Romney plays surrogate
Mitt Romney made the rounds of the morning cable news shows today, declining again to address vice presidential speculation but aggressively pumping up the man who would pick him -- John McCain.
Romney, one of McCain's most enthusiastic and aggressive surrogates in recent weeks since withdrawing from the Republican presidential race and endorsing his former rival, had a couple new zingers aimed at Democrat Barack Obama.
On MSNBC, Romney called Obama "both ways Barack" for softening his opposition to more offshore oil drilling. And he said Obama is "like an Internet date" -- appealing on the surface, but someone who will lose support once Americans get to know him better because he does not have the experience or judgment to be president.
McCain has repeatedly praised Romney, who is believed to be on the Arizona's short list of potential running mates.
