DOVER, N.H. -- Barack Obama, campaigning on tax relief here this afternoon, seized on a comment rival John McCain made last night at a forum on public service at Columbia University, in which McCain said that, as a senator, he was somewhat "divorced" from the challenges facing American families.

"Maybe they don't see what's taking place," Obama said of his Republican rivals. "Maybe they're out of touch. But I do see what's going on and so do you, all across America."

McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds accused Obama of distorting McCain's words. “It’s a shame that Barack Obama is using a discussion of service on September 11th as the basis for a distorted political attack," he said in a statement.

Bounds noted that Obama, at the same event, said that while small-town mayors have to fix potholes and make sure the garbage is picked up, "We yak in the Senate."

Obama today also mocked McCain's vow to tell special interests that their days of running Washington are over. "Here's the only problem," Obama said. "His campaign's run by some of biggest lobbyists in Washington. Who's he going to tell, his campaign manager? His campaign chairman? That's not change."

Reprising the old Ronald Reagan zinger, Obama said, "If you are better off than you were eight years ago ... John McCain is your man. If you believe it's time for fundamental changes in Washington and a president who puts the middle class first, then I believe we -- Joe Biden and Barack Obama -- are the folks who are going to lead that change."

Obama also resisted calls to run a more rough-and-tumble campaign in the face of increasingly pointed attacks from McCain's camp. "I just have a different philosophy, and that is, I'm going to respond with the truth." He added, "I'm not going to start making up lies about John McCain."

  1. To the McCain supporters, John is a hero and a credit to our country and he deserves his eight or nine houses.
That said Barack is of a different mold. He is a different intriguing kind of person who has a certainty about where he wants to see our great country. I would like to see where a Harvard scholar who understands both poverty and racism firsthand takes our great nation when given the power of the Oval office. He is not above anyone folks, he works for you and me!
    Obama/Biden in 08!

  1. This is not change and McCain et al are employing Carl Rove's tactic in this campaign...just the same old thing we've seen in the past two election...corrupt and unAmerican. Its amazing...I support Palin on this: secession from the union.

    VOTING MANIPULATION

State Republicans, though, have a plan to give the McCain campaign an edge: suppress the vote.

The chairman of the Republican Party in Macomb County Michigan, a key swing county in a key swing state, is planning to use a list of foreclosed homes to block people from voting in the upcoming election as part of the state GOP's effort to challenge some voters on Election Day. "We will have a list of foreclosed homes and will make sure people aren't voting from those addresses," party chairman James Carabelli told Michigan Messenger in a telephone interview earlier this week. He said the local party wanted to make sure that proper electoral procedures were followed.

State election rules allow parties to assign "election challengers" to polls to monitor the election. In addition to observing the poll workers, these volunteers can challenge the eligibility of any voter provided they "have a good reason to believe" that the person is not eligible to vote. One allowable reason is that the person is not a "true resident of the city or township."

The Michigan Republicans' planned use of foreclosure lists is apparently an attempt to challenge ineligible voters as not being "true residents."

The scheme would, of course, disproportionately affect African-American families in the area, who are more likely to vote Democratic, and more likely to be in foreclosure as a result of sub-prime loans.

This is just part of a "comprehensive voter-challenge campaign" Michigan Republicans are launching this year, which will coordinate with the regional McCain campaign to train volunteers in challenging those who wish to vote on Election Day. (Whether the foreclosure-driven scheme will be implemented statewide is unclear.)

Asked about the GOP's efforts, Carabelli said, "I would rather not tell you all the things we are doing."

  1. And who runs the Nobama campaign? Why it's the failed Fannie Mae execs after cashing out at the expense of the "average middle class American". Come now Mr. Obama, a little truth would surely go a long way.

You're a first class person and it's worth it to stick with your principles.

You inspire me again and again.

I recommend the poem "If" by Ruyard Kipling to one and all. You'll get it then.

