Obama buys more 'red state' air time

Posted by Scott Helman, Political Reporter June 30, 2008 02:40 PM

Barack Obama is up with his second TV spot of the general election, another biographical ad that highlights his career choices -- forgoing Wall Street and corporate law to do the people's work. The ad, "Dignity," tries to position Obama as a friend of the American worker.

"As president, he’ll end tax breaks for companies that export jobs, reward those that create jobs in America," the narrator says. "And never forget the dignity that comes from work."

More noteworthy than the content of the ad is where it's running. Just like Obama's first spot, his campaign has bought ad time in Alaska, Georgia, Indiana, Montana, and North Dakota, further evidence of the major play the Illinois senator aims to make for traditionally Republican states.
