Obama plans birthday fete in Boston

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama will celebrate his 47th birthday in Boston with a giant fundraising event at the State Room on Aug. 4.

The event, which will include a dinner and an earlier reception for larger donors, is expected to raise several million dollars for the campaign and Democratic Party. News of the event was announced via e-mail to members of Obama's New England steering committee on Tuesday.

The first-term senator from Illinois, a graduate of Harvard Law School, will mark his birthday in a room with one of the great panoramic views of Boston Harbor. The State Room, on the 33rd floor of 60 State Street, features a glass wall, 30 feet by 120 feet and the facility seats up to 800.

It will be Obama's first visit to Boston since a rally on the eve of the Massachusetts primary, which he lost to Hillary Clinton on Super Tuesday on Feb. 5.

    Gov Patrick and Mr Murray are making an impact on this State for years to come. I am proud that the three of you will be in Mass. on August 4. As Tim Russert would say, "Go get em" !

  1. I hope Romney will be on McCain's ticket, then more people will decide to vote for McCain rather than Obama, King of empty talk and vacuous smile.

NOBODY in MA could stand him when he was Governor (or should I say "Absentee" Governor)! What makes you think we would like him now?????

    My sign will say "Happy Birthday Obama, Where Were You Born?"

    His birth certificate is a fake, he may not have been born in the U.S., and he may be an Indonesian citizen. Our Constitution requires presidential candidates be born in the U.S. and not have dual citizenship.

    Hillary or McCain 08!!!!!
