No rest for the leery

We may be in the dog days of summer, but Mitt Romney, perhaps the hardest-working man in political show business, isn't relaxing much. Romney tells supporters in a new email solicitation for his PAC, Free and Strong America, that Republicans simply can't rest given all the activity by the opposing party.

"Summer is a time that is traditionally considered 'slow' in politics, but this year, we cannot afford to slow down," he writes. "The Democrats certainly aren't and conservative Republicans across the country need our help to ensure we have the resources to spread our message to voters."

Romney says the PAC has already helped McCain and almost 50 other candidates "who are ready to confront the challenges facing America." "I will be traveling around the country on behalf of many of them as well," he writes.

And then the pitch: a contribution of $50 or more gets you an official Free and Strong America PAC T-shirt.

"It's great for the beach and cookouts," he writes, not that he seems to reserve much time for those things himself. "And by wearing it, you will show that you are committed to making a difference in this critical election."

Oh, and the first 100 people who give $100 or more get their T-shirt signed. At the very least, donors would have a John Hancock from a former governor and formidable presidential candidate. Or perhaps the next vice president. Or, who knows, maybe even a president. Some day.

.

I think Mitt Romney is the best! He is so amazing and would be a great VP and an even better President.

I'm for anything Romney related. He's one of the only men out there with a spine enough to say and do what needs to be said and done regardless of what others say, think, or do about it.
