GOP ratchets up against Obama
It's clear whom Republicans believe they'll be facing this fall for president. The Republican National Committee today launched a new website inviting voters to raise questions about Barack Obama's positions and qualifications.
The site, similar to one that the Democratic National Committee has had for weeks about presumptive GOP nominee John McCain, features a video with foreboding music that tries to raise troubling questions.
Among them: Obama's "present" votes as an Illinois state senator on hot-button issues such as gun control, his spending proposals and how he plans to pay for them, his comments at a San Francisco fund-raiser about "bitter" small-town voters who "cling to guns or religion."
"Can we ask," the announcer begins each question, and each is followed by the ubiquitous chant from Obama rallies: "Yes we can."
For the final question, the announcer says, "On experience, can we ask ourselves if three years in the US Senate prepares Barack Obama to be our next commander in chief?" The video then shows Obama himself saying, "Yes we can."
"Barack Obama," the announcer concludes. "Soaring rhetoric, questions to answer."

Losing one's bearings means LOSING ONE"S MORAL COMPASS.
Losing bearings is a nautical and aeronautical term; McCain should know it.
Losing his bearings is a commentary on the lack of ethics McCain demonstrates in trying to tie Obama to the Palestine government.
In fact there are not any differences in the public statements of McCain and Obama on Hamas. It was a lie by McCain.
Obama's response was not about age. But it is interesting how fearful McCain is about his age, that he tried this pre-emptive strike on age.
Apparently it is a real issue, in a way we dont yet know about.
Let's see his medical records. How is the cancer doing?
Does he have incipient Alzheimer's? Clearly his short term memory is worse than Reagan's was at the beginning of Reagan term of office.
1. Losing bearings means losing moral compass. ethics.
2. Yes, we want to know the facts about the health of the presumptive Republican nominee.
Went to the website and try to ask a question. They are editing, my question never popped up.
Great ad! Keep up the good work. Remember, all he has is "words", they don't have any meaning to them. Hope and Change? What is he hoping he will change? Our taxes?
You are so scare of him. He outsmarts McCain at any level.
Obama is not qualified to be sure. Clinton - hopefully - will get the nomination -nothing is cut in stone.
The answers are in your nearest mirror.
People emulate their friends. This is fact. Obama's friends are a bigot racist rev and an admitted terrorist against America. This guy is nothing but an anti-American nut that will bring our country down. Liberalism IS a mental disorder, and when Obama managed to vote, he was the most liberal one in congress.
Know the facts, obama is not the one!
To get an idea of whether experience is something to consider, lets take a look back at some of the past presidents in the US history:
James Buchanan: 29 years
Gerald Ford: 25 years
George H.W. Bush: 17 years
Richard Nixon: 14 years
Bill Clinton: 12 years
Ronald Reagan: 8 years
George W. Bush: 7 years
Abraham Lincoln: 2 years
George Washington: 0 years
Dwight Eisenhower: 0 years
The former president with the most experience, James Buchanan, who had 29 years of service as a representative, senator, ambassador and Secretary of State, is arguably the worst president in the US history. While Abraham Lincoln with only 2 years experience in the federal government is considered a national icon and, with George Washington, one of the most venerated leaders in our nation’s history. Going by this list, it is difficult to say that more experience is better.
Haven’t we learned in the past 7 years that you really don’t need experience to become president? I don’t think Bush is a disastrous president because he has little experience compared to other previous presidents… he’s just awfully stupid, unwilling to accept different viewpoints and ignorant of reality.
It’s more than experience that matters.
To all you "demagog" following Republicans who will vote for McCain and who probably voted for Bush (our nation's greatest disaster since the great depression) I would say only one thing.
Are you ready to vote for another four years of Bush policy?
- A bitter American who is tired of our screwed up politics. -
WHY IS IT THAT OBAMA WANT THE TO END BEFORE HE REACHES THE FINISHING LINE. HE IS MAKING PEOPLE THINK THAT HE IS GOING TO CREATE A MIRACLE AND EVERYTHING WILL CHANGE IF HE IS ELECTED NOT SO POLITICS HAS NOT CHANGE ALL OVER THE WORLD IT WILL ALWAYS BE THE SAME BOTTOM LINE THERE IS SOMETHING ABOUT THIS GUY. HILLARY FOR PRESEDENT
The near ubiquitous anti-Obama talking point of "lack of qualification" cracks me up -- if you agree with McCain's notions (essentially "more of the same") all the "qualification" in the world wouldn't sway you; you've already decided you want a "well qualified" Bush stand- in who'll sink the country further into the morass we're currently stuck in, and this is just an attempt to justify your decision. The best part is when the derision comes from folks who voted for GWB; all recent converts to the concept of "experience" I assume? Hilarious.
"Outsmarts McCain at any level" is dead on. He'll do the same on the world stage.
How can you so called Americans take up for this Obama. Look up some facts on him and ask yourself... If this guy were white, would I vote for him? Your answer WILL be an astonishing no. Americans always get fooled by the words Hope and Change. Why do so many want something different that what our fathers before us have died to build? WAKE UP AMERICA!!!
I can't wait for the DNC advertisements showing Mcsame singing "Bomb Bomb Bomb- Bomb Bomb Iran"
Great add keep it up !!! He has alot of answers t
There is a lot more to ask the "nuovo ricshh" guy.
Think Obama is about a new style of politics? Check out Todd Purdum's article 'Raising Obama' in the March 2008 issue of Vanity Fair. Obama's coldly ambitious approach to black political boss Emil Jones ('You got a lot of power. You have the power to make a United States senator') says it all.
See:

Three years in the Senate, much of which was spent campaigning. He can't even fill his suit let alone the Oval Office.
Obam-bam's arrogance is matched only by his inexperience.
I believe Hillary Clinton should be the next President. She has a lot more experience in the White House and the World. Obama only has a few years in the Senate and thinks he can change the world.
Obama is the man.

White working class southern man.
