Kaine: Vote for 'excellence'
NORFOLK, Va. -- Change. Hope. Unity.
We all know by now the overarching themes of Barack Obama's campaign. Tonight in Norfolk, Virginia Governor Tim Kaine, who introduced Obama to a shivering mass of 22,000 at a minor-league baseball stadium, emphasized something different: excellence.
Kaine said that after eight years of the Bush administration, it was time to return excellence to the White House -- in "character," "vision," "judgment," and "aspiration." He cited the government's failures in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the economic mess, and the Iraq war, which he said had been badly managed.
"We don't have to settle for mediocrity," said Kaine, an early Obama supporter who campaigned with him across Virginia today. "We are ready for excellence, and Barack Obama will restore excellence."
Needless to say, if Obama wins on Tuesday, the expectations for his presidency -- given the sweeping promises he has made about changing the direction of the country -- will be sky-high.

Vote for the more intelligent person. People consider intellectuals elitist but anyone who thinks they should rule the world is elitist. May as well have a smart elitist instead of a nepotism fake cowboy elitist or a Naval Academy nepotism flunky.
I have a hard time associating Obama with excellence. He is the least qualified candidate of the whole slate and practically has no accomplishment to date. I don't know Tom Kaine, but his judgement is questionable, in my opinion.
Excellence isn't a description of your reading ability, mk. It's TIM Kaine. He is similar to Obama. Standout at Harvard Law. Taught law. Served the poor with fair housing advocacy. No accomplishment next to a lifetime of milking a failed mission in Viet Nam but it's something.