  1. He's putting a lot of faith in the American people. The Republicans are very good at running mudslinging and nasty campaigns -- as McCain knows from his own experience on the receiving end. Banking on our ability to detect the truth in that cloud of lies and distortions -- its a big gamble.

  1. "I'm not going to start making up lies about John McCain" NoBama, you won't ahve to start because you already are! I guess there is some truth to what you are saying. You can't hold a candle to McCain or Palin, your whole campaign, incidentally run for the last two years on the taxpayers dollars because you were on the campaign trail instead of in Washington doing your duty to the citizens of Ilinois, is a sham and a facade. it is crumbling and you will lose.

Smear away, everyone else standing in your way was brought down by smears, it is what you do best. although you have the media and the closed door politico's doing it for you while you smile for the camera's and the crowds.

Why do you think he is where he is today???? Don't take much thinking!

  1. The beauty is, Obama doesn't have to make up lies, but can still be "rough-and-tumble". The truth is much more hard hitting than any lie the McCain campaign could conceivably make up.

  1. John McCain has no honor. He is a liar and Bush sycophant and has proven it with his ridiculous TV ads. He is desperate... but sadly his lies are winning over some uninformed Americans in the short term.

McCain is a disgrace and his VP pick is a disgrace.

Republicans have made America a laughing stock. It's gotta stop.

  1. It is time for the press to become more responsible and focus on the issues and the specific plans of the candidates. A large percentage of Americans don't understand what they are voting for. They don't understand the complexities of the issues. The press needs to help them understand. And the American people all have a responsibility to study the issues. This is a really important election. Let's all do our job.

  1. To answer Mr. Obama's challenge directly - "If you're better off than you were eight years ago, the John McCain is your man," he has published a couple of books, made a few million and is much better off. Does that mean McCain is his man and thus he is leaving the race? If not, how is he being misquoted to answer his own challenge? The real question is why were you not prepared if you are not better off than you were eight years ago? And secondly, why should I pay for you if you were not preparing yourself to be successful? Of course there are some who suffer tragedy and disaster beyond their control, but where is the personal preparation for our nation or is Mr. Obama pushing a need for the government to provide everything for everyone - health care, a college education, etc...?

  1. Obama needs to be on the offensive in an aggressive manner but not make any hysterical personal attacks on McCain or Palin. Hoeever he has to promptly rebutt aggressively any lies and personal attacks McCain campaign makes. It seems like americans think highly of an aggressive person even he/she is liar and a crook. I think it is also same with our politicians as well.

Republicans use the same tired tactic campaign after campaign - scare the public and beat down their opponent with negative ads. Polls suggest that the American public looks down upon these tactics, but the sad truth is, they work. If Obama is going to win this election, he better put the bunny back into his hat and pull out a pit bull instead.

  1. The truth is that those states that are not "ready" for change are states that people can't let themselves let go of "color". Obama's campaign is running on common sense issues about this country. Issues that affect "all" middle class and poor americans.

Get over the long history of "color" and move on to put America back on top where it should be. "Color" has no room in this race. Stick to Issues. John McCain needs to go home and retire. Let someone else have the opportunity to serve his State.

  1. McCain/Palin are not ready to run the economy of the world. First off they are being promoted by the same Republican corporate interests that supported Bush/Cheney. McCain/Feingold took ten years to finally pass in a convoluted version that looks nothing like the original bill. Palin at best is as qualified as George W. Bush was when he ran for office 8 years ago. Look what has happened as a result.

  1. It's funny that Obama, a product of big money from the Democratic Party Machine who is clearly on board with the well moneyed environmental lobby, the lucrative abortion industry, well financed anti-gun organizations, and Code Pink, MoveOn.org, and a host of other well financed organizations, made a quip about John McCain's association with lobbyists. It's hilarious that Obama "tried but failed" to steal the labels of “reformer” and “maverick” from a man who was referred to by those names by Obama's own party for years. Perhaps Obama is afraid that he will have to face reform in the Senate when McCain and his reformist cabinet move into the Oval Office; provided Obama can even get reelected to the Senate after his failed campaign for president.

