About the only group with lower approval ratings than President Bush is Congress.

So the latest spot from the Republican National Committee tries to link Democrat Barack Obama to his party's congressional leaders and warns about out-of-control spending.

"Take away the crowds, the chants, all that's left are costly words," the announcer says.

Then, as images of Democrats in Congress appear, the announcer says, "Barack Obama and out-of-touch congressional leaders have expensive plans, billions in new government spending, years of deficits, no balanced budgets, and painful tax increases on working American families."

"They're ready to tax, ready to spend, but not ready to lead," the announcer concludes.

Meanwhile, Obama's campaign just released an ad that seeks to tie McCain firmly to the president.

"They share the same out of touch attitude," the announcer says as a series of images appear on screen of McCain and Bush together. "The same failure to understand the economy. The same tax cuts for huge corporations and the wealthiest one percent. The same questionable ties to lobbyists. The same plan to spend $10 billion a month in Iraq when we should be rebuilding America."

The ad then shows McCain saying, "I voted with the president over 90 percent of the time, higher than a lot of my even Republican colleagues."

"We just can’t afford more of the same," the announcer concludes.
