Barack Obama is winging his way west for a glitzy fund-raiser in Beverly Hills tonight headlined by Barbra Streisand.

The Democrat needs to keep raising millions because unlike Republican John McCain he has turned down public financing. A reception and dinner costs $28,500 a person, while it costs $2,500 a ticket for a later event featuring Streisand, who initially supported Hillary Clinton.

But the event provided an irresistible opening for McCain, who was campaigning in hardscrabble northeastern Ohio this afternoon, to get a dig in.

“He talked about siding with the people, siding with the people, just before he flew off to Hollywood for a fund-raiser with Barbra Streisand and his celebrity friends," McCain said in Vienna, Ohio. Let me tell you, my friends, there is no place I’d rather be, than here, with the working men and women of Ohio. I’m going to fight for you and together we’re going to win in November.”
