Barack, meet Paris

Posted by Foon Rhee, deputy national political editor July 30, 2008 07:30 PM

An aside on the hubbub over today's John McCain ad mocking Barack Obama's celebrity that includes an image of Paris Hilton: CNN reminds that Obama once compared himself to the heiress and B-movie starlet.

Just before taking office in the US Senate, Obama poked fun at himself at a Washington dinner with journalists in December 2004.

"Andy Warhol said we all get our 15 minutes of fame," he said. "I've already had an hour and a half. I mean, I'm so overexposed, I'm making Paris Hilton look like a recluse."

  1. Obvious proof that we do not need to elect someone who openly compares themselves to someone as disgusting and ditzy as her.

McCain isn't that much better either.

  1. McCain is such a traitor, like all Republicans. I can't believe he's allowed to run for president, Republicans hate America so they really should all be jailed for their support of the war criminals Bush and Cheney.

  1. I think Mr. Obama has a few more things in his favor than raw 'popularity.' He has a more intelligent grasp of a wider range of issues, and he has a very different style of leadership from anything the GOP has been able to offer. People don't just like him, they like what he represents. Oh, and by the way, they like him, too.

  1. Again they got it right . So far Obama's Total international experience is his one trip oversease pretending to be President .As for the commity for Afganistan that he never called or attended a meeting. You wonder why Afganistan is in trouble with all this international experience maybe he should call a meeting of the commity he chairs once in awhile. He is like the Wendy's advertisement that says where's the beef. All talk no beef/ experience. He is the presumptious canidate for president for sure. Look out for your pocketbook
