Women's group plans Democratic unity event
A gala reception on the second day of the Democratic National Convention will bring together Hillary Clinton, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and Michelle Obama, wife of the party's presumptive nominee, EMILY's List announced this morning.
"This special event, held on the 88th anniversary of women’s suffrage, will celebrate Democratic women as we come together for victory at the Democratic National Convention," the announcement says.
The event is scheduled for Aug. 26, the same day as when Clinton is expected to give the keynote address to the convention in Denver.
It's the latest sign of the unity effort in the Democratic Party.
EMILY's List, which helps finance female candidates who support abortion rights, was among Clinton's most vocal supporters. Its leaders complained over how she was treated during the primaries.
But since Obama clinched the nomination in June, the group has urged women who supported Clinton not to defect to Republican John McCain, warning of his record on women's rights.

Obama is no friend of ours. Obama ran a vicious and mean-spirited campaign against Hillary. He now hopes to placate her (and her supporters) by giving her the "keynote speaker" role at the convention. He will not consider a woman as his VP pick - he will only pick a white male to show middle America that he's really one of them. He won't dare alienate the middle class white males by picking a woman VP. He picked Caroline Kennedy for his VP vetting task force only as a REWARD to her uncle Teddy for supporting him. That was plain old Washington politics at its best. And he claims to "be above all that". WHAT A PHONEY!!!

Oh yeah, and if it wouldn't be too much trouble, could all you other dems please remember to vote for Hillary in 2012?
(pats self on back) See you in four years!
Yes, let's trash the country for 4 more years under another nut job just to get back at Obama (who's campaign was frankly, a lot less dirty than Hill's). Hopefully we'll still have a country left after that so we can get Hill into office in '12. Good thinking.
Tradition has been broken many times, and the Dems are no exception, especially with a female and a black having faced each other in the primary. Regardless of who won the primary, both of these candidates need to run as a team. Obama will be a fool not to ask Hillary to be his running mate. She can get him votes that no other candidate can, including mine. Keynote speaker or no, Hillary's gotta be the one.
One of the only clear stances Obama has is on abortion. Elsewhere he spews abstractions with no substance, but here he is clear: it is a good idea for 1.7 million babies to be cut from their mother's wombs with stainless steel instruments.
This issue will not go away. Behold what is happening on ballot initiatives in Colorado and South Dakota this fall.
Hillary should stay away from Nancy Pelosi, the loser, and Michelle Obama, the angry black woman. Nancy Pelosi is the most incompetent House Speaker in recent history. Please tell her to go away! California should be able to send someone better than that! No offense to Californians. We at MA have Kerry. God forbid! I hope we'll replace him this November!
If that isn't a slap in the face of SISTERHOOD. Madame Pelosi is a "Little Doll" , but best described as a Grandmother wearing an Apron with a jackknife in her pocket. (She backstabbed Hillary good enough.) Michelle Obama with her muscle toned arms (yeah baby!), she hates whites and hates Hillary. Oh yes, she also hates America.
Senatory Hillary Rodham Clinton, a First Class Lady who was cheated of the Presidency by her own rotten party and the slimey Chicago group.
I am really quite alarmed at what universe most of these Hillary supporters live in.Obama didn't "steal" the election...she LOST the election. Bad campaign, no fiscal responsibility, hubrus for her arrogance in thinking she'd have it wrapped up by February. While the media showed gener bias, Senator Obama did not. He was and still is much less nasty, vindictive and arrogant than Billary. Frankly, I used to really admire Senator Clinton but as of now I am all done with her, her supporters, her pathological need to be respected over and over again. If Obama loses (and I pray and work very hard so he won't) I would not vote for Hillary in 2012 if my life depended on it...and neither would any of the thousand...nay millions of other Barack supporters who feel it is SHE who has disrespected Obama, his wife, the party and...I could go on but enough. Hillary, PLEASE just get over yourself. You are extremely annoying...I am female, over 50 and I know of what I speak. Move on, for chrissake.
I use to be a Republican. I switched parties so I could vote for Hillary Clinton in the primaries. I read many books about her and discovered that everything she has ever done in school, college, as a lawyer, etc. she has excelled. I not only read pro Hillary books but I also read the anti Hillary books and even the anti Hillary books could not deny that when she took on a job she excelled. She was mistreated by the media, O'bama campaign, Nancy Pelosi and others. Well, here in Pa. there is one vote that John McCain can count on now. I do not want a rookie as President of my country. This is not a position for on the job training. Good bye Barack, Hello John McCain.
