Patrick gets high-profile slot

DENVER -- Convention gossip often revolves around who gets the best hotels, seats in the convention hall, invitations to the right parties, and most coveted speaking slots.

In that regard Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick has scored big.

His appearance tonight from the Pepsi Center is scheduled not just in prime time, but sandwiched between the keynote speech by Governor Mark Warner of Virginia and Hillary Clinton's much anticipated address.

Patrick aide Doug Rubin said the speaking slot was arranged with Obama campaign manager David Axelrod several weeks ago. Patrick, a close ally of Obama's, has been an active surrogate whose rhetoric has been borrowed by the presumptive nominee.

"There's not many people better able to articulate the Obama message than Deval Patrick,'' Rubin said.

And Axelrod, who helped run Patrick's 2006 gubernatorial campaign, also knows ''what a great speaker he is.''

  1. "Patrick, a close ally of Obama's, has been an active surrogate whose rhetoric has been borrowed by the presumptive nominee."

Ummm, actually it's the opposite in regards to rhetoric. Deval's strategy for his campaign was borrowed from Obama's playbook.

  1. It's too bad Deval Patrick will not stop lying about his future intentions. It is clear he wants to be part of a possible future Obama administration, yet he keeps on saying how he will run for re-election as governor. It will be interesting if Obama loses the election so we can see Deval Patrick run for re-election on what everyone now knows to be empty rhetoric (think "Together We Can"). How far would those empty promises get him the next time around? , not far I'm thinking. He has let down the very people whose hope he manipulated.

  1. Obama, Deval, Biden, Kennedy, and Hillary represent the underlying decline of a superpower
