Weather on Obama's side

Posted by Foon Rhee, deputy national political editor August 28, 2008 10:24 AM

Could the weather gods support Barack Obama?

You sort of get that feeling with the latest forecast.

For Obama's acceptance speech outdoors at Invesco Field in Denver, it'll be a clear night, with gorgeous hues of an early evening painting the Rocky Mountains (sunset is at 9:36 p.m. EDT, Obama's speech is scheduled for 10 p.m.)

Republican John McCain, for his convention next week in St. Paul, could be sharing the attention -- perhaps even the TV screen -- with Hurricane Gustav, which is bearing down on New Orleans on the third anniversary of the catastrophic Katrina.

As political junkies might recall, the two candidates had a similar fate last month.

Obama had perfect conditions for his speech in Berlin before an estimated 200,000 people outdoors at the Tiergarten. But McCain had to cancel his planned visit to an offshore oil rig that same day because of an approaching hurricane.

  1. Oh PLEASE!

Let's not get the "Barak is the anti-Christ" fanatics going. They're ALREADY frothing at the mouth as it is about the "roman columns!"

  1. So much for Stuart Shepard and his fans from Focus on the Family with their mean-spirited prayers for rain.

Maybe God heard their prayers, and answered them.
And just missed it by that much.

  1. It's not the weather...it's God.

  1. God dislikes Republicans, because they are elitist and not for the common person, as Christ was. They are Evangelical hypocrites who, outside of being stupid, use religion to justify their own advancement and make them feel socially important, not for love or any gospel.

The weather forecast is proof of this - just like the Old Testament days. Laugh if you want, but it is true.
