Obama's plane makes unexpected stop in St. Louis
Barack Obama is scheduled to deliver a speech on the economy in Charlotte, N.C., today -- but he may be a little bit late.
Obama's plane made an unscheduled stop in St. Louis on its way to Charlotte due to a mechanical problem. The plane had taken off from Chicago.
The Associated Press described the issue as:
"The plane, an MD-80 Midwest charter, experienced a problem maintaining the proper pitch, or control over keeping the nose at the proper angle, as it was taking off from Chicago, the pilot said."
Despite the unexpected delay, Obama seemed to be in good spirits.
"I just thought we'd spice things up a little bit today," the presumptive Democratic nominee joked with reporters during the layover.
UPDATE: Charlotte residents will have to wait for another day to see Obama. Due to the plane's mechanical problems, Obama decided to deliver his economic speech in St. Louis.
