Clinton backers push her for VP
What does Hillary want?
If you listen to some of her closest supporters, Clinton might really want a spot on Barack Obama's ticket as his running mate.
Bob Johnson, founder and CEO of Black Entertainment Television, launched an effort to persuade Obama to pick Clinton, telling CNN that she knows about his effort, but "didn't direct me to do it."
Asked whether she would accept a VP offer, Johnson replied, "Well, there's no question that Senator Clinton will do whatever she's asked to do for the party. And she would certainly, as she said, to some of the New York delegation, entertain the idea if it's offered.
"But where I'm coming from is I believe Barack Obama can beat John McCain with another vice president. But I think if you want a unified Democratic Party and this absolute certainty that these two dynamic leaders bring to the Democratic Party, we have the best chance of winning with Senator Obama at the top of the ticket, Senator Clinton as his vice president," Johnson continued.
"You can't find in a historic election two more dynamic, inspiring people who could lead this country and lead the Democratic Party for years to come. And I think it would be most important when you have this historic election of an African-American potentially on the verge of being the first president, and a female being the first vice president, I think the history almost compels these two people to get together. And I hope they do."
"As African Americans we agree that the stakes in this election are far too high to take any chances that this party will not be unified from the top to the bottom in our effort to gain control of The White House," he wrote to the Congressional Black Caucus.
"You know as well as I the deep affection that millions of African Americans hold for both Senator Clinton and President Clinton. … But most important, we need to have the certainty of winning; and, I believe, without question, that Barack Obama as President and Hillary Clinton as Vice President bring that certainty to the ticket."
Clinton aide Lanny Davis is also starting a website and petition drive urging Obama to choose Clinton. She reportedly told fellow New York lawmakers on Tuesday that she would be "open" to such an offer.
In her non-concession speech Tuesday night, Clinton asked her supporters to help her decide her next move, saying. "The question is, where do we go from here, and given how far we've come and where we need to go as a party, it's a question I don't take lightly."

If Clinton is on the Obama ticket, that will push a lot of people to vote for an alternative.
She's power hungry, and that is all. She feigns enthusiasm, and the only time we hear her in her own words is when she makes comments that could be considered racist or divisive.
She has good speech writers, but is a bad speaker.
Vince Foster thought she would make a good Veep too. And I would bet if President McKinley were alive he would agree!
I think Hillary should be the VP to bring the party together and she brings lots of experience
Plain and simple. I will not vote unless Hillary is on the ticket. I found that my vote in Mass didn't count anyway because of Sen Kennedy and Sen Kerry's votes for Obama. I am as disappointed as I was when G. Bush won.
No way...Barry would need a body guard at all times. Bubba back raoming the White House? What USA landmark would go down next? The World Trade Center was destroyed becaue Bubba (and his wife) did NOTHING when they had Osama EIGHT times.
She'd do anything to help the Democratic party except bow out gracefully...except refuse to run a campaign designed to make her Democratic opponent "unelectable"...except play by the rules she agreed to in Michigan and Florida...except admit that she made a mistake in voting for the war....except own up to the truth about proclivity for "misspeaking"--which is to say, she lied.
If Barack Obama selects HRC as his running mate I will be shocked and disappointed--not because Hillary would be on his ticket, per se--but because up until now, he has demonstrated exceptional judgment, managment skills and political acumen. Choosing HRC would be the first genuinely stupid move he has made.
She needs to go home and learn how to bake those cookies she never learned how to make.
I believe Senator Obama supporters will say NO WAY! We did not support Senator Obama so that he can add such a divisive, disrespectful, dishonest and same old kind of politics. I think it is unfair for anyone to think that Obama supporters would want such a ticket.
Look at the baggage and drama that comes with such a ticket: First, Hillary has not conceded; Bill Clinton would be a huge disadvantage to everything Senator Obama believes in; Hillary's corrupt and irresponsible staff, etc. etc. etc.
Senator Obama, as one of your staunch supporters, I beg you NOT to put Senator Clinton on your ticket. Do NOT trade us in for Hillary supporters.
BET is backing Condi Rice with McCain according to Moveon.org - who knew?
It's the only way I'd vote for Obama.
How is adding Clinton to the ticket promoting change? Hill and Bill bring too much baggage to Washington and too much lust for power. She'd be about the worst choice for VP he could make right now.
Dont Pick BILLARY!!!!!! YOU WILL NEED AN OFFICIAL FOOD TASTER..
OBAMA IS AN AMERICAN.... HE WAS BORN HERE..IN AMERICA.!!!
