Giuliani rips Obama
Rudy Giuliani offered up lots of political red meat to Republican delegates tonight, effusively praising John McCain and portraying Democrat Barack Obama as a wishy-washy celebrity politician.
The former New York mayor cast the election as the turning point -- and the people of America will decide, not the "left-wing media" or "Hollywood celebrities."
Giuliani said voters have a hiring decision to make.
One choice is a man who has been tested by crisis and dedicated his life to service. "America comes first" for McCain, he said. "He has proved his commitment with his blood."
The other choice, Obama, is a "gifted man with an Ivy League education" who immersed himself in "Chicago machine politics," who voted "present" in the Illinois legislature instead of making decisions, and then became a "celebrity" US senator.
"His rise is remarkable in its own right, it's the kind of thing that could only happen in America," Giuliani said.
But Obama is the least ready candidate for president in at least 100 years, he said. "Barack Obama has never led anything -- nothing, nada."
Giuliani also cast Obama as unprincipled, who changes his positions for political gain, while McCain supported the Iraq troop surge despite the political risk.
"Obama was going to take public financing for his campaign, until he didn't," the former mayor said. "Obama was against wiretapping before he voted for it. When speaking to a pro-Israel group, Obama favored an undivided Jerusalem. Until the very next day when he changed his mind.
"I got to tell you, if I were Joe Biden, I would get that VP thing in writing," Giuliani needled.
Giuliani also gave an impassioned defense of McCain's running mate Sarah Palin, highlighting her reformist record.
Partnered with McCain, they will shake up Washington. "Look out, look out!" Giuliani shouted.

Rudy is a bully, playing the lowest common denominator. This whole convention seems like a repeat of 2004.
Sure, thats why he was against the war before anyone else. I'm sure that was for political gain, right???
This old bald-headed dude is all verbal diarrhea! He would be better of being in some desert herding goats and mogoose.
The RNC has been filled with great speeches. The United States has never been more divided but after this convention it will be even more. Rudy simply blasted Obama and praised McCain. I have been waiting for examples of what the Republican party is planning to do in this time of crisis to help right the ship...I have yet to hear any concrete examples of what they are planning to do to help shape the future of this country. The wit of the GOP speakers has amazed me and helped me decide that I too should vote for a Maverick Duo like McCain and Palin.
Long Live the GOP!
Go On Paranoia
that was just about the ugliest speech I've ever heard. And the ugliness was delivered with such relish. Yuck, what a creep. Contrast that with the uplift of Obama, and I'll take Obama any day.
Giuliani just referred to SENATOR Palin. Even he doesn't know who the heck she is.
This is a man who took advantage of the tragedy of 9/11 to try to further his political carrier and failed. He poor strategy comparable to his poor choice of words to mock Obama got him the bottom 5% of the primary votes. The no experience guy is still standing and will endure. Take your time. Comes January you will have to salut President Obama.
Obama/ Biden 08
This man who claims to be an executive for the largest city in the country has proven the following:1. $50.million to get one delegate for a presidential nomination is proof that you are qualified to lead this country. 2.good judgement is not knowing who is the right wife for you.3. George Bush is the best for this Country. and 4. The police chief of the largest City can become Homeland Security Chief despite being corrupt, That is the type of judgement that promotes sarah palin for Vice POTUS
"Giuliani also cast Obama as unprincipled, who changes his positions for political gain..."
This, coming from Guiliani? hahaha...wow...no no no...I'm sure no Republican EVER changed their mind on any position for political gain?
I would go so far as to say that almost all American politicians blatantly hypocritical and overly panderous. What irks me the most is that the public eats it all up...
The differences between the DNC and RNC could not be more stark. I have never seen so many white people in one place. It's clear that the Republican tent is really, really small.
The Republicans came across as mean-spirited, small-minded and ignorant this evening, and I was ashamed. John McCain has lost my support forever.
stop the bashing
The Republicans showed their true colors.... Division, division, breaks for the people at the top. What about health care, etc etc. They are out of touch.
All they know is....
drill
drill
drill
GIULIANI YOU DONT KNOW NOTHING ABOUT NOWDAYS
OR UNLESS ABOUT POLITICAL, REMEMBER SEPTEMBER ELEVEN
YOU WERE THE MAYOR IN NEW YORK AND WHAT HAPPENED
ALL THE ITALIANS ARE THE SAME RUBBISH, IM NOT RACISTA BUT
YOU, YOU ARE A COMPETLY ANARQUISTA
LETS THE MAN WORKING.......
McCain and his cronies-All I heard is bashing-bashing-bashing. Thanks for helping so many undecided people make up our undecided minds. Our votes will now fall to Obama. Again thanks for all your rich white trash talk, it worked wonders. I never have seen such an old, rich, and obivious by the color of the crowd racist. Very few BLACKS, MEXICANS, ASIANS.
Wow -- if you Rudy bashers actually reside in Boston, I'll cancel my travel plans! Seriously, why does the left need to tax tax tax? Is it so the "less fortunate" can relax relax relax?
As an independent, I've examined both sets of candidates and must admit its too close to call. I'll wait until the debates to make my final decision.
But one thing that strikes me about the Dems is the serious liberal/socialist slant. I cannot stand the thought of my taxes going any higher (I already pay 50%) to support the welfare-cheatin' lazy deadbeats in this country. Enough already!!!