It is pathetic how the Republican party is trying to persuade its followers to turn against the ideas of hope and change. Are these bad things in a free society? Or are they the foundational ideals of a free society? There is no such thing as "only words". Words are actions, and they represent thought. It matters very, very seriously whether John McCain understood the difference between Sunni and Shi'a before sending hundreds of thousands of American soldiers into harm's way, attack on the Democratic front-runner are a sign of how far their party has fallenIt is pathetic how the Republican party is trying to persuade its followers to turn against the ideas of hope and change. Are these bad things in a free society? Or are they the foundational ideals of a free society? There is no such thing as "only words". Words are actions, and they represent thought. It matters very, very seriously whether John McCain understood the difference between Sunni and Shi'a before sending hundreds of thousands of American soldiers into harm's way, or whether 5 years of war has been unable to teach him, or whether he actually cares. It matter very greatly whether or not the GOP's empty rhetoric about protecting families and small businesses (who now pay a far larger share of the overall tax burden, thanks to George W. Bush and the policies McCain wants to continue) has anything to do with their plans or not.
The difference between Obama's rhetoric and McCain's is fundamentally fivefold:
1. Obama's demonstrates that principle underscores his approach to leadership; McCain's shows he has abandoned long-held principles in order to get ahead...
2. Obama's rhetoric relates to facts and actual plans to solve problems; McCain's rhetoric is peppered with Rovian attack language, used to mask his own lack of vision...
3. Obama offers a vision for a vibrant, dynamic, prosperous American future; McCain wants to fight Iraqi militia for "100 yeras" (his words, his timetable)...
4. Obama actually answers the tough questions, lets you know what he's thinking and speaks with force of conviction; McCain has repeatedly denied statements he is on camera saying, denied policies he voted for, and turned against the McCain of yesteryear who opposed so much of what he now claims to stand for...
5. Obama speaks about the American people with dignity and respect, demonstrates that he does not think they will swallow a bunch of nonsense or that it's unnecessary to know what one's talking about; McCain speaks to the American people as if they were frightened, impressionable children and as if he disdains the very idea of researching policy before forcing it on the US and/or the world.
The GOP clearly is out of ideas and very much afraid of having to compete against someone who has been generous enough with his time and energy to develop real ideas and viable plans for solving our major problems and helping this generation achieve the great American promise. Their schoolyard innuendo and bigoted attack on the Democratic front-runner are a sign of how far their party has fallen in recent years. McCain's biggest obstacle will likely be the obsession of the RNC for emptying all sound reasoning or evidence-based information from the American public discourse; it will only serve to cast him as a man opposed to ideas, opposed to hope, opposed to progress, prosperity and peace, and that is the absolute last thing this nation wants right now.
McCain's plan to make the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy permanent is unreasonable pandering to the right-wing "Starve the Beast" base. Obama's plan to stiffly hike the capital gains tax will implode an already-struggling financial and investing community. Obama is no better of a tax-panderer than McCain is, and they are both held captive by their Party's extreme ideologues. Clinton had the best balance of tax initiatives. However, one wouldn't have known that given the pro-Obama media's fixation with her tiny, temporary gas-tax holiday/windfall profits tax proposal. This is a great example of what happens to the tax debate, always an election-year issue for pandering, when the press misuses its voice for political agendas of its own. The media has proved that no matter how pandering and low the tax talk gets in election years, it can lower the debate even more.
Suzy your comment about taxes is misinformed. I doubt you are in the category of people who will be having their taxes increased and your willingness to fight for lowering taxes for the richest of our country while the seperation between the rich and poor in this country grows is repulsive. It is sad that in one of the richest and most "religious" countries in the world we do not have the common decency to even provide health care for the unfortunate among us.
It's a new day; get rid of the political rhetoric, candidates mired in "this is how it's always been done". Obama should and will be our next President.
Barak Obama is an intelligent, well-educated man. He gives a good speech. But is he qualified to be head of all the armed services? Is his narrow perspective (academia, Afrocentric church) sufficient to allow him to do what's best for America as a whole? Yes, he has been a Senator for three years, but he's spent two of those running for president. If you took Obama, gave him a few years of executive experience, about five times more experience as a representative, pushed him a little further to the right, and painted him white, you'd have Dennis Kucinich.
Obama is extremely intelligent and handles questions in a forthright and disarming manner. I may not agree with his plan to raise tax rates on high-income earners, but I can understand how it fits in with his philosophy of fairness. What I don't understand is how he can't see that raising the capital gains tax and raising the cap on Social Security will curtail businesses, small as well as large; those actions will reduce jobs and inflict economic harm.
My question for that phony website was: What makes you think America needs another four years of Bush, and how can you people sleep at night?
It hasn't shown up yet. I'll keep looking but won't hold my breath. Maybe when Penn and Wolfson go over to the Republicans, they will have a more intelligent and effective approach. Or maybe they won't. Look what happened to Hillary under their guidance.
Let's see Obama's Medical record, does he have incipient Alzheimer's?
You know this can come up in the 40's, he does seem to forget a lot of things.
Such as taking money from sources he said he never would etc.
In any case his campaign is a lost cause. He will never be able to pull in the vote of the white working class and the 12% black vote will not be enough to put him over the top.
When he starts talking about religion, guns and taxes he is so out of touch with mainstream America it's not even funny.
Someone has to ask these questions...the news media doesn't seem to want to ask him anything tougher than what he had for breakfast.
Fernando Canavati said here, "You are so scare of him. He outsmarts McCain at any level." Perhaps he is, perhaps he isn't. There's no way to tell if no serious questions are ever asked of him. Am I afraid of him? No. I fear for the country for what few policies I have heard from him. There is a significant difference.
I followed this site from my google page. The site is titled "Political Intelligence." Could someone please explain to me if there is such a thing? I don't think so.
ITS not over yet people lets just see if hillary can come up with something we dont know about yet, maybe we want have to deal with obama or mccain.
Barack Obama has as much experience as Abraham Lincoln, our greatest President had, when he was elected. And he has led a much more successful and accomplished life than Bush ever had before he was elected to the office. In fact, Bush had never been successful at anything other than being a drunk before being elected as Governor of Texas, which was nothing but a figurehead position anyway. The GangOfPerverts has had their Boy in office for eight miserable years. It's time for the adults like Barack and the rest of the Democrats to begin to bring our Country back from the brink of right-wing facism.
McCain may personally "take the high road", but will the GOP's guerilla 527s? Will we see more swiftboats? Will angry old white men once again steal control of the government from the will of the masses?
You 'betcha! You're doing a heck of a job there, Carly!
