Republicans: Obama is 'more of the same'
For months now, Democrats have been trying to use President Bush as an albatross around John McCain's neck, saying he only offers more of the same.
Now, Republicans are trying to turn the tables, linking Obama to the even more unpopular Congress.
A new web video out today from the Republican National Committee frames Obama with Democratic congressional leaders and paints them as tax-and-spend liberals, warning that together they would raise taxes and they all oppose more offshore oil drilling.
"Take away the celebrity, the thrilling moments. What's left? Old ideas masquerading as change," the announcer says.
"It's not change, it's more of the same."

That's satire, right? The old Washington politician who voted with Bush over 90% of the time and the young neophyte spouting Bush/Cheney policy as if it were her idea are trying to paint themselves as agents of change?
Tell me another one.
Oops, Obamatrons, we did it again. I think their diva trumps our diva. Barry doesn't have the hair, the lipstick, the tight skirt or as many cute kids. Barry is not sitting down to drink a beer and watch Nascar with y'all. And that, my friends is how elections are lost. Boo Hoo O Boo Boo. Hillary--oh that it were you in either spot on the Dem. ticket. You could dismantle Mrs. Paliln with your little finger and she wouldn't feel a thing. But if you were on the ticket, Palin would not have been McCains VP choice.
No one was more tax and spend that George Bush. It is not going to fly.
Just wait until the facts about Palin come out (providing the press doesn't cower from the GOP attacks).
Why don't you talk about the fact that Sarah Palin cut funding for single teen moms in Alaska.
Or maybe about the fact that the so-called "advocate" for disabled Americans cut funding for such programs by no less than 63%!
Next there is the company that had to lay off workers because of a gas shortage - all the while Sarah Barracuda was making an international gas deal while saying she was sorry while lying through her teeth.
Why didn't Sarah Palin tell the audience that as mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, she left a town of 9,000 people ten million dollars in debt, or that she hired a lobbyist to secure pork barrel spending and earmarks for the city?
Palin bragged to the audience about opposing the infamous bridge to nowhere, neglecting to mention that she was actually for it before she was against it.
its true. the democratic controlled congress hides in the shadows as Bush takes all the blame, some deserved, some not. either way, a democrat in the white house would create a great unbalance. that's just common sense.
The republicans do not know how to fix things. They only know to attact Mr. Obama personally. You can see the diferrence in how Mr.Obama respects Mr.McCain's service for the country and how republicans do not respect Mr.Obama's service in the Community. That shows the Character that Mr.Obama has and how he is going to work for the middle class Americans.
Seriously? Can the republicans come up with just ONE slogan they did not take from the Obama campaign. I bet if Obama starts claiming "Country First" the republicans would go insane.
Wow, talk about sophistry. I love the "tax and spend" chant that republicans dust off every 4 years, like grandma's old china. What is it called when $10billion is spent every month in Iraq? Technically Congress approves the money. Technically the Democrats have had a bare majority for 2 of Bush's 8 years. But as long as Bush and the Republicans keep our troops over there, the Congress has no choice but to support them. Plus, most of the money is just feeding our national defecit, so technically, China is loaning us the money to fight Iraq. Awesome. Never once has Obama said that he will raise taxes on the lower-earning 95% of Americans. He has repeated that ad nausium. What parallel universe are Republicans living in?
The Republicans are like a murderer who was seen by witnesses. All they can do is to try to create doubt.
The Republican party is at it again. Eight years of reckless spending under George W Bush and his cronies.......yet you have the audacity to come up with such lie of a video. From surplus in year 2000 to almost half a trillion dollars in debt in just a question of seen years. All Republicans need to do is to withdraw itself from governing because it is clear this current bunch of Republicans are not representing Lincoln proudly. We are now beginning to see the theater of the absurd.
more dogma as ad fodder. where's the beef?
more empty calories. enough.
Obama is more of the same? Were the McCain/Rovies off the planet for the last 8 years? This only shows how shamelessly low McCain's camp will stoop.
In my opinion, McCain's choice of Palin shows him to be incompetent and reckless. McCain had only met with Palin one time before he chose her to be his running mate. His staff had not vetted her. And yet he chose her to be a 72-76 year old heartbeat away from the presidency of the United States of America. McCain's poor judgement appears to mirror that of Bush's. McCain and Palin continue to give big oil ownership of America, your wallet, and eventually your mortgage. Not to mention the fact that McCain and conservative republicans have trampled upon the Constitution of the United States vehemently, (not that Americans really care about small details like that - our main concern is being able to afford gas right now.)
