Nader also plans GOP counter-rally

Posted by Foon Rhee, deputy national political editor August 13, 2008 02:40 PM

Ralph Nader announced today that he will hold a rally in conjunction with the Republican National Convention, as well as the Democratic gathering, to protest the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan -- and to press to get into the presidential debates.

The Minneapolis rally is scheduled for Sept. 4 -- the day John McCain is to formally accept the GOP nomination across the river in St. Paul. Earlier that week, Texas Congressman Ron Paul, who opposes the Iraq war, also plans a counter-rally.

Nader's rally in Denver is set for Aug. 27 -- the day Barack Obama's vice presidential pick is supposed to give his or her acceptance speech.

"As Ralph put it the other day, if we are allowed into the debates - and reach tens of millions of Americans with our message - it will be a three-way race," his campaign told supporters, seeking donations for the rallies. "Thanks to your help, we are on track to be on 45 states ballots by September 20 (Currently, we are on 31.) If we get into the debates, our six percent in the polls will jump to 15 percent or more. And the American people will sense a three-way race. Then everything is possible."

  1. Poor Ralph... but at least he's better than the embarrassingly senile Bush-clone McCain, the flip-flopping people-pleasing globalist Obama, or the thinly-veiled neocon Barr.

Ron Paul sure has inspired many people to try to emulate him and his success at galvonizing millions of loyal, formerly-apathetic supporters, but what they don't understand is that he is a true original who cannot be duplicated.

Don't think too many will be showing up at Ralph's shin-dig. Is he still on the ballot??

  1. You pity Ralph? lol

Ralph is doing just fine. Dems won't be suing him off ballot status like they did in 2004. That's because those dems have been indicted and are headed to jail. Ralph is pulling 6% nationally. Have you see him getting covered on the news? Nope. He is pulling 6% with a virtual media blackout.

  1. You pity Ralph? lol hoookay.

He should be on 45 ballots and a write-in on the rest. He's polling 6% nationally with a virtual media blackout. That is phenomenal. Obama opted to run into the arms of the Commission on Presidential Debates (headed up by former DNC and RNC leaders) who block out third parties and independents. Used to be League of Women Voters who put on the debates. When Ross Perot got in... they formed the CPD and created ridiculous thresholds to keep anyone else from ever doing so. If someone were to get close, they'd move those goal posts.

This election the Dems can't sue him bankrupt like they did in 2004. Mostly becasue those Dems are going to jail this year. Google "Nader Pennsylvania ballot Dems indicted". So his showing should be quite a bit better as compared to 2004. Should he get into the debates... it's on.

Anyhow, Ralph is doing just fine. No pity needed. lol
