edwards' endorsements two of the most significant?? He was a one-term senator and she was what?? I like the Edwards, however, I think Elizabeth sometimes gets too testy, especially since she was not the one runnning for President. I will be might disappointed if John Edwards endorses Hillary. Shurly he has witnessed her lies, fraudulant claims (Bosnia, Ireland, China, and her self-proclaimed "experience"; her nasty trash-and-burn tactics, slander, throwing the kitchen sink, and downright total ugliness. If he does indorse her, it will expose him and confirm he possesses the same kind of shoddy values as she, and that is something about which to be sad. Regardless of who he endorses, Senator Obama will still be the nominee.
Yup, Edwwards you two Too Late to make any impact. But nice try!
I agree with Buck Morris. Kucinich had it right: an expansion of Medicare. Morally speaking, there's no place for profit in health care.
Edwards ran on a poverty platform.
Poverty = lazy bastards
Now I have to pay these lazy goons who dont want to go out there and work?
Yeah right...
John Edwards has the best plans. I hope he becomes VP
If the media didn't have a big love afiar with obama Edwards would of been in the race still
I think Edward is holding on having a clear eye on the VP for the winning candidate. It is clearly for the power and position he is looking at and not on what is good for the country. If he is a real leader, he should jump out from the fense and declare to the public that from his point of view, Obama or Clinton is the right President for America and I support him/her. That would also turn this endless race to reach and end and Doms can start the real race against Mc.
I think Edward is holding on having a clear eye on the VP for the winning candidate. It is clearly for the power and position he is looking at and not on what is good for the country. On the gas tax issue, how can Hillary Clinton scam the voters into thinking that it's going to happen this summer? It's not. First of all, it's unlikely that it would pass Congress in time (if at all) to have any effect this summer. Secondly, George Bush would veto it if it did pass.
NONE of the candidates understand economics to my satisfaction.
McCain at least has the sense to know that bigger government can actually hurt growth.
An excess profits tax is not just dumb, it's dangerous. Assuming excess profits were earned (what is the meaning of excess anyway?), companies would have less to funnel towards growth (less exploration, fewer refineries, fewer jobs, etc.) This would do little to alleviate prices b/c it would limit supply in the face of increasing demand globally. This would only lead to HIGHER prices. This is basic economics and it really works this way. People can throw insults, get angry, and talk about their feelings, but that won't change the way economics works.
He can't just sign over his delegates as if it's a business transaction. Edwards delegates are just as much "free agents" as the so-called "super delegates" are. He can endorse, then it is assumed his delegates will follow his lead; however, they are not under any obligation.
I continue to get frustrated by the media's positioning that even the pledged delegates signed in stone to their candidate of choice. That's just not true. This is a fluid race -- and I like it that way. I like it that people have to choose to stay with a candidate or not. This is a BIG decision. Our country has real problems that need real solutions as soon as possible. I say the process continues until the "bitter" end (which I really don't think will be bitter at all).
Edwards (like Bill Richardson) didn't step up when it mattered most. How is it that Elizabeth Edwards' views are equally important in this People Magazine interview? She is weird. Maybe he's a bit henpecked? I don't think John Edwards will be VP or Attorney General or anything in either an Obama or Clinton administration. The man simply doesn't have a lot of political chutzpah.
Who cares? Edwards is a loser who couldn't even win his home state in 2004.
Edward is a coward. Sitting on the fence for what? Does he need more info to make up his mind? Is he slow or something? Oh wait... he is holding out for the vp spot. I wish he would focus on his wife and the time she has remaining. Coward!
in response to SoCalSpartan, um I didn't see the term "victor" being mentioned, and what does clinton had to do with your answer to him? or are you just putting up stuff TOTALLY UNCONNECTED just to promote your Obama-Addicted Personality? is this what Obama's Message is? I"LL GO WITH CLINTON then
Coward, he's just waiting to jump on the band wagon of either of two, depending how the other SuperDelegate cowards choose. Just looking for a "Juicy" position in the administration. Both of them should just let him hang out to dry once the convention is over.