Ratcheting up? By asking the obvious questions that Clinton has been bashed by left-wing media for asking? Yes they are! These are important questions that drive the Clinton base to reject Obama and that will drive the majority of the national electorate to reject him, too.
This is a voice from Europe. Are you ready? Are you ready for something new? Something so new that you could call it UN-American? Something that's GLOBALLY viable?
What corporation would hire anyone without a long resume of accomplishments is similar positions to be CEO of a major corporation. Just another example of how government is not run like a business and should be.
get out Hillary, You are not going to win. Even if you win in W Virginia, Kentucky and some how persuade them to count Florida and Michigan you could never catch up. You are not but a liar and a people attacker. You are not a saint. Also I am tried of people saying that Obama is not qualified to be our President. Those that say it are just being prejedice because he is black. My husband does like me telling him what to do and there is so no way men our going to let a women President tell them what to do. So Hillary bow out gracefully and bow out now. You CAN'T WIN
What I am scared of is those people in this country that can't add a comment using proper English(See the comment from Fernando) If these people can't form proper sentences, how are they supposed to form educated and well informed decisions when they get to the voting booth? Obama may outsmart McCain but he lacks in actual experience and that counts for quite a bit more.
Obama may not have a lot of years under his belt, but at least he isn't saying illogical shortcoming statements on how to save the economy like "Lower gas tax". Economically that doesn't make any sense.
Focuseye, great comment (#24). Thanks for the insight. I keep seeing him as a 2016 candidate, if he gets some accomplishments on his record as a leader and lawmaker. But I never was able to verbalize it as accurately as the picture you have painted.
Can we ask why John McCain is so over - defensive about his age?
Suzy,
All he has is words? How else to communicate ideas, thoughts and beliefs? These notions are abstract, yet important, just as the words used to communicate them are. Hope and Change? They said there would be people like you, and I only expect your dissidence to grow louder. You can never stop me from hoping for better for our country and its' people, and you won't discourage me into believing that change is not possible. There are millions of Americans who feel the same way, and that is why Barack will be next President of the United States of America.
It doesn't matter if Obama or sHr-illary gets the nomination; they both will do the same thing if elected president. Either will continue the lame duck policy of this democrat controlled congress by successfully taking us into a recession (we aren't there yet, GDP is still on the rise). They will do it by eliminating tax cuts for everyone from corporations to the hard-working middle-class and by the end of either's first term; unemployment will sharply increase because employers can't afford as many employees. The price of gas will continue to rise because everyone on the loser-left side of the isle will continue fondling the environmentalists for their votes and maintain all regulations on domestic production. I don't care if Barack or Hillary can beat McCain in a spelling contest, they will ruin this country if elected.
But do the Republicans want that to be done by a democrat or McCain the panderer? I'm not voting for any of them - I just wish libs knew how bad their policies, or lack thereof, will destroy us.
The GOP is no better, anymore; no one sticks to their principles.
Three points for O'bama- You ARE KNOWN by the COMPANY you keep & What You are speaks so Loud, I CAN'T HEAR what you are saying. The third is, just explain how on earth do you think YOU can do all this spending when congress is the source of revenues for any expenditures.
The totally unnecessary Iraq war initiated by Bush and voted for by McCain and Hillary is destroying our economy, our military, and our reputation in the world. Gas prices are $4.00 due to the resulting instability in the middle east and the weakening dollar. If the Iraq war spills into Iran, gas may go to $8.00.
Forgetting the hundreds of thousands of lives lost, George W. Bush and anyone supporting the Iraq invasion is already responsible for a 30% additional "tax" on every American as our dollars buy less due to the massive debt. We all are paying for Bush's out of control government spending.
McCain promises more of the same ensuring the further collapse of our country. It is time for diplomacy and Barack is the only candidate interested in resolving the Iraq war created by Bush and the congress men and women who voted for this disaster.
I am very nervous about the result of the November election. Obama is so clearly communist that anyone who has actually taken a look at his record or policies will be turned off, if they have a capitalist/free market bone in their body. But the American people are not interested in researching their candidates. Sound bites rule all. Obama will tax the people into oblivion, drive companies away with his profit thievery, and generally run our economy into the ground. Then there will be no more taxes to collect to support all his programs. Who will get free health insurance then? Only those who move to Canada. Where they actually drill for their own oil.
Are they going to post Cindy McCain's tax returns on the web site?
The GOP cannot win without negative attacks. Why can't we have an contest on merits and policy alone. Let the people decide without lies. Yeah, right! the GOP would never go for that, they would always lose, these tactics are their equalizer.
>>Ed wrote: "Barack Obama has as much experience as Abraham Lincoln, our greatest President had, when he was elected."
Yes, but not relative to other modern day Presidential candidates. This is not the 1800's and people don't usually lose their teeth in their 30's and die in their 50's. I understand a Medici in the Renaissance was made Pope at age 19. Should Obama be made Pope, too, just because he's got a good talking game?
By the way, all the fake, revisionist history that Obama supporters have pulled off with the cooperation of the pro-Obama media, won't work with the conservatives. Your attempt to portray Obama as experienced as Lincoln is just plain false. He's good at rhetoric and regurgitation, which means he makes a good academic. But those talents don't mean he can do anything he wants. Obama failed as a community organizer, and went back to law school. Then, he failed to make partner at his law firm out of Harvard and went into politics. He has never outright won an election against a tough opponent, but he got opponents disqualified, or they imploded or were never viable, serious opponents. (That's part of the reason why half his strategy against Clinton has been his surrogates and media echo chamber bullying her to drop out for months now).
You Obama supporters are just plain blinded by the programming of the cult-like Obama base. Obama in no way measures up to Lincoln. From Wiki:
"[Lincoln] was elected captain of an Illinois militia company drawn from New Salem during the Black Hawk War, and later wrote that he had not had "any such success in life which gave him so much satisfaction."
"For several months, Lincoln ran a small store in New Salem.