John McCain is a cutie who relies on smarmy, scurvy, rhetoric to try to make us think it's all Barack Obama's fault. Hey McCain!!! Do you really think we believe your blatant lying lies?

Barack Obama needs to slam John McCain. Like a roach! Hey Democratic Party! Is there anything about "slam" you don't understand? You need to break John McCain's rhetoric. You need to throw John McCain under the bus. Am I being clear enough, Barack?

McCain is like that roach in your kitchen that you smack, but who still insists on crawling into a safe corner. Barack!!! Don't be so righteous, dammit! He said that the "other side" was the enemy, that all Senators were dispised and unAmerican (he included John McCain in that group) and that only Palin was a true American. 1. Our elders have let us down. We're now $9.5 Trillion dollars in debt as a country. Freddie and Fannie have been nationalized, J.P. Morgan sold 10% of their company to the Chinese for $5 Billion dollars, Lehman Brothers is teetering on the brink, and still, there are all kinds of folks who will not give up on this supply-side, voodoo economics. And those same folks tend to support a view of US hegemony which inflames the anger of much of the rest of the world against us.

Obama is not just the best-qualified candidate, he is the ONLY candidate who has a prayer of instrumenting change which will get us back on the right track.

John McCain has served his country well, but we have no obligation to make him Prez just because he'd like to have the job. We need much more substance than he, or his new celebrity sidekick, bring to the table. (894th out of 899 midshipmen may have gotten him to the Senate but it certainly does not indicate adequate acumen to be Prez).

Of course, if your main thing is that you would like plenty of beer and a new truck, and that's all that it takes to keep you happy, then another Repub administration will do just fine. If, on the other hand, you'd like to see the US restored to a position of leadership in the world -- both economic as well as militarily -- the reasoned decision is to vote Obama-Biden.

The other candidates aren't even in the hunt for all around qualifications. Hocky Mom with Lipstick knows a lot about Russia? Why? Because she can see it from an island in Alaska? Don't entertain me with jokes -- that's what Seinfeld, Letterman and Leno do. I'm looking for a qualified person to be my President, not to make me laugh.

Barack Obama fills the bill nicely and anyone who examines his record of achievement -- thoroughly -- will agree.

  1. John McCain's campaign is reversing all the truths about himself and throwing the reversed lie at Senator Obama. Any intelligent person can clearly see what he is doing. By countering the truth and trying to attach the lie to Obama, he hides the truth from the public and practices a most subtle form of prejudice.

There are two groups of people in the United States. Those aware of the unimaginable personal devastation caused by our lack of proper regulation in energy, banking and health care sectors as well as big oil's unprecedented control of our federal government. Then there are those who reduce everything to "I'm doing okay, so the system must work." The former come from all walks of life. They are Democrats, former Republicans (me) and independents. The latter are Republicans who prove on a daily basis that their political thinking stops at “poor people deserve what they get,” not realizing that a rising tide lifts all ships.

Big oil and other lobbyists, who clearly control the McCain campaign, are gambling on the ignorance of the people. Only journalists can put a stop to that ignorance. This is not "whining." This is not idealism. What we are talking about here is simply the truth, the truth about John McCain, his character and his past.

For example, why is no one in the media discussing the truth about him and Vietnam? His entire campaign and political career is based on a cover up that happened 30 years ago. This man's actions in Vietnam defined him as a traitor, not a “war hero.” Why is it so hard to dig up the old material from U.S. News and World Report and other news organizations from before the cover up? This man is running for president on an essentially "I'm a war hero" platform. Why have I yet to read an article entitled "Was there a McCain Cover Up after Vietnam?" This one issue alone could put a stop to his candidacy. There are many other such issues. Journalists have a moral and historical responsibility in this election. It must be fulfilled on an individual basis.