HAHAHAHHAAHA - What is funny, is hearing from the Republicans - 9/11, 9/11.9/11.9/11.9/11 - POW POW POW POW - Okayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy we get it. Why dont you tell us how you are going to help the POW's, US Everyday Americans victims Of GEORGE BUSHS/JOHN MCCAINS war on the economy. Somebody please tell us, cause John McCain was too busy running back and forth to the POW well, and he is a bit preoccupied.
Do I remember correctly but it was first Pres. Regan that increased taxes, a Republic, uh? Well, actually, I admire Pres. Regan and I'm still a great fan. Then we had George W. Bush, who after the "read my lips, no new taxes" had to swallowed it and raise them, only to lose the 1992 election to Bill Clinton (of whom I was never fond of). But how can the Republicans now accuse the Dems of more taxes? With what face?
Obama a celebrity? Uh? What about the one-night star Sarah Palin?
I supported Reagan and G Bush Sr., but sorry, this year the Republicans are a total joke.
Talk about the Pot calling the Kettle black!
re: McCain & Change
My God, what a powerful acceptance speech the world witnessed.
Reflecting on the nominee’s RNC speech before the party faithful, one cannot but be stirred by the promise to deliver “change” and “usher in an era of responsibility.” Only a man with such a distinguished record could possibly “lead this nation to a responsibility era, [in which] a president himself must be responsible.” Moreover, it must be admitted that the pledge “to change the tone of Washington to one of civility and respect”, is long overdue. All voters need take heart in the Republican candidate’s firm promise “to confront problems, not pass them on to others.”
The integrity of the man and his qualifications are, of course, beyond reproach. He has every right to tell us he is “proud” of his record. We must believe him when he says he is “prepared for the work ahead.” He is deserving of our “trust”; if we give him a “mandate” we can be sure he will “honor it” and “use it” to the best of his abilities. Take him at his word, give him “the opportunity to lead this nation” and we can rest assured that he “will lead”.
Finally, in the face of pressing economic challenges, his deep conviction in the need to change the status-quo resonates. His subsequent pledge to, “renew our values” in order “to restore our country” its dignity must be accorded respect. The voters would be well advised to put their trust in a man such as this.
His courage in saying the taint of the previous eight years must not be allowed to stand and the steely determination in his eyes cannot be discounted. We must believe him when he says: “My fellow citizens, we can begin again. After all of the shouting, and all of the scandal. After all of the bitterness and broken faith. We can begin again.”
Too bad, all of the quoted material above came from G.W. Bush's RNC acceptance speech on August 3, 2000?
Oh the irony!
Sorry, one more point here. Are the Republicans in complete lack of good slogans? They seem to like the Democrats slogans. What a lack of imagination and creativity!!

Wow. What "mavericks" that McCain is!
mav-er-ick, noun : a lone dissenter, as an intellectual, an artist, or a politician, who takes an independent stand apart from his or her associates
Standing apart from his associates to stand with Obama's "more of the same" slogan!
Let's see where else that Maverick McCain stands independently:
*The Dems had a woman potential so the the Reps had to get their own woman nominee.
*The Reps finger pointed Obama for having 'not enough experience' (a man who studied and taught Law and Political Science for years prior to becoming a Senator) so they turn around and nominate Palin who has LESS experience (a woman to majored in Business with a Political Science minor)
*The Reps seemed so jealous when calling Obama a 'celebrity' that they had to run out and get one of their own, a beauty pageant contender with even MORE likeness to the Spears family [ahem: unwed, young, pregnant women]
I laughed out loud when I saw this headline!
Our politicians need to come more from the truth and public interest. McCain saying that Obama would be more like Bush than him I think is a disservice, because propaganda does not solve problems, and we know who is most into military ventures and tax cuts for the rich, and it's not Obama. I don't know if Obama can really follow through on all his promises, but I hope he'll get elected and pull it off. A McCain presidency with a Democratic congress could be a continuation of the problem for this nation. It's easy to blame the Democratic congress, but they would get more done with a Democratic president.
