Batter up, after Obama

Posted by Foon Rhee, deputy national political editor October 28, 2008 06:05 PM

Barack Obama's half-hour TV ad will at least pre-empt the World Series pregame show, after all.

Major League Baseball announced that the resumption of Game 5, which was suspended by a deluge Monday night, will not happen until Wednesday night. If Philadelphia and Tampa Bay had managed to play tonight and if the Phillies had won, they would have clinched the series and Obama would have been off the hook.

After Obama scheduled his ad for 8 p.m. Wednesday, Fox and Major League Baseball agreed to postpone the start of the World Series game if there was one played.

John McCain told voters in Pennsylvania today, "No one will delay the World Series game with an infomercial when I'm president."

The Obama campaign points out that a Fox executive says there's no delay because the first pitch this World Series has been happening between 8:22 p.m. and 8:35 p.m., so the only thing that is being pre-empted is the pre-game show.

The only programming being delayed is the FOX pregame show. If McCain had actually watched any of the Word Series games, he would know the first pitch in each game as has been at 8:37 p.m. EST. I, for one, am glad we won't have to sit through Joe Buck and Tim McCarver mangling the finer points of the game of baseball.

Sam, you are absolutely on target......Joe Buck and Tim McCarver are the 2 most boring announcers in baseball. I have not been watching the pre-game because of them.....I tune into the game at 8:30.

Obama has the right to broadcast an ad whenever he can schedule and pay for it. McCain's comment just seems like sour grapes.

I don't have any problem with Obama's infomercial as a baseball fan. As a fan of politics I think I would scrap the plan for the infomercial since he's sitting on a nice lead. At this point every time he opens his mouth to say something substantive he runs the risk of shooting himself in the foot.

So basically McCain is saying he is against free speech, typical Repubgant wing nut.

Heaven knows a baseball game is more important than this election!
Good issue for McCain! Can I get March Madness without commercial interruptions, sir?

FREE 12-PACK OF BUD LIGHT FOR EVERYBODY !
And McCain pulls of the last-minute victory ...

Obama is being a capitalist, FOX is being capitalist. McCain wants socialism with state controlled media!

"...when i am president."
does that mean he thinks that Obama is already president?
or does that mean he thinks this is somehow Bush's fault (which we can never fully rule out)?

either way, you'd think mccain - a member of the party that is supposed to believe in the power of the free market to decide everything - would understand that Obama bought the time so it's actually the MARKET deciding this...

Hey Johnny! Take out your own ad. You know you would if you could, so STFU, baby...

Only the Obama-idolizing sheep will watch his 30-minute infomercial tonight.
Baa Baa Barack Sheep...

I'm voting "none of the above" on my ballet. If Obama is looking out for the poor and middle class he should donate the money he is wasting on a stupid infomercial to charity. We need term limits on our congressmen so we don't get all these corrupt people that run our country.

Idolizing Sheep? Typical of a Right Wing sore-LOSER to resort to name-calling. The fact that so many people are inspired by this man angers the conservatives so much that they have to actually pick on him for being liked!!

Obama is just showing his "arrogant socialist" personality. An infomercial? and interrupting America's Apple Pie "baseball game" just shows that Obama will stop at nothing to get what he wants. Wake up liberals and smell the socialist coffee! If you love America, don't vote for Obama!

So now we know that John McCain believes that when he is President (in his dreams only), he will have the right to control what we watch too! What was that -- "The Land of the Free, and the Home of the Brave." McCain wasn't even able to brave the rain in Pennsylvania and show up for his own fans!

Barack is the man who keeps his commitments, shows up, and delivers!!!
