For those who want to believe that the press is in the tank for Barack Obama -- an assertion leveled by Hillary Clinton and John McCain partisans and parodied on "Saturday Night Live" -- this bit of news will fit right into their world view:

Linda Douglass, an award-winning journalist who has been covering the campaign, is joining Obama's campaign as a senior strategist and spokesperson, Marc Ambinder is reporting on his blog on the The Atlantic magazine's website.

"I see this as a moment of transformational change in the country and I have spent my lifetime sitting on the sidelines watching people attempt to make change. I just decided that I can't sit on the sidelines anymore," she told Ambinder.

Douglass, who was a contributing editor for National Journal, has analyzed the race in TV forums including "The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer" on PBS.
