Ron Paul's campaign started selling tickets today to his counter-rally during the Republican convention in September.
As of 5 p.m., the count was at 5,474 for the event at the Target Center in Minneapolis on Sept. 2, as the GOP holds its convention across the river in St. Paul.
Paul, the Texas congressman who suspended his presidential bid last month, moved his "Rally for the Republic" from the smaller Williams Arena to the 18,000-seat Target Center because of expected interest.
During the GOP primaries, he won 1.2 million votes and raised nearly $35 million. His campaign said the Campaign for Liberty, formed June 16 when he ended his presidential bid, has attracted over 71,000 members.

Liberty? Whats that?
Doesn't everyone know that like Hannity says, this is the greatest, most free, best, country that God gave this great earth.
Who needs liberty when this great country has the patriot act, practices torture, bails out big corporations, caters to big business, prints money to pay for things only they can provide, and does so many other things just to protect our freedom?
Read George Orwell's "1984".
When you hear a politician talk about "liberty", it's what Orwell called "Newspeak". Lip service, feel-good only. Vote-for-me appeal.
Hannity is champion of Newspeak.

When you hear a politician talk about "liberty", it's in the context of what Orwell called "Newspeak".
Basically lip service, feel-good only. Has lots of vote-for-me appeal.
Hannity is champion of Newspeak.
Please attend if you are interested about why our once great country is now 3rd World broke. Dr. Paul has been trying to explain. Will you listen? I will never forgive CNN & Coooper Anderson for that "debate"! Sorry had to vent.
Duh....you ain't kidding. I sometimes look at my children and feel overwhelming guilt that we brought them into this mess. If we do as Dr. Paul says, it is going to be nasty for a bit but in the end we will all be stronger as a Nation for it. The people of my generation have been bred to believe that government is there to hold your hand and coddle you. Capitalism is based on the freedom to fail. If bailouts were such a wonderful thing then where are the bailouts for the possible thousands of small businesses that went under because of overwhelming regulatory practices and the never-ending credit crunch. I guess all we can do is our best to fix it now and save some country for our children.
Dr. Paul...you da man for our next prez!!!
it is not what people say it is what they do ... Paulson, Bernanke and the Bush administration say they support a strong dollar and in everything they do they weaken the dollar. Congress should have stepped up to the plate and said no to these bail outs. Those that take the risks in these investments ... need to assume to risks, if wrong you loose if right you get the dough. It is unreal that the system in place allows folks to be bailed out by the US taxpayer if wrong. We need this system to fail so that we can get the country back out of the unseen hand. Everyone is afraid of loosing what they have materially when what they should be concerned with the Liberty lost. I would loose all my material wealth to get this country back. Wanting to hit rock bottom so we can all be free. I love you all be well
Last week, a homeless man was in jail for stealing 42 cent from a fountain in a Florida mall. He needed 500 dollar for bail. Cannot afford of course. Nobody knows how much it costs the State to keep him behind bars. I'm longing the day when election donations are made illegal (all candidates have to accept public fund instead). People then use their contributions for humanitarian purposes. Politicians will not have free money to throw over the window irresponsably, carelessly.
For those that believe that the answers to our problems are related to government. The question to ask is this: If more governement is the answer, then why, since the government has taken over so much, has everything gotten worse? If you are looking for a counter arguement to your answer that more government is good, you need search no further than the Constitution and the Bill of Rights that you claim to beleive in and support. You cannot be FOR this form of government that we currently have, and be FOR the Constitution. In other words, you cannot be a globalist and be for the Constitution and the Bill of Rights too. That is a contradiction of ideologies. No matter if a republican or democrat is elected this time round, if they do not support the Constitution, Bill of Rights, sound money, non interventionist foreign policy, individual liberties, they are unworthy of our support. Please do not say Obama, or McCain have are in line with the Constitution/Bill of Rights. We know, by their actions that they are not. Leave the political circus & come into reality. It is time to wake up and fight for our Constitution and Bill of Rights. Our childrens future depends on us to.

Ron Paul is the only true scholar of the Constitution left in Congress.
Let's have a groundswell of support for Paul to elect him
and bring our Constitutional form of government back.
No war without a declaration of war voted on by Congress.
The right to life, as guaranteed in the Constitiition.
Now is not the time to say you will vote Ron paul in for president. It is clear the the elites that run this country don't want him in there because he will trample everytthing they have. The thing to do is get local congressment like Ron Paul in congress. Give our white knight a fighting chance!!!! Give him like minded individuals in congress!!!! Look in your area for these people...they are out there. One man cannot do it alone. The constitution was built that way so one man (president) couldn't create a dictatorship. We need more in congress and the senate!!!! Shift gears already people!
anyone going through new jersey to minn? i need a ride
As a Canadian, I need to say how inspiring and invigorated in politics I have become watching your primaries. Senator Paul is the only candidate from my northern view who speaks with integrity, intelligence and knowledge. I don't agree with all his policies but I do have faith in this man as leader of the "free "world. He has maintained an extraordinary, brilliant campaign built on ethics and truth and access to congress. I also note that Senator Obama has mimicked many of his strategies and policies though Obama has a tendency to do a lot of flip-flopping as the audience changes. I have received an e-mail from the Obama campaign asking for a $5.00 for his rally at the Denver convention where he will be 'annointed'. In return for your donation you will be flown there with accommodation to meet Barack backstage personally. If you don't make a donation, that's Ok...you can still meet Obama in person backstage.. What simpleton buys into this??? He has no counters as are viewed on Paul's web site. Who knows what numbers Obama boasts are real? He prints that he is expecting 75,000 to rally to his cause at the Democratic convention. The transparency of his superficial attempt to "do" president is overwhelmingly scary. I really hope the media and press will give us all a break, even Canadians, and start covering the 'real' story. Ron Paul's movement is legitimate and truly is rising from the grass roots of the country. Let the voice of the people be counted.
Don't give up on the rEVOLution! Dr. Paul may be out of the Presidential race, but we can put Libertarians in office at State and City levels, where the REAL power of government is!
VOTE LIBERTARIAN!