  1. People, please stop acting like sheep and do the fact-checking yourself.

There are a host of websites out there that can provide you with little tidbits like:

--Obama will cut taxes for 95% of Americans. If make over $2 million, McCain thinks you deserve a tax cut.

--Palin campaigned for the Bridge to Nowhere but when it became politicall unpopular, stopped supporting it. She still took the money, though.

They're all here, ready for you to read. Please make a wise choice in November based on facts, not ads that mislead. You owe your children at least that much.

Obama is a liar. And voted against stopping live-birth abortions.
Biden is a liar. And the #3 liberal for decades and voted no to many successful bills.
Palin is a liar. She took as many earmarks as the rest of them.
Politicians are liars. They ALL lie. They ALL tell you what you want to hear.

  1. The only reason McCain became an "honorable" war veteran was because his father and grandfather were both admirals in the Navy and he just happened to be enlisted during the inception of a war. Had they been championship wrestlers, he'd be fighting in a wheelchair match with Lex Lugar right about now.

Notice how he's never called "admiral" either. That's because he just sucks - like "Finished 4th from last in his class at the naval academy and crashed 4 planes during training but his dad and grand dad were bigwigs in the navy so he gets his wings anways and promptly gets shot down (surprise!) and captured in a POW camp"-sucks.

He sold out to the Republicans long ago. He chose a female running mate for a campaign boost, but earlier this year voted against a senate bill seeking equal pay for woman. He claims to be a down-to-earth normal guy, but he's running for PRESIDENT - and he didn't know how many houses he owned.

Time has proven that no matter what John McCain says or does, he's completely full of shit and he isn't going to do a goddamn thing to improve anything, including himself.

His call to young people to the service of America is commendable and inspirational. On the other hand Senator McCain is tough enough to get the job done. You’re a racist if you don’t want the socialist/communist Obama elected but you’re not a sexist if you say Palin is unfit for the VP spot because she is a mother. Obama denigrates the Republicans for negative campaigning but expects everyone to ignore him calling Palin a pig (then lies and say that isn’t what he meant while the looks on the faces in the audience tell the truth). The man has done nothing, seems incapable of doing anything except praising himself, and is in his current position ONLY because of his race and the hypocrats can’t seem to understand why he is slipping in the polls. The answer is plain as day – the man is a stuffed shirt and everyone knows it, it just that the hypocrats don’t like being called on their hypocracy.

I've seen some of McCain's add and most of them have nothing to do with issues, just the same old TV adds Bush used in 2004. Most people don't listen to the adds on TV if they are dull and boring, but throw in some wolves, fear, and cheap shots then there you go. McCain's adds are directed to old Bush voters that got him elected. You would think this wouldn't work, but once they see the adds, their probably saying "That McCain is different and he connects to us. Let's vote for him." Then 4 years from now.... BAM! 1. If Obama is such a great potential leader for this country in order to win my vote he is going to have to come clean himself. He is good at not out right lieing but at the same time he is a master at out right avoiding the truth.

    1. He is an extreme libral politican and is pandering to the middle class and middle American to win this election.

    2. His presidentcy would put a hate filled first lady into office.

    3. He has been part of the liberal and often time corrupt polictical Chicago machine. It maybe possible to avoid corruption of Chicago politics but it would be more than Obama; it would take Jesus Christ himself.

    4. He redefines the truth in order to avoid speak straight talk. Introducing new tax credits for those that do not have any income is not my idea of offering tax breaks for 95% of Americans. It is another way of using the tax code as a wealth transfer to those that have not demonstrated any need.

    5. He has been absent not only in Washington but he weas absent in Illions too. He has not bee a leader but one of pandering to the local politcs of South Chicago. He has been for those less fortunate I suppose at the expense of placing more govement in their lives rather than teaching working skills.

    6. Obama showed not leadership opposing the Iraq war. Opposing the war from the safety of a state senate without consequences or responsibility is not leadership. It is making a very difficult situation and maximizing political gain.

