Gore: Two terms as V.P. plenty

Posted by Foon Rhee, deputy national political editor July 17, 2008 07:02 PM

Former Vice President Al Gore made clear in an interview aired this evening that he has no interest in another stint in the job.

"I've decided to impose a personal term limit of two terms as vice president," Gore said on ABC News.

Gore, who has been mentioned as a possible running mate for Democrat Barack Obama, said he will focus on swaying public opinion on climate change. He laid out an ambitious goal today for the United States to generate all its electricity from renewable sources such as solar and wind.

Gore spent eight years as Bill Clinton's vice president and nearly succeeded him to the White House in 2000. The veep buzz became louder after a rally where Gore formally endorsed Obama last month.

  1. Who do you trust with the issue of climate change, the oil man's party or the democratic party that Al Gore once led?

  1. He will be much more effective, on the outside, than as a #2 person in a Obama adminstration; besides He can play statesman to whoever is the next President.
