Obama brings in another $31 million, Clinton $22 million

Barack Obama's campaign announced tonight that it raised $31.3 million last month, adding to his staggering fund-raising haul.

It said it added 200,000 new donors, bringing the total to nearly 1.5 million. The average donation was $91. His campaign also said it had $37 million at the end of April to spend.

The total for April was somewhat less than the approximately $40 million he brought in during March. His total for the campaign is now more than $265 million.

The Clinton campaign said she raised about $22 million last month, compared to about $18 million in March.

The campaign said the $22 million total represented the campaign’s second best fund-raising month to date and includes $10 million raised by the campaign in the 48 hours after her Pennsylvania victory last month. The total is also in addition to a loan to the campaign of $5 million, the campaign said.

Clinton spokesman Howard Wolfson also noted that while Obama outspends Clinton in bigger states, she is winning those states. "That's the amazing thing," he said on CNN.

  1. If campaign organization and management is any measure of a good leader and manager of the country's resources then Obama get's my vote. We are in enough debt to the rest of the world as it is.

  1. The amazing thing is that 93% of the contributions to Obama's campaign were from people donating $100 or less. As long as elections have to be "bought", it's encouraging that so many regular people -- well over a million -- are getting a share of his campaign.
