Obama promises a new economy
Barack Obama today unveiled an economy-focused TV ad that seeks to tie Republican rival John McCain to the Bush administration's policies and that promises a new approach.
The ad shows a fake book -- "Economics by John McCain," the announcer says -- then goes through the chapters:
"Support George Bush 95 percent of the time. Keep spending $10 billion a month for the war in Iraq while the Iraqis sell oil for record prices. Giving Iraq a $79 billion oil surplus and hurting our economy."
Then, the announcer says that Obama will turn the page. "Barack Obama’s plan: End the war responsibly, better schools, no more tax breaks for oil companies."
"Barack Obama, the middle class first," the announcer concludes.
The spot is to begin airing Thursday in 16 battleground states, including New Hampshire.
UPDATE: Tucker Bounds, a McCain spokesman, said in response to the ad: “In the Senate, Barack Obama has voted in lockstep with President George W. Bush nearly half the time, including the Bush-Cheney Energy bill which gave close to 3 billion dollars in new giveaways to Big Oil – a terrible policy that John McCain opposed. The truth is Barack Obama’s plan is a job killing machine that ignores the struggling economy and raises taxes on family savings, social security and small businesses.”

If anyone believes Obama's promise of a new economy, I have some land in the swamps of Louisiana that will give you riches of oil and gold and I'll sell it to you at a good price.
Obama certainly knows more about politics than McCain does. Please vote for Obama, visit WHYOBAMA08.ORG!!
And dis is why, dis is why, dis is why Barack is not and McCain is not!
Obama '08!
This is ironic as Sen. Obama voted to give the oil companies a tax break the last time around. John McCain didn't.
Is this dishonesty the new sort of politics that Barack Obama promised? Or is this simply another one of his broken promises like his rejection of public financing, his refusal to 10 town hall debates after promising to debate John McCain "anytime, anywhere"? The only "Change" I see is Barack Obama changing his mind at every opportunity.
What is worse, the politician who is actually a politician or the man who promises more and turns out to be simply another politician? I'll take a person who knows who he is any day of the week rather than someone just out to dupe me.
For more reasons to vote for John McCain go to www.itsalldicta.blogspot.com.
Obama a job killing machine....... Ok tell that to the workers at DHL
Skimming a few words from part of facts is not honest, Obama wants to be president but he has no idea how to be president. he just knows he wants it.
Wheras John McCain knows, he has not agreed with George Bush on many issues, but surely the administration deserves support in many good things. had they dumped Rumstedt earlier and listened to McCain sooner the thing would be done by now. Yes, it has cost a lot, but we havent had another 9/11. have you noticed? I dont want a novice in that office.
Comrade Obama promises us a "new and improved" economy as follows:
Tax everyone to the nth degree so all the country's wealth is evenly spread out amongst everyone. Textbook Communism.
Tax Big Oil and Big Pharma so they can no longer make a profit. The State is to take them over as State run enterprises. Textbook Communism.
Tax Big Pharma so they can no longer have the R&D funds to come up with breakthrough drugs. Textbook Communism.
Tax everyone's inheritence so that the State gets everything. Textbook Communism.
Tax corporations so they don't make a profit and the stock market is no longer necessary. Textbook Communism.
Tax corporations to such an extent that it impacts the stock market. Hence, it impacts YOUR 401k, YOUR IRA, and YOUR Pension Plan which are all based on the stock market. Don't worry, the State will take care of you. Textbook Communism.
Comrade Obama is dangerous, very dangerous. America's way of life as we know will be history.
Welcome to the United Socialist States of America.

Great idea from a progressive thinker! "No more tax breaks for oil companies." It's brilliant!!!
But who does this bonehead think will make up for the difference in those oil company tax breaks? I guess that would be the general public - in the form of higher-priced gasoline. The next question is who will benefit from taking away those tax breaks from the oil companies. Why, of course, the government will. Hmmmm sounds like a real solid plan... It really makes me wonder if the Obamanation ever made it out of kindergarten.
Scary!!! Does Obama really think the American people are that stupid?
i cannot believe my home state of Massachusetts -- home to Harvard, MIT and amazing public schools -- has so many ill-informed or ignorant people.
listen folks, if really think obama is a secret communist, you're way off the deep end; go buy a small cabin in the middle of montana.
mccain voted against the energy bill because it gave $ to renewable energy businesses, NOT because it continued oil subsidies. obama, who knows the value of compromise, took the good ($$$ for alternative energy) with the bad (still oil subsidies, but smaller than in the past).
if you really hate your children and grandchildren that much, by all means vote for mccain, who has NO ability to think long-term, and will doom us to another horrific war (or three) or continue most of the moronic policies of the failed bush administration. or both.
i hate you tell you this, but gas isn't getting cheaper any time soon. and anyone who tells you differently is blowing smoke up you know where. dont be take for an idiot....its how the republicans win elections.
db - Your home state of TAXachusetts is so out of touch with mainstream America. Your noses are so stuck up in the air thinking the world revolves around Hahvahd and MIT.
Your public school system only takes care of the wealthy (Weston, Wellesley, Dover) and neglects the poor. Or you figure that if you ship a few of the poor black kids from Roxbury out to Weston/ Wellesley/Dover with your METCO programs that it makes you feel good and there, public school problem solved! Would you even think of busing the suburban snobs into Roxbury to balance things out? No flippin way.
You also have a two state mentality - the Boston suburbs and the rest of the state. You don't even know that western Mass. exists!
I'll stick with the sanity of Montana thank you.
I want to know what either of these candidates are going to do for me. I am middle-class and cannot afford to live in here anymore. If you live in NJ listen to 101.5 Jim Gearhart in the morning. He says it right. All of these politicians have their hand in the troff. What's in it for me, they say. NJ and Washington need a government that will fight for the people and not the unions or their buddies looking for a no-bid contract. We need an overhaul of both. NJ has 563 superintendents (one for each municipality). Their pay is somewhere between 100,000 and 150,000 a year. Why? They need to combine these districts and stop wasting money. My school district put an addition on our school. Hey that's great and I would pay the extra taxes for that. My superintendent received a bonus of $50,000 for getting it done on time. What????? Where do you think they got the $ for the bonus? Then I was told my son couldn't have an aide when he was in 2nd grade because of funding. Anybody see a problem with this picture??? People, we need to stand up to all of these politicians and say NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rally and fight for what you believe in.