WHY ARE YOU REFERRING TO HIM AS AN AFRICAN AMERICAN. HE WAS NOT BORN IN AFRICA!!!!!
IF YOU MUST.THEN CALL HIM A BLACK AMERICAN BECAUSE HE IS. LEFTS LEAVE AFRICA OUT OF THIS. HE IS BORN AMERICAN.
HE IS A BLACK AMERICAN MAN RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT AND THERE IS ABSOLUTLY NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT. LETS KEEP OTHER NATIONS OUT OF OUR PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS.
Vice president Clinton would bring back to the white house all of the scandal, nonsense and baggage that we had to deal with during Bill's administration. In a time when we truly need to take the country in a new direction, reinstating a Clinton presence in the White House would be a step backward toward reviving a sketchy past.
Hillary appears desperate to peddle her influence and force some type of power-sharing compromise, installing herself as an important part of the upcoming administration. If she could see past her own ego she would realize her actions to leverage her influence is divisive and politically unattractive, and will only diminish the democratic party's chances in the fall. It is time to bet behind Obama!
I disagree with William. I believe that with Clinton as a Obama's running mate the chances of the democratic party winning the presidency will greatly increase. She will have the support of all the people who have been cheering her on.
After all this election has been focusing primarily on the democats and with Obama/Clinton it will continue to be.
Hillary Clinton is STUNNING!!!
You have just witnessed the greatest political campaign fight in American history. One for the textbooks, and the history books. Hillary Clinton fought her heart out against all odds to win for all of the American people . While at the same time doing her best to prepare Sen. Barack Obama to win in November if he was the nominee. STUNNING!!! WELL DONE HILLARY CLINTON. WELL DONE! Your AMAZING! :-)
Sen. Obama could not have had a better opponent than Hillary Clinton. Nor could he have had a better opponent to prepare him for the battle royal to come against John McCain and the Republicans ahead of the November elections. Hillary Clinton was like a big Mama cat determined to teach her kitten how to hunt, and hang with the big dogs for the fights ahead.
And how about Bill Clinton, Chelsea, and th whole Clinton team. They were magnificent. They really showed their metal. BRAVO! TEAM CLINTON... BRAVO!
And how about YOU! my fellow Americans. I'm so proud of you. And proud to be one of you. You showed what you are made of. And what makes America so great. You never gave up on your Champion Hillary Clinton. Time, and time again you eagerly waited your turn to vote for Hillary Clinton. To pick her up and pass her along down the line to the rest of your fellow Americans.
You never gave up on her. Just as Hillary Clinton never gave up on you. No matter how many times they counted her out. No matter how many times they brutally knocked her down. You knew she would get back up. And you were ready to support her when she did. AMERICA LOVES A FIGHTER. AMERICA UNDERSTANDS A FIGHTER. AMERICA IS A FIGHTER. I'M PROUD OF YOU AMERICA!
Hillary said she would accept the VP spot on the ticket if ask. And I am thrilled to hear that. I think it would be crazy not to take her up on that offer. You could not have a better VP than Hillary Clinton. Hillary Clinton is Sen. Obama's best chance of winning the Whitehouse in November. And it is essential that the democrats take back the Whitehouse.
The American people are in a very desperate condition now. George Bush has wrecked America, and much of the world.
YOU MADE US VERY PROUD HILLARY CLINTON! :-)
WE LOVE YOU...
jacksmith... Working Class :-)
p.s. I really liked Sen. Barack Obama's speech in Minnesota. I think he just maybe ready now for the Bush Republican attack machine, dirty tricks, and vote fraud machine. :-)
Hillary Clinton should ask to be Secertary of State. Its is the 2nd most powerful position in the White house and it keeps her in the spot light for when she wants to run again. The V.P. job is a thankless job and she will fade away from the public eye. The V.P. does nothing and has no power what so ever.
I think we need to focus on how to WIN. Hillary has a lot of supporters and including her on the ticket may be the best way to get Democrats back in the White house.
Obama / Clinton(s) ticket will turn off a lot of people, I am speaking for myself, my friends & relatives. We voted to prevent Clintons back to WH for 3rd term and break the dynasty Bush-Clinton(s)-Bush - Clinton(s).

nooooooooooooooo for Hilary it is ooooooooooooooooooover
William,
All politicians are power hungry. Yes, even the sainted Barack Obama. There are plenty of ways to do good in the world but you'd be hard pressed to find a job that pays, gives time off, and allows for constant contact with power, as being a politician. That is why they compete for the job.