"In 1834, he won election to the state legislature, and, after coming across the Commentaries on the Laws of England, began to teach himself law. Admitted to the bar in 1837, he moved to Springfield, Illinois, that same year and began to practice law with John T. Stuart. With a reputation as a formidable adversary during cross-examinations and in his closing arguments, Lincoln became one of the most respected and successful lawyers in Illinois and grew steadily more prosperous.[citation needed]
"He served four successive terms in the Illinois House of Representatives as a representative from Sangamon County, and became a leader of the Illinois Whig party. In 1837, he made his first protest against slavery in the Illinois House, stating that the institution was "founded on both injustice and bad policy."[10] It was also in this same year that Lincoln met Joshua Fry Speed, who would become his most intimate friend."
How can Clinton get the nomination? Change the rules? I would vote for her if it were conceivable that she could get it. There are only so many delegates left and Obama is the only one who can reach the nomination number. He needs around 160 delegates she needs 350, if they split the rest of the votes he still wins. She has to win a 75% landslide victories in the remaining contests. I don't know why all of these people want more of what the government is giving us? Maybe they have money tied in to sectors that would benefit by their candidate winning. I am tired of it. I want this country to heal, not tear itself apart. I want to invest in our future not in someone who is overseas when we go without here.
I had to quit school because my grant and scholarships ran out. I was told with a 3.5GPA in High school and 1400 SAT would get me all the money I needed to get my degree and any future education. How are your children going to go to college? How are we going to compete for these jobs that are being outsourced, the ones that require a college degrees, the ones we are switching our factory jobs for. I don't care how much I pay in taxes if I get free health care and a way to get free education (of course GPA strings attached) for my future children or for my own. I am tired of how things are being run in our government.
Change has to start somewhere. I will be the first to apologize if Obama turns out to be a lame duck or turns us in a worse direction. But I can not with a clear conscious vote for someone who switches his/her ideologies for that of their party (McCain) just to become their nominee or for someone who is promising us things they can not give. When would we get this gas tax holiday? This Summer? Next summer? The Oil Co.'s are running unchecked a gas tax break won't stop it.
Oh the max an individual can donate is $2300. How much can lobbyist's and companies donate? It's individuals donating $2300 at a time. Sure it may be a CEO or their wife but $2300 is a lot less than influence than $23,000 that a company donating or a lobbyist donating would have.
Sorry for the length of this post I had to get this off of my chest
Bill Clinton destroyed our military, and left our economy in a recession... and let's face it, his illegal actions as president damaged our country's image around world far worse than anything Bush has done, or his critics claim he's done.
All those questions have been asked and answered. Republicans really should pay attention.
I can't wait for him to go against Senator McCain.
Experience? First of all, if there is such a thing as "experience" for the white house, George Bush should have been an excellent president his 2nd term and still better towards the end of his term. Has that happened?
Experience? Obama has more experience as an elected official than Hillary Clinton. ANd that's a fact.
Experience? it's intelligence nad wisdom that counts. IN management studies, this is well known and is called "the experience trap"" .http://knowledge.insead.edu/TheExperienceTrap080201.cfm?vid=17

As a legacy admission (admitted because of his father), Senator McCain finished number 894 out of 899 in his graduating class from the Naval Academy in Annapolis. 5th from the bottom of his class, and he admittedly didn't care! He was a rebellious hard-drinking hell raiser. This should remind you of Bush, except that Bush doesn't have a volatile temper like McCain does. Bush, as a pilot, never crashed three different military jets like McCain did, two of which were stateside, including one in Corpus Christi bay! He may have sold out as a POW (let the vetting begin), comes back and abandons his wife (who to this day refuses to support his presidential aspirations). He cheats on his wife, marries an incredibly rich woman, with a drug problem, successfully gets elected as Senator as a POW/war hero, repeatedly alienates and distances himself from his republican senate colleagues, ingratiates himself with the liberal press because of the latter, and now expects us to make him our second stupid president in a row? In the middle of two wars and a recession? Good luck with that.
As Black Bart said in the movie 'Blazing Saddles,' "Oh baby! You are so talented, and they are so dumb."

Thank you for posting those figures. The question of Obama's experience isn't one I found a lot of merit in, but I hadn't see concrete numbers to support what my gut had been telling me all along.
A democratic congress and a democratic president does not = lame duck.
A democratic congress and a republican president = lame duck
A republican congress and a democratic president = lame duck
A republican congress and a republican president ='s doom
If both branches are same party they are not going to veto or stall bills.
I don't think that word means what you think it means
All I know is that Obama BETTER answer each and every question that the ad asks, or he will appear to be weak and incompetent like some of you good people say!
I support him because he is against THE WAR but he has to starting pushing back at these lunatics
Obama is better qualified because of what he is and because of what he isn't.
Both Clinton and McCain are mindless yes men. Clinton will say what ever it takes to get the nomination. The only thing she has show is a lack of good character. McCain just has no idea what is going on. It is great that he served but that does not qualify him for running a government. I would conclude the opposite.
Obama is a man who is facing the criticism with an open honesty and true character. He is smart enough to evaluate a situation and make sound judgement.
It's comforting that most negative comments posted here are so poorly written. These are people who voted for Bush, and blindly follow whatever the latest ads tell them to. Intelligence will trump experience every time, unless you stack the deck against a player. Bush was the most inexperienced "Leader" we've ever seen, yet his crowd managed to steal the election twice. First they stole it by strong-arming the Supreme Court, then they stole it with the help of the CEO of Diebold - the company that makes the electronic voting machines. Meanwhile, the Republicans recently shot down a bill that would have required a written, verifiable record for electronic voting in the next National election. Anyone want to guess how the next election will go? Lemmings. we're all lemmings. We let them take us into Iraq, we let them steal the last two elections, and we're about to let them do it all over again. We're all paying for it. We're all guilty of allowing them to lead us into the mess we're in. And now we waste time arguing over experience, the qualifications of an intelligent man who happens to be non-white, and the dubious accomplishments of Bush. Clintons are part of the political machine that got us into Iraq. McCain is beholden to the Bush Dynasty. That only leaves the young upstart who actually believes he can derail the machine - Obama. But he won't win. Who are we kidding? We're paying $4+ a gallon right now. What happened to the protests? We can even find our voice in opposition to that. And we think we're going to change something? Lemmings.
Please raise the level of your writing here - most of you seem to be old enough to have attended school before the recent precipitous decline in educational performance.
Take a breath now and then - check your spelling and think about how stupid, mean, or juvenile your comments actually are.
