Cindy McCain blasts Obama on troop funding

By Sasha Issenberg, Globe Staff

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Cindy McCain today joined in the stepped-up attacks on Democrat Barack Obama.

"I'm proud of my sons, but let me tell you, the day that Senator Obama decided to cast a vote to not fund my son when he was serving sent a cold chill through my body," she said, drawing a chorus of boos.

"Let me tell you: I would suggest that Senator Obama change shoes with me for just one day, and see what it means, and see what it means to have a loved one serving in the armed forces, and more importantly, serving in harm's way."

McCain, who said Tuesday that Obama has "waged the dirtiest campaign in American history," is referring to a vote that Obama cast last year against a defense funding bill because it did not include a timeline for pulling out of Iraq. He subsequently voted for a version that included a timetable.

Jimmy McCain, then 18, served with the Marines in Iraq last year before returning in February.

Maybe she should look at McCain's vote on the recent GI Bill. Oops, that's right, McCain didn't vote that day......he was campaigning in CA. Have another vicodan, Cindy.

Oh Cindy - take a suck pill - sounds like a cheap shot from her. I would have done the same thing that Obamaha did - not intending on screwing our folks who in the first place shouldn't even be there. Thanks Bush!!!

Whoa Cindy, when did you decide to be heard!

Also, when someone votes "present" its usually in protest to some piece of the legislation....usually in the fine print.....Both McCain and Obama voted for and against increasing spending on the war either due to timetables for withdrawl, where the money is spent and modifications to the mission....

The last known bill Mccain did NOT support was for the GI bill to be remade to increase benefits to our service people.....even republicans felt John McCain was on the wrong side of the issue.....McCain felt it would decrease re-enlistment, when another report said it would increase it.......McCains voting record shows he supports sign on bonuses but not things like mental healthcare

Cindy's husband also voted against troop funding, when the bill included a timetable for withdrawal, as Obama has repeatedly pointed out. Did she get a chill that day, too?

Cindy recently whined that Obama has run "the dirtiest campaign in history". Is she high? AGAIN?

If Dems were like Repubs, Cindy's opiate addiction, thefts, and adultery, as well as her father's racketeering conviction, would be brought up in every ad, every interview and every speech.

While the media frothed at the mouth about Michelle Obama's 'anger', the nonexistent 'whitey' video, her 'first time I'm proud to be an American' gaffe, Cindy McCain smugly weighed in with, "I've ALWAYS been proud of MY country!"

The second Mrs. McCain has been treated with kid gloves by the MSM. Her criminal and immoral behavior has not been mentioned once by a major news outlet in this election cycle.

If Michelle Obama was an admitted opiate addict and thief, an adulteress and a home-wrecker, and her father had been convicted on racketeering charges, can you imagine the media bloodbath that would have ensued?

I have a question for Cindy McCain: Were you really 'proud of your country' when you were stealing drugs?

Sam- I guess you must be a saint and have never done anything wrong. I guess that glass house of yours must have some broken windows from the stones you're pitching. Have you done any of the charity work she has or seen one tenth the devistation/death that she has? No? I didn't think so. Grow up! Where has Obama been for the last 20 months. Not in Washington voting!

`..."waged the dirtiest campaign in American history,"..what newspaper does she read and what news channel does she watch? Oops! Sorry perhaps Ms Goldy is too busy popping pills to read or understand seasoned argument.
Obama voted for that bill after it was modified to include a timeline and that is simply because of what he supports, that the troops must be pulled out in a timely fashion. Let me just say this, when the entire country especially people like her husband were caught up in the war mania of invading Iraq that Obama had the far sight to denounce. Lok what happened now..more people hate America, there were NO WMDs and not to mention the Iraqi terror groups have a been legitimized by this wanton culture of war mongering. Another addition to the long line of unqualified idiotic Republican females.

Dear Ms. McCain,
There is an old saying: It's better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and let everyone know it. You claim that it sent a chill down your spine when Sen. Obama voted against "funding troops" while your son was serving in harms way. Did it send a chill down your spine when your husband, the Dishonorable Sen. McPain, voted to cut off funding for troops who were serving "in harms way" in Somalia? Maybe you missed that one because you were off on one of your opiate trips!!!!

Cindy disappoints me as does McCain when he decided to go blatantly negative. The only folks feverish for the kind of hate Palin spews up are the rednecks and Bush loyalists who voted for him twice. Now Cindy’s saying that it’s Obama who is running the most dirtiest campaign in history. Really? That’s not how people with all four senses see it. She also has the nerve to LIE and say that Obama voted against funding that would protect her naval son, she must really feel that voters don’t fact check. He voted for military funding that INCLUDED a time line not the bill her hubby endorsed. As for Cindy, this is a glassy eyed junkie all the time she was over there “helping orphans” she saw a cute little colored girl and without asking her hubby John, brought it home and said “surprise”. Yeh, the idle rich sure do love their accessories. Her opinion is coming from the bottom of her crystal bottle of scotch. Keep sipping Cindy and take your breath mints, we won't tell.