"Barry is not sitting down to drink a beer and watch Nascar with y'all"
Actually Barack has had several beers throughout the country. Not sure about NASCAR --- I don't get NASCAR, it's supposed to be like a sport or something?
Ha ha, republicans are dumb. Their guy votes 95% with Bush and he wants to bring change.
Obama 08
I don't know when America will wake up and take back this country from the religious right and big multinational corporations. Long ago it seemed as if McCain had the nerve to take on the religious right, he even got himself into some trouble with one of their big deal pastors, but now he is completely in the pocket of the megachurches. Picking Palin was beyond the farthest reaches of what anyone could consider to be in the interest of America. It was political pandering to an extent not seen before in American politics. But I have to hand it to the Republicans, they can look the American people straight in the eye and just plain lie.
What happened to McCain since 2000 is a real shame. Maybe he is just losing getting old and doesn't really know what he is doing, or maybe he just wants to be President so badly that he can't be objective anymore. He says he only wants to be President because he wants to serve America, so is he saying that he is the absolute best man for the job? A 72 year old man, with cancer 5 times, who was never a particularly focused or disciplined guy, isn't a particularly good speaker, and was unable in 26 years in Congress to make the changes he now says we need, is the best man in America to be President. If I were McCain and I really wanted to serve America I would have tried to find someone with the education, disciplin, experience, talent, desire, and character to be our next President. But for McCain to stand in front of us and say the only reason I am running for President is because I want to serve, is obvious BS.
You have to know your limits, and McCain should know that at 72 and with his temperament, there are surely better men than he for the job.
Congress voted 90% of the time with Bush now Republicons are attacking congress? Come on! You gotta kidding me. Also, Congress rating is so low because Republicons cannot agree on eanything with Dems, All Republcons are for Corporation. Please don't denie.
Be it 'Country First' ,'Change' ,'More of the Same' ,'Community organizing is lame' , it doesn't matter which campagin slogan McCain finally settles on, it's not going to change the hard facts. That he has no economic plans, he has little understanding of the economy, and he will not do much to change any of America's ever-growing number of problems.
Senetor McCain surely appealed to the Congress for seeking the integrities of all national agencies including militaries. Rapid changes have incured around the World by plotted evil states actions againt Georgia as her rightful efforts by Oil-Shamed-Shameless New-Rich Emperor Putin last August at east Europe, who would be able to defeat and respond to her actions along with Atom-Bombed willnesses nations.
Economies around the states at inner or outer, would depend on the situations of fixed dicisive policies as McCains's presenting ideas, not on the surface regulatded articles of laws words changing with profits for encumbering as technical lawer.
John McCain and Sarah Palin cannot escape what they are with pschological transference. We know who is more of the same. McCain's campaign is the most tranparently vile attemt to foo the american people that I have ever witnessed. And that includes the despicable antics of G.W. Their campaign has signaled the end of the Republican party but the don't know it yet. They cannot win. He is just copying the Democratic response to the deserate need for a new direction in America. And those who follow cannot lead.

Obama? more of the same? That is the most desperate idea yet of the goofy Repukes so far. I can't even get far enough away from these incompetent hypocritical jerks like bush, mcpain, and palin, no way are they representing any kind of change from the ugly realities that has been created for us in 8 years.
If anything they can only make things worse. I thought McCain couldn't be worse than bush but by picking Palin, it only promises to get worse if they ever got elected by the insane voting population. Please, go pick on someone else because Obama is definitely a step in the right (actually left of center) direction.

McCain + Dem Congress = ZERO PROGRESS. That's right, just more of the same.
Let me get this straight. So McCain wants to reform the GOP by putting the GOP back in power after 8 disastrous years under his mentor, Bush, the worst president in history?
He's such a loser and I wish he stayed in his Hanoi Hilton suite. Did you see his speech? Like an old man yelling at the clouds! LOL
Anybody that thinks McCain is going to be a third term for George Bush has not been paying attention to reality for the last 8 years. Further, if Obama gets elected he may make Bush look as good as Bush made Clinton look. It is sad when our country deteriorates to the point where people are as ill informed as some of the above comments make clear.
Before the mindless OHB cult, said experience was bad, and we should get away from the old politics. Change we can believe in. What change has OBH done in his 2 years in government?
