Obama widens superdelegate lead

Posted by Foon Rhee, deputy national political editor May 23, 2008 01:47 PM

Barack Obama has added five more superdelegates today, wresting one from Hillary Clinton and inheriting two from John Edwards, who endorsed him last week.

UPDATE: Obama just added superdelegate Jenny Greenleaf of Oregon, whose primary he won this week. “Senator Obama has the vision and leadership ability to move this country forward and to undo the damage done by the Bush administration," she said in a statement."

Obama now has 311.5 superdelegates, according to his campaign's count, and is within 56 delegates of clinching the nomination (barring the magic number changing if the Democratic National Committee adds disputed delegates from Florida and Michigan). Clinton almost certainly needs to get the vast majority of undeclared superdelegates, and the Florida and Michigan delegates, to pull out the nomination.

The new superdelegates for Obama cited his inevitability as the nominee as much as praising his qualities.

Congressman Dennis Cardoza of California, who had supported Clinton, who won his state's primary, said in a statement, “While I continue to greatly respect and admire Senator Clinton and feel she has made history with her campaign, I believe that Senator Obama will inevitably be our party’s nominee for President. He has proven himself to be a thoughtful, knowledgeable, and inspirational leader and will take America in a new direction, which we desperately need."

Obama's campaign also announced support from another California congressman, Jim Costa.

State Senator Peter Burling of Cornish and Deborah Nelson of Hanover, two former Edwards superdelegates from New Hampshire, plan to announce their switch at a news conference this morning, the Associated Press reported.

Burling told The Associated Press that he and Nelson believe either Obama or Clinton would make a superb president, but it came down to "who can win and who could make a better president" -- and that Obama is about to clinch the nomination.

"If it were Senator Clinton who in my mind had the edge at this moment, she would be getting exactly this kind of endorsement," Burling said.

Nelson told the AP she made up her mind as she watched the news coverage of Senator Edward M. Kennedy's diagnosis with brain cancer this week. "I thought, here's someone who represents everything that matters to me, and he supports Obama, so what am I waiting for?" she said in a separate phone interview.

  1. My deepest thanks to the four patriotic superdelegates who voted today for the future of our nation and my grandchildren.

I am a veteran from a military family, one of whom earned the Bronze star, the Silver Star and was recommended for the Medal of Honor. I have also witnessed first hand the callous and underwhelming care of our veterans in two veterans hospitals (one in Dallas; theother in Washington, DC). OF the three candidates,I most trust Sen.Obama's sincere desire to improve conditions for veterans.

As for military service, My brother was an extraordinarily heroic warriar; he would be a terrible president.

  1. Obama lost those States having a majoriy of the electoral college vote. All he has won is his home State of illinois, the African-American vote, some ultra-liberals, and delegates that he has bought. Unfortunately, the latter may give him the Democratic nomination. He will not be able to buy the American public, and will probably be defeated in November by John McCain. The Democrats might even lose control of one or both houses of Congress because of this. Most of the States Obama won are basically Republican, so that the Democratic delegates in those States couldn't deliver in November in any event. The majority of those States that a Democrat needs to win, and where a Democrat has a realistic chance of winning almost all went against Obama. Money may buy him the nomination, but not the general election. Many people are highly suspicious as to the real source of Obamas funds, and the possibility that it may have its roots from illegal overseas sources.

  1. The remaining uncommitted super delegates need to finalize their decision to stop Hilary making more arguments that are divisive in nature. She started with race issue and now the gender issue. I'm certain that she has one thing in mind and that being pushing more voters to McCain camp so she could run again in 2012.

  1. I am gratified to see folks move toward Obama. If we loose, lets loose in a valiant effort to set a new direction... or as Senator Kennedy said in describing Obama... he is appealing to the more 'Nobler Aspects" of humankind.

This is such an opportunity for folks to rise above the typical "High School" popularity contest and for once cast a vote based on conviction to a cause as opposed to just winning another contest for the sake of winning.

