Ad: thanks Republicans! (not really)

Posted by Foon Rhee, deputy national political editor September 1, 2008 08:43 PM

A self-described progressive advocacy group is putting a sarcastic ad in the hotel rooms of Republican National Committee delegates "thanking" them for skyrocketing gas prices, soaring home foreclosures, and the bungled response to Hurricane Katrina.

"To the conservatives gathered in St. Paul, thanks for the memories," it says on the screen. Then, as a female singer croons "Thanks for the Memories," scenes appear of New Orleans flooding, a gas pump, a foreclosure sign, and the "Mission Accomplished" banner on the aircraft carrier.

“You’ve done a heckuva job!” the ad says on screen. "We'll take it from here."

The Campaign for America's Future said today it is buying the ad, called “Thanks For The Memories,” in 365,000 hotel rooms across the country this week.

  1. Traditional family values at its best, god dam sex ed. It'll be nice watching how the christian right (small c since they are not real Christians) rallies around her, yet if this was the daughter of a liberal she'd be labeled a whore.

  1. Communist Mike, have you no shame? I bet you don't even have a girlfriend! Your day WILL come--when you will be truly on fire! Your comment illustrates your ability to think, listen, hear, reason...NOT!--typical liberal demoncrat. Did you get your welfare check before the hurricane hit?

  1. " Oh liberals! what a sad day for you whining and complaining about Sarah Palins 17teen year old daughter and pregnant.God bless her soul she is expecting a baby what a precious gift of life through her and she is not alone. It is a blessing to have a baby and may I remind that's not ours to judge but God the creator of life himself. It only solidify the notion of how strong Governor Palin is in handling her career and her family at the same time in addition a Vice President pick for the Republican ticket, wow that's incredible. Now is any liberal person in his own thinking look at that and said she is still not qualify I doubt it because such a woman like Sarah Palin is super strong and intelligent and as a man I admire and look up to a woman like her as an example for younger girls and daughters of this country.Of course none and I repeat that none is perfect among us but what counts is a leader with a proven records of success and political strength like Palin to step in the leadership role without any doubt of her abilities and capabilities to lead right away.

  1. Parents, Lib or Repub are not able to monitor there childrens actions. Now, as adults Mike, we know that when we were 17, our parents didn't know everything we did and we both know that if they did they would be pissed. The Governors daughter got pregnant. It's not like it hasn't happened to others running for office.
How about everyone leave this kid alone and let her have her child in peace and without all the bs people want to spew about it...
