McCain, Obama head for battlegrounds
Tussling for the change mantle as well as votes after their party conventions, John McCain and Barack Obama are both in battleground states today for the start of the two-month intense sprint to the election.
Fresh off the GOP gathering, McCain, with his surprise but popular running mate Sarah Palin in tow, is in Wisconsin today.
Obama, meanwhile, is back in Pennsylvania. So is his running mate Joe Biden, in separate events.
Their campaigns are trying to convince voters, who overwhelmingly say the country is headed down the wrong track, that they're the better one to right the ship.
"John McCain has a record of fighting to change," McCain senior strategist Steve Schmidt said this morning on NBC's "Today" show. For Obama, he said, change is "a nice word, it's a campaign tactic ... it's nonsense."
The Obama camp repeated that McCain would be more of the same, and that Obama is the real change agent.
"Last night John McCain said that his party was elected to change Washington, but that they let Washington change them. He's right. He admonished the 'old, do-nothing crowd' in Washington, but ignored the fact that he's been part of that crowd for twenty-six years, opposing solutions on health care, energy, and education," the campaign said in a memo.

McCain is going to end "partisan rancor". That convention sure was a good start, he was really reaching out to independents and moderates, right?
Hes a uniter, not a divider!
(hmm, where have we heard that before?)
I forget which site it was but earlier today I read a story on some news site about an Obama campaign staffer who was arrested for solciting cocaine from an undercover cop. Apprently it was intended to be used by the Senator himself.....has anyone else read this story...does anyone know the site or have the link?
I would like for everyone to know one important thing John Mccain said last night.
He said unemployemnet benefits started in the 1950 and under his administration he will not have it.
Can you imagine not haveing unemployement in this day where so many people dont have a job.
I am getting unemployement, now just lost my job in August, I have a degree in architecture but it is hard finding another job I have a wife and two kids if there was no unemployment we might not make it.
Now do we want a president that will do that to our country and he says country first, Right!!!!!
Please share this with as many people as you can.
Why has Barack not shown more support for fathers? How could he have picked a Biden who brought the Violence Agaisnt Women Act? This law provides no support for abused men and fathers. check my facts at: www.mediaradar.org
That's funny, because I heard that you were the dealer, and your mom was the buyer? Can you post a link?
I look at the actions of conservative, and even moderate, republicans and it makes me sad. On so many issue they simply attack the person and not the issue. There are groups that taunght pregnant women and in extreme cases bomb clinics killing people. Do you know of any groups on the otherside of the issue that taunght women for having a baby and not getting an abortion. Have you ever heard of a clinic being bombed because they perform deliveries of babies? Have you ever heard of someone being beat up because they were not gay?
To me, being liberial means you simply are saying that you believe that it is OK for people to have their own moral values. I believe that in some, if not many, cases abortion is immoral. I believe that in almost every circumstance abortion is not the right answer. But there is no place for me in the pro-life movement because I also believe that just because I feel this way doesn't mean you must as well. In most cases, I do not agree with a woman who choses to have an abortion, however I do not think I have the right to make that choice for her.
I would never engage in a gay relationship, homosexuality seems unnatural to me, however I would never hurt someone for having a different opinion than me, I would not be so arogant as to suggest that some how my opinion means more than someone elses. Having said that, if you believe that you are special and have some information that impells you to tell other people that they are wrong for their beliefs then who am I to say you are wrong for believing that you do. Your opinion is no more right or wrong than mine. I simply choose to associate with people who think the same way as me. A woman is not wrong if she decides to have an abortion. A person is not wrong because they are gay. They just have a different view than I do but they should enjoy the same rights I do.
I am in no way superior to anyone else. I have no special ability to see the truth where others can not. In no way do my spiritual beliefs afford me any special benefit of immortality over anyone elses beliefs. I am just a person amoung many other people just like me. All of whom were born with the same information about our existance and purpose, which is very little, As a matter of fact the only thing any of us truely know, for sure, about our ultimate purpose is the fact that none of us really knows for sure.
So why go through life pretending like you do? It just makes you seem insecure.
My wife and I drove up to Cedarsburg from Racine today. The line to get in was over 8 blocks long and we didn't get in. About 20-30 thousand attended.
McCain is for change! Where the heck has been in the past 26 years? He told us about his treatment in the Hanoi Hilton during his five years as a pow. What was he expecting room service?. In any event the vietcong gave him a 'better' treatment than the prisoners in Abu Graib. He is suppose to be putting country first, I wonder?