Don't call names - good grief, people grow up!
Whoever gets elected president will be balanced out by Congress and the Courts - the Ship o' State isn't a dingy; it's harder to turn than you think. It's not the end of the world, regardless of who's elected.
Learn the meaning of communism, socialism, capitalism and other economic systems. While you're at it, learn about democracy, republics, monarchies and dictatorships. Then maybe you won't call someone a communist who's not - it really makes you look stupid when you do so. Do you know anything about Marxism, really? Don't use it if you don't know what it is.
By the way, to those of you who would judge Sen. Obama by every person he ever knew or met, take a look around you at home, in your neighborhood, your town, and on this blog - would you associate with the some of the cranks here if that rule applied to you?!
What will we be saying to the world about our own country if we vote the anti-American Obamas into the White House? They are 20 year elitist disciples of anti-American Rev. Wright and the compatriots of U.S. terrorist Bill Ayers. Having them in the White House will be both a desecration of the presidential position and a desecration of that historic and symbolic building. We'll have to endure yet another embarrassing moment to our country.
It doesn't surprise me to see and read all the rhetoric against John McCain. As a parent raising 3 children with my wife I cannot think of a better reason why I should vote for anyone but John McCain.
What experience does he have to lead OUR Nation with his limited experience and anti-economic growth ideas? Raise taxes, take from the haves (who drive the economy) and give to the less fortune(redistribution of wealth), have questionable influences as mentors and confidants.
His ideas ideas will weaken our economy (Economics 101)--more taxes equals less revenue to the government. His stance on the Iraq War will do what President Clinton did for our military, weaken it to a point of not being able to defend our country in the event of future terrorist attacks.
I don't want to see more than $500 Billion added to our current spending but this is what will happen if Obama's policies are enacted. Do any of you want to fund this $500 Billion? I hope not.
John McCain, although not the best candidate- there will never be a "best" candidate for all, brings experience in both defense of the country and the best possibility to correct the economic downturn through stable, pro-growth economic policy through conservative monetary policy (Stop printing more to strengthen the dollar) and keep taxes low to allow the economy to turn around on it's own. He has not been known as the "Maverick Senator" from Arizona for nothing. He believes in reaching out to Democrats and Republicans to focus on issues that work to benefit the country and not a small group of elitists.
Which of the presidential candidates has sacrificed more, worked longer and set an example of unselfish service to our country? Which one has produced nothing but verbiage and hot air? List the legislation sponsored or co-sponsor by each.
Thank you, keeanjay, for a breath of fresh air. Vitriolic diatribes are redily dismissed for the uninformed inanities they represent.
Let's get back to the issues, solutions and progress...instead of finger pointing.
A thought about the price of gas, would suggest that simple supply and demand might ease the pain. Use less gas, lower the price. We should all take responsibility in trying to conserve resources, rather than looking to government to apply a band-aid.
Barrack for president!
On behalf of Africans and on behalf of peace lovers.
The article, JDT, is about a website against Obama, not John McCain. What experience do any of the three candidates have to lead OUR (sic) nation more than the others? With due respect to McCain, I do not see how being a POW somehow makes one a better leader. In fact, even after that horrible experience McCain backed down on his opposition to torture at Guantanamo. If anything, McCain has shown himself to be a complete waffler; he will change his stance at the drop of a hat. Perhaps his POW experience somehow damaged his ability to hold a position. As for the military, McCain would keep us in Iraq, which will keep us weak--we are already too weak to continue the fight effectively in Afghanistan, so the Taliban is regaining power. We are weak right now--open your eyes and see the truth. Only a president willing to fix the mess we are in now will help us regain strength. McCain will not do that. A vote for McCain will hurt your family. I hope you do not opt to do that. Love them enough to vote out the GOP.
Yeah really - PAY ATTENTION REBPUBLICANS!!
Moderate Mike, what planet are you on? Bill Clinton may not have been perfect, but he was a hell of alot better than Bush. If anyone should have been impeached, it should be W. He has broken the law several times during his administration, but no one has enough courage to take him on. His administrationb has broken the law by having the phone companies illegally spy on Americans and has also broken the law by authorizing torutre of "enemy combatnts." Maybe we would better off if George Bush was getting a little on the side like Bill did.
1. Obama will raise capital gains tax to 28%...therefore anyone who INVESTS their money will pay more taxes. (Yes, a 401k is an investment...so Baby Boomers be careful).....also no cap on Social Security taxes....awesome
2. Obama will "stop the flow of corporate money though Capital Hill". Yeah right...go ahead and make these big corporations mad....then they will derail any "change" you want to implement. Money = Power....always has, always will.
3. Obama wants to have a foreign policy where America is "liked"....that was the last one we had before Bin Laden decided that he didnt "like us" anymore.
4. You would not want someone with 2 years experience running a billion dollar company.....why would you want someone running the COUNTRY with 2 years experience....ok yeah....because we want change, I forgot.
5. I think MSNBC should change their name to "Obama HQ"
6. Rev Wright.....soooo you didnt know what he was saying for 20 years.....right.
7. Exactly what is your heath care policy....oh yeah, I help pay for the people who do not have it including illegal immigrants...keeps on getting better.
8. Gas prices....Obama will solve the energy crisis by creating "green jobs"....nice one Obama (go ahead and say it....it's Bush's fault). He OF COURSE controls oil futures...maybe Ill get me one of those "green jobs"
9. "Yes we can"......yes we can what??? Take Washington back and give it to the people.....go ahead Obama, just let me know when I can invest in the stock market again and actually try and live the American dream, not pay for it.
Thank God for America, where we all get to say what we think!
Annette Keller's info about Lincoln, from Wickipedia, shows almost as many similarities as disparities between Obama and Lincoln. Both are lawyer-idealists. Both passionately wanted - want - the unity of this country.
Forgive me, but Lincoln actually seems more like a 21st century Democrat than a 21st century Republican.
The middle names of all Presidents, present and past, are known and often used in the media. Why is Obama ashamed of his? Why don’t we hear or read it in the media? What other secrets is he hiding from the electorate/public?
Bob. People emulate their friends? Really?