Yes JoyWinnie... nothing to stop all of Hillary's pledged delegates from switching over and preventing the superdelegates from overturning Obama's win, just in case they have any bright ideas.
Or was that not what you had in mind?
Edwards is a nonentity. He and his wife should sit down and keep their a- - quiet, they have nothing to contribute to this campaign. It is my opinion that John Edwards is jealous of Mr. Obama's success. He can keep his two delegates and go and get his $400.00 haircut with them.
This country is moving on with a man that has foresight and a dream for the American people.
And that's all I have to say on this issue.
Misleading ads? Has she seen the Karl Rove-esque bin Laden ads that Hillary runs? Give me a break. Hillary is the biggest fear mongering phony I have ever laid eyes on. If she wins the nod I'd vote for McCain. I'd rather have a democratic congress and republican president any day over a lying manipulative power hungry robot who is an absolutely TERRIBLE policy maker and has a proven track record of not accomplishing anything aside from withstanding endless character assassination to which she has clearly not learned anything from. The only thing this woman is good for is big business, division, and being so out of touch that she cannot pump gas or work a coffee machine.
Edwards needed to make a decision today (Tuesday) if his opinion was to matter at all. He didn't and now he is of no consequence. Sitting on the sidelines rather than making a hard decision can only be because he doesn't want to jeopardize his chance at a position in the new Democratic administration. I mean who hasn't made up their mind by now? Same old politics as usual from Edwards. And who would pick him for VP. He couldn't even carry his own state in 2004.
Just do not forget the Clintons' assault on math, English, history, fair play, the facts...all as it suits their need to win at any cost.
Really, for the good of all, please read a brief review of just a handful of their continuous shenanigans.

We cannot afford to put this kind of abuse of power in the White House. What a shame it would be for our country, and how sad and dangerous it would be.
Bottom line, if you are voting for or already voted for Hillary. YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM WITH THIS COUNTRY.
WAKE UP, this country is going downhill fast, we can't wait another 4 to 8 years to start fixing this.
Yeah, can we afford to listen to people like John McCain on the gas tax holiday, when he himself has said that he "doesn't understand" the economy? And they both press on, in spite of the advice of all those "elite" experts who actually know what they're talking about.

Hilliary does not understand the economy either---look how she was broke coming into New Hampshire, spending foolishly on such things as the "likeability tours" and all the Hilla-copters, Hill-a-this, Hill-a-that, etc. Buying vegetable trays, sandwich trays, fruit trays, pizza, and doughnuts for the caucus goers. Funny thing is for all her Hill-a-whatevers, likeability tours, and food bribery(?), Iowa did not buy any of her crapola---she came in third!! Iowa got it right!! On top of that she owes middle-class vendors and bisnesses approximately $8 Million which she seems very reluctant to pay....these people are the same middle-class she goes around hollering and lying about fighting for them. If she refuses to pay these vendors and business people now, I am sure she'll forget about the middle class once she gets their votes! She owes Mark Penn about $4 Million, and his company over $10 Million, and herself and Bill (JOINT ACCOUNT) $5 Million which they "loanded" her campaign. Wonder how she plans on paying all these millions?? Anyway, her inability to handle her campaign monies proves to me she doesn't know a darn thing about economy!! Yet, she THINKS SHE IS THE EXPERT OF ALL TIME! Not listening to the true professional, expert economists bespeaks of how she likes things: "MY WAY OR NO WAY"!! Folks, that spells DISASTER!!
it was so sad to see hillary talk about taking OPEC to task last night. she did say anything and everything to get a vote. can you imagine her going to OPEC...all she will get is a burkah w/ a red X market on the front and the back. she is such a begger.
It will take another Clinton to clean-up another Bush mess.
"This is the Barack Obama I have known for nearly 15 years -- a careful and even-handed analyst of law and policy, unusually attentive to multiple points of view.
The University of Chicago Law School is by far the most conservative of the great American law schools. It helped to provide the academic foundations for many positions of the Reagan administration.