Me thinks that any woman who ran for the highest public office would be denounced as "power hungry" in this country, particularly by American men. For all the Hilary-haters I hear out there, they also cannot come up with one woman they WOULD vote for. Considering the female gender is 50% of the population, I think that's pretty unbelievable and speaks volumes about what people think of powerful women in this country.
Having Hilary as VP would be the same as having three "Presidents" in the white house insuring nothing is accomplished. Obama will have to spend all his time looking over his shoulder instead of focusing on the work at hand. If Hilary is that great, she can always be accessed as an advisor without giving up control to her and her "contingency".
William, you've it backwards...
If Obama doesn't choose her for VP, there's 18 million of us who will either NOT vote or will write her in.
She's smart, tenacious, and dedicated to America and its citizens. If you haven't seen her speak live (yes, I have), then your judgments and remarks aren't based on fact but simple misperception.
Even if you personally cannot respect and/or love women (aka, people), especially this one, you still need to learn to rise above your mere ego response to her and her candidacy.
The viciousness and obnoxiousness of the young "Obamanuts" as shown on the popular democratic site Dem Underground caused many democrats who had participated for years to leave the site AND turned them against Obama.
While Obama may be a good orator of written speech, and speaks in great pie in the sky generalities, he comes up with no specifics. Hillary may be a detail wonk, but she has the ideas, speaks explicity on the issues in detail and HAS THE EXPERIENCE.
As someone said, if Obama were a white young man presenting his experience and resume, he woud never have even been contemplated as a contender for the nomination of the dem party. As usual if the dems can find a way to shoot themselves in the foot they never miss the opportunity to miss an opportunity.
Obama cannot win the general election. He is only the nominee because the rules committee undemocratically took votes from Hillary and uncommitted votes and renamed them votes for Obama. Obama is the nominee because the Democratic party has "Super Delegates"to insure the will of the democratic voters
can be ignored. African American voters and college students are not enough to have him elected.
With Hillary Clinton as veep and the big states she carried as well as the popular vote there is a chance they could together carry the country for the dems.
Bottom line, I would not vote for Barack Obama. Without Hillary Clinton on a dem ticket, I'll re-register as an independent, and either stay home or write in Hillary for President - and she wasn't even my first choice
A word to the young Obamanuts - your obnoxious behavior has made more enemies among the core democratic voters than any republican attacks could have.
We can all express our opinion of Hillary, but we have to face the facts of reality, unless there is an Obama/Clinton ticket, we need to accept that there will be at least 4 years of McCain (read bush, cheney, ashcroft ect,)
Hey...whatever happened to her offer to Obama for the VP slot? Funny how quickly the table has turned!
Does she have any shame or an ounce of pride? Some people will do ANYTHING just to have power! What does that say about her and her so called "Advisors"?
I hope Obama simply ignores her...and picks someone else as his running mate. That'd be a riot!
4 June 2008
SORRY HILLARY. Your comments about assassination of Bobby Kennedy and your "wishful thinking" about Obama dying in office have excluded you as VP. Barack deserves better.
Obama needs someone(and their cronies) he trusts and do not gain if Barack is "assassinated" while running or in office, and 2. someone that is qualified to be Plresident.
What killed Camelot? In times of great hope? Times to great promise? What went wrong?
How could the death of one man so drastically change the direction of an entire nation? Change American history? World history? Just by the death of one man? The death of Camelot? Did JFK get his first 100 days? Will Obama get his first 100 days?
Brokered Democratic Convention? 2 strong-willed strongly backed political leaders. Conflicted politics? Conflicted backers? Powerful sheer forces?. Huge money interests? To be gained or lost? Conflict of cronies? Conflicted politics? Conflicted backers? Do political compromises have consequences?
2 leaders with different strong-willed backers? Different moneyed agendas? Different motivated cronies? Different money interests? Different powerful cronies with different goals?
What went wrong? What killed Camelot? Why? What set in motion the death of Camelot? Who had the most to gain in killing Camelot? What cronies had the most to gain? Huge dollars at stake. At risk?
How could the death of one person change the course of a nation? Change a world of hope and promise of greater peace and freedom, into a world clouded by war, destruction and death? At what cost?
Yes 2 strong leaders. Sheer forces inside the White House? Different allegiances? Different goals?
One an idealist, briefly filling a divided hurting world with hope. Of a better days ahead? More united? More free? Did JFK get more than his first 100 days?
