'Leave Barack alone'

Posted by Foon Rhee, deputy national political editor July 31, 2008 09:32 AM

Barack Obama responded Wednesday to John McCain's ad mocking him as "the biggest celebrity in the world" and comparing him to Britney Spears with a straightforward one accusing his Republican rival of resorting to the "same old politics."

The folks over at Slate, the online political magazine, worked their magic again and came up with a much funnier response they released today.

They dubbed the infamous video of a fan tearfully telling the media to "leave Britney alone" with pleas to go easy on Obama because he's only trying to help America.

Enough said.

  1. What in the world is the matter with you guys? This thing you've called "Leave Barack alone" is NOT funny, it's NOT satire. It's juvenile, overdone, a waste of a great opportunity. This is not how it's done.

Try responding to McCain's attacks with honest facts. THAT ought to work.

Oh, and grow up, for God's sake.

  1. Enough is not said. Barack Hussein Obama is not trying to help America; he's trying to help himself. He is the most arrogant, egotistical, self centered person on the face of this earth. He is lies all the time and blames others for his missteps. He does not know personal responsibility.....how to admit he made a mistake which shows his true character. We really don't know this man so how can he be trusted with that phone ringing at 3 a.m. or with that power if the White House.

  1. "He's only trying to help America".... Wow!
    The truth is:
He's only trying to become President!

  1. Take this Mc Cain. I love this, and it shows where republicans are taking the campaign, undermining the voters intellect.

  1. Obama went on a week long vacation and concert tour (his concert). And all he managed to do was p*** a lot of us black Americans off. The straw that broke the camels back. I am a black person (both halves of me are black). I was proud of Mr. Obama until this incident. When he got up there and apologized on MY behalf because I am not a better American, this is more than I can take. The Germans felt the same way about blacks as they did about Jews. And Obama apologized to them ???? Why in the HELL don't the Germans APOLOGIZE to us, after all didn't we save them ?? He is NOT a god. Talk about being prejudice, if practicing a double standard is not prejudice what is ?
Cannot talk about Michell - off the table, no matter what she says or does
Cannot mention his middle name - off the table
Cannot mention that he is black - off the table, but he can
I tell you what my friends, Mr. Obama is OFF my table !!

  1. Actually, Barack is more like Hannah Montana / Miley Cyrus.
No one knows who he really is, or what he is 'for' (except "change", of course).

  1. McCain wishes he could talk and walk like a celebrity... short of that and some class, he is using the media to attack Obama by going negative with distractions. The real issue is not the lack of experience in Washington but judgment. We are in this economic mess because of the lack of judgment going into this stupid war that is costing us billions we need in this country. I do not see the media holding Mr. McCain responsible for that. The American people knows better about the real issues, and like Mrs. Clinton, McCain will loose credibility if he continues his attacks.

  1. Anita,
Americans knew G.Bush and see what happened.
Obama is not well known, and that is an advantage. He is on outsider to the Washington system of corruption.

Steve Powers: of course he wants to be President. Whoever thinks he has the qualities to fix the problems of the country will like to be President. You have no point. You are stating the obvious.

  1. Funniest thing I've seen yet !!!

So good because it hits at the core of Obama supporters! But not to worry Obama stalwarts, you can reply with the usual "he's too old" (how is discrimination based on age any different than that based on race?) or with the juvenile name slurs like "McNasty" etc. As they say, what goes around comes around !!!! ROFLOL !!!

  1. How dare you criticize The Messiah, The Mahdi, The Sheik Barack Hussein Obama is without equal. He has healed multitudes in Europe, fed the hungry, and has performed miracles in his 143 days in the US Senate. I've heard that he even walked on water and fly like Dumbo, but these rumors are unsubstantiated.

  1. I can't even imagine how any intelligent or educated man can think of using his invaluable vote to elect McCain. I never thought that US had such high illiteracy rate that McCain type of man can remain relevant in any election, let alone President of America election. Perhaps I was wrong.

Before voting for McCain why doesn't somebody teach him how to read the telepropter. How would we feel when he visits another country and is not able to read from a telepropmptor?

And how would we feel if he is talking to president of some other coutry and he looses his temper and starts shouting?

And how would we feel when he shows a blank face when another head of state talks about economy and finacial market?

And how would we feel when people from other coutries would say that the the guy who was fifth from the bottom of the class is the President of America?

And how would we feel when people would show us vedio clips of McCain talking so lowly about his presidential opponent without any facts or figures?

How would we feel when McCain says "President of Iran came to New York and said that he wants to wipe Isreal off the world map", when actually President of Iran had said that he wants referendum by people of Palestine and that foreign countries should let people decide their fate thr. the referendum?

  1. Interesting comment by Anita who states

"We really don't know this man", yet with breathtaking arrogance and ignorance went on to attribute so may negative things to him that it leaves one to assume that by clairvoyance she knows everything about him.

Therefore it leaves me to wonder whether she knows things about him that we don't and and if that is so, I would encourage her to make them public with facts or keep her partisan hysterics to herself.

The world is already too full of people who leads by hate, ignorance and intolerance of others views.

  1. Anita @ 10:22 am - What planet do you live on? Apparently you're not on solid ground or on Earth. What are your real issues with someone that's going to change the direction of our country for the better, and by the way, do you have equally nice things to say about John McCain? You haven't any evidence to offer that will make any of your outrageous statements about Obama true. Try to think critically about what's being offered by both of the candidates, and then offer us something like a reasonable argument as to why you won't vote for Obama - your emotional outburst is as juvenile as this SLATE video.

  1. Anita,
You're delusional and a liar. Where do you get your "facts" and information? Right! Totally made up, just meant to scare people. You're an idiot and dangerous to America.

  1. Old Mo could use not only punctuation lessons, but also a broader, more intelligent world view. For the record, Germany is an openly democratic society that allows Blacks like Old Mo to exist as they please. They don't owe him an apology for anything. If that's what he's looking for then I guess he should expect one for slavery.