But at the University of Chicago, Obama is liked and admired by Republicans and Democrats alike. Some of the local Reagan enthusiasts are Obama supporters. Why? It doesn't hurt that he's a great guy, with a personal touch and a lot of warmth. It certainly helps that he is exceptionally able.
But niceness and ability are only part of the story. Obama also has a genuinely independent mind, he's a terrific listener and he goes wherever reason takes him.
But Obama is not a compromiser; he does not try to steer between the poles (or the polls). "Triangulation" has no appeal for him. Both internationally and domestically, he is willing to think big and to be bold. He publicly opposed the war in Iraq at a time when opposition was unpopular.
As president, Obama would set a new tone in US politics. He refuses to demonize his political opponents; deep in his heart, I believe, he doesn't even think of them as opponents. It would not be surprising to find Republicans and independents prominent in his administration.
Obama wants to know what ideas are likely to work, not whether a Democrat or a Republican is responsible for them. He assumes decency and good faith on the part of those who disagree with him. And he wants to hear what they have to say. Both in substance and in tone, Obama questions the conventional political distinctions between "the left" and "the right". To the extent that he is attracting support from Republicans and independents, it is largely for this reason.
From knowing Obama for many years, I have no doubts about his ability to lead. He knows a great deal, and he is a quick learner. Even better, he knows what he does not know, and there is no question that he would assemble an accomplished, experienced team of advisers. His brilliant administration of his own campaign provides helpful evidence here.
My own concern involves the importance of internal debate. The greatest American presidents (above all Lincoln and Roosevelt) benefited from robust dialogue and from advisers who avoided saying, "how wonderful you are," and were willing to say: "Mr President, your thinking about this is all wrong."
In the 2000 campaign, Bush proclaimed himself a "uniter, not a divider", only to turn out to be the most divisive President in memory. Because of his own certainty, and his lack of curiosity about what others might think, Bush polarized the nation. Many of his most ambitious plans went nowhere as a result.
As president, Barack Obama would be a genuine uniter. If he proves able to achieve great things, for his nation and for the world, it will be above all for that reason" Cass Sunstein University of Chicago
Now imagine if we all took John Edwards' and decided not to decide. He is such a coward, afraid to alienate one of his own and jeopardize his position in Washington. Lets just sit on the sidelines and the when someone wins we'll rush the field and hug them and tell them that we were with them all the way! John Edwards is a loser with no credibility to ever be a leader of anything!
Somewhere down the line, this board turned from being a comments board about the candidates, to a flat-out bash-which-ever-candidate-you-don't-like fest. Why so bitter about John Edwards? He is not running anymore. Why he is not endorsing is neither here nor there. Get over it. What I am reading on this board is so typical of why the Democratic Party is in self-destruct mode this year. If you are a true Democrat, you need to shake off your bitterness and back-biting. I am supporting Clinton, because I have really not heard from Obama on what I think as a position for solutions of most of the real issues. But I do not agree with Clinton on the gas tax issue. Her "solution" will just make people drive more over the summer, adding to polution and causing more so-call shortages. I like both candidates, and whoever is nominated will get my BLUE Democratic vote. One more thing. I am PLEADING to both candidates: STOP the negative campaign adds and personal attacks on each other. It will only hurt the Party in the end.
It is ironic that the Edwards' characterization of Clinton is... 'old politics' ...when the basis for his campaign has always been running for the people...the masses...not the elite..which is ol' timey Democratic stump politics. It is also ironic that all of the people who support Obama willingly overlook the absolute absurdity of his statements of 'changing Washington'...No one person or small group of people will ever be able to change the status quo except the American people and only then by voting in a completely new congressional body. I know this is change and that is what Obama preaches but...but...but...who was one of his first big endorsers...none other than Teddy Kennedy...now there is an agent of change...yep and the list goes on... Hillary Clinton is the best choice for the Democratic nomination.