My friends include an Iraqi who believed (at one time) that terrorism is the only way a small group can be heard. An oppressed Afganistani woman who learned how to LIVE when she moved to the US. A major in the army who believes that Obama is a muslim and part of an African conspiracy to take over America. A sister who is convinced that snakes can talk (because the Bible says so). And at least one Hawaiian who hates all haoles (whites) because of their inherent, chronic, and incurable racism. Except for white women. He loves white women but I digress.
How many of your friends would you vote for to be president? You love Uncle Fester, but he's a bigot who thinks that intermarriage is evil. You treat Cousin Brucie with kid gloves because he has 5 loaded machine guns in his office even
though he's great with your kids. Your minister thinks that environmentalists bastions of deceit and work for the devil -- yet he still makes you feel good on Sunday morning. I could go on.
So what if Obama's one-time pastor spewed forth nonsense in amongst the meaningful rhetoric that helped people in despair find some sense out of their loneliness?
See Mike Huckabee's take on all this and learn something. Of all the people who have commented on Wright's statements, his is perhaps the most poignant, and he is one of more than a few Republicans that deserve the respect and admiration of all of us, even if some of them have weird perspectives on global warming or religion.
Look at Condeleeza Rice's friends and family. Most of them are Democrats with entirely different viewpoints on Bush's performance. Are they any less friends or family in her mind because of this? In my opinion, that shows her humanity, doesn't it?
Bob, let's see if you can show yours.
I'm white working class, and so is all of my extended family who work in Indiana's steel mills. Guess who we're not only voting for but also active in supporting. Not who the fake polls would tell you. We're voting for Obama. The only reason he didn't win Indiana is because of the Dittohead lemmings who follow the likes of a drug addled radio announcer with his "Operation Chaos." (An appropriate name since the only thing Republicans create is chaos!) Republicans won't have a chance in November and will lose not only the Presidency, but also the Congress, statehouses, and governors. Wait and see, even traditionally Republican Indiana will vote Democrat this November.
Kurt, Why do you want to place the trust of a presidency to turn this country around to a man who has vowed to get us out of the current war on terrorism and who is willing to meet with people our government defines as enemies. I am glad to see that McCain has a backbone and will stand up against this form of foreign policy.
Get with the program, since McCain is someone who has been a POW does not make him immediately qualified but it places him in a better position to understand through EXPERIENCE the function of the military and his stance on past issues makes him much more qualified than the first term senator from Illinois.
Realize one thing, everything changed as we know it changed on September 11, 2001. The state of foreign policy, military and defense issues, and economic issues are what matter now. To trust that to Obama will hurt all of us much more than electing McCain. FYI Check out www.johnmcain.com for more information on the candidate. You may be surprised.
THANK YOU REALITY... BEST SAID!!!
The reason he doesn't use his middle name probably came from his handlers pointing out that complete idiots will equate the name to an evil dictator that America at one time embraced.
Islamics are wonderful people. Radical Islamics aren't.
Christians are wonderful people. Radical Christians aren't.
There REAL QUESTION the GOP should be asking itself is...What are we gonna do we do when HE CAN answer these questions? And does so specifically, honestly and convincingly?
By the way...YES, HE CAN.
Still Obama is my first choice. He is excellent and I trust him. McCanin=W. Bush, Hilary is a soft version of McCain.
Thanks.
inspiredinFlorida:
The answer?
SHOUT HIM DOWN!
PLUG MY EARS!
HATE HIM MORE!
I believe we as a nation have lost our way. The Clinton and Bush administrations have been bad for our country. Over many years we have raised a culture of people who believe they are due entitlements whether they do anything or not. Government should help people who really need help but not those who just sit on their behinds expecting a handout. Clinton and Obama would continue this type of culture. As a hardworking, taxpaying citizen, McCain is my choice. He is experienced and a moderate. He has proven that he has the character and the integrity to lead the country and help us return to the principles upon which this nation was founded. We know too much about Hillary and nothing about Obama.
Dear Zoyd [1:15p.m.],
Between both Hillary and Obama, they've got about one-half the vote in Indiana. And, polls say about one-half of Hillary voters will not vote for Obama in the general election. That means, Obama gets 37.5% of the general election vote. This will not be enough to win the Presidency.
I take exception to post #59. I'll pit my academic credentials (M.A., Political Science; Juris Doctor) against "William"'s any day. Sorry to deflate your stereotype of Republicans, sir, but many of us are intelligent and thoughtful. Enough to realize that Obama's comments about "talking" to the likes of Ahmandenijad (sp?) is akin to Neville Chamberlain's guarantee of "peace in our time" after talking to Adolph Hitler. Which is why we don't trust him, or Carter, or McGovern....
Should I say something about black Democrat's mutilation of the English language, as evidence by the "hip hop" culture?? Oh no, that would be stereotyping, wouldn't it?
I see a thread throughout all of Obama's questionable associations with Rev. Wright and Bill Ayers. All of the problematic relationships are people that Obama has worked with and relied upon for advice and support have been hard-core Marxists that are completely committed to attacking America at every turn. Ayers was such a Marxist that he led a group of bombers attacking the Pentagon, NYC Police and various other TARGETS! He is still standing on the American flag to express his feelings toward America. Rev. Wright promotes liberation theology from Nicaragua during their war with American backed contras. It is a Marxist socialist Christian "religion" which focuses on the masses struggle for liberation instead of a loving Christ. I believe that if the socialists gain power, they will crush all religion like they tried to do in Russia, North Korea, Cambodia, Cuba, etc. so this is just an intermediate step.
to #82. you are a racist.
Anyone else getting a sinking sick feeling about all these candidates?
obama will be the discruction of our country
his leftist ways , his Rev Wrong, his one page resume
i think all of the obamites are short on SMARTS and long on dumbs
Obama scares me...
Michael, for someone who posted merely to brag about your academic credentials, you seem remarkably unable to form a complete, grammatically correct sentence. Adding to the irony is your next to last sentence which whines about the mutilation of the English language while ignoring the fact that Barack Obama does far less damage to your beloved native tongue than George W. Bush on his best day.
Let me know where you got your degree. I'd like to order a few myself.
I've read a little over 70 posts here and I see that there are a lot of empty cans rattling. Both candidates are good people with different points of view.
I don't know about Huckabee trying to cover up his kid killing a dog.. but that seems fishy to me and he's someone I wouldn't vote for.
