McCain's Frank Talk

Posted by Sasha Issenberg October 9, 2008 01:27 PM

WAUKESHA, Wisc. -- John McCain may be going out of his way to praise Ted Kennedy at debates, but he is using another Massachusetts Democrat to draw boos.

In response to a question about whether McCain would investigate those responsible for the mortgage crisis, he pointed the finger at "willing co-conspirators" in Congress.

"Congressman Barney Frank and Senator Chris Dodd are two of them,” McCain said, so riling the crowd by the mention of the first name that few probably heard the second.

OMG who's he going to pick-on next, the Hamburgler?

Frank has argued that family life "should be fair game for campaign discussion," wrote the Associated Press on Sept. 2. The comment was in reference to GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin and her pregnant daughter. "They're the ones that made an issue of her family," the Massachusetts Democrat said to the AP. How about "alternative" families?

The news media have covered the relationship in the past, but there have been no mentions since 2005, according to Nexis and despite the collapse of Fannie Mae. The July 3, 1998, Reliable Source column in The Washington Post reported Frank, who is openly gay, had a relationship with Herb Moses, an executive for the now-government controlled Fannie Mae. The column revealed the two had split up at the time but also said Frank was referring to Moses as his "spouse." Another Washington Post report said Frank called Moses his "lover" and that the two were "still friends" after the breakup. Seems that Barney was focusing on the wrong fanny.

Barney said this week that Republican concerns regarding the loosening of subprime loan regulations and the pushing of such as mortgage backed securites is simply an attempt to appeal to the GOP's racist tendencies...

Why would Repulicans have a problem with Barney? Given this week's implication by King Frank, who is the real racist? The biggest question: Will the overeducated, self-important weinies of The 4th District ever hold this criminal responsible? As they skip into Starbucks, wearing their Crocks and Obama logo t-shirts signing "yes we can, yes we can...", not likely. Welcome to Holistic Facism..:)

I am tired of Bwarney Fwank and Dodd, two of the highest recipients of campaign contributions from Freddie,Fannie,AIG, etc being praised for their "bailout" efforts.

Bother of these men should be up before a congressional investigation.

I hope their constituents, when given the chance, remove them from office.

The stock market, in today's trading, is at it's lowest since 2003, and McCain wants to point fingers at everyone else?

Who elect these moron is the ultimate question and it bring to light a very important issue and that is it is about time to scrutinise these people before running for senate or any Congressional office.

Our pensions are disappearing and Barney Frank is playing the race card. No one is accusing minorities Mr. Frank. They are accusing you and your liberal buddies. You should resign from Congress immediately. And what about Chris Dodd and his sweetheart loan from County Wide. He should go to jail.

"sicne Freddie and Fannie are not allowed to contribute money directly" ....WHAT??
As Chris Dodd stated, politicians have received "courtesy" friends and family loans
from motgage corporations....The donations go directly to their campaign accounts, sometimes via the Hershey Highway..#2 over the past 20 years is guess who? Barry O'Bama..

"Who elect these moron..." The suave of Newton, Weston, Wayland and other lower income communites of Massachusetts, thats who.. Blame the 4th District!

I f John McCain is to have a snowballs chance he had better start telling the American people who voted for what and who did what and when. Who took the money to pass these bills, who took the money to ignore these issuses. If he is really the maverick he portrays himself to be this will not be a problem. All politicians e-mails have been jammed for weeks now due to the overload.
These e-mails are about one thing. The above topic. The well being of every American Citizen. Please wake up John. Time is running OUT. Sarah has already shown her worth. Ask her where she stands on these issues. Get on board John.

Obamamaniacs are too caught up in their rockstar/messianic worship of His Highness in order to make any educated choices as to the matter of presidential candidates.

Screaming racism and blaming Bush is ALL these idiots are capable of doing.

Quite frankly, debates aren't even necessary. Regardless of the rhetoric of either side in the debate, the liberal media will coronate His Majesty as the victor. This is, without a doubt, the SILLIEST election I have witnessed.

Frank, Dodd, and many others are guilty criminals who should be punished under the full extent of the law. However, the liberal elites will poo-poo this fact and continue their loyalistic, and nearly religous blind support of the party of welfare and race warlordism.