    7. Obama has not written any bills and gotten them passed into law since being in office. Where is his leadership? Where is his experience?

    8. His experience on domestic problems is only focused at how to make more and more people dependent on goverment, or to take the radical angry ideas of extremist and internalilze this as faith.

    9. If Obama gets elected what you'll see is a very angry African American first lady ready to settle the score with those that held her back in believing in her country, and you will have a president what campaigned to the middle class shift policy to the liberal weath transfer to those that are not in need.

****WHEN THE US INNOCENT WERE ABANDONED BY THE GUILTY ****
The prison experts have reported that there are 100,000 innocent Americans currently being falsely imprisoned along with the 2,300,000 total US prison population nationwide.
Since our US Congress has never afforded poor prison inmates federal appeal legal counsel for their federal retrials, they have effectively closed the doors on these tens of thousands of innocent citizens ever being capable of possibly exonerating themselves to regain their freedom through being granted new retrials.

This same exact unjust situation was happening in our Southern States when poor and mostly uneducated Black Americans were being falsely imprisoned for endless decades without the needed educational skills to properly submit their own written federal trial appeals.

**INNOCENT AMERICANS ARE DENIED REAL HC RIGHTS WITH THEIR FEDERAL APPEALS !!
This devious and deceptive judicial process of making our poor and innocent prison inmates formulate and write their own federal appeal legal cases for possible retrials on their state criminal cases,is still in effect today even though everyone in our US judicial system knows that without proper legal representation, these tens of thousands of innocent prison inmates will be denied their rightful opportunities of ever being granted new trials from our federal appeal judges!!

Sadly, the true US *legal* Federal Appeal situation that occurs when any of our uneducated American prison inmates are forced to attempt to submit their own written Federal Appeals (from our prisons nationwide) without the assistance of proper legal counsel, is that they all are in reality being denied their legitimate rights for Habeas Corpus and will win any future Supreme Court Case concerning this injustice!

For our judicial system and our US Congressional Leaders Of The Free World to continue to pretend that this is a real and fair opportunity for our American Middle Class and Working Poor Citizens, only delays the very needed future change of Federal Financing of all these Federal appeals becoming a normal formula of Our American judicial system.

It was not so very long ago that Public Defenders became a Reality in this country.Prior that legal reality taking place, their were also some who thought giving anyone charged with a crime a free lawyer was a waste of taxpayers $$.

This FACADE and HORROR of our Federal Appeal proce$$ is not worthy of the Greatest Country In The World!

  1. Let us be honest. John McCain is no hero. When a Prisoner he did propaganda for the communist. When a Senator he hugged his jailor who visited the US ignoring the FACT this jailor had personally executed US POWs for noncooperation. Also, when Senator he did all in his power to make sure MIAs in Vietnam were forgotten and not even looked for although there was evidence some were still alive at the time. Is this a hero?

As for Palin, Anne Kilkenny says it best:
"Sarah campaigned in Wasilla as a “fiscal conservative”. During her 6
years as Mayor, she increased general government expenditures by over
33%. During those same 6 years the amount of taxes collected by the
City increased by 38%. This was during a period of low inflation
(1996-2002). She reduced progressive property taxes and increased a
regressive sales tax which taxed even food. The tax cuts that she
promoted benefited large corporate property owners way more than they
    benefited residents.

The huge increases in tax revenues during her mayoral administration
weren’t enough to fund everything on her wish list though, borrowed
money was needed, too. She inherited a city with zero debt, but left it
with indebtedness of over $22 million.

    What did Mayor Palin encourage
the voters to borrow money for? Was it the infrastructure that she said
she supported? The sewage treatment plant that the city lacked? or a
new library? No. $1m for a park. $15m-plus for construction of a
multi-use sports complex which she rushed through to build on a piece
of property that the City didn’t even have clear title to, that was
still in litigation 7 yrs later–to the delight of the lawyers
involved! The sports complex itself is a nice addition to the
community but a huge money pit, not the profit-generator she claimed it
would be. She also supported bonds for $5.5m for road projects that
could have been done in 5-7 yrs without any borrowing.

