With all due respect to Karl Rove...

Posted by Sasha Issenberg August 29, 2008 10:50 AM

...does the McCain campaign listen to him?

"With all due respect again to Governor Kaine, he's been a governor for three years, he's been able but undistinguished. I don't think people could really name a big, important thing that he's done. He was mayor of the 105th largest city in America. And again, with all due respect to Richmond, Virginia, it's smaller than Chula Vista, California; Aurora, Colorado; Mesa or Gilbert, Arizona; north Las Vegas or Henderson, Nevada. It's not a big town."
--Karl Rove, August 10, "Face the Nation"

Tim Kaine's service as governor: three years
Sarah Palin's service as governor: twenty months

Population, Richmond, VA: 200,123
Population, Wasilla, AK: 9,780

  1. Not that I approve of this sort of "analysis" masquerading as news, but, of course, this observation is 100% correct. Sarah Palin seems pretty cool, able, and impressive, and no doubt she has a distinguished political career ahead of her. But, she absolutely fails the first test for a VP.

At 44, with less than 2 years experience holding statewide office, and prior to that serving on the city council of a small town in Alaska, this woman makes Barack Obama look like Ted Kennedy.

I don't know how the GOP plans to continue their attacks on Obama's inexperience when they've selected this newbie as the heir to the presidency of a 72 year old man.

  1. Who listens to Karl Rove anyway? It's about time that the chief Republican Anti-Christ rode off into the sunset.

  1. What is worse a vp with two years experience as a governor or a presidential candiate with two years experience as a senator, a vp who was mayor of a small town for a term or a presidential candidate who was a state senator for a term?

What is worse is on one hand blasting Palin for her lack of experience while ignoring Obama's, ignoring the fact that at the top of the GOP ticket is an experienced Senator while at the top of the Democrat ticket is someone who could not even pay for his own house

  1. With all due respect to the last commenter. I'll take a guy who has an IQ high enough to get into Harvard Law and Columbia and graduate magna cum laude over someone with an IQ that is enough to become Miss Congeniality.

And before you say anything about me being sexist. I too competed in pageants, but I also have an IQ that afforded me entry into Harvard! :) lol

I'll take a person who worked for the people and with the people as a community organizer (you know...that thing that Sarah Palin seems to detest) over someone who worked porking the people (leaving her small town in debt over 20 mil and taking the money for the bridge to nowhere before the feds refused to give more, and refusing to give it back!).