The other a pragmatist. The consummate politician. An opportunist? Strongly supported by power interests? Money interests.? Military profits? Controlled by cronyism as real as a Texas longhorn? The military industrial complex? Huge money to be gained? To be lost?
Yes sheer forces? Inside our White House. Were they set in motion at a brokered Democratic Convention? Deal making behind closed doors? What was gained? What was lost?
Could a brokered Democratic Convention, be the ultimate destruction of Camelot? Impossible?
Barack, just say no to Hillary!
Great win. We will take it all this fall. I sense a "mutiny" of sorts if you chose Hillary. Watch your back Barack, dangers can come from within as JFK history unfortunately reveals. Pick a VP your trust, will keep your confidences, wants you to fulfill your full 8 years, and is also qualified to be VP. The choice belongs to you only. No one else.
Please just say no in a "face-saving" way to Hillary. An Obama/Clinton ticket even if successful may place you in the same position JFK found himself back in the 1960s and with some of the same risks to your longevity and legacy.
In my humble opinion, someone of the stature internationally of a Joe Biden, or political savvy of Charlie Schummer, or Hispanic roots of Bill Richardson are people that come to my mind. Locking in the Hispanic vote will secure the Democratic Presidency and Democratic control of Congress for the next 30 years. Personally, I do not feel you would have anything to "fear" from within the White House of any of the 3 of these men, especially Joe Biden and Bill Richardson.
Robert Olson, M.D.
Obama = Change? With Clinton and Bubba as his running mate?
Yeah, right...
Obama = Change? With Clinton and Bubba as his running mate?
Yeah, right...
Hillary's arrogance continues to shine through! She will continue to evade any issuance of a concession speech by now focusing on being "offered" the position of Vice President. While the idea of Obama picking Clinton as his running mate makes sense, Hillary is by no means "entitled" to that position, nor is Barack "indebted" to her in any way.
This is the hour to put all "foolish politicking" aside in an attempt to save face. Hillary, allow the party to be united.
The people have spoken and they shouted for Barack!
Obama says this is about "change"?
With Bubba and Hillary on the ticket?
Yeah, right...that's real change.
Hillary = Humility is an oxymoron.
LMAO.
Hillary as VP would extend negative, divisive politics into the White house which would be an extremely destructive situation for our nation.
Her lack of grace in accepting and endorsing Obama's nomination demonstrated this.
Now more than ever, we need a united nation at this time of economic and international crisis.
Let Hillary Clinton head the quest for universal healthcare...she has experience with what to do and not to do there.
for johnson to say hillary has to be on the ticket is how stupid this people can go.
you can not force obama to electe her.basicaly you are saying that without her ther
is no body.this is underminning the democratic party.there are tons of capable canditate in the party for obama to choose so,get of his back.johnson you can be a
billioner but you are a bone head.stay away from politics, go take a vacation.
Hillary continues to show she is not a team player, so why would one invite her to be a part of their team. It would show weakness on Obama's part to ask Hillary to be on the Dem ticket.
For her, it appears it has been all about Hillary. If her main concern was what's best for the Dem party, she would have endorsed Obama weeks ago. She has done more to undermine the chances of electing a Dem to the White House then any Rep.
But let me say, it is time for both Dems and Reps to start thinking in terms of what is best for American first, instead of what is perceived to be in their party's best interests. That would be a "change" we all could embrace.
Elected officials, please start representing the interests of the American people. Ours is a Representive Democracy, right?
I was surprised she didn't gracefully except defeat and help close ranks. Terrible speech last night and vague. She simply can't handle defeat. Neither can Bill. As Andy Hiller said last night, run away Barak if Hilary wants to approach you as VP.
Barak stands for everything that is change and fresh and not the old, tired ways of Hilary. This would be a disaster. Bill would interfere if Hilary were VP and undercut the Presidency. Hiller was spot on with his commentary. The gig is up Hilary! Game, set, match!
cd
Who was it that said that the "American voters get exactly what they deserve"?
It has happened again: Bush for eight years and now BO. We are right on schedule for another period of no leadership or experience. Same thing exactly. All sizzle, no steak!!
It would appear that the majority of obama supporters do not want hillary on the ticket, fine let obama go it on his own....after 4 more years of republican rule the country will finally wake up and realize there is only one answer.
HILLARY IN 2012
To "Jules"
Is there any difference in Bush/Cheney's scare tactics and their claims of "if you don't support us, then you're with the terrorists" and Clinton's "if you don't support me, then you're a sexist"?
