McCain acceptance speech
John McCain's campaign just released limited excerpts of his acceptance speech tonight.
"I’m very proud to have introduced our next Vice President to the country. But I can’t wait until I introduce her to Washington. And let me offer an advance warning to the old, big spending, do nothing, me first, country second Washington crowd: change is coming."
"The constant partisan rancor that stops us from solving these problems isn’t a cause, it’s a symptom. It’s what happens when people go to Washington to work for themselves and not you. Again and again, I’ve worked with members of both parties to fix problems that need to be fixed. That’s how I will govern as President. I will reach out my hand to anyone to help me get this country moving again. I have that record and the scars to prove it. Senator Obama does not."
"I fell in love with my country when I was a prisoner in someone else’s. I loved it not just for the many comforts of life here. I loved it for its decency; for its faith in the wisdom, justice and goodness of its people. I loved it because it was not just a place, but an idea, a cause worth fighting for. I was never the same again. I wasn’t my own man anymore. I was my country’s.”

He didn't love his country until he was a POW? And they dare go after Michelle Obama's comment? What rank hypocrisy.
McCain was a crappy pilot, only getting a seat because his father and grandfather were admirals. He graduated fifth from the bottom of his class, and should never have been trusted with a plane. His ineptness led to his imprisonment, and though his wife waited patiently for to come home, he cheated on her soon after he returned. He ditched her for a young beauty queen, and used her inherited wealth to fund his run for office. What a scumbag.
...And Joe Leiberman is the ultimate turncoat. He's just pissed because he thought he was "entitled" to his senate seat in Connecticut, and he spent no time running for it. When the Dems backed a better candidate and Joe lost the primary, he turned "independent", but supposedly still loyal to the Democratic Party. Instead, he regularly turns up as an agente provocateur of the GOP, pushing the Christian Fundamentalist/Israel-Is-Never-Wrong Agenda.
My Dad called is right many years ago - "Show me who you're with, and I'll tell you who you are." I hope that Connecticut readers are paying close attention.
Does KKKarl Rove get credit for writing this speech?
You typical Massachusetts moonbat liberals make me sick. The Republican party is the last hope all good, patriotic Americans have, The Dems offer nothing but bigger government and control of your lives (see Massachusetts AKA the "nanny state"). Liberalism is the downfall of this great country, now go back to praying at the alter of Nobama.
McCain killed people for a country he didn't love.
Move to a communist country Mcbain, by reading your posts I think you would love it.
Yes, I am a proud MOONBAT, LIBERAL, (fill in your favorite dittohead perjorative label here) who embraces LIBERAL, WORKING CLASS VALUES and does not genuflect at the fundamentalist altar of Ralph Reed, Pat Robertson or Ayman Al-Zawahiri. I am the proud son of a union steelworker and the grandson of a Teamster.
Yes, I voted for Ronald Reagan - because he was just like Obama - he had a vision that lifted us up. The BUSH MCCAIN vision gives us another 4 years of the same negative, divisive empty rhetoric which you have learned so well. If you think you're doing so well with the Republicans, you're either deluding yourself, or you're one of those CEO that;'s pulling down $20,000,000 while the rest of us pay $5,000 a year to heat our homes.
Since when do the libs champion anyone who works, your being had. And just to set the record straight John McCain and George Bush have virtually nothing in common. Let me hear this "vision" Nobama has. Sounds a little like "together we can" with our friend "coupe" Deval becase Deval has been such a success right?

Um...maybe I am delusional, but this is freaking Massachusetts! What the f do we matter? Our liberal moronic lemming state will vote for the D (no matter who that is) and go about paying too much in taxes to pay for the useless among us who didn't want to commit to an education and make something of themselves...but that is just a 'conservative' speaking. Please give me a candidate who is not a war monger and not a communist-like 98% of the actual people in the country!
May America grow from this depth of stupidity!
It's interesting that one could believe that liberalism is the downfall of this great country. The definition of liberal is "favoring or permitting freedom of action, esp. with respect to matters of personal belief or expression". Based on that liberalism is the very founding premise of our great country. Conservatives "disposed to preserve existing conditions, institutions, etc., or to restore traditional ones, and to limit change" would still have us under British rule!
But that's OK conservatives, you don't have a single legitimate point to make which is why you have to result to factual inaccuracies.
The "nanny state" is one of the highest in median family income and lowest in poverty levels because the state government has enough money to do things like provide a quality education to as many as possible and provide incentives for companies to operate here that wouldn't do so otherwise because it would be too expensive. Compare that to a Republican run state like Mississippi where 25% of the people are below the poverty line. Government does things that are good for its people (alt energy, health care, social security, bring in jobs, etc) that the wealthy individuals and corporations that Republican "ownership/maximize profit" values support do not do these things for the people.
I think it's silly to presume that he "didn't love his country until he became a POW". By carefully choosing the words "fell in love with my country", McCain was pointing out how deeply it set in what the United States of America is really about and what it truly stands for.
To the one who said Mccain shouldnt have been trusted with a plane and that he was an inept pilot.......how many years did you serve your country? how many missions did you volunteer for after you could have gone home? No...he wasnt given the plane because of his family...he refused to be released from captivity because they wanted to let him go because his family was well reguarded. I bet obama would have done the same....had he served his country
#1 McBain and #12 Mike hit the target.
McCain's acceptance speech was lousy at best, maybe one or two inspiring instances, too much focus on fighting old wars and cameramen taking shots of veterans instead of McCain making a convincing argument on how he plans to lead this country out of the morass. He was lethargic, showed his age, and provided limited signs of giving the public confidence. (must say his mother is some feisty lady for 94....maybe that's his selling point for Palin not being consequential)
There is no doubt that O'bama (Boston) functions at a much higher intellectual level than McCain......a necessity in today's complicated , broken world. If the average American cannot see that differential, this country is toast. The debates will hopefully drive a nail into McCain's election coffin and Palin can go back to the tundra with her family in tow, praise the lord sweet jesus my servant of the united separation of church and states.
All odumba is doing is changing everything, even things that don't need to be changed. That could take years! Mc Cain is doing the right thing by changing things that only need it. Odumba is going to screw up our country even more.
I recognize John McCain sacifice with his military POW record. But this is a man that has made a complete public relations promotion effort from it. To have the audacity to promote this sacifice in a constance, consistant drum beat, a beating of the chest, if you will, is to trample on the experience of it. How can a person respect this bragging over and over again? Has the man no other important attributes? Its like the man believes our country owe him the White House because of this experience.
I found his speech hollow, full of platitudes. This man is part of a political system that led to the demise of our textile industry, steel industry, electronic industry, our manufacturing industry and soon to be, our auto industry. Here is a man that promotes "free trade" which is a fraudulent policy for it has not produced one single positive trade balance in thirty years! John McCain endorses free trade even though it has cost us all the above industries. Is there another country that would do this to themselves? I think not.
History Repeats It's Self
In 1976 our country was in almost the same situation as now. We were just coming out of an unpopular war, unemployment was rising, inflation was starting to show its ugly head, and run away oil prices.
The country wanted change, after the Nixon administration, so we elected Jimmy Carter for President. Obama and Carter are nearly twins, as far as their politcal philosphy and programs.
By 1980 the country was in a mess, runaway inflation, high fuel prices, interest running 18-20 percent, U.S. hostages in Iran, and unemployment was soaring.
I voted for Carter, I will not make the same mistake twice.
