Kennedy hospitalized

US Senator Edward M. Kennedy, weeks after undergoing chemotherapy treatment for a malignant brain tumor, was rushed to Cape Cod Hospital late this afternoon after complaining of feeling ill.
Barnstable police Sgt. Ben Baxter said emergency authorities received a call at 5:12 p.m. from the Kennedy compound in Hyannis Port. He was alert and conscious, Baxter said.
Kennedy's office issued a brief statement tonight: “Senator Kennedy experienced a mild seizure at home in Hyannis Port today and was taken to Cape Cod Hospital for examination. Doctors believe the incident was triggered by a change in medication. Senator Kennedy will return home tonight and looks forward to watching the debate.”
Kennedy, 76 has been more visible recently after undergoing six weeks of chemotherapy and radiation treatment. On Tuesday, he received a visit and a civilian award from Chile's president for his support of the country during turmoil in 1973 and his work to cut off military aid to dictator Augusto Pinochet.
He made a grand, poignant public appearance last month at the Democratic National Convention in Denver.
Kennedy was diagnosed with having a brain tumor in May after a seizure at his home.