Electing a President is not about favoring women vs men or black vs white. It's all about who has the right vision to bring this country back to its glory days. Quite frankly, you're insulting yourself by saying that she should be on the ticket because she's "smart...". Have you been listening to her lately? She is surrounded by idiots like Ickes and McAuliffe. She says foolish things like reference to Robert Kennedy assasination. She has flip-flopped on her stand on war. Did you listen to the two speeches last night? Obama congratulated her for her campaign while she made no reference to him at all. What a sore loser! Is that the kind of a person you want in a prominent role?
The 18 million of you who wouldn't vote for Obama are nothing but sexist because you refuse to vote for a very intelligent human being and a scholar simply because he's a man. You lack the capability to analyze the options you have and are blinded by emotions without reasoning. And you deserve another 4 years of Bush regime! Don't complain that gas is $4 a gallon or unemployment is rising or prices are skyrocketing or that we continue to spend hundreds or billions of dollars on Iraq with nothing to show for it!
Would you change your opinion if Obama was white? I'd say you would.
Obama should stay strong and not give in to Hillary's blackmail attempt to highjack the VP slot by mobilizing her female supporters to turn against him, then offering to bring them on board if he anoints her as his VP.
She has single-handedly put feminism back 100 years.
I'll bet you all a beer that if Obama doesn't pick Hillary then he will lose. You can meet me in the Officers Bar in Bahgdad for the beer, we'll all be over there fighting McCain's war.
Well, looks like a win by the Republicans again in November, so get used to saying "President McCain". At least that what I'm reading. Because if you've read these blog comments (and other blogs and comments on other sites), the Democrats have done what no one believed that they could do - they've divided their party so well that they've almost ensured that the Republicans will win. And, that's after having one of the most derided, detested administrations in modern history in office for 8 painful years, driving the country (and our loved ones) into wars (2 - Afghanistan and Iraq - and counting...), our economy into recession (it IS in recession, whether GW and his sycophants want to call it one or not), and not paying attention when it mattered most (see Katrina, Hurricane, Bin Laden, Osama, and more for reference evidence). Just reading these - your! - comments makes me sick, because one would think that after 8 horrid years, a job approval rating that is the lowest EVER for a sitting president (even lower than Nixon's!), making pledges to find Bin Laden (he didn't/couldn't), and the Hurricane Katrina debacle/tragedy, that it would take a miracle for the Democratic party to not win in November! But, I fear it/we won't. It was the Dems (our) election to win, and the only way that they (we) couldn't win was to beat themselves (ourselves); read these comments, and that's just what they've/we've done: Yanked defeat out of the hands of victory...UNLESS something amazing happens, or someone amazing comes along to lead them - US! - out of this...Why don't we stop calling each other names, and start working together, huh, folks? Or, is that too much to ask for the Democratic Party? (I fear it may be.) The fight shouldn't be between Obama and his supporters and Clinton and her supporters. It should be against the Republican machine, the FUD and $$ that they throw around, and the actions (and inactions) of Bush's Republican administration and party. We should be talking about the state of the economy (and why gas prices continue to rise with ex-oil men in the White House - wink, wink, nudge, nudge), the wars in iraq and Afghanistan, the nation's healthcare crisis, education, etc. - REAL issues that the Republicans don't have real-life answers for! We should not be arguing between ourselves - we need to be united! But, I fear, we aren't, and won't be. The '08 political process has become Washington Idol - where if my candidate is voted off the show or island, I'm not going to vote - I'll go home, sulk, pout, be petulant and let the other side win. Yeah, that makes a WHOLE lot of sense, doesn't it! Let's stop the name calling and bullying, and focus on what's really at stake here: Our future, and our nation's future. (And, just for the record, I think a Obama/Clinton ticket kicks a**! But, it's up to Obama as the candidate to pick who he thinks is best -not us. Oh, and one final thought - How would a Obama/Hillary Clinton ticket do against a McCain/Colin Powell ticket? Now, discuss...)
So let me ask if Hillary won the Democratic nomination and lost the general election won she want to be McCain's VP? She shares his opinion to go to and stay in IRAQ?
Please, if you don't win you lose so Hillary, bow out gracefully and back your party's nominee for cry out loud! Bill Richardson and a number of other great statesmen could make a strong Democratic ticket with Obama! This type of Clinton magical reality is exactly what incensed Republican's against Bill!
We have all fought hard campaigns that have come up short on occasion and been bitterly disappointed. Part of being a political pro is learning to deal with this. What Hillary Clinton should have said last night is, "I want you all to know that just a short time ago I called Senator Barak Obama to congratulate him on his victory..........."and "I urge you all to join me in supporting Senator Obama and a Democratic victory in November......." Everything else is gravy. It really shows a lack of class for her not have said something close to these lines. I think it disqualifies her from being Obama's running mate.