Edwards will not be a kingmaker with his endorsement. And that is not a whiff of old politics about Clinton, it's the stench of it. Obama has a web site with policy statements: use it, read them. Initially I supported Kucinich then Edwards and now Obama. As a Gay Democrat, I will not support a presidential candidate who is unwilling to support me in my achieving 100% of civil rights as a citizen by my participating in the protections, privileges, and rights afforded by civil marriage, not civil unions or any other approximation of a marriage, and not a religious ceremony but a civil marriage to my domestic partner of twenty-seven years. I do not want to be tossed under the bus by another Clinton who is long on political talk and short on political action. If Clinton does become the Democratic candidate, then I will change my party affiliation and cast my vote for Brian P. Moore and Stewart Alexander, Socialist Party USA.
Most of the blogs I read must be from very young
people. I can tell by thier syntax and style of writing.
Because of their youth they do not remember the
economy of the Clinton presidency. First, we did not
have a deficit. The war in Bosnia was done in a
very effcient manner. Clinton, repeatedly told the Serbs to
stop killing men, women, and children of that country.
He tried using diplomatic measures, sanctions,
monetary aid, etc.. . and they refused. When all else failed,
he sent in planes to bomb and stop the massive troop movement.
This campaign has come down to the candidate choice being made by the superdelegates. i.e. those actively involved in politics at the current time. Which is how presidential candidates were chosen until the recent past. These politico's will have much disagreement, but in the end they will choose Obama as the presidential candidate and force Barack and Hillary to run on the ticket together. The democrats will win the election. Sometime between the election in November and taking office in January, Barack Obama will be killed or so severely injured that he cannot serve, and Hillary Clinton will be sworn in as the next president of the United States. I greatly hope things won't come down that way, but I fear they will. As for Edwards, he's waiting to see how he can best serve the American people.
McCain is out of touch and would be a drastically destructive continuation of the Bush/Cheney regime, which will undoubtedly go down in history as the WORST Presidency this nation has ever had to suffer.
McCain is no longer the "beloved Maverick" of 2000 - he sold out in order to get the nomination and he's definitely on track for continuing the Bush/Cheney regime. Arianna Huffington (who loved McCain in 2000) writes an excellent article in her blog on how McCain has changed as a 2008 candidate, including selling out his pledged support for protection of POWs in exchange for Bush's public statement of support (on the same day Bush pledged to continue the internationally-illegal torture of POWs, which is very much against the Geneva Convention we are parties to). McCain could have protested, but kept his mouth shut in order to get Bush's endorsement of his candidacy.
McCain doesn't sound like Presidential material to me when he talks - he freely admits he doesn't understand the economy and I have yet to hear any truly intelligent ideas/solutions for our myriad of problems from him.
McCain's health care program is a total travesty, especially for those who need it the most, which is a class of citizens rapidly growing due to job lay-offs and rapidly-expiring unemployment and welfare until they can get employed again (which is getting harder & harder as more & more American companies move their operations overseas while Chinese goods flood the market, and the recession-becoming depression is forcing small businesses to close down completely). He is obviously far more concerned with protecting the profits of the insurance industry than protecting the health of American citizens.
Clinton represents a huge amount of negativity over her past AND present conduct, and is a divider not a uniter at a time when we desperately need a uniter. Her gas tax holiday idea is a really bad idea because the gas tax money goes to repair our transportation infrastructure which is in desperate need of repair (think of all the deaths caused by bridges breaking down, railroads breaking down, roadways breaking down). Her gas tax holiday proposal is merely a ploy to win votes without regard for the long-term consequences to our nation. Her health insurance plan is not universal as she claims. She pledged to Big Business in a closed Chicago meeting that she would not change anything that Bush is doing regardless of what she says on the campaign trail (and remember that her husband Bill and "Papa" Bush are good friends - Clintons and Bushes are simply two sides of the same coin who simply operate in different political parties). Hillary Clinton is definitely NOT what we need to fix the problems caused by Bush/Cheney.
