Focus on early voters

Posted by Foon Rhee, deputy national political editor October 20, 2008 12:44 PM

As part of its big early voting push, Barack Obama's campaign posted a new video to encourage voters in Florida, where early voting starts today.

The whimsical video has the feel of those early 1960s ads that promoted Florida as a tourist destination. Now, it's the destination for hundreds of operatives from both presidential campaigns. Obama, his wife Michelle, Hillary Clinton, and Bill Richardson will all be in the Sunshine State today to encourage supporters to go ahead and lock in their votes.

Six other states, including the crucial battleground of Colorado and the big prize of Texas, also allow early balloting starting today. With early voting becoming more popular, some analysts believe that as many as one-third of all voters could cast their ballots before Nov. 4.

At a rally in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., this afternoon, Hillary Clinton urged Democrats to vote early, saying that an "unprecedented turnout' on Nov. 4 is likely to mean long lines.

"You can cut those lines by voting early," she said. Then, she added, those voters can help get others to the polls to vote for Obama.

you Hillary support are so stupid. Do you really think she think Obama is any better now then when she was running against him? No she still thinks he's a fake but she has to support him because its her party. She would if she could tell you to vote for the other guys. She knows he is lying about his birth papers she said so in speeches and she know he is not good for America she said so in speeches. So why now do you really think she is for him...lol.. she has to say these thing if she is going to win the next election. He was against him and still against him she is just in a spot where she has no choice. Think about it.. Why does Obama and his cousin Odinga have the same kind of campaign if i were you i would look into that. Hillary did

wow, such harsh words against the demos. just cause you love republicans, and cause republicans have the disadvantage from everything so far, that the demos have a good chance to win, dont need to say such harsh words man. vote for the one who will make things "fair" for the nation, not on one who wants to widen the gap btwn poor and rich. Anyone who say things to attack the other party are all losers.....no offense.

Which Hillary supporters are you responding to in a post that has no existing comments and doesn't talk about them, Tiffiny?

But, hey, it's cool. Don't vote for Barack Obama if you don't believe in him. Believe that he wasn't born in the US, is an Arab, is a Muslim sleeper agent (Manchurian Candidate, even), is a terrorist - although, his terror cell is one that was last active in the 60s, consists exclusively of white hippies, and is headed by a guy who has since been enabled and embraced by Republicans, but who cares! Vote. Express your opinion. The sooner we get this election over and done with, the sooner we don't have to listen to pointless bloviating from under-informed individuals like yourself. Hallelujah - I mean, Allahu Akbar!

Obama/Biden 2008. Yes We Can.

I do not even know how Barack has made it this far.

So THIS is the October Suprise.. Front Page News on all News Channels around the world starting now "TIFFANY THE GENIOUS HAS EXPOSED THE TRUTH.. BARACK OBAMA IS NOT A CITIZEN AND HAS BEEN FOOLING US ALL.

At least get a little more original, Tiffany.

Everyone has a right to their opinion..If you're voting for McCain on his policies fine, do that, but the hateful, ignorant lies as your argument are clearly racism and is giving your party a bad name.

I am a Floridian and I went out to vote. Have done it each year that it has been allowed. It is good to get the task done. You never know what the future holds. Five weeks ago I was fine on Monday evening, went to bed and Tuesday morning I was in the hospital with kidney stones. Did not get out of the hospital until eight that evening. If that had been election day instead of a Tuesday in September I would have missed it even though I was fine on Monday and fit to vote on Wednesday.

We really do need change but it only comes if you vote for it. It is not something that we are going to get if we don't act. There is no reason to wait for election day.