Hillary is the essence of Arrogance and self-entitlement. She lacks judgement and tact. She does not know when to fold. She is POWER HUNGRY. She, in her own dumb words "MISPEAKS" Even the greatest warrior should know when to fold... In the time of war, can you imagine her as a leader with the above qualities, and not knowing when to pull out or concede. .. Heaven help us if she is let any where near that ticket!!! Do we want Bill for 8yrs, Hillary for 8yrs, and Chelsea for 8yrs?? A quarter century of CLINTONITIS.... Now that's SCARY!!!
Hillary is the wise choice for VP. We need her voice and we need to unify the party. I see this as a win/win scenario.
Hillary won the popular vote and has the most clout to defeat McCain therefore it is essential that she be the VP on the ticket if not the Presidential nominee
Plain and simple, if Hillary is the ticket on the ticket, the DNC loses my vote. Where did she get her experience? Other than eight years as a carpet bagger from New York, she has no experience as an elected official! Maybe Bill left stuff lying around for her to read while he was “not having sex” with Monica.
The traditional Democratic candidate like her and her and her husband are the reason that Obama’s candidacy was even possible. This party needs to chance, the sooner they realize it the better chance that a democrat will live in the Whitehouse.
People saying Obama can't win w/out Hillary are just flat out wrong. Look at a poll for Pete's sake. Get off your high horses about "I won't vote for Obama without Hillary on the ticket." Who cares? The polls say it won't matter - and that's BEFORE McCain has even been vetted and let his truckloads of skeletons out of the closet.
Forgetting for the moment McCain's combustible personality and his penchant for saying ridiculously inappropriate things at the worst moments, which he is likely to do during the GE, the guy is running on a platform of not just continuing, but EXPANDING the disasterous Iraq war. He has run and continues to run a campaign based on cleaning up Washington despite his being involved in one of the largest lobbyist scandals Washington has ever seen and despite having a camp absolutely littered with right wing special interest groups. You people are acting as if Obama has to beat Reagan at the height of his popularity. Nonsense. Obama has to beat a devastated GOP war machine that has spent the last 8 years running this country into the ground and a candidate who's best and only decent quality is that he's neither Dumbya or Darth Cheney.
All you Hillary-heads are more than welcome to either sit at home on election day or even vote for McCain out of spite. If you can stomach 4 more years of an even MORE unstable version of Dumbya, more power to you. But Barrack Obama won the nomination - Hillary lost. Her presence on the ticket may or may not help Obama's run for the White House - but a majority REJECTED her in favor of Barrack. It's time to give it a rest and start accepting reality.
Hopefully, Hillary will merely suspend her campaign for now. Otherwise, we Democrats are screwed because the other shoe is about to fall on Obama. Hide and watch his candidacy go up in smoke. [W]rightfully so too, I must add. Here's one girl who won't forget!!! Bye, bye, Democratic Party. No way and no how will I ever vote for Obama! I am a woman standing proud for Hillary only, now and forever and we don't want her on BO's ticket. He is dangerous!
The one thing that I think is pretty funny about all of this is the fact that people on the Hillary for VP side of things seem to think that the folks who voted in the primary-relatively split down the middle in quite a few contests-would somehow band together to form a unified ticket. You can't find two more polarizing personalities when it comes to a presidential ticket. People who voted for Hillary wanted her to be president and not vice president. People who voted for Obama wanted nothing to do with Hillary in the office at all. So explain to me how putting these two together is going to accomplish anything?
These two have been fighting it out for months now and all the sudden people think that by putting them together it's going to create a dream ticket? I know plenty of people on both sides of the democratic camp who wouldn't vote for either if the other was on the ticket as the VP. Pure stupidity.
It doesn't matter what happens with the democratic ticket. McCain will win the presidency because when you think about it, all it's going to be about at the end of the day is who do you think is going to be looking out for this country? Someone who has fought in war, been in the senate for more than 1 term and actually has identified problems with a plan? Or the nice black american guy who can speak well and get's all the young people excited (Please someone tell me if this doesn't smell of Deval "Caddilac" Patrick all over again)? The silent majority will vote in this election and it will be clear that America as a whole will want someone with experience - not the vocal minority that seeks to make themselves feel better because they are voting for a black man.
