Patrick, Michelle Obama to share stage

Posted by Foon Rhee, deputy national political editor June 19, 2008 02:19 PM

The political paths of Deval Patrick and Barack Obama merge again Friday.

The Massachusetts governor, one of Obama's most active and vocal surrogates, is scheduled to be honored at a Washington luncheon by the National Partnership for Women & Families.

The luncheon's special guest speaker announced today: Michelle Obama, wife of the presumptive Democratic nominee. She is to discuss the challenges facing America's working families -- to whom her husband is promising tax cuts -- but will also presumably say nice things about Patrick.

Patrick has been saying nice things about Obama for months now, in places as different as Iowa and South Carolina. And while they share personal histories, some of their shared rhetoric led to accusations from rival Hillary Clinton that Obama was plagiarizing Patrick.