  1. My opinion is; that if Hillary only brought herself to the table without Bill, she might have a greater group of people who would respect her for her own achievements, which are no greater in scope, alone, than Obama's. Saying you are "former white house" always makes you appear greater than you really are. As a New York Senator, she has done OK. As an Illinois Senator, Obama has done OK. So except for Bill's influence what does Hillary bring to the table that would/could out shine her opponent? I simply do not see it.
Strip away Bill from the equation and what is left....certainly not a dynamic domestic and foreign leader, which is what we need. Read the papers from all over the world and you will clearly see what type of trouble we are have stewing. Taxes and HealthCare are the least of our problems. These things are quickly fixable within the first year of anyone's presidency. The other, more important matters, are going to take a great , non-emotional and intelligent leadership approach.

  1. I am glad that more Dem super-delegates understand now that they are the ones who are putting the presidential nomination in an unecessary deadlock. If at this point a super del is unable to make a decision, it is either because he / she doesn't understand the issues at stakes, doesn't know the candidates or doesn't know what election this is . They are just political opportunists who are waiting for the balance to tip on one side or the other. The democratic party needs to review the electability of these super-delegates next time they are eligible for elections. They are just waisting the candidates' resources that they will need in general election. Someone got to stop this madness.

It is so apparent to most of us that over this past year the dying print media, mainly newspapers along with main-stream visual media who despartely need ratings, have and still are attempting to, manipulate and influnce the outcome of this election. Have any of you stopped to think, "What if Barack Obama wins the Democratic nomination, and for the sake of argument wins the presidency and fails at the job?" It will divastate and divide this country. This will be just the tip of the iceberg for racial unrest. The Black population will be set back years prior to any Civil- Rights Movement, or gains that have been made to date. Be careful for what you wish!

  1. Clinton fighting to seat the delegates from Florida and Michigan is a total disgrace and a deep character flaw on herself. Had she learned to play by rules, she would not have landed in this type of mess. Clinton is shooting herself in the foot because after all this open fight about those ill-fated delegates, she or her husband simply cannot expect Obama to behave like a saint and give her the VP slot.

  1. All I can say is I have never seen such disloyalty in a party before. What the Superdelegates care about are their own careers. What happen to Superdelegates voting for what their states have decided: New Hampshire - Clinton; W. Virgina - Clinton, Massachusetts - Clinton. These are a few states which Hillary have won the Primary and the Superdelegates of these States should voice what the people have decided.

DISGUSTING!!!! I am so ashamed to be a Democrat! It is time to switch party.

  1. Although I am an Obama supporter, I was not part of the "Hillary go away" chorus until this week, when she started with her insanely selfish and deeply offensive remarks in Florida, where she compared the Florida and Michigan delegate fiascos to the fraudulent election in Zimbabwe. It is one thing to say she is more electable, to say she'd be the better president, even to say Obama would not make a good president. But to suggest in a swing state like Florida that Obama's nomination is illegitimate, is an affront to the Democratic Party. She has either lost her mind or is maliciously attempting to sabotage an Obama victory, if and when he becomes the party nominee.

First I liked Hillary. Then I tolerated her. Then I got tired of her. Now I find her character utterly despicable. She should leave the Democratic Party as she has essentially declared war on it. For shame.

  1. I keep hearinf this argument that claims that Hillary would win more electoral votes because she won "the big states". The problem with her argument is that those states are solidly Democratic and it is virtually certain that Obama will win them also. You can't directly compare a primary to a general election because in a primary you are only running against people in the same party.. Obama is starting out with a disatvantage becuase this primary has been particularyly divisive. I can't remember a primary in which so many Democrats said that they would not vote for one of the other candidates from their own party. I don't think the reason that Hillary voters claim to be unwilling to vote for Obama, and vice versa. is that the candidates are so differenent, but rather because the primary made it appear that they are so different.