Bush won the election and Kerry lost plain and simple and that is a fact. However, Kerry was the intellectual. Now we look at McCain and Barrack who are both intellectuals.
McCain hates terrorists because he was a POW and I can respect that. After all, isn't that why we love Iron Man which recently came out.
Barrack cares about poor people because he was poor. I can relate and I had to deal with some thugs driving down my block last night in Northeast Phildelaphia shooting off a few bullets (near Oxford Circle if anyone knows the neighborhood) and I was too afraid to call the police because I don't make enough money to get out of the neighborhood and I don't want to piss off the drug dealer on my block. I'm afraid of being shot which is selfish I suppose because I should call the cops. Anyway, I can understand from his point of view because poor people with guns in the city is bad news. Guns in the country... NRA all the way!
Looking over the policies of both of these men makes me realize that the only thing they can fix from a President's point of view is the overall. You can't fix illegal guns in the city. You have to fix the poor people being poor. A lack of drugs is only one thing poor people fight over. Small business, believe it or not, is another thing people will fight each other over.
Not to go off on a tangent but we have to focus that the president is not there for local matters. With two men, as smart as they are, that are not involved in a racial issue like many of the voters. They believe they have the best policy for the overall.
If we look at McCain's policies then we see a lot of people who are already stable continuing to be stable. That's fair and reasonable and without change. I certainly support getting to the top and staying there.
But we live in America, we need a path to the top. This isn't a world based on the amount of work that you do. It's based on the amount of money you can control. If we don't have opportunities for poor people to become rich then we are hurting ourselves in the long run. Just as the poor need to work hard to become rich.. the rich need to work hard to stay rich. I truly believe that business is the way to go there.
What are we seeing though? Hybrid cars coming out way too late. Gas Prices that are raping us all including large companies. Hell, I would vote for a tax refund on large companies getting hybrid tractor trailers. You know what that would do for us. It would open up the technology to us and the large companies would spend less and less on transporting goods across the country or possibly even overseas. If UPS pays too much for gas then we pay too much to ship. The same goes for every other company.
My point is that some Republican points are very good for the country and so are many Democratic points. As americans, we have to focus only on the overall points that will help us as a whole for the whole country when we vote for President.
We need to let the Candidates know that we don't want negative advertising.. we want to see the reasons for picking them as the best candidate.
Putting that aside, I want to see at least three posts for each of the candidates that are positive, accurate (with citations) and give someone a reason to vote for that person.
Remember you attract more flies with honey then you do with vinegar.
I'm concerned that if we don't get along we are going to see a 2nd civil war in america and we can't afford that with outsiders waiting for a reason to attack.
It sounds like #82 has some good points, but bringing his degrees into the argument isn't going to sway anyone, Washington is full of people who have
Political Science degrees and Law degrees and look at he mess we're in.
Most successful presidents surround themselves with exceptional people and I wouldn't like to see a lot of Rev Wrights or retired sailors or a bunch of pant suit models running Washington...
Lastly #82 should have had Nixon an Dubya in his list of untrustworthy types.
To Moderate Mike:
What planet do you live on?"Bill Clinton destroyed our military, and left our economy in a recession... and let's face it, his illegal actions as president damaged our country's image around world far worse than anything Bush has done, or his critics claim he's done."
YOu actually believe that? Have you ever traveled? Have you ever lived in a foreign country? I moved to Italy and traveled in Europe when Clinton was president. People jumped up and down and shouted his name. People were happy and they loved Americans. Everyone was shocked that such a big deal was made about a blow job. Now, since Bush has been in office no one asks where you are from they don't want to know. Everyone is terrified. Why? Because of the horror we Americans have unleashed in Iraq and the terrible situation in which we have left Afghanistan, as well as the biggest transfer of wealth ever taking place between the super rich and everyone else- take it all! Take it all now! Bush has managed to ruin the whole world, but since there are so many myopic, uneducated, selfish, wasteful idiots living in the uSA- i.e. half the voters, we don't care. We just want our big cars and the latest gadget and to watch some crap on TV to help keep our minds dull as lead. And George Bush makes us feel smart! yeah, thats why half the idiot voters voted for him- twice. Cause den dey dont feel so dumb! Havin an idiot in office makes ya feel real smart! You will be feeling really dumb when they take it all away from you- and you don't have a hat left to cry in. That is what the Bush - Mc Cain crew are going to do to America so that they can enrich their buddies the oil and arms dealers, the Bin-Ladens, the Saudis.
God help us! None of the three remaining candidates should have made it this far. Of all three Obama represents the greatest risk for this country. Just look at the stock market since Tuesday. It is down several hundred points. That is what I call an Obama stock market rally. The stock market is a leading indicator of what is to come. We will have four years of a ruined economy like we experienced when Carter was President. It is not Obama's lack of experience, it is our lack of experience with him. Other than his book we know nothing about him. He has done nothing to deserve a promotion. He is a smooth talker that is his only qualification. If that is all that it takes let's elect a game show host.
Many complain about the coverage given to Reverand Wright but in our lack of knowledge about Obama the public grasps at anything to get some insight about this man. He said that he belonged to this church for 20 years to deflect the questions about a possible islamic background. Now that Reverand Wright seems to be a racist, Obama wants to distance himself from that church. There is no way that he remained a part of that church without knowledge of the true Reverand Wright.
I hate to say it but the whole his whole campaign is really about reverse racism. His overwhelming support by the Afro American community indicates that they are making their choice along racial lines only and are unwilling to even consider another candidate. If a white American questions Obama's strengths/weaknesses the race card is played and they are branded as a racist.
What will the country be like if he is elected? Probably extreme division as opposed to unity.
As a life long Democrat I supported Carter and I was sorry. Now the Democratic party is shoving Obama down our throats. They are making our decisions for us. So much for Democracy. As a resident of Michigan we are being disenfranchised. The race is not over but through the interference of the leaders of the Democratic party they are pushing to influence the direction of the election. I am now tired of it all. At this point I will use all of my influence with the unions of Michigan to show our protest against the leadership of the Democratic party by withholding our votes for President come November if they do not stop interfering and pushing Clinton to quit. If Obama is the best candidate he will be strengthened by a vigorous fight with Clinton. What are they worried about?
