McCain: Media 'in love' with Obama

Posted by Foon Rhee, deputy national political editor July 22, 2008 11:44 AM

John McCain's campaign, with some acid humor, is directly addressing what many critics see as press infatuation with Democratic rival Barack Obama.

It announced today it is holding a contest between two video compilations of various media talking heads fawning over Obama and political foes remarking about it. Both are set to music, one to "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You" and the other to "My Eyes Adored You."

"It's pretty obvious that the media has a bizarre fascination with Barack Obama. Some may even say it's a love affair," the campaign said in a statement accompanying the videos. "The media is in love with Barack Obama. If it wasn't so serious, it would be funny."

  1. Yes, the media is in love with Obama. Currently, their infatuation is not shared by at least 40%+ of the voting public. My view is that the more they fall in love, the more we distrust the media and consequently Obama.

  1. LOL! Sounding like a whiney one to me. Senator Obama is truly a charm, but in all fairness the media protects McCain and EVERY thing that is questionable... The media may be in love with Obama, but the media shows equal partiality in "covering" up all of McCain's bloopers & blunders.... It's fair to say the media gives a lot of attention to Obama, but also protects their guy McCain

Except Keith & MSNBC... where there is equality... as it should be in AMERICA!

  1. I totally agree. Obama is the biggest media campaign ever perpetrated on the American people. I pray that come November we have more respect for ourselves and our country and vote for John McCain. Come on people. Time to wake up. Let's not be taken in by excellent marketing. We're smarter than that - I hope!.

  1. MJB....HAHAHAHAHA. Are you kidding me? Keith (Olbermann, I'm guessing you mean) and MSNBC are the worst offenders! Have you even seen his show or are you just THAT brainwashed? Olbermann (and his pathetic stand-in Rachel Maddow for that matter) has never, ever said something even remotely positive about McCain. They devote the entire show to tearing him (and Bush) down. Please. You call that "equality"? That is frightening ... this is what the media has done to people.

  1. McSame, you missed the point. We don't care whether the reporters and anchors are in love with Obama, as long as they are not biased in the quantity and quality of coverage that they give to the candidates. Moreover, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Some people may be attracted to Obama. But I, for one, am not. I have always seen him as a shrunken cigaratte addict. That's my impression from his appearance. From his behavior, I think he is self-aggrandising, not genuine, and lacks sincerity. Basically, I don't see an ounce of integrity in this person. I don't trust him at all.

  1. Seems McCain is the one in a mental recession and is the one whining.... Gramm needs to really tell him that... The M$M may be 'in love' with Obama, but they're doing a darn good job of covering for McSame's gaffes and 'spin'.... (aka, Bagdad was great and easy to walk freely around.... as long as you wore a flak jacket and had about 6+ marines guarding you...).

McCain is whining because all he offers is a 3rd term of Bush's failed policies and a large majority of people won't stand for that anymore. Obama represents moving the country forward and McCain respresents moving backwards even further than we have under Bush's administration...

  1. McCain is simply a scary individual. Anyone who can back at BEST 4 more years of Bush and possibly an even worse presidency (not sure if that's possible, but if it is, McCain could probably pull it off) needs to have their head examined. This isn't even about whether you like Barrack Obama or not. At this point, with our economy in the crapper, all of our friends and allies overseas disgusted with us, and having been dragged into two fruitless wars... the next election isn't about personal preference... it's about the survival of this country as a functioning political entity. Has anyone LOOKED at our Federal debt under these Republican half-wits? We are buried under 10 tons of moose poop and it's time to wake up.

This "love affair" between Obama and the media is a product of two things: first, McCain is as hard to listen to is he is hard to look at, and second, Obama is one of the most charasmatic politicians of the last few decades. That says nothing about his ability to lead the country, but honestly, could he do much worse than the current fool-in-chief?

  1. I don't remember McCain complaining when the media fawned over him. C'mon you McSame supporters, get over it. Obama has maturity, judgement. experience and vision. McSame has age, a well-oiled wind vane, 30 years off experience in Washington, and a poor memory.

  1. The media may love Obama, but they love McCain even more --- notice how they never fail to mention that he's a "maverick" that everybody in the GOP hates, practically begging independents to vote for him. And remember how McCain treats the press corps to BBQ and called reporters his "base." Meanwhile, we get Joan Vennochi, a supposed liberal columnist, absolutely trashing Obama on Sunday --- just like she went after Kerry four years ago. And when the Iraqi Prime Minister endorses Obama's plan for withdrawal from Iraq, the good old supposedly liberal newspapers (Globe, NY Times, Washington Post) can't run away from that story fast enough.

  1. The media is SO in love with Obama that Warner Music has filed a copyright infringement over this spoof of Obama because they don't want it to become a hit.

Gimme a break. I hope Obama gets his azz handed to him in November. He's just another Slick Willy, narcissistic sumbiatch. Lord, please let wiser heads prevail and not the flash in the pan fanatics that are currently masturbating over the Osama candidate. I know America has screwed you over and is shoving you out of its life, but don't let it go to heck this fast with this guy.

    Amen.

  1. I do not understand the failed logic of calling him McSame. While I consider myself an independent and will not decide my vote until November, I am quite tired of the 4 more years agenda. If one simply looks at the voting record of McCain, they can see that he has split with the GOP on key issues in the past. Obama has few years of experience, and while he proposes many great ideas, I personally do not see him in a positive light. While Obama is extremely charismatic, I think it is also important to remember that other charismatic leaders of history include Hitler, Mussolini, and demagogue Huey Long. I only wish that politics were not decided by an elite few on both sides, but rather in the classical ideal of liberalism as founded by our forefathers.