Hillary would probably have made a fine President. Maybe she is a bit of an insider, maybe she isn't quite as anxious to overhaul Washington, but her policies are sound and she would probably listen to the American people. Obama will also make a great president. He is inspirational, pragmatic, stable and not easily flustered. In the end though the decision has been made long ago. It has been mathamatically highly improbably that Hillary could win, for many months now. Hillary did the Democratic party a great disservice by fighting on. It may have been ok if she simply stayed in the primaries but didn't continually question Obama's loyalty, credentials, experience and the electabllity of a man of mixed race. The white trash of this country are very easily manipulated, and Hillary has now convinced them that they don't want to elect a black man. She could have just as well convinced them that the time for racism has passed.

By the way I am somewhat ammused at how Hillary was able to convince the lower class whites that she is one of them. The Clintons may have started from somewhat humble beginnings, but that was over 4 decades ago. Since then they have become almost billionairs. Bill and Hillary went to the finest schools as did their daughter. The Clintons are about as close to the working class as Bill Gates is close to middle class.

I agree with your post in the aspect that it is now time to confront this. The question that America needs to face, the question that's been lingering for a long time, is whether America is capable of having the best "person" lead the nation. Is it time to put away racial and sexual divisions and send to the curb of history those who still embrace them? His candidacy will provide, finally, for Americans to answer that questions for themselves. And the world, is watching!

Obama has campaigned on the mantra of "change." Bill and Hillary Clinton are the soso.

She has one base left --- older white women.

If these women would not vote for Obama, and instead would vote Republican, which would bring with it more neocon Supreme Court justices -- they were not Democrats to begin with. They are feminists. They need to look at the big picture, and think of our country, and what would happen with four more years of Bush policies. Not just to women, but to us all.

Who do you think has been saying in all those exit polls that they'd switch to McCain. Then again, who are you? Ah-ha! Another republical right-wing-nut shows its stripes!

By the way, ben-kd... You're wrong about Hillary needing to drop out. #22 Its comments like this that are the problem. It is a prime example of typical racism. If a black president fails for some reason then all black people will be damaged forever, but George Bush's failures only speak for him, not white people at large. You see, your a racist, but maybe you just don't know it. People are indivuduals and thus should be treated as such. One black failure or success is not a testament to all black people. These are the types of attitudes that Obama is working to transcend. Please take some time for self reflection and spend some time educating yourself before you post again. Moreover, if you chose to judge a group of people as the sum of the whole, read some history books. For example the biggest drug epidemic in China was caused by Europeans, or how about how some the greatest tragedies in world history i.e. the slave trade and the holocaust where caused by Europeans. Should I then believe that all white people of European decent are war mongering murders? Again, do some reading, perhaps get a college degree, (a real one not the one you will pretend you have on the internet) before you post statement which are obviously racist.

  1. I agree with the sensible people on this forum who point out that the Republican’s only interest in thus discussion is to turn Democrats against each other.

I suggest you do as I do: assume that every white woman on any forum who rants that we are stealing her legacy is actually an old, scared male republican masquerading on the internet. The same is true for every black man yelling how its their turn.

When you see a polarizing white woman or black man on a forum, you should imagine Rush Limbaugh at a keyboard giggling. And then you should ignore them.

Truth be told, this is an embarrassment of riches. Come November I will either proudly vote for the first woman president or the first black president. How great is that?!

DO NOT LET THE REPUBLICANS DISTRACT YOU!

We are privileged to belong to the big tent party. We are going to change thus country. The future will be better than the past, and we will be part of the reason why it’s better.

Why should anyone ask that question about Obama? You don't believe it needs to be asked about Clinton or McCain. If Clinton ran the country like she ran her campaign, we'd be even deeper in sh*t than with Bush.

As for your theory of devastating and dividing the country, If Obama does not get the nod that would do it. And as for racial unrest, such blatant unfairness would put this country back before civil rights, I believe, with all the world to see.

