Obama, Democrats launch new anti-McCain spots
Barack Obama is up with more ads in key states trying to hammer John McCain on issues of particular concern.
One features a series of Indiana and Ohio residents talking about tough economic times -- after a clip of McCain saying in January that times have been pretty prosperous with low unemployment.
Economic conditions have worsened significantly since then, however, and McCain has called for more help.
"How can John McCain fix the economy when he doesn't think it's broken," the screen says at the end.
Another spot, targeted for Nevada, focuses on McCain's support for a controversial nuclear waste repository in Yucca Mountain. McCain is calling for building 45 nuclear plants as part of an energy independence policy, and waste from those plants would have to be stored somewhere.
Obama opposes Yucca Mountain, which critics say has major safety issues, and the ad features footage of McCain saying he would oppose nuclear waste being transported through his home state of Arizona.
"John McCain, for nuclear waste in Nevada, just not in his backyard," the announcer says.
And, the Democratic National Committee has a new web video trying to capitalize on McCain calling lobbyists "birds of prey" during an interview Wednesday -- and contrasting that with the lobbyists involved in his campaign. McCain dismissed several and put in a stricter policy forcing his aides to stop lobbying while working on his campaign.
"McCain's rhetoric about lobbyists is so disconnected from reality that the real 'birds of prey' are the ones descending on his credibility and former maverick image. John McCain has so many lobbyists running and raising money for his campaign that job applicants apparently need to show their lobbyist disclosure forms to get in the door. John McCain's desperate and misleading rhetoric can't change the fact that he represents more of the same broken Washington politics," DNC spokesman Damien LaVera said in a statement.

They show a clip of McCain where he actually FORGETS how many houses his wife owns.
