Debates on demand

Posted by Joanna Weiss September 26, 2008 03:00 PM

Given the high TV ratings for the political conventions -- and the fact that, according to Nielsen ratings, nearly 53 million people tuned into President Bush's national address on the economy on Wednesday -- viewership for tonight's presidential debate should be high. But Comcast is offering an alternative to its digital subscribers who have Friday night dinner plans. Today, Comcast announced that, in conjunction with WGBH, it will post tonight's debate for free on its On Demand menu tomorrow morning, and keep it up until election day. Next week's vice-presidential debate and the next two presidential debates will also go up on demand. Debates will appear in the "Get Local" menu, under "Local Networks," "WGBH," and "Vote '08."

  1. With all the competent women available, John McCain chose someone as a running mate who thinks Putin is hovering over Alaskan air space or some such nonsense when he "rears his head" and, I guess, goes for a spin.

Sarah Palin's candidacy for vice president is a mockery of women. It's beyond insulting. It's not that we can't weather this, but it shows us how little John McCain thinks of women.

  1. Educatedwoman

Alaska and Russia are so close that Russia is visible as one takes off from Alaska by air. (Since you are a lib and you will dissect this and "by air" may be nubulous to you since you are a myopic lib and you think nobody can figure anything ou except you..........the words "by air" mean IN AN AIRPLANE.)

Further-there are territorial laws that Alaska and Russia are both subject to and I understand that at times there have been issues the Alaskan Governor has had to address as regards these laws.

Sounds like you are the incompetent one.....not Sarah Palin. You don't seem to know the importance of international territorial law, you don't know that Putin doesn't seem too friendly to the US these days, and you really sound like you need an aspirin......childsize.............so as not to offend your "nuanced" sensibilities.

Since you are so arrogrant as to think you know more about Putin than any of the rest of us, why are YOU runniing for VP.......huh?

  1. Sarah Palin makes the women I know proud. Since I am in education, most have their BA, some have a Masters degree, and several have their Doctorate. So much for your educated woman point. She is accomplished, skilled, and a mother five times. I doubt you know anyone like her. Your loss!

  1. I am a highly educated woman and I am not offended by Sarah Palin in the least. It's funny, I've been in her shoes. There are always people like you, "educatedwoman", who think they know more than they do. Those who become jealous when others rise to the top. Here is your problem. You have a weak mind, and possibly no conviction. Those of you who complain, I would love to see you try to make it in another country for even one day. John McCain has more respect for women than Barack OBama. It takes a great deal of gutts and tenacity to get where John McCain and Sarah Palin are. You need help.

  1. I don't know who the yahoo was that wrote the article about Palin, but obviously the editor didn't go over it before it published.

  1. I am so dissapointed, for everyone of you that keeps defending these woman blindly, makes me want to believe that it is true that sometimes our DNA influence us in the way we vote, thanks to our republican parents that only view things from what we are being fed by talk radio,I for one will be voting issues concerning my well being and the well being of the USA, not talking points.what she said about Russian is indefensible and really unspinnable.
    God Bless America

  1. Educatedwoman said nothing different than the way the major news networks are reporting this; not to mention the concerns that many members of her own party now have after her interviews. She appears likeable as a person, however it becomes increasingly more clear each day that she is no way near ready, nor qualified, to be leader of our country. In fact, that would be quite scary.