I really get tired of the post that always suggest a double-standard. McCain and Clinton are probably more likely to fail than Obama, but you don't question that. Neither of them wear flag pins, but only Obama gets asked that silly question.

  1. To the anonymous posting 10, Wake Up!!! Obama, Clinton, McCain and everyone else that has run for an office in the last 50 years has more than likely been funded by some form of dirty money. In a country that can not see past the dollar, lets face it, it no longer matters where it comes from. People just want results from it. I find it hard to believe that any of the candidates knows exactly where all of their money is coming from. Nor do they probably really care, just as long as it is seen as “Legal.” It takes money to be heard and that is the bottom line in these elections. If Obama wins, it has nothing to do with him buying anyone. It has everything to do with the fact that he was heard. I don't think we even need to get started on who has run a dirtier campaign between Hillary and Barack. Dirty is all Bill and Hillary Clinton appear to be. I feel sorry for their children. What a household they must have grown up in. Hillary has shown me her true position. She does not care one bit about the country, her party, or any issues. It is all about power for her. How much power can she buy herself. I did think she was a strong candidate in the beginning. I have been put off by her actions in the race.
On a side note, I think it is ridiculous that all the campaigns for everyone will be costing even close to a billion dollars. Why do we have a National Debt again? It would appear we have plenty of money to throw around. If we are going to be wasting a bunch of money, lets at least start putting it toward the Presidential run. It would appear we have the candidates for each party. Lets begin to hear the real issues that face our country and what these candidates purpose to do about them.

Obama has the heart to unite Americans and the world, Clinton is a pure racist person and will put America and the world in more troubles, McCain is another Bush: He will add fuel to the burning fire. Watch out and vote resiponsibly.

Obama has 3 superdelegate endorsements and 2 pledged delegate endorsements.

  1. Andre, you make a good point....not really. It is safe to say that Bush has failed America as a president, but for some reason, I don't see white men losing their status or privileges in this country. It is funny to me that when a black person is successful, he is an anomaly, but when he makes mistakes, he represents the race. If you cannot find it in yourself to vote for a black person for president, then don't; I’m sure your children or grandchildren will because smart black people will continue to run for president until one is elected.

  1. As an American, and proud to be one, I am appaled by what the the present day Clinton's are doing, one to the Democratic party and to this Nation. We as a Nation are said to aspire to our greater good, if so, as a former President what is Bill Clinton doing. Yes Hillary is is wife, that not withstanding, YOU were a President who swore to uphold the principals of this nation, not by deception and any means to WIN because you and your wife have some need to be back in the White House, that's why they have tours. I ask our Nation as we move towards the General Election...who are we and who do we aspire to be.

  1. There is no such thing as earned VP spot, the nomine get at least the change to pick their VP.
we could name HRC the president visitor of the white house, a new post that will give her the opportunity to visit the white house everyday like it is one of her goal, and to travel to a lot of country.

that ill ultimately keep her away from us, from ruining Change. away from Vp, away from supreme court. to be there you have to be telling the truth basic requirement I believe.

  1. Different Standards for Black and White Preachers

Rudy Giuliani's priest has been accused in grand jury proceedings of molesting several children and covering up the molestation of others. Giuliani would not disavow him on the campaign trail and still works with him.

Mitt Romney was part of a church that did not view black Americans as equals and actively discriminated against them. He stayed with that church all the way into his early thirties, until they were finally forced to change their policies to come into compliance with civil rights legislation. Romney never disavowed his church back then or now. He said he was proud of the faith of his fathers.

Jerry Falwell said America had 9/11 coming because we tolerated gays, feminists and liberals. It was our fault. Our chickens had come home to roost, if you will. John McCain proudly received his support and even spoke at his university's commencement.

Reverend John Hagee has called the Catholic Church the 'Great Whore.' He has said that the Anti-Christ will rise out of the European Union (of course, the Anti-Christ will also be Jewish). He has said all Muslims are trained to kill and will be part of the devil's army when Armageddon comes (which he hopes is soon). John McCain continues to say he is proud of Reverend Hagee's endorsement.