After listening to HRC's speech following Obama this morning, one MUST ask how many opposing nonconciliatory speeches must Hillary give before the Obama Camp realizes she is not, and cannot be, a partner in governing the country? Any rumors or slight consideration of Hillary as a VP candidate should be stopped in their tracks.
Did you hear Hillary's speech this morning? There is NO WAY Obama can govern with her as the VP giving opposing remarks. And if we're going to put her on the ticket just to win the presidency, I say we're compromising principle for short-term gain which will result in a failed marriage made in hell.
Yes, we MUST have a woman in the VP spot. If you don't think so, you're fooling yourself. The race will go much easier without a large percentage of women out there believing Hillary was robbed of the nomination because Hillary is a woman. No, Hillary is just an awful personality - divisive and vindictive. Look at her most recent remarks where she basically said if she can't have the VP spot then no other woman should. What in the world?
There are plenty of qualified women that would work well in the VP spot. And as Obama has repeatedly cited the urgency of now. Now is time. Now is the opportunity to not only make history but change. Now is the time, when decades ago the African-American Civil Rights Movement and Women Suffrage Movement took different courses, to bring the groups at the core of these movements back together on the same stage AND make history & change together.
Yes Honorable Senator Obama, Presumptive Democratic Nominee for the President of the United State of American, now is the time to select a woman as your partner in that VP spot. Just as long as it is NOT Hillary!
Sincerely,
A Voice Begging To Be Heard

O-Bummer.
You said it, J Kelligesq. Sometimes I think I shouldn't give Obama my vote on that basis alone---I heard A LOT more threat from Obama-supporters about not voting in November if Hillary was the candidate than the other way around.
The fact is, I do hear more Hillary supporters threatening to vote McCain. I never heard an Obama supporter state McCain gets his vote if Hillary had won. Had it been reversed, Obama supporters simply would have sat out. Hillary still would have won the Democratic vote.
"Change" as a mantra is NOT ENOUGH. We need the specifics, Barack! The devil's in the details, as they say. I don't just want promises---I want to know HOW you plan to turn this country around. I heard specifics from the Clinton camp--specific plans backed up with specific steps. And some of the things I've heard from your Obama's own mouth, make me question hisexperience--it didn't take a negative campaign ad from the other side to make me see right through it.
One example: Obama supports raising the tax rate on Capital Gains and Dividends from 15% to 28%.
The facts indicate that tax revenues go UP when the rate is decreased and the revenues go DOWN when the tax rate is increased.
Obama admitted that that was the case but that he would still raise the tax rate because it was a "fairness issue". Huh? What is he smoking!? Making EVERYONE worst off in the midst of a bad economy is a "fairness" issue?
For the VP pick I am looking for experience and someone who knows what they are talking about--not someone who has done a mere 2 years in national office and knows how to market to young voters. Had he more experience he would be part of the "establishment" he is fighting against. I guess that's one way to parlay lack of experience and proven accomplishment in national politics.
By the way, right or wrong, Obama isn't going to be President without the support of at least most of the following states:
California
Michigan (although you are untested here)
Florida
Pennsylvania
New York
Texas
If the election were today, polling has indicated that McCain would win most of these states. Obama won NONE of them in primaries. Them's the facts...and its no one's fault but the candidate's!
for all the HRC supporters who say they will vote for McCain...I just can not believe it any more than I could believe it if Hillary won, and Obama's supporters would say that. On the issues, both dems are on similar pages. Why would you bite your nose to spite your face? Also can you tell me what horrible things Obama has done? I know the media has been sexist, but Obama has not. On the other hand how bias have they been for McCain. I am fairly old, have no children, iyou will have to live with your choice if you vote for McCain...I will ake out okay...no sons/daughter to send to war. No children that end up there because of a poor ecomony..and it might take McCain a few years to totally mess up social security and medicare.. I hope you guys wake up
I have been a Hillary Clinton supporter from the beginning. I want to see this woman in the white house. She is a dynamic, never tiring, intilligent force.
She is experienced in the workings of the white house. She would be a great asset to Obama's charismatic style and inexperience in the white house if he becomes our President.
The people have already said what they want. They want the two of them in the white house, that is why the voting has been so close. These two candidates have taken more votes than any of the other candidates. McCain comes in third! Give the people what they want and YES we are so ready for change with someone in the white house that can hit the ground running. We need to get things going another direction YESTERDAY!
If she isn't going to be the President and there is every indication, at this point, that she will not prevail, I would be thrilled to see her as the Vice President. It would also insure that the Democratic Party would get to the white house.