My vote goes to McCain only because Huckabee did not get the GOP nomination, although he does have a great record but of course everyone has flaws. Hopefully, McCain will realize he needs Huckabee in the gen. election. Obama's 3 years in the senate 2 of which are spent campaigning simply doesn't cut it for me. And his outrageous idea that a 500 billion dollar universal health care bill and 28% capital gains tax will somehow help America is evidence of his true character. I am a business owner and it makes me sick that if Obama is elected I will be forced to close my business. It's common sense, by raising taxes for business' and middle class, you are going to force those business' to lay-off majorities of their work force, thus resulting in unbelievable amounts of job loss (even more than we are seeing now due to Free Trade). Whatever you do, make an educated decision in your vote, please do some research and come to a conclusion about which candidate will benefit you the most based on their previous record.
To #85: No. I am not getting a sinking sick feeling about Clinton, Obama or McCain, just about some of those writing on this blog who are so full of hate and disrespect ... Come on people! This is America! Freedom of speech comes with a price. It is paid for in part with a currency anyone can afford: respect. We can have major differences of opinion and belief, and still treat each other with respect.
Obama wants to be President of all "57" states. LOL... Should it not be a requisite to know how many states there are in the US of KKK-A prior to running for CEO?
http://hotair.com/archives/2008/05/09/obama-i-want-to-be-president-of-all-57-states/
Who lost his bearings?
#82, I appreciate your likening of Obama's designs on Ahmadinejad to that of Hitler and Neville, but must say I don't quite find it accurate. The key difference is mainly that of ability. Hitler was effing nuts and had the capacity to battle the world. Ahmadinejad is also effing nuts, but his capabilities are so much lower it makes such a comparison unfair.
To Moderate Mike: Actually it was Rumsfeld who destroyed our military. his insistence on such a small mobile, highly skilled force heavily reinforced by air strikes was indeed a military revolution, but it has left us with such small numbers that we are unable to adequately police Iraq. Further, There are less volunteers for the military because few want to head off to such a dumbfuck war. As a result, the people the military has to accept are of lower quality. Military spending is pretty high right now and has been for a while, so I'm not sure exactly what Clinton did that has had such overarching effects on the military.
The problem with Obama is that a message of change is easier to speak than it is to enact. The political system right now is so entrenched it's almost impossible to die their corrupt asses out. Another problem is that people are stupid. Why else haven't we made further advances into green energy? In a world with a constantly dwindling oil supply why do we still give all the tax breaks to the oil companies instead of to the companies producing the types of energy that will actually be around?
we've got some problems ahead of us. I don't think McCain is the one to lead us, and I feel as if Hillary is too divisive, so I guess it's Obama. I hope he does something.
that's the best they got...this is gonna be easy
As an organizer I would love to add my two cents with this: Hillary was alot of fun to go after especially when we really didnt have to do much - our candidate(Barack Obama) is the greatest candidate in 40 years hands down. Plus she made it easy with her wretched devisive politics and borderline insane and silly way of conducting herself.
Now McCain - WOW - I cant wait to go after John McCain - and Ill get paid to do it. What beats that??? I'm gonna be getting paid to make sure that Dick Cheney's sister John doesnt get elected president!!! That's awesome!!!
When these neo-cons try and debate me or talk nonsense with no real knowledge of the issues (you guys know what I mean if you've been reading these comments by them) I dont have to exert much energy at all to shut them down. I simply ask them what McCain's stance is on a particular issue and then after they give their answer I simply ask - "is that this week or last week"....and walk away
OBAMA Forever!!!!
Hi, I would like to present some 'opinions' I got playing an online game with this individual calling himself fisher_rider04:
interblava> hi
fisher_rider04> hi
interblava> where from
fisher_rider04> north florida
interblava> boston
interblava> how old
fisher_rider04> 21
interblava> did u vote
fisher_rider04> for what
interblava> prez candidate
fisher_rider04> no, technically i am undecided so I cant
interblava> technically you can, but you don't want to
fisher_rider04> hey were voting for a nigger or a woman for president!
fisher_rider04> therefore mccain is going to win
I wouldn't piss on Obama if he were on fire.
Ooooo, scary.
How pathetic. Is that the best you got?
This video raises questions answered multiple times duing the primaries. I so look forward to the McCain vs. Obama debate. I like McCain a lot but he is going to be trounced in the Fall with many Republicans who will hear what Obama has to offer for the first time defecting to the Democratic party.
Certainly looking forward to this.
Obama 08
God bless Obama the hope of American people who really
has American people in his heart. We will stand with you Obama
our hope and our brightened morning star says kenyan people.AMEN
Read up on your History before you compare Obama to Lincoln. Lincoln won his nomination because he was perceived as a moderate when compared to the others running for the nomination. He ran on a specific platform His platform was to fight against the slave power of the South. This made him a moderate figure. Obama is running on a very abstract platform 'Change' Believe me, he is no Lincoln! Lincoln became famous when he had the Douglas - Lincoln debates and the points he highlighted again were specific points. As for experience, Lincoln served in the House of Representatives before leaving politics and coming back in again. As a lawyer, he had appeared before the US supreme court more than 400 times. Obama is an empty suit and no Lincoln!
#95, if you honestly believe that anyone running for president thinks there are 57 states then you are a sad excuse for a human being.
Is hotair.com a credible source? Let's assume from what you said alone and not the article that it is... have you ever stuttered or said one thing and meant to say another.
I highly doubt anyone who has reached the point of running for president would honestly believe there are 57 states.
The Islamist Extremist Groups are waiting patiently for Barrack Hussein Obama to give them the code to enter the US.Go ahead Democratic Party pick him over your fellow Amnerican lives.
Obama is part of the Republican's plan. It's becoming so clear to me. Think about it.
Obama is part of the Republican's plan. It's becoming so clear to me. Think about it.
Why isn't someone pointing out the fact that a democrat is responsible for the fannie mae and freddie mac problems, among other bank failures. It happened in 1997 when Bill Clinton was in office and he hired Mr. Cuomo to the HUD. They decided everyone should own a home regardless of their financial situation or their assets. Someone should be putting the blame where it belongs. On a democrat president' s foolish judgement. Not the republicans in congress. This
"bailout" is just another welfare program!!! Do we want another mess like this? No, We definitely want CHANGE!!