Reverend Rod Parsley believes America was founded to destroy Islam. Since this is such an outlandish claim, I have to add for the record, that he is not kidding. Reverend Parsley says Islam is an 'anti-Christ religion' brought down from a 'demon spirit.' Of course, we are in a war against all Muslims, including presumably Muslim-Americans. Buts since Parsley believes this is a Christian nation and that it should be run as a theocracy, he is not very concerned what Muslim-Americans think.

John McCain says Reverend Rod Parsley is his 'spiritual guide.'

What separates all of these outrageous preachers from Barack Obama's?

You guessed it. They're white and Reverend Jeremiah Wright is not. If it's not racism that's causing the disparity in media treatment of these preachers, then what is it?

I'm willing to listen to other possible explanations. And I am inclined to believe that the people these preachers go after are more important than the race of the preacher. It's one thing to go after gays, liberals and Muslims - that seems to be perfectly acceptable in America - it's another to accuse white folks of not living up to their ideals.

I think there is another factor at play as well. The media is deathly afraid of calling out preachers of any stripe for insane propaganda from the pulpits for fear that they will be labeled as anti-Christian. But criticism of Rev. Wright falls into their comfort zone. It's easy to blame him for being anti-American because he criticizes American foreign and domestic policy.

If Rev. Wright had preached about discriminating against gay Americans or Muslims, there probably would not have been any outcry at all. That falls into the category of 'respect their hateful opinions because they cloak themselves in the church.'

But one thing is indisputable - the enormous disparity in how the media has covered these white preachers as opposed to Rev. Wright. Have you ever even heard of Rod Parsley? As you can see from what I listed above, all of these white preachers have said and done the most outlandish and offensive things you can imagine - and hardly a peep.

If the disparity in coverage isn't racist, then what is it?

  1. ...I'm so excited about this upcoming election...I first heard Obama speak at the last Dem convention....He was terrrriiiffiiic!.. Racist's are a dying breed.a couple more generations and it should be done.....I've listened to their crap rhetoric since I was a child and knew it was wrong even then..I remember a childhood friend was crying because someone called her a horrible slur....There is no excuse for bigots..they are petty, small people.. and should be squashes like bugs...
The joke's on them .They miss out on meeting some potential great friends. .....I raised my children to celebrate all people..

  1. I am so ashamed to be a Democrat. Integrity? Honesty? Truthfulness? A Unifying Non-Racist? From Obama???? I DON'T THINK SO!!!

Obama is a politico wheeler dealer who will say and do ANYTHING to get elected. He sat in that RACIST church for 20 YEARS and cheered on his family's SPIRITUAL MENTOR.

Shame on you America and drink some more ObamaKoolAid. You've been fooled! To paraphrase Michelle Obama, I am not proud of my country.

    Time to switch parties.....Go McCain!!!

  1. I have always believed and still believe that Hillary Clinton is by far the stronger candidate and that Obama would be more likely to lose in the Fall. And I've waited all my life for a woman to be President. I am bitterly disappointed that she will not be the nominee.

That said, she isn't going to be the nominee. She's the better candidate, but she lost. I have to try hard to remind myself that happens rather often in a democracy.

I can't get over my disappointment but I'm not going to let it get the better of me. McCain wants to appoint more judges like Scalia and Thomas. I'm not going to be responsible for denying a generation of women the right to an abortion just because Hillary isn't going to be President.

It's time to deal with the disappointment and move on. After we get Obama elected we can get back to work doing everything we can to grow and support the farm team to make sure there are women candidates for the House, Senate, and yes the Presidency. But for now, we need to get Obama elected.

  1. Although well intentioned, Andre, (#22) exposes the reality of race in this country. In 21st century America, why is anyone who does not state he/she represents any group become a 'symbol' of a broader group?