I'm still making up my mind about Obama. If it is a choice between Obama and McCain, there's no choice - it will be Obama I vote for because at least he learned the value of community involvement, which this nation needs more of, and he earned a reputation as a Uniter even as a freshman Senator. I still have a lot of questions about his judgement, though, especially as to why he chose to have Rev. Wright as his pastor for so long and says he was unaware that the clearly outspoken Wright was so negative about white supremacy, etc.
This nation desperately needs someone who can Unite the U.S. again and repair all the damages done under Bush/Cheney and also before them, starting with Reagan's dismantling of the SynFuels Project which was designed to help alleviate American's dependence on foreign oil starting over 30 years ago (and which if left in place would have us in a vastly improved economic situation now), and Clinton's selling our valuable anti-satellite warfare technology to China which has been using it to take out satellites (practicing periodically on Amateur Radio satellites). How will our current military be able to properly operate if their satellite technology is destroyed? Clinton's actions are at least borderline traitorous in what he did, and no one did anything to stop him or punish him afterwards. He & Hillary are a team, so what Bill did, don't expect Hillary to not continue along the same lines in her own way (other than with a Monica).
However, what the mainstream media continually fails to notice is that Representative/Dr. Ron Paul (TX) is STILL in the Presidential race as a Republican. If McCain proves to be not legal to be President because by law he is not a natural-born citizen (on U.S. soil - Panama Canal is not considered U.S. soil), then Ron Paul is the only Republican alternative as a legal Presidential candidate. Our mainstream media is now controlled by entertainment moguls rather than true newshounds, and has obviously forfeited its long-held position as "The Fourth Estate" to help maintain a check-and-balance on our government. Now it is just a mere propaganda machine which has sold out to the government, and once must read foreign news media to learn about all that is going on in our nation which our own media refuses to report on.
Ron Paul has more intelligence and common sense than all the other candidates combined. He's the only one with a genuine understanding of the economy and how to fix it because he's the only one who for years has been warning that this situation was coming based on a whole series of decisions (which began long before the Bush/Cheney regime and definitely were part of the Clinton regime).
Check out http://www.RonPaul2008.com to learn more about him, or read his many books (available at http://www.Amazon.com).
The international community would rather see Ron Paul president of the U.S. than any other candidate (which would greatly improve our international standing, which is in great need of repair now thanks to Bush, and to Bill Clinton's very embarrassing behaviors as POTUS - how quickly the American public forgets the manipulation of gov't data under Clinton to make unemployment look like it was far less than it actually was, among other deceits which I'm sure Hillary will continue - not to mention his perjury about his internationally-embarrassing affair with Monica which Hillary obviously knew full well was taking place and did nothing to stop. And let's not forget all the "too convenient" deaths of numerous people who could damage the Clintons' reputation - both before and during the Clinton presidency). Do we really want/need more of the same self-centered at best/near-criminal at worst behaviors? Do we really need to elect a known proven liar as our President? We need far better than either a continuation of the Clinton regime (a la Hillary) or the Bush regime (a la McCain).
Ron Paul has a huge number of great ideas which are very carefully considered and are based on a combination of pure common sense, a great understanding of history and current events, and the high intelligence to be able to accurately analyze data and predict probable outcomes.
Ron Paul attracts more Independent voters than any other candidate, and he enjoys the support of more active & retired military because he vows to rebuild America first (which we desperately need, or we'll collapse from within - already much of our real estate and big companies are being bought up by foreign interests), rather than continually get us involved in wars and police actions we really have no business getting involved in. We are at a critical crossroads in this nation, and neither McCain nor Clinton will take the necessary actions to help prevent our "World Superpower Empire" from collapsing quickly. We don't need a military invasion to destroy us - our own politicians are destroying our nation with stupid economic decisions (not to mention sending our National Guard and National Reserve overseas where they won't be able to help us if God forbid we should ever get invaded in a military attempt to take over, and with Clinton determined to take away our Second Amendment right to own & bear arms, we won't even be able to defend ourselves, our loved ones, and our beloved nation should an invasion happen to occur under the current circumstances we are in.
