MoveOn.org pushes 'hope'

Posted by Foon Rhee, deputy national political editor July 28, 2008 02:09 PM

The antiwar group MoveOn.org, warning its supporters that Republicans are trying to tamp down young voters' enthusiasm for Barack Obama, announced today that it will air an ad all about hope.

The ad, which will air on MTV and Comedy Central, features people saying that hope could happen to you. Mimicking an anti-drug public service announcement, it ends with a woman holding up an egg and saying, "This is your brain," and a man next to her answering "This is your brain on hope" and holding up a chick.

The spot was picked the funniest in a contest held by MoveOn.org. The overall winner in May was a more predictable ad in which a California police detective declares, "I'm a lifelong Republican and I'm voting for Barack Obama." The group says it was selected from more than 1,100 submissions and after 5.5 million online votes and judging by a celebrity panel.

  1. This "hope" message is only nice, if you already like Obama.

We need something that can break the Republican dittoheads from their fearful trace. How Papa Republican became the only thing to keep them safe at night I'll never know, but there are lots of people hiding under the covers out there.

They've been taught to be intolerate of anyone that isn't endorsed by O'Reilly and Limbaugh.

McCain didn't used to be such a classless Cheney puppet. Now he's airing false ads, and there are some that are just happy to beleive it.

  1. If one might reply, rather in kind:

We ALSO need something that can break the Democratic Massachusetts dittoheads from their fearful [ correction ] trance. How the Illinois Messiah became the only thing to keep them hopeful I'll never know, but there are lots of people sniffing the "hope" fumes out there.

They've been taught to be intolerate of anyone that isn't endorsed by Moveon.org and the Daily Kos.