For Sam,
What grade are you in?
Read some facts below:
"the fact that it was the Clinton administration that pushed for subprime loans through the Community Reinvestment Act; the fact that Barney Frank was sleeping with a Fannie Mae executive while pushing Congress to deregulate Fannie Mae; the fact that it was Democrats in 2005 who voted against reform of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in a party-line vote."

God help us! Pelosi two people away from the Presidency. Raines and Johnson now advisors for Obama (Barry) Barrack, Who? Then Barney Frank, Meeks, Waters, etc. how in gods name can this country ever get straigthened out. I am headed for Alaska to learn how to field dress a moose and fish. How did Obama pay for his education and take a trip around the world while in college anyway?

The Dems will not be investigated and they will be reelected. That's because of the dum-dums in our now ignorant, stupid, uneducated once great country led astray by the far left and the main stream media who are now in charge!

Fine,
they passed the bailout bill, I do not agree with it, but at its best it will only take care of the symptoms. the cause of the problem is in black and white according to congressional records which are public domain. Barney Frank, chief among the people who brought this about is in their own books in Congress. To argue otherwise is ignorant and can be nothing else since the proof is coming straight from the source (being his work). time to get rid of the cause of this issue, check out what started the downslide of the financial sector and read about the CRA (Community Reinvestment Act), also notice that there were two times when a bill was shot down to reform and regulate Fannie, Freddie and AIG. Notice who opposed it and how it was opposed. On that note, also check out who tried to pass those bills to reform them. I will not color your opinion, but it is there in black and white. Wikipedia posted it as well and is a direct reflection of the records in Congress.

Actually they can and Barney Frank is on the list of people that have received money from them. I'll let you search out the facts yourself, since you wouldn't believe a link if I put one down (If you have half a brain that is.).

If we are going to have a snowballs chance in .... of fixing the mess, knowing and getting rid of the criminalsand fools that caused it is the first step.

Oh, okay Buck, I forgot, the standard Repuke answer is "it's all Clinton's fault." That's quite an elitist remark, BTW, questioning my educational background. I seem to recall your gal Sarah demeaning those with higher-education backrounds. Also, when I was in school, we had to cite our referneces when noting facts.

So, Buck, please, come up with something better, like a solution, like, maybe from your boy McCain. Like, duh.

As a native of Massachusetts, (Boston 1945), I am now very glad that I moved out in 1977. When I to have to explain Teddy-boy and Barney Frank to my friends, I do not know what to say. Except to note that one family member who still resides there (in the 4th District, no less) is crazy as a hoot-owl, to the point where I've had to terminate all contact. I'm sure it's due to long-term immersion in that poisonous naval-gazing liberal-lefty environment that accreted around the Boston college scene, starting in the early '60s, and eventually metasticized to the whole state. Heck, it took ME 10 years in rehab, but I'm now a happy and well-adjusted citizen of flyover country, (and I do beg that all you Mass liberals just keep on flyin' over - I don't want what's happening to New Hampshire to happen here.)

BTW New England seems to have a talent for breeding these banking scandal geniuses - remember Fernand St,. Germaine, anyone?

Bye now !

Don't believe it, Sam? How about the New York Times? Read the article about Fannie Mae on Sept 30, 1999, from which I quote,"Fannie Mae, the nation's biggest underwriter of home mortgages, has been under increasing pressure from the Clinton Administration to expand mortgage loans among low and moderate income people".

CST, as I expected. Blame Clinton.......was he the only one in Washington? It's like me saying Bush was responsible for 9/11. But I've heard y'all blame that one on Clinton, too. Does CST stand for Can't Stand the Truth?

The American people have no interest in explanations. They want a turn of phrase that fits on a bumper sticker and exemplifies the sharp wit that they so desperately wish they themselves were capable of. Any argument longer than that bores them and they tune it out. The people are no longer capable of critical thinking, instead grasping to whatever ideology justifies their actions and most closely resembles their prejudices.

The two political parties know this and in the interest of retaining their own political power have done nothing to fix the problem. The liberal elite refuse to send their children to the public schools they so strongly argue for because they know the quality of the education is sub-par. The hard-line social conservatives want to push idiotic fairy tales off as science. The powers that be have a vested interest in dumbing down the people as much as possible as quickly as possible. The ignorance of the masses solidifies their power base.