"She’s not very tolerant of divergent opinions or open to outside ideas
or compromise. As Mayor, she fought ideas that weren’t generated by
her or her staff. Ideas weren’t evaluated on their merits, but on the
    basis of who proposed them.

"Sarah complained about the “old boy’s club” when she first ran for
Mayor, so what did she bring Wasilla? A new set of “old boys”. Palin
fired most of the experienced staff she inherited. At the City and as
Governor she hired or elevated new, inexperienced, obscure people,
creating a staff totally dependent on her for their jobs and eternally
grateful and fiercely loyal–loyal to the point of abusing their power
to further her personal agenda, as she has acknowledged happened in the
case of pressuring the State’s top cop (see below)."

    Need more be said?

Command Experience? What is that supposed to mean. McCain goes around like General Grant talking as if he commanded armies. There were only 4 presidents with that kind of experience: Washington, Jackson, Grant, and Eisenhower. Does anyone believe pencil pushing MIA hating McShame or Palin commanded anything? Is anyone that blind?

Real war heroes don't talk about the war - fakes never shut up. McCain cannot seem to stop talking - if he was a real hero he would be quite.

  1. Obama is the one we need to lead us out of these insane Bush years. Voting for McCain would equal voting for more of Bush. When you listen to either McCain or Palin, there are never any new ideas, just attacks. They've got NOTHING to offer the American people. McCain is way out of touch with real Americans. He seems to be on the verge of Alzheimer's, if he's not there already. He doesn't seem to be able to keep facts straight about anything, just like he can't remember how many houses he and his wife own. And Palin just seems to be a real creepy female version of Cheney, and we can see how great that's worked out for this country. Palin seems to have a real problem with anyone that disagrees with her on ANYTHING, and she's already having her way with the media (just like Bush): don't ask me any REAL questions or I'll go into seclusion again. Obama has taken everything they've thrown at him with grace and has never whined and complained about it, like the Republicans are doing now if Palin gets asked anything except the softest of questions. Obama/Biden '08!!

  1. Posted by McBain September 12, 08 05:12 PM "McCain's dishonesty is worse than Bush's. Just today he claimed Palin never requested earmarks for Alaska. The mind reels."

Actually, I am worried about his mind, not mine. He either can't remember facts or he is not apprised of them. Either way, its a big problem. Worse, he might be lying.

  1. Hey everyone. let's deal with facts.

If any of you want the facts about what both candidate say (including both Obama's ads and McCain's ads) I suggest everyone visit www.factcheck.org.

It's a nonpartisan Web site that explains the facts or lies behind what each candidate says.

Stop listening to the spin docotrs on both sides and educate yourself.

  1. I make about 3 TIMES what I made 8 years ago. Yes, I am better off. Many folks I know are better off. I do not blame my government when I was out of work. I do not credit my government when I do well. I want more of my money back so I can inject it into the economy. Democrats tend to blame government for their own bad decisions or bad luck in life. Blame no one but yourselves and only you have the power to succeed. Education and hard work is the key. Hanging out on the corner and not taking school seriously means you are destined for failure. Blame yourself. Or congratulate yourself. You, not the governement is the key.

Obama has other thoughts. He does not think about working middle and upper middle class people or the wealthy who have worked hard. They mostly will not vote for him. He wants a re-distribution of wealth. They call that SOCIALISM my friends. Put down the Kool-Aid and remember suburban voters that this is America. Not a Socialist state. Vote McCain/Palin. Put America First.

  1. I just saw Obama in Concord, NH. He does not make up stuff about McCain. He doesn't have to. He just quotes him. It's devastating stuff. You don't have to be an Obama fan. All you have to do is listen to McCain and realize how out-of-it he is.