Hey McCain maybe you should go to www.iava.org (Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America). They put out a report card this week rating all members of Congress on their votes to support legislation for our military. Obama was given a grade of "B".........McCain was given a "D". I'm fed up with McCain using our soldiers to try to benefit himself but when they need his votes, he turns his back on them!!!!!

John McCain and his campaign does nothing but call a lie to the sacrifice and earnest endeavors of military wives. He presents himself as a man with whom Military families can identify. But would they still identify with him if they knew he abandoned the wife and family who supported him when he was in the military?

While McCain was a POW, his first wife Carol, was in a horrific, near fatal car accident, which left her alive, but crippled and disfigured. Carol McCain endured and whispered not a word of these horrors to her husband because she wanted to spare him the agony and worry. Upon his return from Vietnam, seeing his wife was not the woman he once knew, John McCain, forsake his marital vows, and forsake his wife and his family. John McCain committed an act that women all across America fear. He deserted his wife in her hour of need. He turned his back on her, and took a second wife, a woman nearly 20 years his junior - that woman was Cindy McCain, within 1 month they were married

It should have sent a big CHILL down your spine when you and your husband got a marriage license before the ink had even dried on his divorce decree!
It should send a CHILL down your spine when someone walks out on a woman who patiently waited for his return when he was a POW.
Yes its should send a CHILL down your spine how she is not even mentioned as being part of his life, before you walked in with your 7 homes, 13 cars, plane and millions of $.
You could stop acting like you are the only PARENT with a child in the military, or a husband who has been a POW (he deserves respect for his service but not a constant in our face singing of his sacrifice...others do give their lives in honor of this country)

We at Blue Star Families for Obama (www.bsf4o.com) are appalled at Cindy McCain's comments today. Until today, the McCains have not used their sons in their Smear Talk Express, but today, she used a misleading political gesture that FAILED during the first presidential debate. Senator McCain ALSO voted against funding for the troops over the same bill. The disagreement was NEVER about troop funding--it was about a timetable for withdrawal of troops from Iraq.

McCain has voted over and over AGAINST our troops and military. Get the facts at www.bsf4o.com.

"conservative not neocon" is a leftist freak. conservatives can get mean, but they aren't so obsessed with the material goods other people have. how can people who are so greedy for Cindy McCain's "stuff" accuse other people of being greedy. They aren't wanting a fair deal, they just want to take someone elses stuff. they are as greedy as any "ceo" or whatever they say to slur someone who has something they THINK they want..

The evil eye (mal de ojo) is envy and covetousness, whether for someone else's material goods, or for another person's spirit or life condition, and Obama is the most infamous evil eye inducer ever! He and Michelle have it and spread it like a disease. No wonder so many people can't stand to look at him!

CINDY NEEDS TO CONCENTRATE ON HER OWN FAILINGS AND STOP DRAWING ATTENTION TO HER OWNS CRIMES! WHO ARE THE REAL MCCAIN AND PALIN?

"Thank You John McCain for being a true American.
Thank God for Sarah Palin; let her shine the light for so many that are in the dark."

Hey Kay, Really? I suggest you do a little investigating about your “True American Hero’s”

Find out the facts about what Johnny boy did when fire from an explosion raced through the boat he was on. Men burned to death. Did he act quickly and “lead” as an officer is trained to do? Or did he waited it out, watching from a closed circuit TV set in a room safely away from the fire. I’m guessing you didn’t know that, did you?

When he was tortured in the Hanoi Hilton, did he refuse to say anything but Name, Rank & Serial Number, or did he let it out that his daddy was a high ranking military officer, thus, saving his own ass from any furthur torture, and putting the next guy below him in the torture seat? And when he was offered a chance to come home, did he stay to be with his fellow soldiers, or, did he stay because they wanted him to renounce the US, and if he did that, he’d come home to a Court Marshal? You just don’t know, do you?

If you are going to hold yourself up in the air and declare perfection, then you hold your own past up to scrutiny.

I’m guessing that his buddies at Freddy Mac, you know, the guys who run his campaign (sorry Kay, I have a friend at Freddy, and yes, McCain’s buddy is the treasurer, has been involved with Freddie all along) the real high ups (those would be the rich white guys that walked away with millions in bonuses every year) who gave him lots more money than the lower ranked employees gave Obama, well, they must be true American’s too. White and rich, right?

And the Keating Five? American’s right?

When McCain came home to the wife who waited for him, she had been in a car accident, and he left her for the rich girl. Hey, that’s something to be proud of too, right?