Putting Hillary on the ticket to 'unify the party" will backfire. What about the independants? Her negatives are so high, we independants will go to McCain.

I am sick and tired of Hillary's arrogance, her supporters "Sulky Sue" mentality and HRC's unwillingness to graciously congratulate Barack for wining the Democratic preemptive nonimation at the end of the national primary season. You have no class and honor, Hillary. The consequences would be disastrous to allow Hillary a share of the ticket. Her sleezy, racially devisive, dishonest (e.g. I arrived in Bosnia under snipper fire.....) and Rove-like negative campaign tactics has set American women back 20 years in the quest for a woman to occupy the White House. She has no one to blame but herself , her original, wrong position on Iraq and her poor campaign management team.
There are many bright stars (e.g. Jim Webb) who could become Obama's VP mate, but Hillary, the eternal light definitely doesn't shine on you. Go back to New York as Senator. That is where you belong until a Democratic challenger ousts you from your "lust for power" in American politics.
Hillary should run as independent. I think she will win the presidential bid. Hillary does not owe the Democratic committee for Obama's brokered nomination.
It seems to me that the Republicans have already won, because 1/2 of you love the idea & the other 1/2 hate it.
understand one fact, democrates will loose unless you stop fighting.
A house devided will never stand. Abe knew this all to well when brother fought brother. Just read how you all have commented and how much you are divided.
So she's arrogant, she's a fighter. he wants change with little experience, but he has vission. And don't think any of you wouldn't fight as hard as they have for a cause. get with it; change will come with a united Democrated party. So take the good with the bad, and recognize that everything in life is a rollercoaster ride. It's the journey that makes it interesting. This was an interesting walk these two faught hard and these two are relentless, now let the party heal itself as one united party.
It would show a lot of class for barak to ask hilary to run with him and for myself I had a really hard time deciding between him and hrc. I guess I don't know enough to really say why its a bad choice to make as some of the above are saying but, I feel that what each would bring is what was keeping me from knowing who to place my ballot for. I mean the missing "pieces"...i.e. experience, being accessable, that sort of thing. The two could be a great ticket I think. Sometimes its about eating a little humble pie. I just wanted to say that. Forgive that I am not huge on knowing the political machinery that runs behind all of the hoopla we see with the media.
My comment is short, sweet and simple. The short part is," I'll be brief". The sweet part is "Hillary on the ticket for V.P".. and the simple " A winning ticket against John McCain". No doubt, this is the best course for the democratic party to ensure victory in the forthcoming election. If you want the women's vote and middle class votes and mostly MY vote this is the course to pursue.

AS a 68 yr old lifelong republican who registered as a Dem just to vote for Obama, I will be terribly disappointed in Obama if he asks Hilary to be his VP. He has promised us a fresh ,new level of integrity and direction in our national leadership and accepting Hilary as VP is anything but !
YES, YES, PLEASE-- if this election is about HOPE AND CHANGE, then
OBAMA for President and HILLARY for Vice President is definitely the way to go!!
Keep requesting "THE DREAM TEAM" !! No two other people will do! They have proven during all the debates that they really agree on everything and the media just wanted them to look as if there were differences, but they always came across like an excellent pair for THE JOB !! Let's all HOPE for this so positive outcome!!
What hell of change so far. All the same except "The Emperor's New Clothes"
Though I understand her supporters' desire to see her on the ticket, PUSHING for it may be a deal breaker. He can not be seen as caving in to presure, as Walter Mondale did. It will weaken him in the general election. If he can't stand up to Hillary, how can he stand up to Ama-whats-his-name? Even if he wants to select Hillary as his running mate, he can't do it if it appears to be forced.
The best thing her supporters can do is to back off and let him make his choice.
I WANT TO FIX HILLARY CLINTON FOR STAYING WITH BILL WHEN SHE SHOULD HAVE DIVORCED HIM OVER:
1. HIS ANTIMASTURBATION
2. HIS CHEATING ADULTERY
ALSO IM AGAINST HER NOT LISTENING TO ME ABOUT VOTING AGAINST THE ANTI POKER BILL (PHONE CALLS, LETTERS) AND RECEIVING FUNDING FROM HEALTH INSURANCE COMPANIES WHEN THEY ARE ALREADY OVERCHARGING AND AGE DISCRIMINATING. I ALSO BELIEVE LIKE JOE LIEBERMAN THAT BILL CLINTON SHOULD HAVE BEEN IMPEACHED AFTER ILLEGALLY CHEATING ON HIS WIFE.
