Debates on demand
Given the high TV ratings for the political conventions -- and the fact that, according to Nielsen ratings, nearly 53 million people tuned into President Bush's national address on the economy on Wednesday -- viewership for tonight's presidential debate should be high. But Comcast is offering an alternative to its digital subscribers who have Friday night dinner plans. Today, Comcast announced that, in conjunction with WGBH, it will post tonight's debate for free on its On Demand menu tomorrow morning, and keep it up until election day. Next week's vice-presidential debate and the next two presidential debates will also go up on demand. Debates will appear in the "Get Local" menu, under "Local Networks," "WGBH," and "Vote '08."
