Gore adds blessing to Obama

Posted by Foon Rhee, deputy national political editor June 16, 2008 03:51 PM

Former Vice President Al Gore will formally endorse Barack Obama at a rally tonight in Detroit.
“Over the next four years, we are going to face many difficult challenges — including bringing our troops home from Iraq, fixing our economy, and solving the climate crisis. Barack Obama is clearly the candidate best able to solve these problems and bring change to America,” Gore told supporters in an email.

Gore, who narrowly lost the 2000 presidential election to George W. Bush, has been mentioned as a possible running mate for Obama so that he can champion the global warming -- the cause that he won the Nobel Peace Prize for last year.

  1. why don't we elect a chinese president and then he can endorse all the faulty, cheap (american) engineering in China, including the nuclear reactors; heck, we may be able to get rid of all engineering standards with the FAA, NRC and FBI completely! sure would make all our jobs easier!

  1. The country was a loser when Bush was appointed president over the voice of the people. Gore is one of the most trustworthy american leaders. He has absolute integrity and excellent judgement. A Obama/Gore ticket would be heaven sent.

  1. Of course Gore will endorse obama now...where was he during the primaries when democratic endorsements really matter. This is pointless, he probably would have endorsed obama anyways but didnt have the guts to go against his old clinton friends. He is irrelevant.

  1. Mama may be a rude idiot, but his central tenet that Gore's endorsement doesn't matter is correct.

  1. What took him so long? His endorsement might have ended the Clinton-Obama struggle months ago, saved millions of $$$, and set the Dems to focus on the Reps.
Hmm... Maybe he wants the Vice-Presidency again.

  1. mama = "his" : )

    good one President Nickerson!

Bush is a loser, but on a level that is so very damaging to the fate of mankind, and the 4000 American family's who have lost sisters brothers fathers and mothers "over there" are the biggest victims.

Gore should have fought HARDER especially in that stinkhole chad hanging sawmp we call a state.

  1. Actually, Gore's endoresment does matter, because he carries a lot of credibility. Saying he's a loser isn't very correct either, but I think Mama has her panties in a knot anyway and hers is a "drive-by" comment that doesn't add anything.

And to think that Gore "didn't want to go against his old Clinton friends" misses the fact that he didn't want Clinton anywhere near his campaign, thinking it would have been the kiss of death. In retrospect, we probably would have had a very different past 8 years had Clinton stumped for Gore.

  1. If Gore really gets onboard it's over for McCain. As for Gore being a "loser" Gore won in 2000. Bush cheated. as he did in 04. It's not going to happen again get over it..

  1. No endorsement will explain away Obama's old associations, so who cares who endorses him. One should care more about why these people are endorsing Obama now.

Posted by peter grays June 16, 08 05:51 PM
  1. Actually Gore was a winner. Bush was a cheater, and would not have won except for a 5-4 vote of Bush's political loyalists on the Supreme Court. And we have been paying for that travesty ever since. Now it's payback time.

  1. Gore should have been president. Instead we got the moron king who wrecked the nation. Al was right to stay out of the primaries. Mr. O. got all the help he needed from the media, and the closed-door caucuses of Starbucks Dems. Too bad it isn't Gore running. But any Dem is better than the last 8 years.

  1. "The more things change the more they remain the same." Enough with the negative expletives. Let's stick to the real issues: health care, Iraq, Gasoline exploitation, education, and similar topics. Where does the United States hope to be in the next 10 years? Someone, anyone, please address the issues and eliminate old-style lambasting of personalities. This is a new day and new think to solve old problems is needed.

  1. If there is an Al Gore/Obama ticket.....There is not much hope for the Repulicans. But no need to argue here and now...... Meet you at the polls!

  1. Al Gore is going to be the next President of the U.S.. Obama will make a good VP.
Things aren't always what they 'appear' to be. Y'all will see.

  1. Again, who cares, if you need someone's endorsement for you to really listen to a candidate, you are pretty lame. I think it will hurt all these Dems who jumped on the Obama bandwagon since he is just another Dukakis liberal headed for another defeat for the Dems. I laughed the other day when I saw my first bumper sticker aimed at the November election which simply stated "NObama"...I like that let's spread the news, this 15 second sound bite called Obama is a recipe for further disaster for our economy and our status in the world. Let's remember the last inexperienced person we put in office - Jimmy Carter - which brought us high interest rates, a deep recession and endless job losses.

  1. What a profile in courage. The race is over and, "Oh, yeah, by the way Barack: I'm with you all the way." Fraud.

  1. No more Gore, please! His pathetic distortion of the truth and inconvenient self-proganda did win him an Oscar (awarded by Hollywood's caviar socialists) and a Nobel prize (awarded by a few confused Norwegian geriatrics), leading this loser to believe he can now walk over water. No more Gore, please!

  1. No more Gore, please! Hollywood's caviar socialists gave him an Oscar and a few flaky Norwegian geriatrics gave him a Nobel Prize, all for an ill conceived, scientifically untruthful, dubiously propagandistic and very inconvenient absurdities as presented in the Gore movie, his ultimate cash-cow. No more Gore, please! The fool already thinks he can walk over water...

  1. Gore endorses Obama now because he didn't think Obama is a better candidate for Hillary. He is doing it now because he is a Democrat and everybody in the Democratic Party is expected to endorse Obama now, otherwise, he would be seen as unsupportive and not a team player. Gore is timid. He was unwilling to stick his neck out. He is irrelevant. He is a loser and mama is right!

Posted by MMK June 17, 08 10:17 AM
  1. Hallelujah! Somebody has seen the light!!! No more Gore, please! (He sucks !) Some flaky Norwegian geriatrics gave him the Nobel Prize, what do they know!? I am living in Holland, some 25 feet below sealevel, and there's no Mr Gore to scare my parents or my own family away, this man is a troublemaker, a profound unscietific liar, an asshole !!!!!
Mr Gore got himself an Oscar, given by equally indifferent and ignorant Hoolywood caviar socialists, ...go figure.....
