Obama, Bill Clinton talk

Barack Obama and Bill Clinton finally chat

Barack Obama called Bill Clinton after landing in Missouri this morning, and the two spoke for about 20 minutes, the AP reports.

Obama spokesman Bill Burton said they had a "terrific conversation," according to the AP; he added that Obama "has always believed that Bill Clinton is one of this nation's great leaders and most brilliant minds, and looks forward to seeing him on the campaign trail and receiving his counsel in the months to come."

The phone call appeared designed to quiet rumors that the former president remained angry and stunned that Obama prevailed over Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination.

Bill Clinton fueled such talk last week when he issued a one-sentence endorsement of Obama that sounded more than a bit grudging. It was also noted that he did not attend Obama and Hillary Clinton's first joint post-primary campaign events in Washington and New Hampshire last week.