She's the subject of a Federal investigation for abuse of power, and also implicated in the investigation underway in the Ted Stevens scandal. This lady seems to have come with a whole lot of skeletons in her closet, but yet has the nerve to complain because the press want to ask her questions. Obama has taken everything they've thrown at him with grace and has never whined and complained about it, like the Republicans are doing now. Obama/Biden '08 for the change we need!!

  1. Most voters are getting tired of being fool by this magic word CHANGE.Come on folks who in the world believe this theme anymore it is just to get votes and thats all it is to it.Change what, the existing white house building or the people this is getting to the point of silliness.Yeah as if Joe Biden hasn't been there for over thirty eight years,do the Obama campaign think voters are that stupid. The truth is the only way to seriously CHANGE and REFORM our system of government is to have a referrandum and put it on the ballot for the general election.Voting a party president to be Mr Change doesn't go along with what a President should and suppose to be.In other words he is elect to do the CHANGE tasks inside Washington GOD KNOWS HOW LONG THAT WILL TAKE and ignore the main concerns of the public such as Security, economy, health, jobs, education and the variety of issues that requires a great deal of the Presidents time to do something about these concerns. So the point is I don't see how he seriously change Washington and deal with issues at the same time.I think this is all fluke to get people vote for him(Obama).

  1. 'Nobody want McCain as president, not the American people and not the world. It is time for the republican party to be dimantled and put out to pasture.'

Who elected you the spokesperson of the world? Anyone who actually did a little digging and made their own informed decision (not the one pushed by the obviously biased left media) would see the real Obama...the one who can't make a decision and stick with it (check his voting record since joining the Senate); the one who has changed his opinion on foreign and education policies, which oddly, now mirrors those thoughts of the Republican party; and the one who shouts 'change is needed' - yet has never once discussed how he will actually do this.

    GO MCCAIN!

    What President? John F. Kennedy
Would Barack H. Obama speak those words or similar words?
Would John S. McCain speak those words or similar words?

My Fellow Americans, you know the answer.
America is the greatest country on Earth.
    COUNTRY FIRST.

  1. To everyone complaining about our economy - DO SOME RESEARCH!
The economy is UP 20% under the Bush Administration compared to when Clinton was in office.

Yes we are in defiicit, but we are at war - what do you expect? Do we not all remember what happened on Sept 11? Are we supposed to just sit back, forget and not finish what we started?

I, for one, am far better off than I was 8 years ago...go figure, I work hard and live within my means and don't look for others to bail me out for my own stupidity.

Different politics, why did he dispatch so many people to dig up mud on Palin in Alaska, definitely the last act of a scoundrel.

He got away with it by doing it to Ryan when Obama was losing the Illinois senator race by plotting to get Ryan's divorce records released once he knew the content. Then he tried to play I don't think it is right, but the cat was already out of the bag. He is not

  1. Obama is not smart after all. If he really wants to make history and become the first black US president he has still 50 days to change his mind and make Hillary his running mate. Biden is an honorable man and has some accomplishments but his electability score is zero! Biden will drag Obama down to the cellar! Hillary is the only one who can play as a fairy God mother who has the magic wand and can turn the White House into a Black House in Obama's favor.

  1. One thing any scientist can tell you is that even well-intentioned, well-planned attempts to fix a situation through change can go awry. Look at humans throughout medical and environmental history, for instance.
I haven't heard anyone acknowledge the fact that change is just as likely to go in a negative as in a positive direction. And most change has an assortment of each; one has to know and carefully weigh the side effects before making an informed choice.
The less information the person in charge has, the more likely change will go in an unintended direction.
Yes, Palin being "one-heartbeat away from the Presidency" is a huge concern. But Obama being “zero heartbeats away from the Presidency” has decided me in this election.
The media is a perfect example of my point. They orchestrated the primaries to sweep a good man with a handsome image past Hillary, but were too caught up in the moment to use their brain about his shockingly empty portfolio (how far would a white male 48-year old with the same qualifications have gotten?) Now, as the media shines the spotlight on Palin's inexperience, the beam is unintentionally reflecting back onto Obama's lack of qualification… exposing the reality that the liberal media is going to go down in history as having won the 2008 election for the Republicans, by eliminating the candidate who had the best chance to win.
Wish the media would realize that, as we tell our kids, that there is no right way to do the wrong thing.