And when she bought drugs illegally, and the other guy went to jail, she didn’t.... I wonder why Kay? What would the judge have done to your ass Kay? Well, I think he would have thrown it in jail.

Now I could say a lot of things about our Miss Sarah, because I have a friend who moved to Wasilla a while back, but I think that the fact that she built a Sports Arena that is now empty most of the time (friend said it’s out of city limits... no public transportation, only 3 people there last week) when, within sight of Wasilla, is a village where MOTHERS have to cart the piss and shit out of their houses in BUCKETS, and take them down to a lagoon to dump them... I think that just about says it all about Miss Sarah Palin, don’t you? Those mothers, they aren’t white, and they don’t wear lipstick, and their sons don’t play hockey.

So Kay, this white mother doesn’t want to be in any light that Sarah Palin is shining in, or in the same breath as McCain, and if you think that either one of them gives a rats ass about you... I have a bridge I’d love to sell you.

John McCain is fortunate to be surrounded by a wife, a VP candidate and a campaign advisor from Fannie Mae all of whom help John McCain maintain his illusional construct of the world. "The economy is fundamentally strong."
"My fellow prisoners."

When the truth hurts tell the public the most bodacious lies. Apparently not one of his advisors seem to understand that the great unwashed American people can search the Congressional Record on the internet to see who voted for which military spending bill and when. I think it is very refreshing to see how Cindy McCain has been quickly inserted into the fray as a surrogate for Sarah Palin. They both lie, but Cindy does it habitually and without remorse. The maverick John McCain learned to be humble and to identify with the middle-class from his charming and loving father, Admiral McCain. "he is the very model of an an American Admiral. (Apologies to Gilbert & Sullivan) John is as rigid as a McCains potato chip. Looks good on the package, different inside the bag!

Dave, chill out. Cindy McCain has no business talking about Obama not supporting her son. Look at McCain's voting record when it comes to veterans issues. Johnny-boy will send them into harms way, but ignores them when they come home. Also, Dave, where was Senator McCain when the senate voted on the GI Bill? I just get shivers down my spine to think ANYONE would think this man supports our troops, in particular, veterans!

Obama's campaign has fueled an unpatriotic anger and rage such as I've never seen in American politics. The rumblings caused by the undercurrent of racial tension is absolutely sickening. Some political sages have said that Obama will prevail as President because the election of an African-American will serve as America's atonement for the sins of slavery in our past and we will be an example to the rest of the world. I believe that should Obama become our President, he will have a such a divided country that even his most eloquent oratorical efforts will not be able to unify it.

Just a few of the bills supporting troops that McCain has voted against:

I have a message for Cindy McCain. Cindy, your husband did not vote for the following war funding bills over the past year:

6/26/08 HR 2642 Iraq and Afghanistan War Finding/GI Bill
5/22/08 S Amdt 4814 Funding for Operations in Iraq and Afghanistan
5/22/08 S Amdt Finding for Operations in Iraq and Afghanistan with Provisions Regarding Conduct and Congressional Oversight
3/14/08 S Con Res 70 Concurrent Budget Resolution
1/22/08 HR 4986 Defense Authorizations Bill
11/16/08 HR 4156 Supplemental Appropriations for the Department of Defense and Timeline for Withdrawal
11/16/08 Emergency Supplemental Appropriations for the Department of Defense
10/1/07 National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2008

As recently as June of this year, McCain voted against Sen. Jim Webb (D) VA, new GI Bill because it was "too generous". This from man who's birth was paid for by the gov't, who's education was paid for by the gov't, who's children's births were paid for by the gov't, and who's ongoing medical problems are paid for by whom, yes, the gov't. But it's "too generous" to help pay for the education of our nation's soldiers, who are risking their lives for an empty war.

Seems like Cindy McCain should be directing her anger at all the Bush lemmings that voted for the funding bill. They're the ones who are responsible for sending her son in to harms way for a senseless cause in Iraq.
He could have a chance to be the hero that gets Osama in Afghanistan if he wasn't wasting our resources in a senseless war that is just going to implode as soon as we pull our troops out!

Oldy and Goldy are no wonder man and wife. McCain has milked his POW stories for all its worth. He has used that ne epdisode as a qulaification and achievement to get as far as this, but where does it stop?? he has spent his wife's money in the last 10 years to chart out a way to the WHite House. How can someone be allowed to use one single act of accidental heroism as a way and means to the Presidency?

Dear Bonnie, stop following like the other republican sheep and read the facts for yourself. Go back and read the history surrounding the Nixon/Kennedy run for office. Boy, the Repub's really capitalize on their constituents ignorance of the facts, don’t they? And your use of "boy" and "welfare" hasn't gone unnoticed either. So Bonnie, are all black people on welfare? Sadly you haven't even taken the time to read what Obama's policy is regarding poverty, or, what he did in Chicago. How about YOU being honest about why YOU won't vote for Obama!
