John Edwards has cancelled his Sept. 23 appearance at Salem State College with his wife Elizabeth, college officials announced today.

"They have chosen to cancel their appearance," said Karen Cady, a spokesperson for Salem State. "We are actively pursing an alternate for the same date or some time later this fall."

The school was notified by The Harry Walker Agency, Inc., which bills itself as the world's leading booking agent for exclusive speakers. The event at Salem State had been dubbed a "conversation with John and Elizabeth Edwards."

Edwards, easing his way back into the public eye after admitting to an extramarital affair, has confirmed plans to speak without his wife at Hoftsra University in New York on Sept. 8.

  1. John Edwards political career is toast!! Say adios to your Great Populist!!

John can now kick back and spend the rest of his days in his multi-million $$$ palatial home that he "earned" while an ambulance chasing lawyer.

For all the liberal writers on this web site thinking they're so high and mighty going after a 17 yr old's pregnancy, start looking in the mirror. You steared clear of any commentary about the great populist figuring the news would just "go away". You don't care one iota that a man cheated on his wife while she was undergoing chemo as that's a "man's right" to do that. Besides, who's he hurting? Besides, it's got nothing to do with his qualifications to run for presidency. Besides, Teddy K. did it so that's ok.

What a bunch of hypocrites we have in the Boston area!!

  1. Does anyone know the current health condition of Elizabeth Edwards?
I'm afraid she is getting worst not better.

  1. The FOX news segment that just aired at 22:15 featured a statement from Salem State saying that the series has experienced cancellations in the past. I am sure , however , that they have not experienced men who were cheating on their cancer-striken wives. Basta.
