Obama ad questions McCain's independence
Responding to John McCain's new TV ad declaring himself "the original maverick" and distancing himself from the Bush administration, Barack Obama launched a new TV ad today that rebuts those claims.
The spot starts with a snippet of McCain's ad, then shows the presumptive Republican nominee bragging in 2003 about voting with Bush nearly all the time.
The announcer then notes that McCain wants to extend Bush's tax cuts, which Obama and other critics say favor the wealthy. The ad also hits McCain for favoring $4 billion in tax breaks for oil companies, though it doesn't note that McCain's plan to slice the federal corporate tax rate would benefit all businesses, not just oil companies.
"The original maverick, or just more of the same?" the announcer asks, as a picture appears on screen of a smiling McCain and Bush together.
Obama, himself, hit the ad, telling voters in Elkhart, Ind., that McCain is now saying Washington is broken.
"No kidding." Obama said. "It only took 26 years to figure that out."
He said he's having trouble reconciling the ad with McCain saying recently that the country has made “great progress economically” over the past eight years or McCain's voting record supporting the president.
Yes, let's look at Obama's own "maverick" past, shall we?
His spiritual mentor to both him and his family is a RACIST demagogue who spewed filth about the United States and "whitey". Obama listened to this hate-mongoring for 20 YEARS and did not say one SINGLE word in opposition. He absorbed it all and incorporated it into his own values system. It was politically expedient for him and his family to join this hate-filled congregation in order to gain a foothold in southside Chicago politics.
His political mentor is a domestic terrorist who made no bones about his hatred for "the man" and his willingness to repeat his violent past.
He picks Teddy Kennedy's niece to run his VP selection purely because Teddy endorsed him. Payback politics as usual. Wow!! That's a maverick!!
He changes his economic, energy and foreign policies purely based on how the political winds are blowing. He has no gahoonas to stick to his beliefs.
He uses the Race Card at will and his supporters will attack you as a racist if you speak out against him.
He offers "change and hope" but only if you are a Socialist.
He attacks Big Oil and Big Pharma and will "go after their profits". He has no concept as to what fills the coffers of your retirement plans (401k, IRA, pensions). Then again, it all is to go to the State. (Karl Marx)
By definition a maverick is a wild horse. We do not need a wild horse, we need a brain in the white house who can lead us to solutions, speak the English language in full sentences without 10 grammatical errors in each one and restore our standing in the wold community instead of following behind a president who has been a total embarassment.
Obama presents himself as the messiah; if you look behind his words and at his political posturing over the years he is an avowed socialist that bodes ill for this country. He cut his political teeth on the most corrupt political machine since Tammany Hall-the Daley machine. He is a cross between McGovern and Carter. On the other hand not withstanding McCain's service to his country he has really done anything remarkable in the Senate other than join up with liberals in 3 major bills. He is a RINO. He needs to go on the attack mode against the Dems ; that he is reluctant to do so, presents him as a candidate with no fire in his belly.
THE BUSH/CHENEY DISASTER MUST END.
God forgive I find myself hating John McCain to win the presidency he is willing to reduce all our behavior on either side of the argument to its lowest common denominator and destroy all the racial progress we have made as a nation in the last fifty years His low tactics prove he is the same POW coward who gave away American positions they had locked up in Nam.
John McCain might have been "Maverick" when he was landing fighter jets on the aircraft carrier Enterprise. However, after 26 years in Washington, DC John McCain has proved himself to be no more than "Bush III".
The Original Maverick was and always will be James Garner, not a very old snake ... I mean politician, incapable of shedding his oil covered skin.
It warms my heart every time I see a proverbial campaign punch land on John McCain. It's good to see BHO finally fighting back. This election should be about John McCain's close ties to George Bush in word and in deed.
McCain got away with calling himself a war hero. Just WHAT did McCain do to make him a war hero?? Being a POW who agreed to make propaganda ADs for the VietCong does NOT make him a hero. Where is his "Medal of Honor" award? When was it presented to him? What did he DO to earn it?? McCain showed up for work, was a mediocre pilot, and not a smart guy at all. McCain is a con artist, nothing more. He takes credit for things he has not done. There is NOTHING heroic about "teasing" the enemy to shoot him down and being taken prisoner. Justy why did McCain defy his commander's orders and circle back to the target he had just bombed?? Instead of hightailing it out of enemy territory? What pilot in his/her right mind would do what McCain did?? I believe McCain was on a suicide mission; I understand he has attempted suicide at least twice. McCain had shamed his family name, (both grandpa& dad were Admirals in the U.S. Navy), he shamed the U.S. Navy, and the United States of America, at least that is what his commander told him and that that was why McCain would NEVER make Admiral. McCain retired as a CAPTAIN in the U.S. Navy. After 20+ years in service, you would think, he would have been higher up the latter. But, NO, McCain made it ONLY as far as Captain. Which tells me he was mediocre at best. He certainly was no General Clarke! Senator Obama is now saying the Congress has failed us for the last 30 years? Really? Where was McCain?? Wasn't he a member of that same Congress for the last 26 years?? And he is just now discovering the Congress has failed us?? Senator Obama is right on point, it has taken McCain 26 long years to figure out he and the rest of the Congress have failed us. However, please note that he leaves HIMSELF out of the equation. Too funny!!

H popell, it is you and your ilk that obviously perceive Senator Obama as "The Messiah". He certainly does not pretend to be Jesus! Jesus Christ was and is the ONLY Messiah, how dare you take His name and mock Senator Obama with His name! McCain did the same thing in his "The One" Ad. You suppose maybe you are making God and Jesus very unhappy with your mockery of Jesus to mock Obama?? How do you know God and Jesus haven't chosen Barack Obama to lead this country out of the quagmire in which the Republicans have thown us?? You know, kind of like He chose Moses to lead the Israelites out of Egypt and bondage?? You remember that scripture, right? God works in His own way and in His own time. Who knows?? And, yes, God chooses people to do His earthly work for Him. Who knows? I don't and neither do you. All I know is that Senator Obama is a man of great merit, he has made it on his own without relatives pulling in favors and strings, like G.W.B. and McCain!