We should NOT be engaged in Empire Building when our nation is collapsing economically and otherwise because Bush/Cheney are printing money out of thin air (if anyone but the Fed. Gov't was doing it, it would be prosecuted as counterfeiting because there is nothing of value backing up those new dollars).
And let us not forget that both Clinton AND Bush have been selling out our best interests to the Chinese for decades, and that China is now emerging as the new World SuperPower thanks to Clinton selling them anti-satellite technology (which could wipe out the vast majority of our communications both domestic and military) and Bush is selling out the U.S. via his nearly daily borrowing of billions of dollars from the Chinese to support his Iraq war which has nothing to do with 9-11 (Afghanistan does, but it is barely supported). Yet China sends us contaminated foods & other products which sicken & endanger our children, people, and animals, without any sort of real protest (let alone protective action) from our government or protection by our government for our own citizens in their anxiety to please China.
Check out the news about how the Chinese took over "policing" the running of the Olympic torch in so many nations regardless of how those nations felt. Consider how the Chinese treat the Tibetans now, and their own Chinese dissidents. Do we really want to be financially supporting and selling out our nation to the Chinese who are communists with the goal of becoming the world's #1 SuperPower and running the world as it suits them? Democracy is definitely not a concept they embrace, so think about how our nation & world will change for the worst if China succeeds in becoming the #1 SuperPower thanks to people like Nixon, Clinton & Bush/Cheney selling us out to them over so many decades to so greatly empower them at American expense.
Why can't the Iraqis pay for our presence over there via cheap oil sales to us if they value our presence there so much to "help" them? Why must the American people pay the price in so many ways for a war we don't belong in? If the Iraqis want to continue their nation's long history of civil war, who are we to try to stop them? Let them decide how to run their own nation. We sure aren't getting any benefits from being over there (unless you're a highly-paid government contractor making a huge profit from the war, like Haliburton, without providing the quality services needed to genuinely help fix the Iraq we ruined so much with our war against Sadam Hussein who wasn't even involved with 9-11 or our terrorist problem. The Iraq War has turned into the radical Muslims' views of America as "The Great Satan" and has only fueled international terrorism rather than help alleviate it. So what good is it for us to stay there? Especially when they have the oil we need to lower our food prices and other consumer prices, yet refuse to sell it to us at a reasonable price in order to at least partially pay for our "help" in their civil war. And now Cheney wants us to invade Iran as well. Why? We can't even afford to stay in Iraq with all the billions of dollars PER DAY that it is costing us.
We can't solve someone else's civil war by sending in our own young people (who are our future leaders) to get killed out of resentment for foreign interference with domestic affairs. And we don't even get anything of benefit in return for the deaths of our young men & women who could better serve this nation alive as our leaders for a better future.
How would Americans feel if another nation invaded America to resolve the "socioeconomic class war" (aggravated by Bush/Cheney policies & practices) and "race problem" issues facing this nation? (Not just black/white but also Hispanic - check out the Atzlan Movement via Google for some really scary stuff which is happening all over, but especially out West).
My vote will be for Ron Paul because he is honestly the best man for the job of POTUS because he's the ONLY one who has the guts to speak out honestly about what's wrong and what needs to be done to fix it.
Both John and Elizabeth Edwards are the most courageous, intelligent, experienced, people in politics, and the little bratlings who chant "loser" are too stupid to be allowed to vote, since they obviously swallow all the donkey feces fed to them by Faux Spews.
Both the Edwards are absolutely right about both media-darling candidates. I personally would have preferred Edwards with Obama as VP, but the corporate-whore media could sell more commercials by snickering about the "nigg- you know, black guy with funny name," and the "cun- you know, the Clinton bitc -- uh woman who stood by while her idiot husband fuc -- uh, got blow jobs from fat ugly women."
Obama has a better chance of beating whichever crud-head the repukes end up running, after Insane McCain has a convenient "heart attack," but Edwards would make a SUPERB VP, and I hope Obama has the sense to bring him in on it.