Has he stop dealing with crooks like all other politicians. NO
Has he put the countries interest above his own. NO
Has he stopped selling out the interest of the country to large corporate, NO
Was he the first politician to write a book about himself, NO
Was he the first black person to run for the white house, NO
Then what change does he bring to us other then he is the first black to win the nomination. Other then this he is nothing.
OBH states he wants change and has done nothing and has no experience.
Sarah Palin has proved she is the Change we can believe in. she goes after politician in her own party when they a crooks. Fighting for what right and does not wanting hand outs.
This is the change that Sarah Palin, provides. She is the change the country needs.
It reminds me of the scene in the movie Oh Brother Where Art Thou when Pappy O' Donnel is complaining that his campaign is languishing because the people want reform. so Junior O' Donnel suggests, "Why don't we get us some reform too."
At least Pappy O' Donnel had the sense to say, "We can't run on reform when we're the damn incumbant!"
Uncreative and even more unoriginal. Typical out of a bunch of war criminal thiefs though. How do you speak a combined 2 hours (palin and mcbush) and say absolutely nothing except I was a POW (mcbush) and I used to be a porn star (palin). Where was the substance?
I eagerly await the debates...where the GOP and the ignorant redneck followers who don't really understand how bad the country is right now will hopefully have an eye opening experience - impossible for some.
The McCain campaign should rethink emphasizing the "old" word.
McCain has copied everything Obama has done. Now the party in charge of the mess we are in for 8 yrs is change?
The Democrats are more of the same. The Democratic Party platform hasn't changed in the last forty years. It could be that they might actually win a presidential election, if they ever learned the error of their ways. Well, they haven't! They are still the party of big government, higher taxes, too many give-away programs, etc. Since this election year is a tough one for the Republicans, you would think that this election would be a cakewalk for the Democrats. The mistake was made when the Dems nominated an ultra-liberal, inexperienced, out-of-touch, seemingly unpatriotic candidate with an unfortunate choice of associates.
Oh, the frantic and desperate comments from liberals on this and other pages. The biggest panic is coming from the Washington insiders from both parties. They see a maverick McCain in the Oval Office surrounded by a maverick cabinet of Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, and Independents that will make their lives, and the lives of their lobbyist buddies a living hell. Good Riddance.
Until now, Senator McCain was a thorn in the side of big government. Soon, he'll be a club to the head. Obama? Who's he?
==McCAIN ~ PALIN 08==
It's really difficult to sort out the bull from the beef, but neither of these candidates wants or would dare 'change' what their corporate sponsors and de facto owners tell them to do.
We so desperately need a true “leader” but not one of these two globalist puppets. They have the same bosses, the same agenda....to reign in the new world order at the calling of the international bankers and council on foreign relations uppity ups. tin hat? Have you seen the price of tin lately?
There will be no change in foreign policy with either of these two....just troop movement. We will not change from imperialism back to non-interventionism...our constitutional hallmark and true conservative roots.
We will not change monetary policy. We will give the federal reserve even more power, as if a private cartel running our economy isn't enough. look for global taxes and less economic sovereignty.
We will not have a repeal of the patriot act, military commissions act, abolishment of DHS, etc. The police state will grow, no matter who is elected amongst the front runners.
Tell me I'm wrong and show me why. I doubt you can substantiate a different point of view. That is not meant in disrespect, but a matter of utter factual and historical precedence. we have not had a representative republic in some 80 years.
More of the same is right- the Republicans accuse the Democrats of tax and spend while they pillage the country's coffers to finance huge corporations and wealthy individuals- they rob the poor to give to the rich. They care nothing about the economically lower and middle classes. To them we are the mobs that they have to control by whatever method necessary to keep us in line while they destroy the environment, bankrupt the economy and limit all of our rights. This election is about survival-ours and our way of life. We have to vote Obama/Biden and we have to do everything possible to make sure that the Republicans do not steal this election.
This can't really be the ad they're running, can it?
How can you have John McCain, a Washington insider that has been involved in maybe five lobbyist scandals over the years, including the Keating Five and more recently the female lobbyist that he was giving special treatment, say that he's for change, especially after he just selected a v.p. in Sarah Palin that has requested more pork from lobbys as governor than any other governor in the Union, and requested 27 million in pork for her town of 6500 alone.
They must think the American people are either as crazy as they are or just plain stupid.