Rudy Guiliani is a pompous mean-spirited wind bag. The GOP should be ashamed. He was his own best audience tonight!
Thank goodness you loony lefties don't live in my state.
Tsk, Tsk Rudy. The only reason you are up there speaking at the RNC is because of 911 and how you became a glory hog and used the deaths of almost 3000 Americans so you can toot your own hero horn . You should thank Osama Bin Laden (he's still alive, thank to W, so you still have a chance) for enabling you to bask in the spotlight. Shame. After seeing through the veil, the delegates and voters in Florida knew better than to vote you into office. There's a thing called honor and credibility...something you know nothing of and something you will never have.
this from Rudy the great "executive" who spent $30M getting one delegate.
The difference between the DNC and the RNC is Obama does not have to belittle John McCain and Palin. They do a good job looking bad all by there selfs. What a couple of losers!!!! The people in the Republican convention look like a bunch of mutins not knowing whats up or down.
What was really missing from these speeches is what does McCain do to support the troops or wounded veterans. Enough about how he is an American hero, what about every one of Americas soldiers and veterans.
Actions show more than words how patriotic we truly are, how we stand up for veterans and give respect all the soldiers and veterans, they are the true American heroes:
McCain voted AGAINST the Webb G.I. Bill. Obama voted FOR the bill. 5/2008
McCain voted AGAINST bill to minimize periods of time between deployments of units sent to Iraq. Obama voted FOR the bill. 9/2007
McCain voted AGAINST $430,000,000 to VA for Medical Services. Obama voted FOR the bill. 4/2006
McCain voted to TABLE an amendment for $322,000,000 for safety equipment for US forces. "Table" means the vote never hits the floor. 10/2003
The Disabled American Veterans released a staggering statistic that Sen. McCain has only voted in their best interest 20% of the time. The Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America gave him a D+ rating on his voting record. Barack Obama received a B+ from the same group (Jul 2007)
McCain’s lasted idea:VA Cards, would serve as a voucher to receive care at private, for-profit hospitals. He is seeking to cut off the universal health care that the government has guaranteed to veterans for generations. He states that he wants to "relieve the burden on the VA from routine health care" so that the attention will be refocused to the "grievous wounds of war." The National Director of the VFW has been quoted as saying that this VA Card would "undermine the entire system."
We already failed so many veterans of the Vietnam War, now we are repeating the same mistakes, of all people I would think that McCain being a POW would put our true heroes, America’s soldiers and veterans issues as priority. One of every three homeless people is a US veteran. Iraq War soldiers are coming home with the signature wound of this war ‘traumatic brain injuries’, in addition to missing limbs, burns, and ptsd in staggering numbers. I am voting for Obama- Biden.
a noun, a verb, and 9/11.
the republicans are toast.
A friend of my with a wife and 3 children who had worked for a company for over 20 years decided to quit his job when his company transferred to Boston. I don't blame him as I would not want to live around all the ultra liberal nuts.
Tonight Palim made one of the greatest political speeches in recent history. She's smart, intelligent, a quick learner, honorable, patriotic, and is not bogged down with the arrogance and ego of Obama and Biden. She will make a wonderful V.P. and one day a great President. Are your comments so nasty because you are jealous that the Republicans have a great WOMAN on their ticket and you are stuck with the two liars?
Isn't is hard to keep claiming the moral high ground while you constantly find yourself in the gutter?
These Republicians were just saddening tonight.
Terrifying... but sad.
In November let's take back what makes AMERICA great.
So there were a few well aimed shots in there. At least they were directed at Obama and not his daughters.
(BTW, I don't blame Obama personally for "Preggers-gate" -- that honor goes to:
1) DailyKos and MoveOn (creation)
2) The liberal activist mainstream media echo chamber (pepetuation means)
3) Anyone who clicks on a web link about the story. (perpetuation incentive) )
I watched both the DNC and RNC. So far, the RNC is all about negative...chants of Zero, Zero, Zero. Every major speech Republican speech tonight spent a majority of time with pounding themes against the democratic candidates. I heard nothing about proposed domestic policy, foreign policy issues that need to be addressed, or any hard details about energy other than Drill, Drill, Drill.
Palin's newborn son was passed like a political potato from pregnant Bristol to Cindy McCain to Trig(First Dude) to the youngest Palin girl, who greased down his hair with spit. I saw a big party of old, overweight white people who applauded, cheered, and jeered precisely on cue. It was sickening. People in the USA are more diverse and smarter than that. Zealous mindless party support was apparent
Where's all this hatred that most of you put in your comments come from? You should all be required to put the following bumper sticker on your car:
"Hatred is not a Family Value".
Rudy Giuliani was outstanding thums up to him !
I 'M DISAPOINTED WITH THE REPUBLICAN!NO CLASS!! JUST THINKING ABOUT THEM ONLY THEMSELVES!
i WILL MAKE SURE THAT EVERY ONE I KNOW DO NOT VOTE FOR MC CAINE OR MAC CANNE!!!AH AH

And all I saw at the DNC was the exact opposite. Their expectation is to tax rich Whitey to death (and even when dead) to pay for all of the Democratic Entitlement Programs for minorities. There is no room for Whitey (so says Obama in his memoirs) in that party. The Bradley Effect will be astounding in this election! You know it, I know it, we all know it but are afraid to say it.
Go ahead, vote for your Obamessiah who attended a black liberation church for 20 YEARS and chanted "goddamn Amerikkka" along with his preacher.
