Sarah Palin's attacks on the media appear to be paying dividends, according to a poll released today.

The Rasmussen Reports survey found that 51 percent of voters believe that the media is trying to hurt the Alaska governor with its coverage -- and 24 percent say that makes them more likely to support the Republican ticket.

Palin and fellow Republicans have been accusing the media of unfair, even sexist, coverage that questions her experience and qualifications.

Voters, however, don't appear to be buying the GOP argument that Palin's tenure as mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, and as the state's governor trumps Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama's time in the Illinois legislature and US Senate.

The poll found that 49 percent believe that Obama has the better experience to be president, compared to 39 percent for Palin.

The national survey was conducted before Palin's high-stakes speech Wednesday night at the Republican National Convention.