Those of us who have come from rather narrow blood lines, should leave that reality in the centuries past and realize that the way to overcome racism is to overcome pigeon-holing anyone else by some perceivedd group they might represent.

According to Andre, "...if Barack Obama wins the Democratic nomination, and for the sake of argument wins the presidency and fails at the job...It will divastate and divide this country," leading to racial unrest.

Using his tortured logic, white middle aged men should be taking to the streets becuase of the mess created by Bush-Cheney-Rumsfeld, who have been a colossal failure at their jobs by virtually any objective measure.

Since I fit that 'group,' I'm not taking to the streets, but looking for political leaders on all levels of government who will:

    1) tell me the truth,
    2) consider the citizens above personal gain and croneyism,
    3) lead by logical thought and not perceived insight from God
    4) reach out to enemies 'foreign and domestic' to keep better understand their issues and possible actions
    5) try to get as many people as possible to be active participants in bettering America beyond waving flags and wearing pins.

Is that too much to ask?

Sadly, I'm old enough to know the probable answer

  1. I am looking forward to President Obama leading and guiding our country!! Thank you voters, delegates, superdelegates, newspapers, Uniions, and other organizations for voting for and endorsing this unique and gifted gentleman!! He will be an outstanding Presiddent and Commander-in-Chief.

Hilliary totally lost the Commander-in-Chief Title when she concocted the fraudulant clam about landing under sniperfire, putting their heads down, and running to their vehicles. his is a gross insult to our 4000+ servicemen and woman who have sacrificed their lives to fight a war she helped propel. She has litarally spit in the faces of those wo have served and are seving in ALL wars, and on those who have been severely injured,, blinded, paralized, brain damaged , lost limbs, severe mental and emotional post traumatic stress, and other horrendous results from coming under sniperfire and other deadly attacks. Then, she had the nerve to go on the Jay Leno Show laughing and joking that she was late "because I ran into sniperfire"!! How disgusting, inconsiderate, and downright crass can that woman be???

  1. Everyone seems to be ignoring a very key fact. When polled, folks representing 75% of the other countries we share the world with want Obama to be the next President of the United States. It is there hope that we will elect him to the presidency and the United States can begin to repair and polish it's reputation in the Global Community. The Bush Administration has done much harm to our reputation in the world's eyes. Wouldn't it be better to have the world's support for our next president? That in itself is a very strong indicator of who the Dems should send up as their nominee. Hillary Clinton's strategy is selfish, power-driven and self-serving. I'm a older woman. HC certainly does not speak for me. You can't just change the rules. Especially when you knew what they were when you started.
It's like saying you made it through the intersection at the yellow light. I had to stop for the red one. Let's do away with traffic lights all together.

Think about it for a minute. She is not about anything but winning at any cost.
Much too desperate. Much too devisive. Must too disruptive. The longer this thing goes, the truer her colors appear.

I'm voting for Obama. It will be nice to know that when I cast my vote, folks in other countries will be looking forward to his possible presidency as much as I am.

  1. "He sat in that RACIST church for 20 YEARS and cheered on his family's SPIRITUAL MENTOR." Steve

    Steve,

First of all, You have been watching the red neck Sean Hannity far too much. He is so John McSame and holds hateful and angry ideas about anything that is not totally right wing extremist politics. He certainly has never bothered to attend a black church.

Second of all, Trinity United Chustch of Christ is not a "racist" church. Many whites attend and are treated with dignity, love and respect.

Thirdly: Senator Obama did not "sit in the church for 20 years." That is a Hannity slogan repeated nightly on Fox Noise. The Senator attended an hour or so several times a month and heard sermons prasing Jesus Christ, and about the need to help our neighbors and to be responsible to our family and children.

Fourthly: racism is a mainly "white" thing that was practiced against blacks for several hundred years and continues even today. Blacks were not allowed to ride in the front of buses, stay in hotels or resorts, buy houses in white neighborhoods, or attend major universities. They were denied the use of public restrooms, drinking fountains, lunch counters and forced to enter private businesses theough separate doors- mainly in the back.