  1. I knew going into this election that McCain was incompetent on economic issues and he even admitted but said I have greenspan's book like that is supposed to provide us some comfort. I don't know how to run a nuclear reactor but I have some books on it. Now Sarah Palin admitted and I quote "I had not been keeping up with event in Iraq"

    Ok...

I'm no rocket scientist but President McCain would be clueless on economics and Vice President Palin is clueless on Iraq. These are only the two biggest issues of the election. I am not trying to be partisan but why would I vote for a ticket that admits they are lacking in the two biggest issues of this election?

I cannot take 4 more years of incompetence and I certainly do not want 4 more years of Bush policy.

  1. I had hopes for McCain. He once did what he thought was right, and if it ticked off his own GOP - oh well. But he's turned in his "Maverick" cap for a "I'll kiss right wing zealot butts for a vote" cap. And he brought an unqualified woman to the ticket just because she is strongly conservative right wing.

He's a puppet of the political machine now. Maverick is history. He SOLD OUT his values for votes. He panders to the very people he didn't care about before. I can't respect that.

I simply can't afford 4 more years of Republican "leadership".

  1. I was at the Manchester rally today. It was a wonderful experience, the park was jam-packed with people who really love their country. I was struck by the absence of "personal attacks" on McCain. He only (rightly) attacked the lies that McCain's lobbyist-driven campaign is trying to propagate. Tucker Bounds is an incompetent, ignorant mouthpiece who peddles hateful propaganda. He has no constructive thoughts to offer, so he projects his own corrupt, dirty impulses onto Obama. He is a blatant opportunist who would sell his own mother if it would advance his cause. (Exhibit A: the 'hookers and blow' party the GOP threw on the first day of the RNC, during the height of Hurricane Gustav). I'm disgusted by McCain's dirty smear campaign. I supported him in 2000, but he's really sold his honor to the highest bidder--the lobbyists and the super right-wingers of the GOP. Obama is trying to get us to shed our cynicism, embrace our most noble qualities of service and humility, and work together to solve our collective problems. He's pledging tax cuts to 95% of working American families, and a rational healthcare policy. McCain and his campaign is instead asking us to embrace our most dirty, racist, hateful, and ignorant tendencies, and to stop thinking about ways we might actually develop solutions to our problems. While his wife wears a $300,000 outfit to the RNC, he would allow millions of people to entirely lose their healthcare benefits under his plan. He and his minions will rape America for profit, just as Bush/Cheney/Rove did, and stick the rest of us with the bill. It's really striking how the McCain supporters who comment on this site and others whip out racist and ad hominem attacks at will and regurgitate Republican propaganda fed them by the >160 lobbyists on the McCain campaign payroll because they are unable to defend McCain's vacuous policies like rational adults. With the economy collapsing, over 40 million Americans lacking health insurance, and two foreign wars that are draining our pockets and our credibility, is this really what we need?

  1. If Obama wants to come back in 2012 or 2016 he has to start building credibility right now. He is no Kennedy nor Reagan, although he is trying to appear as both. He has a stong desire but not strong will. He relied on gimmick tactics but offered no real strategy. In summary he needs experiences and after losing this election , he would understand that talking alone will not convince Americans.

  1. OBAMA = BETRAYAL
Obama supporters are foolish to think that he will never betray them.
Obama was a close friend of Pastor Wright for TWENTY YEARS.
Obama threw Wright under the bus for personal ambition.
McCain would not betray his country even after 5 years of torture.
You can put lipstick on a traitor, but he's still a traitor.