When I hear people like you yelling "racism" in a very self righteous and angry manner, I am convinced that they are racist and bigoted and just trying to turn their hatred towards other races into another disguised form of attack.

Why be so obsessed with so called "black racism" when it is obviously that blacks have suffered under real racism? When was the last time you were discriminated against because of your white skin?

I grew up in the south and used to go to the black part of my town to listen to great music and eat the best barbecue. I never felt threatened. But if a black person wandered into the "white" part of town at night, he would have been risking seruous harm. How many whites have been lynched by black people? I suspect that you were never a Democrat and are just looking for an excuse to vote four more yeard of Bush. Not this time.

Time for change that we can believe in.

    Barack Obama 2008

  1. Senator Hillary Clinton is not an honest person but instead an obsessed individual, who is doing every thing in her power to discredit her opponent. She always talks about her experience; my question is "In What".My child who had lived with me and my wife in 26 countries with 4 different cultires knows more about the world than she does. What does she knows about the world around her? Hillary is infected with a desease called "Power" and lost as a result her reason. She is also not a Patriotic Person who put her Country and her Party "no.1" no instead is a person with a price tack on her sleave. Observe Her campaign and that of Barack Obama. The difference is remarkable. Hillary is not only a liar but also a person who fooled the uneducated people of the Swing States. Vote for Obama

  1. Senator Obama, with Chuck Hagel as Vice President, that seems like such a good combo--he is honest, to the point, and I think you couldn't lose, picking such a Republican, that may seem more like a Democrat. Please consider asking him to be VP,,,I think he has lots of integrity...and better chance of winning the Independents and Republicans than with Hillary as VP!!!
If he wouldn't, seems like Richardson may be a good Vice President.

  1. I agree with you,Elke,I couldn't be more proud of Barack if he were my own son!! Hillary needs to get behind Barack & support him as he starts to take on McBush! Steve from PA , you have no idea who John McSame really is. He will say or do anything to get elected. I know because he is MY Senator & I DO NOT want him to become MY President. This country CAN NOT afford 4 more years of Bush's policies & that is exactly what John McSame is offering. Once and for all,Steve from PA you have totally mis-characterized what Michelle Obama said . She didn't say that she wasn't proud of her country. When she was saying that statement that has been so grossly taken out of context, she was talking about so many people that have gotten involved in the political process that's why she said she was SO PROUD of her country. That wasn't the first time she had been proud of her country either!!! I AM ASHAMED OF YOU,Steve from PA. Why don't you get off your butt & enlist in the Army & go serve in Iraq!!

It's time to take our country back!! IT'S TIME TO BARACK & ROLL!!

GOD BLESS YOU, PRESIDENT OBAMA !!

She is playing for big game Sir. She is out to get the Veep job so you can at some time exit the stage!!! Think about it.
Senator Obama, you must "turn the page" you must bring change to the greatness of your country and bring back sanity in Washington.

"all the garbage you wrote in your message about who is voting for Obama and "the real source of Obamas funds, and the possibility that it may have its roots from illegal overseas sources." I is ridiculous. And you are a prime example of one of the racist cowards that America has to deal with. To show just how cowardly you are, you posted anonymous. If you're courageous enough to write your thoughts, you should be courageous enough to identify yourself. After all, America is a country that endorses freedom of speech. So why are you afraid to identify yourself. It's people like you who make America look hypocritical. It's people like you who Barack Obama spoke about in his message about the racism in this country. Tell me something Mr/Ms annonymous. Do you live in the Appalachia b/c that's where the majority of the people like you liv? Anyone who degrades people, but are too cowardly to idenitfy themselves, will back stab their on mother. So I have a revelation for you Mr/Ms Anonymous, Obama wouldn't want your vote anyway. He will DENOUNCE IT. COWARD!!!!!!!!!!
